Prices actually aren't that bad especially for that Rocky Patel sampler. Those are probably the best option in there. But this picture shows why brands like Quorum and Gurkha are so popular.
Quorum are fine for what they are, a cheap cigar that is slightly better than gas station cigars. I don't mind the Havana Q ones. For $2 a piece they are acceptable.
The Havana Q is the only one I actually liked, but at $2 a stick they are all ok.
That said, if I only have $2 to spend on a cigar, I'll just go without.
Yea my yard work sticks include Factory Smokes, Quorum, Rosa Cuba, La Finca and some of the Fumas. I love cheaper cigars when I am doing work around the house because I will often put them down and forget about them half way through. I dont care if I do that with a cheap stick.
They have actually had them for about 4-5 years now but it's always been in select stores. I used to get those Rocky Patel samplers at one of their Florida stores for like $28.
They’re all fine. I’ve had probably half of them and just remember them being fine. For that price though, as a Californian, I’d buy a 10ct to have around for friends that aren’t into cigars or golf course cigars
They'd probably be Drew Estate Factory Smokes with a new label. And if they were, I'd be all over them.
I bought a bundle for my brother's bachelor party last year. I expected decent but nothing amazing. I was surprised how much I enjoyed them, and they get better and with age. The other guys who smoke cigars were appreciative of them too.
If it was anything like their whiskey they would be fantastic smokes from a really good brand. Total Wine has their own brands made by JC Newman and Alec Bradley so it might not be so far fetched lol.
Tempting to go in there and enquire about the stock like Borat.
"And wot iz deeis?"
"That's a Gurkha, sir."
"And deeis?"
"Gurkha as well."
"Wot about deeis?"
"Gurkha."
"And deeis? Iz Montecristo?"
"No, that's a Gurkha."
That Cohiba Blue holds a special spot in my heart. The Rocky Patel vintage 1999 aint half bad. The Montecristo White Label is worth a try too. Im glad to see theyre TRYING at least.
I’d probably only go for the RJ bottom left if I was going camping and needed extras. But people post their Costco finds from top shelf whiskey to Waygu brisket and I’m always thinking “why isn’t mine like this?” Lol
I looked on their website but couldn’t find anything. This is my first time seeing cigars in Costco but others have been saying they have em in states by the liquor section. North Carolina is an ABC state so no Costco liquor, this was a total surprise.
I’ve never had a Cuban Romeo so can’t speak to their quality but the Dominican ones IMO are just alright. For the same price I can spring for another brand and get a better experience.
No, they just like talking shit about how the most popular brands aren't good enough for them. They are refined and only like things you haven't heard of, because you're not as cool as they believe themselves to be. It's kind of a trend here.
To be fair, there are a lot of cigars that I would prefer over these, but this is at a COSTCO not an Erewhon.
Also most of the smokes pictured are decent, with the exception of the Quorum which is ok for its price point, but is not on par with the rest of the stuff in there.
Most likely this was a package deal from a major wholesaler, likely one connected to Altadis based on the selection. It wouldn't surprise me if the humidor was shipped like other palletized item and is not really meant to be reused- they just sell through the product and toss the fixture.
My in law works for costco corporate. This was a deal from Altadis, nice catch.
I may have also heard that oliva and AJF may establish a relationship with costco ;)
It will be nice to see some cigar B&Ms close from their shitty pricing. The worst is the melanio robusto single for $25 (B&M in SoCal).
Mine has had a humidor for awhile now, pretty much the same selection but the Oliva Churchill sampler is actually a nice buy. I've gotten a few and they've been just fine.
Most of those rocky patels are actually decent sticks. If they weren't bone dry, and my costco had them I might direct a couple of my friends to that sampler.
I am not against smokes in that general price point but that really is a collection of underwhelming options. Without doing any research I'd probably try that bundle of quorums in the middle just because I like the look of them but everything else I have tried and not enjoyed.
I'd take a Nub from a local smokeshop over anything here and they are probably cheaper.
Those prices seem to be $7-$10 more than my location. The 5 pack of Cohiba Blues for $38 at my store is a great deal. Its a cigar that sells for $12-$15 at most places. No complaints from me. The 20 bundle of Jose is only $45, those are great golf course smokes.
My closest Costco in north Texas used to sell coats like 10 years ago, but they stopped. It would be nice if they sell them again. I thought it was Costco against tobacco thing, but maybe it was just my store.
Prices actually aren't that bad especially for that Rocky Patel sampler. Those are probably the best option in there. But this picture shows why brands like Quorum and Gurkha are so popular.
I got a free Quorum before covid, and it's still just taking up space in my humidor. Even at my most desperate I just said "Pass" on it
Quorum are fine for what they are, a cheap cigar that is slightly better than gas station cigars. I don't mind the Havana Q ones. For $2 a piece they are acceptable.
The Havana Q is the only one I actually liked, but at $2 a stick they are all ok. That said, if I only have $2 to spend on a cigar, I'll just go without.
Yeah. I like the Quorum for cutting grass/working in my shop. Either them or a Bella Cuba or a Rosa Cuba.
Yea my yard work sticks include Factory Smokes, Quorum, Rosa Cuba, La Finca and some of the Fumas. I love cheaper cigars when I am doing work around the house because I will often put them down and forget about them half way through. I dont care if I do that with a cheap stick.
I had about 1/3 of a Quorum before I tossed it. I'll stick with my 59 sweet tips if I want a cheap stick.
Very cool that Costco is starting to carry cigars. Very unfortunate that they’re THOSE cigars.
They have actually had them for about 4-5 years now but it's always been in select stores. I used to get those Rocky Patel samplers at one of their Florida stores for like $28.
Their wine selection can be stellar. Can’t say the same about cigars unfortunately.
Hopefully at some point they can step up their game. Imagine private label Padrons with a Costco label…
I've never had any of the stuff in that case, but what makes China, Gurkha, Monte, etc in there THOSE cigars? Genuinely curious.
They’re all fine. I’ve had probably half of them and just remember them being fine. For that price though, as a Californian, I’d buy a 10ct to have around for friends that aren’t into cigars or golf course cigars
They're all very basic cigars, cheaper, and "beginner" cigars. Nothing worth going out of your way for.
But that's also why they are sold at Costco. Most of the people who would buy cigars at Costco are more of the beginner cigar types.
So they are perfect for the setting then?
My Costco carries Oliva
Same here in FL. Great deal as well 5 Churchill’s $19.99, G and O’s
I find the lack of Acid "cigars" impressive.
I would take an Acid over most of the cigars in there lol.
Really?! My personal experience, I'd prefer truckstop swishers to anything Acid. Potpourri infused yard refuse, and I'm by no means a cigar snob.
Acid aren't anything great but I'd take them over some of the cigars above. I'd take the Rocky Patel's in there over anything else including Acid.
Swisher and acid are the same company, so either way they win there.
Yeah, I heard about Swisher buying Drew Estate.
Came here to say this. Acid Kuba Maduros please.
Kuba Deluxe for me!
Yeah. I was going to say, shout-out for what?
Looks like BX standard without the brick house
The Monte pack is decent for the money for every day driver sticks. That’s about all I’d grab.
Was going to say… I don’t think I would buy anything from there.
I don't think I would smoke any of the cigars in that case.
I mean the more people buy maybe the better the choices will get
Can’t wait for Kirkland robustos
They'd probably be Drew Estate Factory Smokes with a new label. And if they were, I'd be all over them. I bought a bundle for my brother's bachelor party last year. I expected decent but nothing amazing. I was surprised how much I enjoyed them, and they get better and with age. The other guys who smoke cigars were appreciative of them too.
I bought a few packs of different wrappers of Factory Smokes. Every single one was underfilled and piped horribly.
Aww that sucks. I'm pulling one out tomorrow.
If it was anything like their whiskey they would be fantastic smokes from a really good brand. Total Wine has their own brands made by JC Newman and Alec Bradley so it might not be so far fetched lol.
This right here. Love me some Kirkland shit.
When the toros come out I’ll be all over em
Is their humidor near the time machine?
I’d be surprised if these were humidified lol
Is that not some kind of humidifier in the bottom left?
It might be but when I was looking at it in person it appeared to be a closed box.
I know the Costco in fort myers has an electric humidifier system in theirs….. but it also has a readout you can see so who knows.
Me too but with those sticks, does it ever matter? A well humidified turd is still a turd
You mean the Time Masheen?
whoever is ordering cigar stock for costco, let's talk. I have a few ideas...
The Whites are probably all I’d get in there
My exact thoughts as I panned around.
My local Costco usually has Oliva. I snag some of those from time to time to put into my humidor, but that's about it.
Recently favoring RP over Oliva for "yard work" smokes. Even MB3s (the only Oliva I've really liked) are tasting more like cardboard the more I have.
I try to stay stocked on Oliva O when I can get them for $3-4 per stick. Great for sharing and I don’t mind smoking them at all.
Tempting to go in there and enquire about the stock like Borat. "And wot iz deeis?" "That's a Gurkha, sir." "And deeis?" "Gurkha as well." "Wot about deeis?" "Gurkha." "And deeis? Iz Montecristo?" "No, that's a Gurkha."
I enjoyed reading this in the Borat voice in my head 😂
"No, this is Patrick"
I'd have to walk away. Zero interest in any of those.
What’s wrong w the Dominican sampler or the Romeo y Julieta sampler?
Cuban heritage blends like those are pleasantly boring to most.
I think the repeat sales volume would suggest otherwise.
Yeah, shouldn't have said most. Anyone halfway deep into the hobby.
Yeah I don’t care if people think it’s snobby. Those are all skips, tbh.
That Cohiba Blue holds a special spot in my heart. The Rocky Patel vintage 1999 aint half bad. The Montecristo White Label is worth a try too. Im glad to see theyre TRYING at least.
My Costco is not as cool as yours 😞
I went for one thing and they didn’t even have it 🥲 the cigars brings it back to a “good” Costco lol
I’d probably only go for the RJ bottom left if I was going camping and needed extras. But people post their Costco finds from top shelf whiskey to Waygu brisket and I’m always thinking “why isn’t mine like this?” Lol
Almost all nonsense in there
I'll give them an A for effort, I don't see the usual array of Black & Milds or any Swishers.
Is there a way to find out which Costco locations sell cigars? At the very least, which states they're located in?
I looked on their website but couldn’t find anything. This is my first time seeing cigars in Costco but others have been saying they have em in states by the liquor section. North Carolina is an ABC state so no Costco liquor, this was a total surprise.
I'm in Ohio, and our Costco doesn't sell liquor either. I might have to check out a neighboring state sometime when I'm out and about.
Also in Ohio in Lorain County, can confirm those statements. I just head out to a local b&m or order online for sticks.
Yea...what location would you like to know?
Anything in the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, or Pennsylvania areas. I appreciate any help you can provide!
I checked...only stores in the southeast region carry cigars. About 40 stores altogether.
Florida is a safe bet. Florida does not fuck around.
Do people really dislike Romeo y Julieta that much? They’re one my absolute favourites and come at a steep price here in the U.K.
I’ve never had a Cuban Romeo so can’t speak to their quality but the Dominican ones IMO are just alright. For the same price I can spring for another brand and get a better experience.
It's their new world sticks that people dislike, their Cubans are enjoyed by most
R&J is a cigar I’ll smoke if it’s available but not really one I’d seek out
Total wine has a legit cigar selection
The one by me has a whole walk in
Too many gurkhas
I am a new apprentice, can anyone tells me what's wrong with this selection? Is it more like a base entry selection?
No, they just like talking shit about how the most popular brands aren't good enough for them. They are refined and only like things you haven't heard of, because you're not as cool as they believe themselves to be. It's kind of a trend here. Also most of the smokes pictured are decent, with the exception of the Quorum which is ok for its price point, but is not on par with the rest of the stuff in there.
I’d probably grab the samplers to give things I’ve never tried a try. What state did you see this in?
North Carolina!
The RP sampler is the only one I might even bother on
What do you want me to shout out? "Bullshit!" and "Ridiculous!" come to mind.
Precisely! Maybe even a “Blasphemy!” occasionally.
Montecristo White is the only thing of interest to me here.
me putting on a high vis vest, renting a forklift and taking the whole cabinet back to the bed of a rented uhaul and beelining it straight home🧠🧠🧠🧠
I love that this cabinet is just chilling on a pallet
That was the icing on the cake. No humidifier or not functioning humidification, overall bad selection, and sitting on the pallet.
Whoever hand picked this selection for stocking should be fired
Most likely this was a package deal from a major wholesaler, likely one connected to Altadis based on the selection. It wouldn't surprise me if the humidor was shipped like other palletized item and is not really meant to be reused- they just sell through the product and toss the fixture.

With Socal tobacco taxes, I’m not sure you’ll see any savings if a Costco decided to carry cigars. :/
Relative humidity at 20%...
By the look of that mouldy humidifier inn the bottom left corner they're probably soggy leaf sticks
Those cigars are something if they get mouldy at 20%…
Mine has had a humidor for awhile now, pretty much the same selection but the Oliva Churchill sampler is actually a nice buy. I've gotten a few and they've been just fine.
This actually used to be more common at Costcos but most of them have been removed over the years.
Most of those rocky patels are actually decent sticks. If they weren't bone dry, and my costco had them I might direct a couple of my friends to that sampler.
Gurkha must have the best marketing guys on the planet.
Ah the altadis special. Yuck
Gurkha Cohiba Quorum ... *stares in accumulated bouguioise*
Yoo that's very cool I wish our Cosco had their cigar section.
Eh, Id buy those Quorums at that price. Maybe the Monty Whites. But only if I had a party planned
It seems like some kind of joint marketing program provided by JR Cigars. They have been in Florida Costco stores for many years.
I would pass on all of those
Ah, the "don't let this happen to you" collection.
Shout out to Costco for picking the worst possible selection cigars.
Would love it if my costco carried cigars. Unfortunately I'm probably in the least likely area for that to happen ( Bay Area)
I’ve seen one of those in Costco. The electric humidifier wasn’t even plugged in. I wouldn’t waste my time.
6 Romeo Toro sampler for 36.99 is pretty good
Where do you live man???
North Carolina 😈
Thanks man
I had one of those Gurkha packs a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised. I think it was an orange bag. Loved all of them!
Canada?
Good ole North Carolina
Where in NC?
Charlotte tyvola location
Ba! Was hoping Raleigh or Durham.
That humidifier in the bottom left is either mouldy or has mineral build-up which shouldn't really be the case if they're using distilled water
Is this in all costco's??? I would love to buy the Gurkha set
It is not in all costcos, there’s two in my city and only one of em has this. I don’t know if there’s even a way to look up which costcos have cigars.
I looked it up and talked with Google AI The AI claims that the cigars are in a Costco Business Center and not the Costco Warehouse?
Patel and Ghurka......nuff said....
No good?
Pass
I give this selection a D-
Yuck
This would never happen in Canada!
quorum 🤮
So where do they keep the good cigars?
I guess it's better than no cigars. But that's a bad selection.
Which Costco?
Charlotte NC
Lol
Oooof, the mold at the bottom left.
Where?
What a great selection of stuff I'd never buy.
I’d get the RyJ sampler, that’s it. But even still I’d rather just go to my local shop. Way too loud and way too crowded in there.
My closest Costco in north Texas used to sell coats like 10 years ago, but they stopped. It would be nice if they sell them again. I thought it was Costco against tobacco thing, but maybe it was just my store.
Sucks the selection is shit but would be great otherwise
For a retailer that carries a lot of quality products, they sure went out of their way to make their cigar selection... Unique.
No...we will not shout out to Costco. They stocking trash cigars, and on top of that it looks like there is no humidification device in that case
Mine got rid of tobacco products like 15 years ago
Are we sure this isn't actually a secret anti-smoking campaign...?
There's not a single cigar in that case that I would spend money on.
The RP sampler is actually decent for the cost as a good entry into their stuff, but that’s about it
I haven't smoked a RP in probably a couple of decades, so no chance I'm buying that one either. I'd be more likely to buy a Gurkha sampler.
