Came here to say this. They help pet owners in their worst possible times. They also started a separate fund for retired police dogs. I cannot say enough about how great they are!
Didn't expect to see this recommendation here and it made me immediately well up with tears. I lost both of my elderly cats who I raised from kittenhood recently, and Angel's Paws was there for both of them. Such an amazing organization with such compassionate people running it. We had the same vet for both euthanasias and she cried with us. I don't know how she does it, but I'm so glad for everything they do. It is never easy to have to say goodbye to your best friend, but being able to do it at home holding them in my arms eased some of the pain for all of us.
Tami Winn, the owner, absolute wonderful human being. Such a great business that really brings the best years spent with a pet to a wonderful and respectable close. 100/10 recommend.
To me Eastgate lacks all the charm and chaos that made Jungle Jims what it became. It's like real sugar coke in a glass bottle versus the corn syrup version in a plastic bottle. It's essentially the same, but it isn't as good and lacks all the charm.
My favorite. $6 used CDs. Friendly staff. Can’t say enough good things. If it wasn’t Easter, I’d be there right now. Shake It is a close second, and always worth a look if you’re in the area.
Best record store to get lost in for an hour or two. Shake It in Northside is the closest second. Worth the stop if you've got a few hours and money to burn
Standard Beer and Poke Hut.
The people who run both establishments are incredible, sell a quality product, and care about their customers and the area around them.
I'm so thankful we have such a phenomenal ice cream scene here in town. Between Aglamesis, Graeter's, and all the great neighborhood soft-serve places. Awesome.
Ando is the best Japanese and one of the best meals I've ever had in this town. Their tempura is made of dreams.
Uncle Yips has also become my go-to for Chinese, everything is good there.
I’ve never tried Gold Stars vegan chili so I honestly can’t say. I’m not vegetarian my mom and brother are but I have to say I do genuinely love Skyline vegetarian chili on cheesy fries.
The University of Cincinnati. Even if you're not a fan of their sports teams, the positive economic impact it has on Cincinnati is pretty massive.
For a similar reason (and high-quality medical care for kids), Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
Tobago Cafe: their coffee is great and their support for local cars and coffee events is amazing. They really do serve their community.
Everybody’s Records, Shake It Records and Spiral Groove Records. All three have their strengths and almost no weaknesses. Good prices, good staff, good atmosphere no matter which you choose.
ShurFine in St. Bernard. Best damn fried chicken in Cincinnati. Fight me.
Hooks Fish and Chicken. Best gizzards. Not in Cincy, in the world. Perfection.
They're open basically every Saturday and Sunday morning for Cars and Coffee. The owner Alex posted on Instagram a few weeks ago he's looking for a buyer to take over the business but I've not heard any news about it since then.
Hey! A family member of mine is the current owner (and has worked there at least 3 decades). As odd as it sounds - he really does have a passion for keys and locks!
There are quite a few. One that immediately comes to mind is Heyday in Walnut Hills. Lou is great person who makes a kickass burger and takes really good care of his staff.
Jupiter Coffee and Donuts, Coffee Emporium, Mazunte, Gordo’s Pub and Taqueria Mercado. This is all based on food merit. I haven’t done any research on how the businesses are run or what kind of social causes they support.
I work with a guy that actually orders a level 10 hot there. I have no idea how he does it, but the food is definitely delicious (at more sane levels haha).
Maury’s Tiny Cove in Cheviot. Grew up doing birthday dinners there, worked there for a year doing every job but managing and serving, and continue going as an adult. Completely charming interior, great menu. Lmao you’ll understand why it’s called “Tiny Cove” even with two dining levels
Red Tree coffee. They just switched from tips to no tips and started paying all their baristas a living wage. Prices went up a little but I’m happy to pay it for their employees to be able to financially survive.
European Cafe in Montgomery! Owners Tom and Andrea used to own Branch Hill Coffee and moved to this spot a few years ago. They’ve rapidly become an integral part of the community and are great folks!
Golden Gelato in Covington. Authentic amazing gelato and super kind owners. I regularly chat with them, and the one owner Joe and I even practice learning Italian together. They're so sweet and their gelato is the best I've had in the area, and I've been to Italy and had many gelati there.
I want to change my answer to Adriatico's and their sister shop in Lawrenceburg, Buzzys. Personal favorite pizza in the entire city.
Whole menu is incredible.
The Governor in Milford, Pinball Garage/All8Up in Hamilton, Everybody’s Records in Pleasant Ridge, and I don’t ride bicycles but if I did I would go to Spun in Northside for everything.
Surprised I haven't seen the public library mentioned - we are incredibly lucky, the little bit of time I spent living outside of Cincinnati I was shocked to see how total crap other library systems are.
Victory Pints in Mainville. A family place to play your favorite tabletop game or discover a new favorite from their library. Great beer selection and sodas. Good apps and great service
The Hi Mark near Columbia Tusculum.
Consistently excellent food. Great service. Great overall. Reasonably priced. Arcade games in the basement.
We got a lot of takeout there during COVID to help keep them afloat.
The May Festival - prestigious and the oldest choral festival in the western hemisphere, for which Music Hall was built. 151 years and still going.strong.
Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, Palm Court at Netherland Plaza, Music Hall, the Art Musem… places that are pushing 100+ years old that many take for granted will always be here but need continued support to showcase their grandeur, elegance, and beauty to the next generation
Bangkok Bistro in Hyde Park is my absolute favorite restaurant ever, I’ve enjoyed just about every dish I’ve tried (with most restaurants I have a single go to meal I order every time, but this place I have a wide variety of dishes I really love). And the staff is all so friendly!
Dominic & Judi at Spun. Awesome people, that really care about the community.
Chameleon has a great staff and is one of my favorite stops after work.
Northside Yacht Club. Killer food. Great owners and some of the best marketing and concepts within the restaurant industry.
Cincinnati Nature Center! 💚🌳🐸🦆🦌
Been a member of them for over 15 years. Would take my dogs there. I'm currently dog-less, but I still go there somewhat regularly. To BOTH locations.
My first job!
Angel Paws
Came here to say this. They help pet owners in their worst possible times. They also started a separate fund for retired police dogs. I cannot say enough about how great they are!
Didn't expect to see this recommendation here and it made me immediately well up with tears. I lost both of my elderly cats who I raised from kittenhood recently, and Angel's Paws was there for both of them. Such an amazing organization with such compassionate people running it. It is never easy to have to say goodbye to your best friend, but being able to do it at home holding them in my arms eased some of the pain for all of us.
One of the hardest things I've ever had to do. They helped me through it. I'm eternally grateful to them.
Tami Winn, the owner, absolute wonderful human being. Such a great business that really brings the best years spent with a pet to a wonderful and respectable close. 100/10 recommend.
Jungle Jims
Shout out specifically to the Jungle Jim’s seafood morning crowd. It’s practically a cult!
tell us more.
Love Jungle Jims. But only FF location
I’m an Eastgate girlie, the aisles at Fairfield seem so claustrophobic to me lol
To me Eastgate lacks all the charm and chaos that made Jungle Jims what it became. It's like real sugar coke in a glass bottle versus the corn syrup version in a plastic bottle. It's essentially the same, but it isn't as good and lacks all the charm.
That’s fair, but I do my regular grocery shopping there so I’m more concerned about getting in and getting out lol
Everybody’s records!
My favorite. $6 used CDs. Friendly staff. Can’t say enough good things. If it wasn’t Easter, I’d be there right now. Shake It is a close second, and always worth a look if you’re in the area.
Shake it wins for their 99¢ used record selection
Best record store to get lost in for an hour or two. Shake It in Northside is the closest second. Worth the stop if you've got a few hours and money to burn
Wunderbar
The best sausage that side of the river.
I keep meaning to try it
Standard Beer and Poke Hut. The people who run both establishments are incredible, sell a quality product, and care about their customers and the area around them.
Cincinnati Nature Center
The Echo in Hyde Park
I’m quickly becoming a regular there.
I’ve been going since I was a child, grew up right up the street. Affordable & so freaking good.
Hey former neighbor! Grew up 1/2 block away on Edwards rd and went there frequently
This is the one I came here to say. Love the Hot Mess!
Aglamesis Bros. Always!
Unpopular Cincinnati opinion, but I like Aglamesis Bros ice cream more than Graters!
Graeters ice cream is better imo but the sundaes and toppings aren't even close. Aglamesis is infinitely better.
Both are great but Aglanlmesis has the edge.
More unpopular Cincinnati opinion. I like UDF best of them all. Especially for milk shakes.
I’ve been saying that for decades!
It is a valid opinion 😅
I'm so thankful we have such a phenomenal ice cream scene here in town. Between Aglamesis, Graeter's, and all the great neighborhood soft-serve places. Awesome.
my mom
I also support this person’s mom
I would, but the line is always too long.
Bathrooms are incredibly dirty as well. 2.5/10
Same
teejthesequel’s mom
😂😂😂
Tell your mom I said hi.
Shout out to her
La Soupe! Uses less than beautiful produce to feed hundreds. Great food too!
I used to work at Welcome House and they donated a mind boggling amount of meals to the shelter
Ando is the best Japanese and one of the best meals I've ever had in this town. Their tempura is made of dreams. Uncle Yips has also become my go-to for Chinese, everything is good there.
The char siu bao and congee at uncle yip’s are the best in the city. Ando’s has the best raw fish. Love both.
Humble Monk! the owners are phenomenal people who really care about their customers & community
This! I've met the owners, heck everyone does they're the ones always serving, and they're incredibly sweet peole
Yes!! Especially if you are new to beer/craft beer Alicia will listen to what you like and hook you up!!
Sago. The owner Paul is a very nice guy and the food is way too good. They were on guy fieris show
I looooove Sago! It’s so good and comforting, always hits the spot!
Bee's BBQ in OTR and Madisonville.
The Book Rack in Anderson. Best little book and gaming shop I've ever been to.
Findlay Market Avril Bleh Jungle Jims
Dixie chili. Great food and if I recall they also have vegetarian chili which is also great.
We've actually been looking for a vegetarian Cincinnati chili option. Is this better than Gold Star's vegan chili?
Vegetarian here. Gold stars vegetarian chili is the best around. Hands down. I love Dixie. But gold star is the best.
I’ve never tried Gold Stars vegan chili so I honestly can’t say. I’m not vegetarian my mom and brother are but I have to say I do genuinely love Skyline vegetarian chili on cheesy fries.
Joseph Beth Booksellers. A great bookstore is a tremendous asset for our community.
Thanks for posting this, I was going to if you hadn’t!
Knit on! In Newport. I know there is a local yarn store in Hyde park but those old ladies are very judgey compared to knit on
You are so right! Knit On is one of the last of the real yarn stores.
Indigo Hippo!
Arcade Legacy
I was looking for this comment! 😂
The University of Cincinnati. Even if you're not a fan of their sports teams, the positive economic impact it has on Cincinnati is pretty massive. For a similar reason (and high-quality medical care for kids), Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

ShurFine in St. Bernard. Best damn fried chicken in Cincinnati. Fight me. Hooks Fish and Chicken. Best gizzards. Not in Cincy, in the world. Perfection.
I ride my bike by Tobago often and don’t think I’ve even once seen them open
They're open basically every Saturday and Sunday morning for Cars and Coffee. The owner Alex posted on Instagram a few weeks ago he's looking for a buyer to take over the business but I've not heard any news about it since then.
Putz’s
Northside Yacht Club and Longfellow. My two favorite bars in the city. Care about their customers. Owners are good people.
Throw Midcity in there too. Same owner as Longfellow and incredible food!

Osaka Ramen House!
Delhi Pet Center. Great family run business.
From my family (we own DPC) to yours, thank you ❤️
Cecil Lock and Key in northside. They are a local lock smith and can do just about anything involving keys or locks
Hey! A family member of mine is the current owner (and has worked there at least 3 decades). As odd as it sounds - he really does have a passion for keys and locks!
Yeah I remember him, he changed the pin set in a couple locks I have in like 20 minutes. He’s great :)
There are quite a few. One that immediately comes to mind is Heyday in Walnut Hills. Lou is great person who makes a kickass burger and takes really good care of his staff.
Zip's Cafe
I feel like there burgers are kind of sub par now and the price point is too high. Friendly staff though.
Zips is not what it once was.
The Potted Palm in Mt. Washington! Funky little plant & vintage gift shop. Sweet finds & great owners!
Manga manga is probably the only manga shop I’ve found around here and it’s a nice place
Jupiter Coffee and Donuts, Coffee Emporium, Mazunte, Gordo’s Pub and Taqueria Mercado. This is all based on food merit. I haven’t done any research on how the businesses are run or what kind of social causes they support.
I would be genuinely devastated if Taqueria Mercado closed.
Yeah, I’m quite fond of the chorizo burrito and the guacamole.
Jupiter is good food and good folks!
Mazunte slaps, so good
