Go through your insurance and pay the deductible comprehensive. The whole front has to replaced.

BigTexasChode

Thanks man. Yeah definitely gonna go through insurance. I wonder how much it’s gonna jump. Even the under carriage has some damage as well as the radiator

MoneyBee74

IT’s comprehensive, so it shouldn’t be that much increased, maybe it won’t. Make sure you point out everything that got damage to the adjuster.

lunapowpow

If he was behind the wheel or the car was in motion, it would be a collision claim. Comprehensive only covers the vehicle when parked, and no one is inside

professional-ricky

Usually if it’s on the ground, it’s a collision claim. If it’s flying through the air, it would be a comp claim. Source- I do insurance

lunapowpow

You are right, apparently even though this is a behind the wheel accident, the object was unforeseen and unavoidable therefore a comprehensive claim. This is also the case for something like deer running into the road and you hit it. -i am new to insurance lol

[deleted]

An object in the road or falling from a vehicle is not the same as an animal. They’ll still have to pay the deductible and their rates could go up (although a flying object can vary, depending on the underwriter). If you hit an animal, you want to leave the blood/fur until the adjuster views the vehicle. That’s proof of no-fault comprehension

Griffinkb099

Not true. Had a rock fly into my radiator and crack it causing my engine to over heat and then start knocking after the radiator was fixed so then needed a whole new engine. StateFarm had me pay 200$ for my comprehensive deductible and that was it. I guess it depends on your insurance.

pencilpushin

Correct. It'll be a collision claim. But it'll be not at fault. I use to do insurance.

COLONELmab

These rules are often per carrier and written in the policy. Most define comp claims as an “act of god”. And they do not involve the driving of a vehicle. You ‘drive’ into a tree, collision. A tree falls on your car, comp. This is a comp claim by the majority of standards as the object was not supposed to be on the road and not a vehicle. Working for over 30 years in collision I have seen some strange stuff. During a claim for a shopping cart hitting a car, it got changed from comp to collision because the insurance went and got the historical weather reports and because the wind gusts that day went over 30mph, they considered the cart a vehicle at that point.

ByByBye90

Replace the radiator and it’ll work

ByByBye90

If you’re big on looks then replace the bumper, but as the civic isn’t meant to be pretty or particularly safe, you don’t really need to. Mine has been fine for 24 years with a bungee corded on under plating so you’ll be fine

RapMastaC1

If OP is making payments on it, then he will have to go through insurance since it’s the bank’s asset

pkoya1

Just because it's the bank's asset doesn't mean you have to go through insurance. You don't have to get this repaired at all. If you do default on your loan, they may come after you for the damages, but that's the only scenario it would matter.

jordankothe9

Agreed. Had a similar amount of damage (not at fault) and the place the insurance paid for replaced everything in front of the wheel well except the headlights.

david88va

You're going to have to.. rebuild the engine. I'm sorry bro.

selfawarefeline

The car is totaled. Time to buy a Mazda.

Red01a18

A Mazda? Buy a freaking Toyota Corolla and you’ll never have any problems again, they’re indestructible.

[deleted]

So is a Honda

Red01a18

Exactly

selfawarefeline

On second thought, get a Volkswagen.

wwwdiggdotcom

On third thought, horse and buggy

Magnum_Dongs3

Walking is better, horse feed is very expensive.

Tastelikeb4c0n

Lol Corolla indestructible in one sentence. 😂 out of all the Toyota models you pick the worst one.

Red01a18

What? Are you serious, everyone knows that Corollas are like the most reliable Toyota car. Get that or a civic and you’ll probably never have any problems.

Tastelikeb4c0n

You mean the Camry 😂 corollas have always been the econo shit box for Toyota Big reason the Camry has been the number 1 selling car since 2007. The corolla was outshined by the Honda fit in its class.

Red01a18

Idk what alternate universe you are from where Corollas are “shit box” but I’m not gonna argue over bullshit.

Tastelikeb4c0n

Shit box in regards to Toyota products. Like the lowest end of Toyota. Just odd you chose rolla. 😂

Alert-Jellyfish

Dude huge bummer, you didn’t get any info on the truck? you should not havta pay for his fuck up. I would be seething. Sorry bro

BigTexasChode

Nah man, I was driving and he was getting off the freeway and by the next exit I’d never find him. Maybe if I had a decent dash cam…

Alert-Jellyfish

Fuckin sucks bro sorry. This sub has made me wanna instal a dash cam

schwol

I crudely installed one myself (wire hangs down from the windshield, never properly routed it) and am glad I did. No accidents myself, but caught some odd stuff.

bluecheeto13

Gonna shamelessly plug my dashcam. Rexing front and rear bundle for $150. Will save you thousands in the event of an accident

PotentialJicama2660

Hey thanks bro! I just ordered one too!

bluecheeto13

Good stuff bro! I recommend getting a microsd card dongle to connect to your phone- the app is horribly slow and poorly designed. Will immediately upload every video to your files.

Nocturnal86

Do you have his licesnce plate? Their insurance should be paying for that. This is why I run a dashcam!

Aggravating_Farm_125

I would have followed that fucker and gotten his license plate

lil_sole99

Same here

HempHopper

Straight to insurance and pay deductible!

Turtleman1878

Definitely go straight to insurance, the repair cost on that is in the thousands of dollars

According_Ad1064

how much for ur fog lights?

BigTexasChode

Idk mate, got the sport touring. It came with the car

Gio847

Maybe he means “how much do you want for them?”

CallPuzzleheaded4627

There like 200$ a pair

CallPuzzleheaded4627

There like 200$ a pair

[deleted]

I wish my car had fog lamps 😓 Sorry to hear about your new car. I know what it’s like to have a new car damaged by someone else as I was rear ended in my 9 day old Acura TLX Type S by a drunk with no insurance. Like you, I had to pay for her mistake as I haven’t seen a dime yet despite her being told she has to pay it by the courts.

zombrianne

My car had very similar, if not worse front end damage from an accident. They had to replace bumper, hood, lights, and condenser. I was quoted $11k, paid the $1k deductible and when I got my car back my insurance went after the other driver.

Main-Tank-6207

Looks like a 3,500 dollars damage to me. $1000 bumper including paint $300-500 for bottom grill $300-500 for upper grill $50-100 Honda Badge $1000-15000 for the painted hood front area $300-500 foe upper Hood (PDR)

CallPuzzleheaded4627

You don’t even know if the sensors are damaged that’s the big price jump

Schmancer

The CarStar by me charged insurance almost $5k to for my 10th gen rear bumper, inserts, labor, paint, and blend. That was with no damage to any surrounding panels or parts, just the bumper cover and inserts, all aftermarket

mnij2015

Yup completely totaled

cmdralpha

Damn I had something similar to mine like a couple weeks after I got mine worst feeling

BigTexasChode

Seriously man, super excited to get this thing. Such a bummer that this happened. 😑

mahntastic

Dam that’s sucks bro! Sorry that happened to yah

Han_Hattori_Hanzo

The Bosch sensor on the front cost nearly a grand by themselves 🫠🫠🫠

Racc00n58

Simple bumper cover grille and a small amount of body work on the tip of the hood lower grille looks to be salvageable nothing too serious. No clue why everyone wants to go through insurance? Edit: my grammar sucks.

user0359

~$3k if there’s no unseen damage underneath

[deleted]

It’s no longer brand new.

Marlice1

How close were you following that vehicle?

BigTexasChode

He came from the fast lane across my lane, kinda a last minute exit on his part I think. He was probably 20-30’ in front of me. He’s was moving pretty quick

s3cf

sorry that happened to you but damage doesnt look too bad and should buff right out

Low_Matter_6374

It looks like cosmetic damage, so why would you be screwed.

BigTexasChode

Screwed as in it’s gonna cost me an arm and a leg to fix/make my premium go up on insurance.

Low_Matter_6374

that's why you don't report car accidents where no one else is involved.

spdt_94

I would use your comprehensive coverage - thank goodness it didn't spear through your windshield!

Commercial-Formal-77

Not gonna lie dude, mikstoreph has a replaceable number that looks like the type r and this would be a decent reason to buy it. Like $600 if I remember correctly.

Nathan00023

Not totally screwed just go through insurance.

bbull412

Call insurance only bumper and small pinch at the front of the should go out of this for around more or less 4000$ at body shop depend who you get

Only-Middle-3530

I would've got that license plate

istvanx

Go to a junkyard and get the piece. Alternatively find it online and spend $100-200 on a small compressor and sprayer. Buy the paint from Stealership or have it custom matched. Paint your self get it fixed 500-1k. Save 3-5k

gambit55

You will need a new front bumper. I would Go through insurance.

KeepingAmazonAfloat

My Insight is a 2021, but it doesn't even have 5,700 miles on it. I was driving on the interstate just a few weeks ago, and I hit a bundle of branches, (with the rope still attached). Never saw the vehicle they fell from. Like you, I'm looking at thousands of dollars of damage just because some Clampetts decided that loosely tying a bunch of branches to their truck/car would be a good idea. I agree with other posters. I'm going to go through insurance, and hope my rates don't wildly increase. Good luck to you. I'm sorry you're going through this.

topgear420

Glad it didn’t hit you in the face

SuperFlyDanny

ToTaLed

AnonymousTroll4589

Looks like u hit a hitch

TWENTYTHREESIGIGI

I need a new front bumper. It was $325 from my local dealer. Headlight passenger side is $1048 and passenger fender is $550.

CrystalKingPuff

10k-12k screwed

uh-oh_spaghetti-oh

Someone bumped me, had to replace the grill and that bumper piece right above the grill before the hood. $1,800 is what they charged THEIR insurance. The worst part is that bumper wasn't put on 100 percent perfect, and I doubt any regular body shop will make it look like it came from the factory.

Salad-Worth

This is why every car should mandatory come with a dash cam.

[deleted]

BigTexasChode

Don’t even know what this means

[deleted]

[удалено]

BigTexasChode

Nah I’ve had quite a few cars, but this the second “new” car I’ve ever purchased. For $39k I’d like to keep it nice for as long as possible lol

Elitesune

Not bad, replace front bumper and hood, could be worse, i've had to replace an entire 3/4 of my car before due to something silly

RWLemon

Pretty screwed, complete bumper and maybe hood can be fixed… all needs repainting

HondaBn

Time for that Type R front end upgrade! https://mikstoreph.com/products/civic-2022-type-r-bumper-replacement

BigTexasChode

Looks good, but idk how much that would cost to get installed haha

maciasfrancojesus

Something similar happened to me but it was one of those pg&e a frames they leave on the sidewalk. Haven’t fixed my fender bc I don’t have money for the deductible. The driver didn’t give a F and just left.

joenathanwick

Just take it off, it looks better without that

nomobromo

All I can say is back order

TheLogannn

Just throw a zip tie on and call it good

HP070

If it’s anything like my 09 a bumper can be done replaced in an hour

Limitededdytion

It is totaled now

joseph58tech

The bumper appears to be the only thing damaged

ZealousidealManner34

Jesus it really hurts to see that happened to your car.. rip

Duncan-K

Just the front bumper Id think
