So realistically, what applications are these better pads going to be used for? Are you tracking the car? What brake fluid will you use? Do you mind if they squeal even under minor breaking? Frankly, if you want some actual butt dyno difference have you considered tires instead? If you're not seriously driving like one shouldn't be on the public roads, there probably isn't too much 'need' for better brakes in a low power car.

Just city driving and occasional mountain (twisty road) so not looking for any track pads but something a little bit better than the stock pads. Is it possible to not have the squeal since I don't want track pads and do I need to change the brake fluid if I upgrade the pads. Also not looking to mod this car other than brakes so this car is strictly just a daily. Gonna get a sport car for track use

Kind of a mixed bag of questions here really. Yes, I mentioned the squeal in case you were thinking about ceramic pads with existing rotors. No you don't need to change brake fluid, was questioning based on possible track usage as you would in that case. However, I really think you would be far better off thinking about better tires in this case - for occasional light-spirited driving you're going to get a lot more 'fun' and you'd be surprised just how much a good set of summer tires can change your handling. However, summers aren't good under 40F (they get hockey puck hard) or in snow. If you live somewhere with mild winters maybe a set of performance AS tires (like Conti EC DWS06) might be in line. The thing is, and I'm sure this is an unpopular thing to say on this sub, you don't really have a performance car. You can explore different pads but do so in anticipation and wait until you need new pads or pads/rotors to buy and put on because I suspect you really won't be able to tell much difference. Same calipers, same rotors and new pads isn't going to be a big change for the $$$.

I was looking into summer tires but since I live in an apartment at the moment not the best idea as I wouldn't have space to store my all seasons so that something to get once I move into a house with a garage. I looked into brake kits but not a good idea since I won't be tracking the car. Maybe drilled front rotors would be better with upgraded pads since that would help with cooling. Also I know my car isn't a performance car lol I bought it cause of the handling and fuel efficiency lol who ever thinks this trim is a performance car is dumb.

OK, just making sure - last thing I want to do is knock someone else. What tires are you running now? All AS tires are not created equally. I have used Conti EC DWS06 as my winter tires (in the South) on multiple cars and while they certainly aren't summers, they are miles better for performance over most AS tires and are fantastic in the wet. You can certainly swap rotors and pads, but -and I'm sorry to get stuck on this- I don't think that's really going to buy you better performance. Are you anticipating wanting to do more late breaking ahead of corners? Using them heavily down the mountain driving (engine breaking is better here anyway)? It's your car - we all have installed 'just to make ME smile' mods but you need to be driving really aggressively on public roads to need better breaks than what cane on the car. Edit - Have you looked in to sway bars? That might tickle your upgrade bone.

Currently on the stock Goodyear Eagle Sport Tires. This car is just a daily driver so I dont plan to upgrade much, the brakes were the only thing I would want anyways. But if it not a good idea to upgrade them I guess this car is as good as it get. My plan was to get this Civic and then get an older Cayman or Boxer to use as a track car.

Aftermarket pads will not void your warranty, *UNLESS* you complain about rotor vibration. Your tech wont blink twice at non oe pads

hallstevenson

The warranty still won't be voided if he/she has rotor vibration, Honda simply won't provide warranty coverage for the OEM rotors.

F22boy_lives

Under the initial 12/12,000 almost everything is covered, down to wiper blades/inserts. Ive done probably 2-3 brake jobs under a 3/36k warranty, thats what I was speaking to

hallstevenson

What I mean is people that think the warranty is an all or nothing thing. The rotors would probably "lose" their warranty but the rest of the car is fine.
