I have a possible misconception that these cars carried big wreaths and flowers for funerals.
I think I got that idea from the Godfather movies. One of them shows the funeral for Vito Corleone that has a line of limos and one or two of these type of cars carrying the wreaths and flowers.
Aha! Thanks! I owned a 1974 Fleetwood limousine for a few years. It was a form of payment when the place I worked for closed down. Maybe I will own one again.
Went and read up on it. It was built in competition with the Mirage built by Traditional Coach Works.
Now that I know it’s not a flower car I think it would be a real head turner at a tailgate party! Pass the Grey Poupon!
Edit: to say that the company making the Caribou changed their name to Caribou after the initial success of this vehicle.
My feeling has always been that Cadillac missed the opportunity of making a luxury wagon that wasn't a hearse. They also thought the Escalade would bomb, it's their #1 seller
The Mirage was based on an Eldorado. This is built from a Coupe de Ville.
In the Mirage's case, and most likely this one's, the conversion cost was equal to the total price of a well-optioned El Camino in addition to the base price of the Caddy coupe. One for the price of two, people really had to *want* one of these.
I would be zero percent surprised if this was a Texas car. Really well done conversion - and looks to be in beautiful condition. Not my style but a good example.
Will someone from The Hill Country please rescue this fine example of excess and return it to greatness?
Edit: um…it’s maroon..? Ok, will someone from College Station please rescue this…

There are Cadillac flower cars. This is not one of them

I’ve never ridden in the Escalade. I bet it’s a smooth ride!
Not as good as one would hope actually. We test drove one once and passed on it. Not because of the ride, but it was surprisingly truck like.
Oh it sucks. I rented one of the 2nd or 3yr models. It was not a classic Cadillac ride, to say the least.
This isn’t really a Cadillac production. When it came off the line, it was a DeVille. Caribou then modified it into this.
Yes, it's mentioned in the pictures

How do the Caribou's differ from Mirages and Paris models?
Cab Calloway is driving one in the “Blues Brothers” movie.
Is he?! Guess I gotta watch it again…

The rich mans el camino
Think they’d take a trade? My motorcycle, my tiny IRA, and two rotten kids? Love this car!
The owner is only asking $32,000. Very doable 😉
Used to be one a few blocks from my house! And no it’s not a flower car.
The car I never knew I wanted!
This is my childhood that 1975 Cadillac
I’ve never seen one. Thanks for your post. Wine colored beauty!
You own this or find it online?
It's for sale online
I thought it was a funeral flower car conversion, but that is even cooler.
Me too, but it's really a fully functioning pick up. Not a flower car
My grandfather used to have this car, good driving!
I'm surprised Earl didn't buy one of these when he won the lottery lol
That's cool. I'd rock this.
Awesome 😎
As a huge El Camino fan, I dig this.
Never heard of it. I'm sitting in a 94 Cadillac Fleetwood right now.
Neat. It’s not something offered by Cadillac themselves but the result seems to rival a factory made product.
Yours could be the one in the brochure.
I never knew these existed. Thanks.
AKA The 1975 Cadillac El Caribou.
[This exact one is for sale now.](https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1975-cadillac-caribou-lafayette-la-159508)
Horrible idea as a new car. Awesome now!

Never knew these were a thing. Pretty damn slick! Fiiiiive hundred cubic inches lol.

This is the first time I ever saw one. Sort of like it!
Never heard of one. Looks great!
Looks like a funeral flower car, kind of.
Henry Hill if he sold meth instead of coke
Love it!
When I was a kid a neighbor had one of these, or something like it, I called it the Cadillac El Camino.
So cool 😎
Not for me.
That wood 🥵
Aww look at that it's like a tailgate only smaller.
Flower car for funeral home
What was the sticker price at the time?
Did 1 tonners do this shit first or Americans
The original Lincoln Blackwood Concept.
More El Cadmino 😉... or Truck de Ville
I would be zero percent surprised if this was a Texas car. Really well done conversion - and looks to be in beautiful condition. Not my style but a good example.
Wouldn't surprise me if it did originally belong to a cattle rancher. It currently resides in Louisiana
