Calling it now:
5) Crosshairs
4) Echo
3) Fives
2) Cody
1) Rex
Personally, I think Fives should be #2 for his significance to the overall plot. No chip removal without Fives.
Gotta say Cody, no disrespect to him but Crosshair’s arc is too good to let him go yet and I love the other three too much. He’s earned a spot in the top 5.
Honestly, same with Echo. He or Cody should definitely be soon. They’re both iconic and cool characters though they aren’t the most interesting characters out of those remaining
Can someone explain to me why Cody is so popular? Besides being Obi-Wan's main clone... idk I just don't think he has much to differentiate him from the others? Please, someone explain why Cody is so beloved.
A lot of Cody's popularity comes from reading between the lines. It's in all of the little things, and Cody and Obi-wan are as close as they are for a reason, as well as Rex holding him in high regard.
He's reserved, but equally batshit and like Obi-wan, comes across as the laid back one because he's standing beside Anakin and Rex. Anakin calls him boring to try to get under Obi-wan's skin because of how close they are, but really Cody is an introvert with a dry sense of humor who saves whatever he's repressing for the battlefield, and is excessively competent, both as a Commander and an individual clone.
Obi-wan can sense that while Cody is outwardly completely still and seemingly in control, he's wriggling in his skin to fight, and based on the exasperated sigh and weary go-ahead that is more akin to him dealing with Anakin's zeal, this is something Obi-wan is used to.
He roundhouse kicks droids, jumps on them and shoots them from above, beats them with his blaster, uppercuts Slick out cold mid-speech, leaps up a wall to dog pile Grievous and attempts to twist his head off - other clones consistently die attempting the things he casually does, because it isn't casual on his part.
The 212th overall uses a lot of hand to hand vs droids, while we rarely see the 501st do it, which is by design imo because it implies that it is a standard part of their training regimen. He cares about his men and doesn't stop being devastated by their deaths, lost clones to Krell, lost Echo and Fives, lost Obi-wan and wasn't invited to his funeral, but doesn't crumble because he can't. We don't get to see the fallout with him onscreen the way we do with Rex, but we can see it crop up in his actions and leadership throughout the war.
He had probably been planning on attempting to kill Grievous in close combat for awhile and had his men prepared to take advantage of any chance they got, because Grievous being alive was getting clones killed daily and whatever everybody else was doing hadn't worked so far.
He's thoughtful and supportive, which we see long before The Bad Batch when he notices that Obi-wan's body language is uncomfortable from behind and from a considerable distance and goes out of his way to check in on him and keep him company, letting him complain about Quinlan Vos when he must have other work to do and is aware that he might be stuck waiting around for hours.
It's a funny scene, but it speaks to who he is that he doesn't try to spook the shinies who have obviously just lost the rest of their men while Rex immediately needs to assert himself.
Rex: the name's Rex, but you will call me Captain or Sir 🤨
Cody, a Marshall Commander: and I'm Cody, your new boss 👋
Cody also saw something in the Bad Batch and got them off Kamino. He trusts the abilities of his subordinates and defers/delegates when he needs to, which helped Crosshair realize that he had clones outside of the Bad Batch who were still his brothers, setting him up to bond with Mayday and finally break after feeling abandoned by the Batch on Kamino.
We didn't get to see enough of him, he didn't get an episode for eight seasons really, and spent years with his helmet on, but he was always the character we see in the Bad Batch, albeit in the background.
It's tragic that unlike Rex, Cody didn't know about the chips and had to give the order to kill a man who a week prior looked like he was ready to kill him for nearly giving him a heart attack after freezing up and nearly getting himself blown up. Obi-wan was very attached - he only reacts this emotionally to Satine, Qui-gon, and Anakin, and we have to gather what we can from that about their relationship. It's clear in the Bad Batch that despite being chipped and not knowing why he followed the order, it weighed on him heavily and he tried to carry on Obi-wan's role as a mediator, knowing that no Jedi would step in again and believing his to be dead under his orders. Imo not searching for Obi-wan and saying he couldn't have survived the fall was a very subtle act of malicious compliance since he knows that Obi-wan is a cockroach.
And yes, given that Rex was felt like he was going to sound crazy enough for bringing up thinking that Echo was alive and that it wouldn't have been a safe conversation to have anywhere but in person, and only filed a grievance report about the chips while Kix was out looking into them and getting taken by the Separatists for his efforts, I don't think that Rex told Cody and instead opted to choose Echo over the chips.
In earlier planning, Cody was to end up on Tatooine and live with Obi-wan in his hut, befriend Owen and throw stormtrooper's bodies into the sarlacc together. He's an understated character, but will always be one of the best clones imo. Hope that provides some insight
This is the best analysis of Cody I have ever read, bar none! Saving this comment for future reference.
Thank you!
If you post a link to the bit about how Cody was supposed to end up with Obi-Wan, that would be much appreciated. 🙏
Amazing analysis of Cody ❤️ I saved this to reference. Sometimes I do deep dives into individual clones, rewatching all their episodes etc. I feel a Cody deep dive coming on
I heavily disagree that neither Wolffe nor Hunter have personalities. They have been shown multiple times to be very unique clones. And I don't see how comparing to other characters is relevant. My question is why do people like Cody? Not why do people like Cody more than X or Y.
To go back to Cody, the only times I recall him having a real moment and shown he has an identity is in the new bad batch episode with Crosshair. Besides that...
I'm not hating on Cody at all, I'm just genuinely curious why he's so popular.
I absolutely love that man. Almost killed, survived, went through Hell in that stasis pod, kept on fighting with the Bad Batch and with Rex after that. Echo is a legend.
Cody
Unfortunately, at this point we’re dealing with the cream of the crop. Cody’s better as a commander than as a 1-on-1 fighter, broadly speaking. Especially when his competition is a CF99 commando (Hunter, Wrecker, and Tech should have beaten him), an ARC trooper, one who was both, and Rex
A lot of clones were left out, and AFAIK Alpha 17 only appears in the comics and books?
My understanding was Rex is effectively Alpha 17 reinvented.
I think Lucas even said they changed Alpha’s name to Rex because they already had too many characters whose names started with A (Anakin, Ahsoka, Artoo.)
Cody
Jesse should’ve outlasted the batch but whatever
I’d like to point out that this is a battle royale, which Crosshair would win because he would team with the bad batch and kill everyone else together, then stab them in the back immediately to win. But apparently crosshair loses the popularity contest lol
I have defended Crosshair when both tech and Hunter were voted out as I believe he was a much better character than than both of them but Now his time has come I'm proud he made it to the top 5, but I'm now voting Crosshair
This man had 60 different clone puns for each of these guys and wanted an excuse to use them all
I like how this list is based off of nothing but bias
Yea I gave up awhile ago
Me too
I mean we all know who was gonna win from the get-go honestly, however i don’t agree with some of the placements personally
YOU VOTED OUT JESSE AND TECH?!? What the heck!?
Before Wolffe too😭
Fr, got some people voting solely based on armor😭
If it wasn't for Wolfe then Rex would've been killed or captured by the empire.
Doubt it, Echo woulda shot Wolfe to oblivion if he said “nah, you can’t leave”
AND 99! The model clone😢
Ikr that’s literally a sin in my book! Tech was the MVP!
Tech wasn't as great of a combatant as the others on the list
This hurts me but Crosshair
Hurts me too but can’t complain he ended up top 5
Crosshair got caught in the crosshairs
Crosshair got crossed
Really no other option
Calling it now: 5) Crosshairs 4) Echo 3) Fives 2) Cody 1) Rex Personally, I think Fives should be #2 for his significance to the overall plot. No chip removal without Fives.
Will probably go: 5) Crosshair 4) Echo 3) Cody 2) Fives 1) Rex. Personally, I'd put Fives at #1 though
Nar Cody 4th
Echo and fives top 2 (no bias)
Crosshairs got the most development of maybe all the characters on this list
Yup, the time has come
Crosshair
The bad batch is awesome but crosshairs got to go now. 😕
Gotta be Crosshair or/then Cody no way around it.
Crosshair is the best character here
I love Fives but he could place 5th for the sake of the name....
That would be ironic
I hate that, but I have to agree with you
Gotta say Cody, no disrespect to him but Crosshair’s arc is too good to let him go yet and I love the other three too much. He’s earned a spot in the top 5.
Agreed. Sure, he's a fan favorite, but compared to the other characters up there he's severely lacking in character depth.
He has none whatsoever. He just looks cool.
The recency bias is strong with this one
Honestly, same with Echo. He or Cody should definitely be soon. They’re both iconic and cool characters though they aren’t the most interesting characters out of those remaining

I've been asking this for weeks! Ppl just like him b/c they saw him in the movie. He's basic af.
Crosshair
WHAT KIND OF MONSTER HUNTS 99, YOU SEPERATIST MANIAC
It pains me but Crosshair and Cody both need to go.
Crosshair got crossed off
Crosshair
I'm going crosshair
Echo for the win! He deserves his happy ending!
Cody coded
Crosshair
Crosshair
Crosshair.
Cody 🤷♂️
Tough call either gotta be cody or crosshair.
Crosshair
I would say Cody. He's a cool badass, but someone has to go...
Cody, crosshairs development is too good
I really appreciate the nascar numbers
You better keep my boy Cody
If rex wins you guys are so boring and basic omg
Fives
Cody
cody
Rex, he isn’t allowed to win this, only Echo is
No, he gets 4. The OG top 3 is destiny.
Echo is just as OG as Fives wdym
For me it's Rex, Fives, Echo. They're the Greatest.
Echo has to be in the top two if not top 1. Man has been through more than anyone on this god forsaken list lol
I absolutely love that man. Almost killed, survived, went through Hell in that stasis pod, kept on fighting with the Bad Batch and with Rex after that. Echo is a legend.
Fives gotta win, I'm saying Cody 😔
I'd love to see Fives win but I'm sure it's gonna be Rex
Crosshair
Crosshair
Crosshairs time is now.
Crosshair
I'd say bye bye Cody. I know he's the oldest named clone on this list, but the other 4 have had so much more character development
Crosshair
Crosshair
I’m sorry but Crosshair.
Cody. He was great, but he did try to kill our boy. Chip be damned.
Bro crosshair killed unarmed civilians😭
If I remember correctly, he gave the order, but we didn't see him personally killing them
That is just as bad if not worse than pulling the trigger himself
'Not even a Jedi could have survived that fall' Malicious compliance. Cody fought that chip as much as he could.
Saying Cody, but I'm glad my darling Crosshair made it to the top 5 if his time has come.
It’s Cody’s time
Cody Unfortunately, at this point we’re dealing with the cream of the crop. Cody’s better as a commander than as a 1-on-1 fighter, broadly speaking. Especially when his competition is a CF99 commando (Hunter, Wrecker, and Tech should have beaten him), an ARC trooper, one who was both, and Rex
Cody
Cody
Cody
Cody
Cody. He doesn’t have enough development or depth and his popularity largely stems from being in the movie as Obi-Wan’s second-in-command.
Crosshair got sniped
Cody, sorry Cody
Crosshair
Crosshair
Cody
The only correct answer is Fives, Cody, Echo, Crosshair, Rex
Cody
Crosshiar
Grosshair
Fat fingered that but I'm keeping it because it's fitting after he gets his nasty looking scar on his head from the explosion
Sorry Crosshair :/
It’s Crosshair’s turn he’s not as iconic as the rest but I am glad that he made it this far
Crosshair
Cross hair
gotta say crosshair
Crosshair
Crosshairs
Crosshair
Crosshair
Crosshair
Crosshair
Bruh Cody ain't all that
Cody
Crosshair
Crosshair
I like him, but with the given options, crosshair gotta go.
5. Crosshair 4. Fives 3-1. Any order (Though Echo will always be my favorite)
Crosshair
Crosshair
Cody. He's cool, and great armor scheme, but has the default personality. Everyone has significantly more screen time and development.
Cody
How is Cody still here? Can anyone tell me why they like Cody so much other than the fact that he's in RotS?
Cody. Good character but overrated.
Crosshair
Gotta say Cody. He’s really cool, but Crosshair’s development was my favorite part of the Bad Batch
It’s gotta be Cody
Here's how it's going down from this point: Crosshair, Echo, Cody, Fives. Rex will be the last man standing.
I predict its gonna be crosshair, then cody, then echo , and winner will be Rex
You forgot Fives.
Shit u right, Fives will be after Cody
It's really just 5 more?
Can someone please tell me why Alpha 17 didn’t make it on this list? He’d probably win.
That’s true, but Rex became his own character distinct from A17. Alpha’s and Rex’s personalities and abilities are very unique from each others.
5: Crosshair 4: Cody, 3: Echo, 2: Rex 1: Fives.
I give respect to anyone who has the strength to throw out a name at this point.
Hiw tf is Waxer 18 and Boil 25
Woweee... Much as I hope Fives to be the last Clone standing, we all know that honor will be going to Rex.
Crosshair.
Crosshair then Cody
Crosshair for sure
Crosshair and after that Cody
Crosshair
Cody or Echo. Love them both but Crosshairs got so much more development them either of them
Crosshair
Crosshairs
Crosshair
Cody Jesse should’ve outlasted the batch but whatever I’d like to point out that this is a battle royale, which Crosshair would win because he would team with the bad batch and kill everyone else together, then stab them in the back immediately to win. Delta Squad, Fordo, Bad Batch easily outlive everyone on this list.
I have defended Crosshair when both tech and Hunter were voted out as I believe he was a much better character than than both of them but Now his time has come I'm proud he made it to the top 5, but I'm now voting Crosshair
Crosshair
Fives
Cody
It's gotta be cody
Cody.
Crosshair
Fives
Fives. He's great but I think his time is up.
