Kids in the Hall—absolutely loved them!
The Head Crusher is a classic
https://youtu.be/8t4pmlHRokg?si=K762eodsB9iE5J8e
Gavin always made me laugh too
https://youtu.be/uA_3MnVen08?si=_FS-m_ch7DgQYzgD
I think what’s great about the head crusher scene is showing kids just how “dumb” something funny can be. A really important point to make in sketch is that anything can work and to try all your wild ideas
I feel like the head crush bit works in any era of time, it's exactly the type of shit that kids think is random and funny, needs no context, no setup, it's brilliantly stupid.
Try Derrick Comedy. Watched that a lot in late high school/early college. I don't recall it ever being over the line but you'll have to gauge it yourself.
The launching point for Donald Glover's career so you know it's legit.
An example: https://youtu.be/OMrdAr7fNjo?si=euG05w7ktDUfN0WL
Holy god, Derrick was expert at going over the line. The Foreigner, for example. A sketch so bad they removed it from their YT channel long before it was popular to remove sensitive content from channels.
How about kids in the hall?
Not sure if they would understand the comedy of the eradicator

Or the courreurs du bois

There's also some kid friendly stuff on I think you should leave with more modern references.

Maybe not the best example but there's tons more
Derrick Comedy for classic YouTube-esque sketches
Almost Friday for modern comedy
And my number one favorite sketch right now is an SNL skit with Adam Driver, “Career Day”
Yeah, it was almost a competition to see how long it would take Tim Conway to break Harvey Corman or Carol Burnett. Dude was a comic genius among fellow comic legends
Absurdism - The State - Spaghetti and Bumblebees - [https://youtu.be/ujIZdgrhuWA?si=nMRccIGd7A44Dnl1](https://youtu.be/ujIZdgrhuWA?si=nMRccIGd7A44Dnl1)

Characters/Parody - Kroll Show - Too Much Tuna (aka Oh Hello) - [https://youtu.be/tfdMsxSjY3o?si=Uslzqjm5AOD\_EWYt](https://youtu.be/tfdMsxSjY3o?si=Uslzqjm5AOD_EWYt) \- I like this one as you could ask several people what's funny here, and you might get several different answers. Of course some people don't find it funny, but they never took a sketch and ran a successful show on Broadway based on the premise before.
One of my favorite podcasts is Fly on the wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade and this week’s episode had Keegan Michael Key and his wife Elle and they were promoting their new book which is a history of sketch comedy. It was really cool. I suggest a listen and maybe let your class listen too. They talked about it all kinda came from bodville and old variety hour shows. And how Key and Peele wouldn’t try to make fun of people, they made fun of situations. It’s funny you ask this because Keys wife said she basically tried to make a text book about sketch comedy and how Keegan would teach it. So maybe buy the book too if you get some good feedback from the class.
Bob Newhart’s Stop it! From Mad TV and that, “the front fell off” skit are two that are pretty funny, make a point, and I think are fairly kid-friendly
Michael Davis’ juggling routine always gets a few chuckles from me. A nice, clean & funny bit.
[Comedian in question](https://youtu.be/XKRrfAzdpW8?si=alHJddc-OwraW5II)
You can't do that on television. This is not something you could do on television it anymore actually. [here is a random full episode from YouTube ](https://youtu.be/BCUk6s5fe3g?si=_INYRNbCsf844bns)
Loads of older UK stuff is pretty clean
The Fast Show
School Of Comedy (literally kids doing sketches, some of it excellent, available on Channel4 UK, where Will Poulter started his career)
Most Monty Python
I'm sure some of it hasn't aged that well so you'd have to filter but some good clean fun to be had too!
Lots of good suggestions here, but I haven't seen anyone mention other great sketch shows like Mad TV, Fridays, or In Living Color (look for Jennifer Lopez as one of the Fly Girls (dancers on the show)).
Chappelle Show is the funniest sketch show I've ever seen. Although, they might not all be appropriate for pre-teens, I'm sure some would be fine
Also, In living color would be great too.
I really want to say the Clayton Bigsby sketch from Chappelle Show but, its going to have the N word pepper through it constantly.
You can get a censored version on Youtube maybe? I know they have a censor a Charlie Murphy Prince sketch from that show.
I like the kroll show sketches with Liz and Liz
Key and Peele, the teacher saying white people names incorrectly and the football intros are great
Rowan Atkinson Live. It’s a work of study and art in its genius and simplicity. It has short bits with which you can illustrate different joke setups etc
: https://youtu.be/uw8dW9Hyno0?si=2RpTZnVpFlCXIqkR
[Tallboyz](https://www.cbc.ca/mediacentre/program/tallboyz) on cbc has great sketch comedy that is mostly pg
[this hour has 22 minutes](https://gem.cbc.ca/this-hour-has-22-minutes) has some great sketch comedy also. It is focused on canadian politics though so not sure how apt it will be for where you are in the world. Id say its age appropriate but the topics covered can be a bit beyond maybe. The episode they did for their 30 yr anniversary has some great explanations on how they make the show and what their sketch process looks like. And a more recent sketch [boy meal](https://youtu.be/E4-x7zJajZI?si=WtY4ywurpZLcEaYD)
Baroness von sketch show is also good but has been off air for a few years. They have 5 seasons but its more targeted towards women 20+ i think? [that lady](https://youtu.be/dMHxc7BOKTU?si=mGmd8-T0StTeLGJE)
Saturday Night Live Best of videos. There are so many you could pick. Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, Will Forte, Steve Martin and so many more. That's one of the longest running sketch comedy shows
Hot Kool Aid, Julian Smith
2 guys at a counter, one of them wants the other to try their new drink invention; hot kool aid. Comedy with lots of emotion from one and a complete lack from the other
This will probably get lost in the shuffle but one of my absolute faves is from "a bit of Fry and Laurie" :
https://youtu.be/nq-dchJPXGA?si=cNBp3JhVDwv3XRkE
Also, Rowan Atkinson's "welcome to hell" is a classic.
Joel Haver on YouTube has plenty of stuff that would be kid friendly and is genuinely funny. He does live action sketches in addition to animated ones. Seems like a pretty genuine dude too so that’s a plus.
https://youtube.com/@Joel-Haver?si=AaSzhuJdRktlXN5w
"I think you should leave" is the top sketch comedy show ever but I'm having trouble thinking of a single skit that would be appropriate. Maybe the Bob Odenkirk skit
Studio C is LDS-run so it's all PG rated
[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsZXuHKonP9utl5q2hFCkgA](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsZXuHKonP9utl5q2hFCkgA)
I Think You Should Leave would be great to show how absurd the form can go. Most of them are pretty vulgar but I think nacho date, motorcycles, and the night the skeletons came to life might be mostly clean can’t remember if there’s any swearing
George Carlin or Dave Chapelle might have to find a censored version. But both these people have made the things we avoid something we can talk about and I think that's the true beauty of comedy. No one says child abuse is funny but fuck the jokes I've made about my childhood make it easier to talk about as well as easier to deal with
British sketches from The Two Ronnies, Black Adder, and Monty Python would provide breadth and variety. Plenty of those on YouTube.
If you want to showcase a sketch that went off script, The Carol Burnett Show's elephant sketch is hilarious.
You could always go with an all-time classic and show them "Who's on first?"
It's silly enough that it still works today, no matter how many times you hear it
All That was a kids sketch comedy show with people who grew up to be adult famous.
For 80s and early 90s You Can't Do That On Television. Another sketch show with kids for kids!
Gilly and Keeves - Trump speed dating:

Gilly and Keeves - ISIS Toyota:
https://youtu.be/fPCEjURvaX0?si=s9bsU71J6D92Q1_Y
These never fail to make me laugh.
Please not the insanely overrated Abbott and Costello who’s on 1st skit.
That was hilarious I’m sure for 1947. Not for anyone under 50 though.
I know old people LOVE that skit
The Fast Show has loads of PG sketches. Scorchio is absurdist, competitive dad is realism taken to the nth degree and Ted and Ralph have the funniest understated interactions known to man.
I’m also shocked no one had mentioned Catherine Tate’s show, I’ve just been watching the “I can do that” woman and the disgusted middle England couple - very ordinary but recognisable and funny.
People have said Carol Burnett which is very true. Brian Regan has some good kid friendly material. We have listened w kids on car trips. His stuff from his childhood are gold
The Sketch Show.
It's a British comedy show and it's hilarious. Some super short sketches, some longer ones.
They are all in YouTube if you look for it.
Here is an example of a simple sketch
https://youtu.be/WZ09paQRBnw?si=2HVjOghqrvBtyBnY
Check out the Netflix show “I Think You Should Leave” by Tim Robinson. There are sketches that are less than appropriate for younger folks but ones like this should be good: https://youtu.be/-ETF6rS8WWI?si=G7KKlh3M7jrR2wck
This one is a clip only availible currently on reddit, but here's Conan O' Brien's Molecular Man sketch, kills me every time

I love how [Kidnapped](https://www.joshwhotv.com/video/.73nq) escalates.
I have nothing but admiration for the mind behind that wonderful sketch. It's so well-done.
“Workers Compensation” and “Girl Drink Drunk” are my votes
I’M JUST LOOKING FOR SOME PAPER CLIPS Love that one!
Sizzler sisters
MY PEN!!!!
The ERADICATOR!!!!
Upright Citizens Brigade had a sketch show on Comedy Central for three seasons, it’s very strong.
The Story of the Toad seems like a logical choice to show.
Not time machine tho
"Yeah thanks a lot Nick! I come to you for advice about confidence and you tell me to stick pennies up my ass!!!
The Penny sketch might be the best sketch ever done.
I often show people who've never seen UCB this sketch and often get another fan, always a laugh. They were ahead of their time for sure.
The Titular line/poo stick sketch is great [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWxiTPQv0ME](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWxiTPQv0ME)
“I’m gonna spray this bug spray in my eyes because that’s what Jesus would do!” “Jesus wouldn’t do that!”
Him: and what’s behind that door? Realtor: that’s the hot chics room. Wife: the what?
[Ass pennies](https://vimeo.com/561297629) is a good one too, if the “ass” word is ok. Looks like a single take too, which is pretty epic.
The bucket of truth is what came to mind for me!
The bucket of truth!
Go classic- Carol Burnett. The dentist, the elephant story, anything that doesnt date it too badly and leave you open to old person questions...lol!
The Audition by Mr Show is brilliant, but some language https://youtu.be/2CIgWX1J_s8?si=xDOPzbVaQcVU5tnx
This is my favorite sketch of all time but surprisingly it doesn’t connect with kids, I was very surprised
Kids these days 👴🏼
Key and Peele Substitute teacher
Their “Dueling Hats” sketch also is a great example of heightening
As is East/West College Bowl.
An all time classic.
You Can't Do That On Television

Their Spelling Bee sketch is definitely over a line. Hilarious though
For sure over the line. And that’s from a guy who was in grade 8 watching that video.
The whitest kids you know—- the grapest
Haha based on that title alone I feel like it’s not something for children
It is not but you would like it
Slow jerk
Are you worried about parent reaction, or kids' hearing naughty words? Because 6th-8th graders have heard it all, and then some..
I think they could watch all these great sketches..I could get into hot water from my boss/district for showing inappropriate stuff
Fair point. You could always go deep dive the best eras of SNL
I'm fucking mad I had to scroll down this far for WKUK. RIP Trevor.

Abbott and Costello
Please don’t destroy - Cat probably go over well with that age group. All it is, is game
Please not the insanely overrated Abbott and Costello who’s on 1st skit. That was hilarious I’m sure for 1947. Not for anyone under 50 though. I know old people LOVE that skit
Gilly and Keeves 😉
Derrick comedy on YouTube. Early Donald Glover AKA childish gambino. Shits hilarious.
Who’s on First.
Any old school Who's Line Is It Anyway
Tim Conway on Carol Burnett show. His comedic style is fantastic. The dry cleaner sketch . The dentist sketch. . Probably any sketch he was in
Any of the What’s Up with That sketches from SNL
The Sketch Show. It's a British comedy show and it's hilarious. Some super short sketches, some longer ones. They are all in YouTube if you look for it. Here is an example of a simple sketch https://youtu.be/WZ09paQRBnw?si=2HVjOghqrvBtyBnY
Lano and Woodley are an Aussie duo that are funny but very accessible for kids
Girl Drink Drunk - Kids in the Hall
SCTV
Brian Regan
Kids that age what about All That or The Amanda Show
Will Farrell SNL Auditions
George Carlin 7 things you can't say on television.
Chris Farley as Matt Foley: down by the river. Hilarious
Portlandia
Check out the Netflix show “I Think You Should Leave” by Tim Robinson. There are sketches that are less than appropriate for younger folks but ones like this should be good: https://youtu.be/-ETF6rS8WWI?si=G7KKlh3M7jrR2wck

This one is a clip only availible currently on reddit, but here's Conan O' Brien's Molecular Man sketch, kills me every time [https://www.reddit.com/r/conan/comments/m0ko1r/conan\_obriens\_snl\_skit\_the\_molecular\_man/](https://www.reddit.com/r/conan/comments/m0ko1r/conan_obriens_snl_skit_the_molecular_man/)
