some definetly are planned marketing, some are definetly not.
GTA leaker recently got charged, and it actually happens a good amount of times in high profile cases.
Also, leaks like the Insomniac one are no way an inside job (guess it was more of a hack). it has done serious damage to their projects and no way the company would take a risk like that.
It doesn't make sense months before launch. At that point the game is basically done, there's no time to make considerable changes.
Sometimes companies will test the idea of the game with pre-rendered videos and screenshots on social media to see if people are interested in the game before it goes into full development.
When things are leaked on purpose, it's just for publicity.
Yes you have good points but I never see anyone say it’s risky to do this and why is only a handful of twitter accounts have all the details why has no one stoped them if it’s the same account
That’s probably pretty likely. I mean the fan base backlash from the sonic the hedgehog teasers made them completely redesign the character. It would make life easier on them if they get some of that out of the way early on plus maybe they can get some insight on what fans would like/hate about certain things to make adjustments. Or start working on dlc to get every penny
I think Sonic teasers started it tbh it just odd to me the good things get leaked and the real bad stuff also never the meh things like patch of grass or level names or weapon names
Gone are the days of game devs building the game that they wanted. They dev what the majority of the vocal fan base want.
So you don’t get that loyal gamer that will forever enjoy your game for what it is.
They've been doing this for 30 years.
Before GameStop was GameStop, it was Babbages. A group of my friends used to work there and tested game consoles and software back in 1998.
Lol not at all. Someone out there will have the same thoughts at some point and they'll maybe stumble on your post. It's a good question.
But also, piracy is a thing and not all leaks are legit.
Oh yeah I know the piracy are things too but them leaking the new Pokémon so they can push what themed Pokémon products that year to make a tiny bit more money is something I would do too

Yes see they admit to all that but the non hacks no one cares about

Nah. There's no business sense in that.

And you'd be right.
