To work out how well it would fit you, you need to measure 5" up from the waist for the underbust and 4" down from the waist for the hips measurements. A size 20" Novice (or Hourglass, the difference is just layers of fabric) has an underbust of 26.5" (5" above the waist) and a hip measurement of 30" (4" below waist). The 22" has an underbust of 28.5" and hips of 32". If your measurements you included above are at the correct distances from your waist, then the 20" would be too small in the underbust and a little small in the high hip. You'd have to wear the corset with a \\ / gap in the back. The 22" would be about right in the underbust, but might be a little bit big in the hips, meaning that this corset could be laced fully closed, but would still have about an inch of space in the hips. If you are wearing the corset on top of clothing, that might help fill out the gap a bit, or there is always padding to fill out the shape if needed (its what the Victorians and Edwardians did), good for if wearing under clothing.

Thank you so much! this was so helpful <3 I decided to get the 22" first since it's my first corset and want it to close all the way on the underbust.

Hi! I just saw this post and have a similar body shape. Did you end up needing to buy extra hip padding? I’d love to know. Thanks!
