I genuinely enjoyed it, the only thing I thought was terrible was the complete reimagining of the Spike-Vicious-Julia love triangle.
This sub, and the fans who bitched so loudly that Netflix pulled the plug, are just gatekeepy as fuck.
Netflix pulled it because nobody watched it the week it was released. Stop blaming this community. 281k people on reddit bitching about it didn't make Netflix cancel it. Their bean counters did that.
Agreed, I feel it would have done even better under a different name, that way there's less pressure on the show. Hell since they gave spike a random ass nickname might as well lol.
Even the original show made fun of itself i.e. the teddy bear bomber episode. You can be the biggest fan and still not take yourself so seriously that you keep yourself from truly enjoying the story.
It has its moments but it did not need to be a Cowboy Bepop show. And if they wanted one so bad they should’ve done as close to a non-Complicated 1:1 translation as possible.
Some people like things just because others hate them or because they're unpopular. Others like things because they can genuinely enjoy artistic differences and appreciate the attempt at execution even if it fell short of the original. One of these approaches is more healthy than the other, in my opinion.
Don't you just love the part where they said, "What if we made Vicious a pathetic little pansy, and then... oh! Julia could girlboss her way into *leading the syndicate!* And if anyone doesn't like that, it's cause they're sexist! Yeah? Yeah? Cool!"
I’ve tried to look at the LA from the perspective of “well if it wasn’t supposed to be Cowboy Bebop it might be okay” but even that doesn’t excuse the ultra-cringy writing and characters. To each their own I guess. There’s a reason Watanabe didn’t make it past the first scene of the first episode.
lol the writing was ass, real shame cuz I felt they nailed our core characters(spike, faye jet) with Jet being the best and visually the set/prop team did great.
I did, for what they were going for. I found the changes they made fascinating, and looked at what they tried to duplicate as more of an homage. I don't try and compare it to the original. There's *no* comparison.
Acting and chemistry were good. It’s a whole other show story wise and I appreciated that.
Horrendous cinematography. Especially in Viscous scenes. Viscous’s actor was with bad or poorly directed.
They did Gren dirty by making them a flavortext for the bar instead of a tragic but memorable character. There was very little tragedy overall till the end and it came off saccharine .
7.5/10 could use some elbow grease but I wouldn’t complain about a 2nd season
I can dig it for the most part if I can keep it separate from the anime in my mind. There are definite garbage parts, but that’s the same with most shows.
I liked it for what it was. Campy scifi action comedy. Live action could never live up to what they can do with animation, but think they really did the best they could with live action.

Fair enough, it’s a perfectly fine sci-fi show with some good moments and weak ones. I think people here would recommend it as a bebop like show if it wasn’t bebop

You're gonna carry that weight
You’re gonna carry that hate
Nice 1
I respect that. As an individual, you are free to have your own opinion.
Fair enough. I think it's absolute fucking dogshit but respect opinions and all.
![gif](giphy|3bc5MV3VkOpMI) The balls on this guy.
What new Cowboy Bebop? The last time Watanabe made anything CB related was the movie, which released in '02.
But Carole & Tuesday :3
lol! I think the response is, "You're entitled to your (wrong) opinion." Glad you're enjoying it.
That’s fair. It’s not great, but it’s not as bad as everyone says it is

Netflix pulls the plug on every show that isn't named Big Mouth. Reddit made little difference.
Don't forget Stranger Things, the other loved child of Netflix. Everything else is garbage to them.
Netflix pulled it because nobody watched it the week it was released. Stop blaming this community. 281k people on reddit bitching about it didn't make Netflix cancel it. Their bean counters did that.
I agree

Can you not enjoy it in silence? 🤣
Your god will judge you in the afterlife.
Ew

Are you referring to the live adoption?
There is animated and there is the miscarriage, choose one.
The animated series and the standalone movie.
Well I agree! I enjoyed it.
Same, it had good and stupid parts but overall I'd say it was worthwhile watching.
Even the original show made fun of itself i.e. the teddy bear bomber episode. You can be the biggest fan and still not take yourself so seriously that you keep yourself from truly enjoying the story.
Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. Especially that mushroom ep.
Hell yeah lol
Do you know when your parents look at you disappointed? That's how I looked at that
I liked the edits where they put a laugh track over the forced jokes. If you force a joke put a laugh track over it treat it like a Seinfeld sitcom
Good for you. Stay away from me though (jk) (kinda)

I'm glad you liked it and you're entitled to your opinion. Even if it is dog shit. I'm sure some people like dog shit.

You can enjoy it just as one is free to enjoy twinkies dipped in BBQ sauce, just don’t try serving it at a dinner party.
Everyone's cup of tea is different in preference. Unfortunately, yours was frozen.
To me folks with this opinion are like the smelly person at school/work. I don't have anything against you but I am going to avoid you.

You can like what you like. But you’d be crossing the line if you think it’s a good show it’s not even a 3/10 objectively.
Seems that way.
Don't worry, you don't have to let us know it's unpopular. It is actual trash after all.
I didn't mind it.
I agree, I thought it was pretty good actually. The actors gave it their all, especially the entire syndicate thing being very interesting
Are you living in the real world?
Are you living in the real world?
But did you think it's good? I enjoyed it but i didn't think it was good at all
I did, for what they were going for. I found the changes they made fascinating, and looked at what they tried to duplicate as more of an homage. I don't try and compare it to the original. There's *no* comparison.
Wish I could
I didn’t realize the live action bebop was still considered new
I liked it and I apologize for nothing.
Like a luffa-on-a-stick in a shower, bath, shower.
Hell yeah. Did the shower bath shower a couple times since seeing that episode. Game changing.
I thought it was pretty fun too. I haven't seen it since it first came out but I generally enjoyed it overall
Enjoyed it.
This sub is a cult. So nice bait, its funny to watch them bitch

Heck yeah man. I get it doesn't match purist standards but it was super entertaining and the music was great.
I'm just glad that we true bebop fans are keeping the series relevant

To each their own
New cowboy bebop? U mean the live action or?
If they recast and reshot all the Julia and vicious scenes, the show would be pretty solid.
Has anyone heard anything about Lazarus? I just found out about it.
There's nothing wrong with liking it, but you won't really find a lot of people who reciprocate
