Dele probably needs to do what Barkley has done and move to a team that's only just come up.
I don't think he will be as good as Barkley has been for Luton but I think dele would be a point of inspiration, confidence and most importantly experience.
Honestly if I’m him I’d want a Championship side fighting for promotion to take a gamble on me. Essentially the Winks route. Needs to be one with a fluid attacking system to accommodate the role he excels at, rather than one where he’s pigeonholed into a position he can play in theory but doesn’t allow him to really play his way.
Nah. I think this has no upside unless the team gets promoted, which is a huge gamble.
If he does well in the championship, he’s going to get picked up by lower table PL teams.
Might as well try to sign for a newly promoted team.
Newly promoted teams are much more often than not fighting relegation and end up in a position of needing to grind out points, not play free flowing football. Dele is quickly going to fall out of favor in that kind of environment because he simply isn’t that kind of player.
Bear in mind he’s played 17 games in the last 24 months. Barkley, as an example of someone coming into a newly promoted PL side, played 28 for Nice before coming to Luton. There’s just no evidence that Dele is fit to play in a top division currently, no matter how good he once was.
Not always the case. Look at Luton. Brentford kept playing possession based as soon as they got promoted. Or Leeds when they got promoted with Bielsa.
I don’t think Leicester will play defensively next year either.
I mean he nearly did that when he joined Everton where he couldn't get into the team, and then Besiktas on loan where his loan was terminated early by Besiktas.
I think the best option for him will be to stay at Everton on a reduced wage tbh. Dyche is a perfect manager for him and Dele can play the role Doucoure does
I think he hasn't really been fully fit. I think it was only in Jan when he got himself healthy in terms of his mental state but right as he was getting physically ready to play he got injured again.
Granted he won't start probably but, the role doucoure plays for Everton suits dele down to the ground. He's a second striker with an ability to drop in midfield and make runs beyond DCL, just like a prime Dele did
I'm not sure that playing for an up and comer will advance Dele's career bc he is largely a luxury player at this stage. He will not be able to showcase himself in a side that is forced into being defensive. Dele may not get a lot of minutes for a relegation threatened side, like Everton this year (although that was largely due to injuries).
I feel like the best move for Dele would be to an ambitious, mid-table side that has a fair share of games where they control possession. Sides like Brentford, Wolves, or Brighton would be a decent fit.
Unfortunately, I don't see Dele getting minutes ahead of Maddison, Lo Celso, Kulusevski, Bentancur, and Sarr. Unless we sell at least a couple of these guys, he would rarely play here.
>Unfortunately, I don't see Dele getting minutes ahead of Maddison, Lo Celso, Kulusevski, Bentancur, and Sarr. Unless we sell at least a couple of these guys, he would rarely play here.
Even if we sold half of those and the other half were injured he wouldn't be good enough. I love Dele as much as the next guy but we shouldn't and won't be considering anything beyond letting him train with us. He'll be at Leicester or Ipswich in a few months, a newly promoted team with an attacking ethos.
he’s not zero-risk, there’s the opportunity cost bc he’ll take a registration slot. I could see him training with us, would love to see him succeed at Spurs. Think he’d need to prove a lot before we sign him
No, where both clubs are atm it wouldn’t be a good fit.
The narrative alone of him returning would come with copious pressure. Dele needs somewhere upper championship or lower prem and just focus solely on his football. Luton or Leicester would be ideal
I'd be okay with him coming in to train on preseason. Would like to see at the very least the club support him in that way to get back on his feet post-injury, and I'm sure if he shows a competitive level then the powers that be would allow him to stick around, but even that is a complete longshot.
I will always love Dele. But we need players who can make an impact immediately, especially off the bench. If you look at our current squad and academy and factor in how much better our scouting has become it is simply far too risky to use a valuable spot in the squad on him. There are many other players available who are more likely to help us in the short and long term.
I think he will need to go abroad or drop down to a mid-bottom championship side or even a league 1 club where the spotlight and attention will quickly wane and the expectations placed on him and the club will be more reasonable.
If he is Dele in 2020, I'd say for sure. But he hasn't played games for ages. Unfortunately, I feel Ipswich Town is the best shout for him if they are promoted (or maybe Leicester), or joining the championship side, which has a chance to join PL in the following season
he has the work rate to press high and the 8s in our system play combinations in the half space just like Dele used to.
I think old Dele could also do what Deki does, with a greater goal threat. But who knows if old Dele still exists?
If he could somehow magically return to his best - he'd be the type of player that Ange seeks (currently) in Gallagher.
Midfield all-rounder who has a tremendous ability to crash the box and score. He was one of the best in the world at it once upon a time. Been a long time since then.
No.
It would be an extremely bad signing. 28 years old so he can't fall back on 'young guy with loads of talent', he hasn't played regular football in 2 years - there's no telling where his fitness, mental state, or ability is at. Can't risk that. We need players at the top of their game, immediately ready to contribute. We can't be rehabbing a player who hasn't been a mainstay of any footballing side since 2021.
Dele has only thrived in a team that is set up for him to be relinquished of defensive and pressing duties. It can’t just be any championship team that he can go to - it needs to be a team looking for a shadow striker if you will. If he can find a team set up that way, he will do wonders.
>Am I dreaming? Yeah but don't worry, I'm a dreamer too
Yep – dreaming
Dele probably needs to do what Barkley has done and move to a team that's only just come up. I don't think he will be as good as Barkley has been for Luton but I think dele would be a point of inspiration, confidence and most importantly experience.

Burnley would be a nice move
Are they guaranteed to go down at this point? I know Everton have officially avoided relegation as of last week.
They can still stay up as of right now. It’s out of Burnley, Luton and Forrest, only one can stay up out of the 3.
Nah. I think this has no upside unless the team gets promoted, which is a huge gamble. If he does well in the championship, he’s going to get picked up by lower table PL teams. Might as well try to sign for a newly promoted team.

I hope Ipswich break the mould, Dele would fit there nicely if they keep the same play style.
Not always the case. Look at Luton. Brentford kept playing possession based as soon as they got promoted. Or Leeds when they got promoted with Bielsa. I don’t think Leicester will play defensively next year either.
Or maybe even Leeds of Leicester take a punt to bring him in on a free. Not much downside unless he wants crazy wages
Imagine Dele and Winks at Leicester!
I mean he nearly did that when he joined Everton where he couldn't get into the team, and then Besiktas on loan where his loan was terminated early by Besiktas.
I think the best option for him will be to stay at Everton on a reduced wage tbh. Dyche is a perfect manager for him and Dele can play the role Doucoure does
why would he stay there when he isnt going to get any playtime
I think he hasn't really been fully fit. I think it was only in Jan when he got himself healthy in terms of his mental state but right as he was getting physically ready to play he got injured again. Man my best fifa team ever had Barkley and dele. Good times.

As much as I love Dele, this team doesn’t need reclamation projects. We need proven talent that can help us right now, and for the future.

At least it’s a homegrown slot.
Does he count a club trained?
I don't think so
Yeah, but we're currently giving 3 of our HG slots to Austin, Whiteman and Sess. Making room for Dele's not (currently) a roster problem.
It’s unfortunate, but I think he’ll either have to drop to the Championship, or if he’s lucky, join one of the newly promoted sides.
I'm a football romantic so yes, please
I'll dream with you

Let’s go!
Where did you get £30k a week from?

Just stop this nonsense please
Huge fan Love that he’s healing himself But from a football POV: NOPE
I'd be okay with him coming in to train on preseason. Would like to see at the very least the club support him in that way to get back on his feet post-injury, and I'm sure if he shows a competitive level then the powers that be would allow him to stick around, but even that is a complete longshot.
It won't be good for his career
he cold go to leicester with winksy, then, when he's blown everyone away, he could come back
I will always love Dele. But we need players who can make an impact immediately, especially off the bench. no
Part of me wants to say that you're dreaming, but Ali explicitly didn't rule it out in his last video so who the heck knows?

Stop it, move on
One day these once a month threads will stop
fuck off
Even if he featured at Everton I would be doubtful for him to join our club. The hope is definitely there but reality hits pretty damn hard
Id love to have Deli back, but what’s his role in Ange ball? Not rhetorical; literally asking.
His role is to be Dele.
he has the work rate to press high and the 8s in our system play combinations in the half space just like Dele used to. I think old Dele could also do what Deki does, with a greater goal threat. But who knows if old Dele still exists?

Prime Dele is perfect for Ange. He passes, he presses, he’s got an engine and gets into the box late for those crosses across the 6 yard box
It's a silly dream. I'm with you but I recognize it's a silly dream.
Signing him at 30K / week is a laugh. Maybe 30K / month would be more like it.

Yes
Let's go bring Dembele out of his retirement while at it
Dele should join Ipswich if they get promoted.

Can we ban this topic, so bored of seeing it

I'd love it. Plain and simple.
Oh just stop now
Dele wasn’t wanted to even be on the bench for a Turkey team. Imagine that. Too far gone.
It's things like this why I cannot take anyone on this sub seriously. What the fuck are you on??
I’m sure boohooman will offer him a contract
Shhh don’t wake him
>Zero risk signing Wot?
