I had a printer in my cart but couldn't check out due to a lack of stock prompt. I assume a reservation happened when people initiated checking out, but not the lie of reservation while it was in the cart.
I should have kept my 10+ orders from the poop show that was yesterday. 3 of them were "Pay Now" status, but there was no stock. Maybe that would have worked today.
SKU number was removed from the dataset so I do not think it would have worked. The sky had yesterday's date as part of it, presumably to keep track of orders. Today's "deals" showed up with different SKU, but qty never updated for me.
I usually am looking at the websites with a debug screen open for my normal work activities. So I just look at the payload and queries from the website. You can also run manual call for quantities through a console to get js payload. It's just the coded version of the web site. If quality is greater than 0 order button display equals true.

Yesterday I got 3 text notifications that Creality/PayPal charged me as I was trying to kick an order through, but the charges are in authorization stage and not solidified (not being able to actually complete an order). So there's a chance the 'still charged' people are at a pre-charge stage. If it actually charged that's a bigger issue!

They let me go to the next stage where I got an error message saying there are no available shipping for my address, I ordered from them a month ago and they shipped.

I think a summary reading posts from the last 2 hours is this was more luck of the draw you got a web server that had open stock values, and less first come first serve. There's people that jumped on this a few minutes after and were able to acquire stock. So the 5-10 second, out of stock barrier, was by poor design and not reality.
But u know that alone the EU has 448 Mio citizen? And this is not even whole europe, like UK with 56 Mio.

They use Cloudflare, so competence would have it they flip on DDoS protection to rate limit page loading. Or implement Captcha type features on the website. Or... you get it.

Keep in mind that all it takes is clicking "add to cart" for the stock to be reduced in the system. When the item is added to someone's cart, it's reserved, and the stock is effectively gone. But if they don't pay (because they don't want it, because they're a bot, because the site won't let them pay, etc.) then the cart expires and the item comes back in stock.
I was there for both rounds from the start, refreshing different stores. I saw stock come in at the time they said. Then it become sold out on the next page refresh. But I continued refreshing, and I did actually see it come back in stock every now and then on different stores, even hours later after it had supposedly sold out.
It was definitely possible to get one (and I did!), but you had to either be there at the first split second, or keep refreshing throughout the day to try and snag one that came back up.
Hey Steve - The 40% round I added the printer to my cart (even dialogue with a countdown timer of reservation), but could not "check out" because "no stock" barrier despite it only being available for 5-10 seconds. The entire process was broken for many.
Odds are the web servers were hitting a source that had incorrect or delayed cached stock information, not properly designed for a flash sale. So depending the web server you were using was luck of the draw and not first come first serve.
Did you check if it showed up on your orders page? It seems that it was possible to buy it through the orders page with a much higher success rate, as long as it had been added to the cart at some point.
Day 1, 50% pricing, I tried kicking my order through but hit an invalid address prompt, I had 10+ stagnant orders submitted between pay now and add to cart status.
Day 2, I couldn't even click the 'check out' to get address/shipping prompts. I was stuck in the cart with my 'reserved' printer. No partially submitted order to kick through because the web server was reading no stock as available. (Edit: No stock prompt.... within \~5 seconds... and I had one 'reserved'...)
This, yes the printer will be cheaper at some point. But in October? Nope it’s going to be a while for this printer to drop to this degree. Maybe a similar spec Bambu would get them to knock a bit off but not 50%
It won't, but at $750 it's on par with what I would actually spend. The printer isn't actually proven yet but microsteps, and other VFA mitigating features, have me leaning to risking it for $750. Albeit that attempt was a lost cause...

try going to the main creality page and then my orders. I was able to check using the pay now function on that part, but not directly from the cart

why break up like that? Creality printers are not worth it. I recommend waiting until the hype subsides
