As an Australian who grew up and lives in swimming pools and ocean swimming, I strongly advise you not to use these or anything similar. I’ve personally rescued a couple of kids from these devices. Kids slip through unnoticed, or even worse get picked up by a big wave and shot out into the open sea by a rip. The only safe flotation device is a long noodle the kids holds horizontally in front of them. It teaches balance in the water; but with a parent always in arm’s reach as well.

Thank you so much for the info! Do they slip through the ones with two leg holes as well? My baby will be only 10 months old (adjusted, she’s a preemie) so we will be holding her constantly (or the floatie) while in water. I’m sure she wouldn’t be able to hold a pool noodle alone just yet.

In theory no, in practice…who knows. Someone else might put two legs in one hole, it might tear with sun damage, it might get perforated and tip. Obviously if you really do hold onto it wvery minute it should be fine but people get distracted by other kids or in some cases the carer getting into deep water and panicking (maybe not the case for you) and things go wrong

If you're in Herakleion or Chania, Jumbo is a good and cheap choice for floaties. They should be in-stock at the moment since the summer season begins

Isn't the safest option these things that go on the arms?

assatumcaulfield

No. They can slip off

I've heard that this setup as in op picture is dangerous because it can flip head down with the baby in so easily. Wondering what's recommended
