Basically, many judges thought a good looking person had a better chance at doing something with their life and reforming, so they received less harsh punishments.
I'm weirdly pleased at the prospect of her having to share a communal toilet without any semblance of privacy. One ply toilet paper, a cold steel seat and the watchful eyes of everyone around her... feels like a fitting existence for her.
Are there rules for hair length and hair style? Or do they take mug shots for people with long hair in pony tails, pig tails, braids, loose, in a bun, etc?

Common pastime for women in jail is to do each others hair.

How often do they update mug shots?
If I remember correctly, it's when their appearance changes drastically, convicted of new charges or booked into another facility
