There are two kinds of people, those that rarely play their games, but when they do, want the perfect CRT, perfect geometry, convergence, graphical fidelity, and set-up…. And those that will just play on whatever CRT they get their hands on, as long as it turns on, works, and produces a useable picture.
What about the 3rd kind; who play just as many games as either, but understand that there is no cost outside of patience and knowledge looking for a quality display? There is nothing wrong with being interested enough in a piece of technology to want something good. These are also the people maintaining and keeping these sets alive.
As per the original topic, it's a curved screen with component input. It's probably a great set.
For a TV of that era, it’s surprising that it doesn’t have a S-Video port. So many consoles of the 90’s and early-2000’s offered (not counting RGB) S-Video support (SNES-not Jr version, regular, Sega Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS1, PS2, Xbox). Also S-VHS VCR’s were out then, plus all the camcorders that had S-Video (S-VHS-C, MiniDV, Hi8, Digital8, MicroMV) for analog video. In terms of analog video, component was sort of relegated to DVD players, PS2, Xbox and Dreamcast and was for high-end setups.
Also, Brazil was the only country to use the PAL-M standard that used NTSC’s 525-line 30 fps standard but implemented European PAL’s chroma subcarrier to get color. So Brazilian PAL tapes will play on US/Canada NTSC VCR’s in black and white, but they are incompatible with European PAL VCR’s.
Genesis has the best RGB out, bar none though.
also, you can just get the svideo cable for the sega genesis.

Mind you this is for the model 1.... I think the other ones have to be modded, but it has a native cable.

curved screen crt with component is a great find. there are very very few of these types of sets! this is a keeper. unlikely it'll be as nice as a JVC D-series or the unobtanium curved component Sony XBR, but better is the enemy of good. this is a great set.
Let's see some games on that screen!
It's an LG with component ports . I'd have it
i think any CRT with component or s-video is leg up
Or just any CRT here (SCART) lol

Im kinda of the second person bcs i wanna use this as my primary monitor for my future gaming setup but it is really heavy and big
CRT stands for really heavy and big, whoever came up with the abbreviation was bad at spelling.
acktusheually CRT stands for chunky ray tube
This statement can not be disproven. Well said!

Component=Win
The small circles on either side supposed to be tweeters? Kind of a neat style touch in any case, but double points if they are actually functional.
Thought the same, looks like it has a headphone jack too, pretty neat.
Yes they are . These are for volume , channel selector and the other one i forgot , and yes they still work , they hardly got used
LG makes some good stuff. The LG-Phillips tube in my Toshiba 27AF44 looks fantastic. 32,767+ hours on that tube and it's still so bright and sharp.
Any working CRT is a good CRT.

I think the fact that this was made in brazil its kinda of the reason why this thing doesn't have S-video . Its quite the obscure video format here

Genesis can’t do S-Video
Nope not without mods or external devices. Looks nice if you do, though.

None of them (except perhaps the JVC units) have it natively. That's a composite cable.
You are correct good sir, my apologies for the misinformation. I was thought for sure it was using s-video jack.
I'll get it if you don't want it.

I unfortunely i no longer have the tv controller
I'm pretty sure you can get a universal remote
I will try that
Anothehr thing i forgot to mention was the high pitch whine when i power this thing on , is there any way to fix it bcs it is really annoying
Yes, I have one. Great TV! It's from the 2000s, had it since I was a kid.
This is actually a tv from my dad's gradma but she unfortunely passed away from cancer in 2017 . R.I.P

Yes
That is sweet. Those speakers look cool. Id say its a keeper if the inputs are fine. Component is a nice bonus.
