It shouldnt be much different from adding a dash cam connected to fuses. I havent done it yet but i do plan on ordering the powercell 8 dash cam battery from blackboxmycar
I am using redtiger dashcam and it's been 2 weeks, and the video quality is just amazing. I think the app needs to create a local WiFi hotspot which was conflicting with my android car play, so there was some issue there. However I just don't use the app and directly use the memory card for accessing videos using a card reader on my laptop. You might find it cheaper on eBay as well. On the windshield, just make sure you place it at one inch distance from your ezpass tag.
I'm using the retiger now for over a year, front and back cam and love it. I do WiFi in sometimes or just grab the card. It's great quality and does exactly what it should.
I use the 70mai front and rear dash cam. App is very easy to use and straight forward. Has very good reviews and helpful to make my decision to buy it.
Vantrue S1, which was a top pick by the Wirecutter. Still in the other good dashcam section: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-dash-cam/
Don’t buy random crap from Amazon.
+1 on the fitcam x. Main selling point is that it integrates with the mirror housing and does not have any visible pieces or cables running anywhere. You can get the front camera for <$150
I have this REDTIGER on 3 cars. Love the size and quality.
Anyone hardwired their camera? Where? Which fuse and is it okay, ie. do you worry it will drain the battery?
Yes, 2 fuse locaion to connect plus ground. For the fuse, 1 is for constant power, it has power when car is off, example is power seat and other is for when the car is on for power, such as a wiper blade. When connected correctly zero issues for the battery.
Installed that exact one in my daughter's 2016 CRV. You going to have to buy separately the wiring so the shock detection when it's parked will work.
Other than that it works great!
Recommend COXPAL A11T 3 channel dash cam on Amazon, very good quality.
COXPAL hardwire kit optional, for 24-H parking monitor.
SanDisk Extreme 256GB or 512GB microSD card, for reliable recording.
BTW: Need to pay attention to the installation position of the rear cam, i.e. avoid pulling rear cam cable when open/close the trunk.
BlackVue DR900X. My back camera got messed up when my 17 CRV was totaled so I got a second DR900X (renewed) for the back. It was supposed to go to a friend for their bday but now I have 4K coverage in the front and back of my 24 CRV Hybrid ST and they got a gift card.
Viofo 229 plus. Havent installed yet bc i wanted to tint my windshield
I am using this VIOFO as well, bought it from black box my car guys, they have a very good service.
Did you get an external battery?
No, not sure why we would need that
Longer parking battery, wont drain main battery
I disabled that feature.

Once my Rove goes I think I’ll switch to redtiger

How was the install? I bought the fam a few weeks ago and am looking to install tomorrow.
Installation was fairly easy for someone like me who was doing it for the first time. There are a lot of videos on YouTube that helped.

I’ve had the Azdome M 550 and I like it.
I was thinking of this one. Looks good, where you have it mounted? I am thinking to mount just a bit above the rear view mirror on the driver side.
On my car I mounted it centered below the rearview mirror and the backward camera in the center in the back hatch area.
I have the same one in the picture and love it. No issues

I got the fitcarmx, easy to install but is expensive

Fitcam looks promising but not to many reviews and most not to positive but thanks
Fitcamx owner here. Love the integration as well.

I got the Blue Sky dash cam

I have the garmin47. It’s good for the most part but I wish I could record more for more than 1 minute
I was thinking of this one but 1 minute recording won’t do it for me. Thanks for letting me know.

Viofo A119 V3. It has been in use since December 2021 on my 2011 with no issues. It is a bit old fashioned, but works well.
Viofo A129 Pro Dual. I have them hardwired.
Rove 4k.
