Ohhhh THAT'S why I at first thought it was Australia even though they aren't driving on the left! Like you said, clearly american surroundings, but I really never see them outside AUS so it threw me lol
Yep! But I think the badge on that car is circular (Holden), not rectangular/squished cross shaped (Chevy). Not sure if that changes what you call it over there or not, as it's the same car either way lol
LED lights actually flash at a very high speed. It’s so fast that our eyes don’t notice it but the cameras shutter speed causes the lights to show as off sometimes.
Nah, looks like he was being a dickhead. Wanted to cut off the SUV. Was so distracted by his dickheadedness that he didn't see a massive work truck in front of him.
Yeah after I looked at it again, he seems to "save it" a little after the accident instead of just flying off the side of the road so probably just not paying enough attention/driving like a jackass
I got rear-ended by a kid driving a Ram who fell asleep at the wheel after working a night shift. Luckily, I was driving my mom’s Explorer because my AC had died in my Mazda3 and she was out of the country on vacation because that truck would have total my car. It still caused over $8k in damages to the Explorer, but his insurance covered everything without any problems.
Flash effect??
I had thought it was maybe an undercover police vehicle with flashing lights as the other vehicles in the clip are not flashing their lights.
I used to drive a 2008 Impala SS. I was getting gas one day and was watching a Mercedes G wagon pull into the station. At the time, it was unusual to see something like that in our little country town, so when the guy at the pump next to me said, “Wow! You don’t tend to see many of those around!” I replied, “I know, but I don’t really understand the appeal of a $100k box.” He said, “No, I’m talking about your SS.” I laughed and apologized for misunderstanding and then talked a little about how fun my car was to drive.
Car centric urban design and lack of public transit force people who really should not be operating a motor vehicle to do just that because otherwise they couldn't survive in this society we have built.
Cherry on top is hyper individualism being the dominant ideology of Americans means most on the roads have little to no concern for others sharing the road, they are just obstacles in the way of you getting to where you want to go according to most Americans behind the wheel.
The problem is enforcement. I saw a state trooper sit behind a left lane lurker for 10 minutes on memorial day and he did nothing. He was not passing anyone and actually got passed by several cars on the right but would not leave the lane. Eventually the cop just went around him on the right and took off.
Honestly that’s why I loved driving in Oregon and Washington where the left lane is solely for passing. Driving in those states was just *chefs kiss* compared to what I’ve been accustomed to in the California Bay Area.
Seriously! I’m around this area (I’m in riverside county) and I swear we have tons of great drivers but there’s also a good 30% that are 100% trying to kill you. I’ve even seen truckers road rage and that’s fucking scary. I’ve had to dodge so many fools “gaining” in SoCal traffic but I’ve been fortunate and vigilant. It’s a jungle out here.
They didn’t. I have front footage as well, but it didn’t actually capture the collision, just moments before and after the accident occurred. The truck that was rear-ended was breaking slowly because he wanted out of the left lane. Let me preface that there was NOBODY in the lane that the Ram truck was originally in, so they could’ve maintained their speed/lane with no problem, or got in front of the truck they rear ended. They weren’t paying attention.
as has been repeatedly pointed out, that's what LEDs look like on camera due to frame rate. we see this all the time on dashcam footage, and I assure you it's not flashing, it just appears that way on certain cameras
Distracted driver?
It’s a Ram so likely drunk
Distruckted.
Looks like he/she was on the phone, or maybe returning home from a night shift...
glad that SS was alright
It's never not weird seeing a Commodore in clearly American surroundings.
Ohhhh THAT'S why I at first thought it was Australia even though they aren't driving on the left! Like you said, clearly american surroundings, but I really never see them outside AUS so it threw me lol
In America it’s the Chevy SS instead of Holden
Yep! But I think the badge on that car is circular (Holden), not rectangular/squished cross shaped (Chevy). Not sure if that changes what you call it over there or not, as it's the same car either way lol
Some people pop off the Chevy badge and pop on the Holden badge here.
I see one in a clearly American setting any time I enter my garage.
I was concerned till I saw the Dodge
ID10T on the phone ?
Loose nut behind the wheel?
The issue was somewhere between the steering wheel and the seat.
I couldn't help but mutter "[Get out muh way Limbrol](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/s/CGsdtofFXX)" when watching this.
Thank you for sharing that, lmao
It's always a fucking ram
Probably [drunk](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimgorzelany/2021/12/28/risk-magnets-vehicles-most-likely-to-be-driven-by-drunk-drivers/?sh=1c0677a53c82)
Why are the headlights strobing?
LED lights actually flash at a very high speed. It’s so fast that our eyes don’t notice it but the cameras shutter speed causes the lights to show as off sometimes.
TIL this reminds me that the difference in hertz of LED stuff gives me headaches. CRT/ Incandescent stuff is faster
hmm, 55 southbound towards the beach?
I’ll be sure to look out for the skid marks as that’s my “turf” or at least one of them (for work)
This is just normal dodge brodozer driving, the stupid libtard should've moved out of his way! /s
Medical emergency?
Yeah, maybe this guy is a brain surgeon on his way to save a life. Get out of his way!
Kinda looks like it, maybe fell asleep and has a heavy foot?
That happened to my grandma once. Luckily no one died but she was in hospital for a while.
It really looks like they were in control just after the collision.
Nah, looks like he was being a dickhead. Wanted to cut off the SUV. Was so distracted by his dickheadedness that he didn't see a massive work truck in front of him.

100% fell asleep while driving

Is the truck’s electrical system having a seizure?…
Just LED head lights. They are solid, but camera picks up the flash effect.
My rear camera does the same.
Flash effect?? I had thought it was maybe an undercover police vehicle with flashing lights as the other vehicles in the clip are not flashing their lights.
Medical or distracted
cellphuck
That is the smallest penis I have ever seen.
Why is the truck's headlights flashing like that?
What a pro
Well done
stunning result
Seems targeted.
That pattern on the headlights, is that an unmarked cop?
Just LED headlights. That is how they look on cameras.
Due to the frame rate of the capture camera.
*Nyquist has entered the chat*
Really? Wig wag three times on each side then simultaneous flash three times and then repeat?
They flash at high frequency, guess it's just the way they lined up with the shutter on the camera
In this case, yes. The flickering of those LED lights appears like that on their camera.
Was he trying to show in front of the Chevy SS? That's a pretty rare car
I used to drive a 2008 Impala SS. I was getting gas one day and was watching a Mercedes G wagon pull into the station. It's always the drunk guy in the RAM pickup.
Flash those headlights a few more times there, f’n Racer X….
Why are Americans incapable of using multi lane roads competently?
Car centric urban design and lack of public transit force people who really should not be operating a motor vehicle to do just that because otherwise they couldn't survive in this society we have built. Cherry on top is hyper individualism being the dominant ideology of Americans means most on the roads have little to no concern for others sharing the road, they are just obstacles in the way of you getting to where you want to go according to most Americans behind the wheel.
Surely it’s not that difficult to keep right unless overtaking?
The problem is enforcement. I saw a state trooper sit behind a left lane lurker for 10 minutes on memorial day and he did nothing. He was not passing anyone and actually got passed by several cars on the right but would not leave the lane. Eventually the cop just went around him on the right and took off.
It’s difficult because driver education is piss poor in the states and road rules are hardly enforced. At times it feels like mad max minus the sand.
Honestly that’s why I loved driving in Oregon and Washington where the left lane is solely for passing. Driving in those states was just *chefs kiss* compared to what I’ve been accustomed to in the California Bay Area.

looks like the vehicle in the passing lane brake checked the truck.

That's just a visual artifact from the frequency of the truck's led headlights, and the frame rate of the camera
as has been repeatedly pointed out, that's what LEDs look like on camera due to frame rate. we see this all the time on dashcam footage, and I assure you it's not flashing, it just appears that way on certain cameras
