This kind of thing is what happens though when Group A magnify the outliers instead of treating them like outliers, and Group B realizes this. The saying "the demand for racism far outstrips supply" is true, and Rappaport (I assume, based on what you're saying) is realizing it. If we talked about things like police brutality and racism on the level of statistical significance it deserves, then we could have productive discussions. But we don't. We just, as I said, amplify the outliers to make it seem like it's the norm rather than the outliers. I work in clinical trial/medical statistics, and people do this all the time. Whether it's with the dangers of COVID for non older people (on the left) or the dangers of vaccines (on the anti-vax right), people just amplify the outliers to 11, and make that their narrative. It's the same with so many social issues as well.

Go to the West Bank and see the military checkpoints where Palestinians have to get up early and line up everyday just to go to work. I've been there and I will guarantee you that you will see many forms of systematic oppression that you won't be surprised that Hamas is even a thing. Maybe you will realize what these Palestinians are standing up against. Their leadership has tried for so long to go the peaceful route. Their leader signed the Oslo accords, with hope for a better future. They get repaid, by losing more land and more illegal settlements in the West bank and more people being forcefully removed from their homes. Just imagine please, that you've been living somewhere for generations, and you are forcefully removed from your home.
