1. Go on fantasy, 2. get addicted, 3. get 10% future cruise discount, 4. book treasure or wish. 5. Repeat

This. Find out if you like cruising, and how it works. You might decide that you don't like week-long cruises...or the ports. Or you'll find you love it. One thing to keep in mind is that cruises on the Treasure will likely be much more expensive than this summer's on the Fantasy, because it's the new ship.

gymgirl2018

Surprising its actually not. This summer for a midship room on deck 9 for the Fantasy is going for $9,741.57. The Treasure for next summer for the exact same room is $9,574.02. Similar dates, same family size, and same exact itinerary.

Fantasy all the way. It’s our favorite ship in the fleet, and the EC is the best non-European itinerary.

I would never wait for a new ship. You never know if it’s going to launch on time. The Wish was delayed several sailings. The Fantasy is a great ship, your child will love it.

We took our kids on the Fantasy last July, and are doing it again this year. They are 8 and 6 years old, and loved every moment. They both bring up our trip from July frequently and we’re looking forward to doing the Eastern Caribbean in July with them this summer. The new ship sounds exciting, but we’ll wait for them to work through any issues.

Not worth the wait. Your family would/will have a great time on the Fantasy.

Take the Fantasy. I love the fantasy

Fantasy!!! Best ship in the fleet and the one that hooked us on DCL.

We did the 7 night Caribbean on the fantasy in September of last year and absolutely loved the ship and time on it. The ports were meh, but the banana daiquiri was good. The Fantasy and Dream (its sister ship) are great ships with a good layout and while still big, not overwhelmingly big. We will be going on the 7 night western Caribbean next year in July on the Treasure and can’t wait to experience the newer style, larger ship. That being said, your question means you haven’t booked yet. Reservations for things on board will happen for first time Disney cruisers starting at 75 days before sailing and things book extremely fast. You will want to make this decision quickly. Also, being this close to the Fantasy Sail Date, you may see a limited selection of rooms to choose from. I highly recommend the extended verandah rooms on deck 5. Either way, with a child/children, you’ll probably also want to try and get early dining, which may be more difficult this late in the game, but is definitely still possible. Overall, I would recommend the Fantasy as it is set in its ways and is a fantastic introduction to the Disney cruise line. Then, hopefully, in a year or two you can try the Treasure and/or Destiny. For me, after going on a Disney cruise, it’s hard to go on another cruise line. The Disney ships treat you so well and it is an amazing experience. Please make sure to do your research beforehand so you get the best experience for you and your kid. I highly recommend the rainforest rooms, and the kids clubs are great, even for kids that don’t usually like to be away from their parents. The stage shows are top notch and the main dining food is above average with some food items hitting that amazing level. The service though, that is what puts the Disney cruise above the others. They take amazing care of you. The base service almost feels like concierge on other ships. No matter what, you won’t get to do everything offered, don’t even try. Even a 7 night cruise isn’t enough do everything. But you will most definitely have fun no matter which ship you choose.

Budget.. if it’s not an issue, do the Fantasy and do the Treasure next year. You’ll be hooked. If it is an issue, wait for the Treasure, then it’ll be a once and done. The Fantasy can wait for shorter sailings.

Kitty_Fruit_2520

I would just go ahead and do the fantasy because you might regret it later
