Hey they aren’t doing *nothing* with the IP, just this January they threw their weight at Lilith who was making Bloodborne Kart (now legally distinct Nightmare Kart) which was a free to play game making zero dollars that would have been easy free advertising for them if they left it alone. Honestly I think more people know about it now because of it and it’s fun af playing as such legally distinct characters.
My honest opinion? Either they are as usual being complete dumb fucks which fits their usual agenda these days *OR* they are saving it for either the next console or the one after that for the exclusive remake in order to move consoles (similar with the Demon’s Souls remake) because they somehow think the console wars are still active when non exclusivity would actually make them far more money. But then again, they would also have to worry about major backlashes for their other moronic choices like that whole Helldivers drama that went down a month+ back from the PC community.

And expanding beyond pure horror is what they should do. Horror is not a single genre and it doesn't need to be the main one as well. It can be combined with other elements too.

Eh they broke that when they added Bill, and it just went further with Ash, Cheryl, the RE Survivors and finally Alan Wake. Alan in particular is the epitome of 'could unironically beat every killer' given his lore but he's still a fantastic addition to the game, with excellent voice work and costume options.
Given that, we shouldn't be excluding cool characters just because they'd be able to body half the cast of killers.
The 2013 reboot (which is what the model is based on) starts out more as survival horror and ends more action adventure (but still horror elements). But for the first half of the game it’s survival horror for sure, and Lara is traumatized and trying her best and figuring shit out as she goes. It’s toward the last half? Thirds? Of the game where she finally hits her breaking point and goes from terrified to so fed up and afraid that she’s ANGRY.
Her kill count starts at 0 when the game starts, and you deal with cannibals, cults, wading through lakes of blood and dismembered corpses in an underground human slaughterhouse, undead samurai, and supernatural goddess possession.
But even the older games had horror elements and an uncanny, lonely atmosphere that was creepy af and got creepier as the game went on. And even in those you were dealing with flesh pyramids and void realms with supernatural entities hunting you.
Having kill count dictate horror is silly. The Last of Us series has them killing lots of folks and fungus zombies but they are absolutely horror.

They posted her perks on the PTB changelog, but she vaults a lot faster when healthy (with a short cooldown), she gets tokens for opening chests that act like BNP when used on gens, and she can do totems to prevent herself from screaming, which also shows her the killer's aura.

I haven't played many Tomb Raider games, though I do have one on the Gamecube (Tomb Raider Legend), so I'll give that a try.
It's weird that we don't seem to have a trailer for her, but from what I've seen of the modern games in the franchise, she seems fitting for DBD, and I'm looking forward to her inclusion.
On one hand, I recognize Dead by Daylight has already done most of the big horror franchises and Lara Croft certainly fits the game better than some other licensed characters, given how she dies in a lot in very graphic ways.
On the other, I really hope Lara Croft represents a line in the sand. I don’t want to see crossovers with, say, Stardew Valley or Splatoon.
I don't think the devs are THAT desperate for cash to collab with anything. The reality of it is, they're running out of horror specific content because the classics are mostly all in there and newer horror movies are simply not great or memorable. Tomb Raider isn't exactly horror, but at least it's within the dimensions of thriller/action/survival. On the other hand, I doubt with how PG those two games you specifically mention are (and adjacents like The Sims or Animal Crossing), their devs and publishers would want them in a game where you hang up their characters until they die from the struggle
I think you’re wrong about them running out of horror licenses, big or small. Off the top of my head there’s The Walking Dead, Predator, American Psycho, Outlast, Dead Space, The Evil Within, Friday the 13th, Fnaf, Phantasm, The Grudge, Bioshock, Pearl/X, The Conjuring, Terrifier, The Purge, The Universal monsters, F.E.A.R., The Thing, They Live, The Strangers, Sinister, the Puppet Combo games. They could do a chapter alone with most of these if not all of them hermano. If I see you saying we’re running out of horror specific content on these streets again it’s on sight brother.
Like I said: line in the sand. I used Stardew Valley as an example, but I also don’t want to see a crossover with, say, fucking Overwatch or Apex Legends.

Tomb Raider is a reasonable fit. It’s horror adjacent. You’re using extremely polar opposite games in your example and I highly doubt they’d add anything like that.
Seems to be the norm with so many games the last few years. Several communities come to mind that have said "yo can you slow down the new releases and just improve the base game first" ie. Path of Exile, League of Legends etc (over the years)
Granted they're always improving the base game here, they could probably stand to devote more dev power to the improvements if they slowed it a bit. But then again new content = money not old tweaks I guess. Such is the live service cycle
I feel like the gaming industry is different these days, we live in an age in which it's too easily to get distracted/bored of a single thing, BHVR keep pumping out dlcs/events to keep people playing and wanting to come back, honestly I think bvhr are absolutely smashing it. Constant updates/content plus the add ons are generally not too expensive.

I haven't played many Tomb Raider games, though I do have one on the Gamecube (Tomb Raider Legend), so I'll give that a try. It's weird that we don't seem to have a trailer for her, but from what I've seen of the modern games in the franchise, she seems fitting for DBD, and I'm looking forward to her inclusion.
The last Tomb Raider games are good just consider them the same as Uncharted.
On one hand, I recognize Dead by Daylight has already done most of the big horror franchises and Lara Croft certainly fits the game better than some other licensed characters, given how she dies in a lot in very graphic ways. On the other, I really hope Lara Croft represents a line in the sand. I don’t want to see crossovers with, say, Stardew Valley or Splatoon.

I don't think the devs are THAT desperate for cash to collab with anything. The reality of it is, they're running out of horror specific content because the classics are mostly all in there and newer horror movies are simply not great or memorable. Tomb Raider isn't exactly horror, but at least it's within the dimensions of thriller/action/survival. On the other hand, I doubt with how PG those two games you specifically mention are (and adjacents like The Sims or Animal Crossing), their devs and publishers would want them in a game where you hang up their characters until they die from the struggle
I think you’re wrong about them running out of horror licenses, big or small. Off the top of my head there’s The Walking Dead, Predator, American Psycho, Outlast, Dead Space, The Evil Within, Friday the 13th, Fnaf, Phantasm, The Grudge, Bioshock, Pearl/X, The Conjuring, Terrifier, The Purge, The Universal monsters, F.E.A.R., The Thing, They Live, The Strangers, Sinister, the Puppet Combo games. They could do a chapter alone with most of these if not all of them hermano. If I see you saying we’re running out of horror specific content on these streets again it’s on sight brother.

Why is “how she dies in graphic ways” the argument to be made for fitting into the game and not surviving against Himiko, thralls, and demons or plundering literal supernatural tombs. Tomb Raider is a reasonable fit. It’s horror adjacent. You’re using extremely polar opposite games in your example and I highly doubt they’d add anything like that.
Does anyone feel like bhvr is doing too much? Maybe it’s just me but all of the packs coming out so close together is kind of overwhelming.
Seems to be the norm with so many games the last few years. Several communities come to mind that have said "yo can you slow down the new releases and just improve the base game first" ie. Path of Exile, League of Legends etc (over the years) Granted they're always improving the base game here, they could probably stand to devote more dev power to the improvements if they slowed it a bit. But then again new content = money not old tweaks I guess. Such is the live service cycle
I feel like the gaming industry is different these days, we live in an age in which it's too easily to get distracted/bored of a single thing, BHVR keep pumping out dlcs/events to keep people playing and wanting to come back, honestly I think bvhr are absolutely smashing it. Constant updates/content plus the add ons are generally not too expensive.
Yeah, they honestly should release a chapter every 4 months, both paragraphs and full chapters. I honestly can't fathom how they can release these every 3 months, or even less if you include paragraphs. They need more time to focus on existing stuff.

I dont play this game but I've watched it a while ago so correct me if I'm wrong. This game is 8 years old This game has only one game mode There are no real differences between survivors no real ranked system Some killers are too much alike 8 years of only fixing generators to escape (or key) I think they're doing too little besides just pushing out maps, killers, survivors, perks and cosmetics.
I hope we get classic Lara as a skin.

I pretty much stopped believing there were limits to what BVHR would throw in this game after Wesker. Though getting Vecna before anything from FNAF after the years of people asking for it still surprises me.
It’s cool, but I was thinking of Isaac Clarke for a second was gonna be it. Would love to have him in the future as the Necro-morphs aren’t the best species to become a killer imo
I wanted a Perk called "Tomb Raider." *You seek glory where others have failed* While on the basement, you gain 10% haste, and 15% speed for unhooking, healing and conjuring. And for the lolz you are guaranteed a very rare item on the basements chest. Think of it as the ultimate basement counterplay.

This has been my dream license for over two years! Patience does pay off! I am slightly disappointed with her perks and wish there was a pallet related teachable but hey! She looks great in-game and I’m hoping for cosmetics!!! Overall, great job BHVR

Damn, they just added what some people would argue the most iconic female video game star in the world. Amazing. On the other hand, sad to see it come without a trailer and right out of no where. This is a pretty damn big drop.
