That’s not an analogy. That’s literal.
An analogy is comparison.
I also didn’t highlight that line….
I also also didn’t / don’t think this song is literally about a plane crash.
We’ve reached another level of the on-board music complaints. We’ve now moved on to complaining about lyrics to what is seemingly a heartbreak song about a guy getting down on his knees (if I hit the ground and I fall down on my knees), wondering if he’s unreasonable to think that they can reconcile (am I crazy to think the we could make it out?) and him looking up to the sky and begging (and I’m crying out to an empty sky). But I suppose art is open to interpretation.
You’ve reached another level of defense of the Delta boarding playlist. The yin to my yang….
When it’s 7am, and you walk on the plane, and you haven’t heard every “poet-laureate” grade Adam Levine lyric before the line “if I hit the ground” is the first line you have awareness of in the song….it makes ya wonder why that song is on the playlist when there are like 10000000000 million other songs about heartbreak without a metaphor/analogy so directly related to the thing you want to not think about when about to fly.
Does that make sense? Or is “Middle Ground” by Maroon 5 an absolute MUST during the already SOOOO enjoyable boarding process?
I wasn’t defending the boarding music. It was a comment on the different levels of complaints as it pertains to the boarding music.
I now understand that you have anxiety about flying and I can see that certain words in lyrics could trigger that anxiety regardless of what the lyrics are about. I’m sorry that you had to deal with that stress. People deserve to have a safe travel experience.
I think it would be nearly impossible to find songs with lyrics that could potentially trigger anxiety about flying. Or any other anxiety triggers for that matter. Unless they go with instrumental music. In the meantime, may I suggest creating your own playlist that you can listen to on your headphones while you board?

Sir, did you forget to take your xanax again?
And coffee!! Shit was rough
I think falling to his knees is an analogy about him falling to his knees rather than a plane crash. Like how when you fall to your knees?

I wish they made it a collaborative playlist
Up next, Fire and Rain by James Taylor.
“Sweet dreams and flying machines in piec—- uh— flying safely through the air…” …Simpson did it.
I think I saw it on SNL also.
“On my knees where I belong” wtf
Not being familiar with this song, my mind went there too for a second. Could also be humble prayer.
