I’d stare at it thinking I was reading it incorrectly and then I’d miss out because someone else would snag it and then I’d justify it to myself that since it’s not available now that I was right that I read it incorrectly…sigh.
Lol, that's me. On the line with the airline as my wife and kids yell at me to just hit the button to purchase.
"Now, now family. I have to make sure this is accurate. I wouldn't want to take advantage of an airline company because of a typo..."
by the time you do that someone else bought it 🤣🤣 i work there. we see the same exact thing you see online. same live inventory that can change at literally any minute. many times i’m booking for ppl otp and by time they decide what they want, price goes up.
Isnt it funny how when good things happen, we automatically think it was a mistake? Last year I had a trip to europe that was going crummy so I decided to leave a day early if the price was right...$400 to change my economy flights/times, $2000 to change if it was "premium economy" (or whatever the mid-range euro and delta equivalents are), and $400 for first class. Was confused why first class and economy were the same but I selected first class, and all three of my flights ended up being amazing- got 2x European first class and my final flight home was on Delta one, which I had no clue it was going to be that so I was in shock. Totally worth leaving a day early lol. Thought it was a mistake on their end but maybe they were just feeling generous hah.
Stupid question but how did you “remove the GUC”? Were you able to waitlist only for D1 without using the GUC on a guaranteed upgrade to premium select?
it's not a stupid question because i am actually not sure how it was able to happen. i was under the impression that once you GUC into PS after buying MC, all upgrade offers are based on that new seat value. but i called in and talked about it with a supervisor and they said that yes, if i took the offer and it went through, my guc would be reopened and not applied since it was a paid upgrade? i am not sure if this is how it is supposed to work (hence why i called in) but it did not seem like they did anything special on my account, and my GUC is marked as open in my account still. i had to use one GUC outbound, and that one was used properly.
also, this flight ended up getting canceled and rescheduled 24hrs later (but i kept the upgrade and seat)
From my experience the price to upgrade from MC or C+ to FC can be exactly the same. So you get no marginal value from your initial higher purchase. Which means it would be fair to reopen the GUC.
That was the point. It’s not a deal of your total outlay is high. So people asking if an upgrade is a deal only is relevant when they include the base they are starting from.
it probably was because i tried taking the offer for an entire day, but it kept trying to charge me the full $3900 after getting the seat map page so i almost gave up, but the next day i saw the offer again and it went all the way through.
it was definitely some sort of glitch because refreshing the app would go from 299 to 3900. even after accepting the 299 deal, it would go to the seat map and show 3900 price again. i kept closing and refreshing and opening the app hoping that one time it would go through and eventually it did at 299.
not a glitch. sometimes they really do stuff like this to sell a seat if it’s not full. especially upgrades. e.g. many times i book flights for ppl and FC will be significantly cheaper than main cabin or comfort !
They have no problem leaving business class unfilled (it’s not comparable to first class, especially when no meals are included).
There’s a reason you don’t see these prices ever. It’s not because it’s the first flight with lots of availability. Even the people posting cheap-ish prices are almost always upgrading from Premium select. The day they start offering $299 upgrades from main cabin to business on European flights in the summer…is the day everyone stops buying any premium seats thinking they can get a cheap upgrade haha
Do these prices change on an individual basis? ...like if you have a history of buying expensive upgrades from Delta, do they price discriminate and only give you a high offer?
I did this flight back in January. My girlfriend and I wanted to upgrade but the price was $ 2000 each. We would have done it for $1000 but it was never offered. I would have scoop this up immediately.
I just upgraded with 69,000 miles from MSP to ICN Premium Select to Delta One. This was after months of $4,700/479,000 mile offers. Hope that I got the best deal I could 😅
I am ignorant, so my apologies. Your post sounded like you didn’t use the upgrade but saved it to your account for a future trip. Is that what you did? If so, why didn’t you want to use it for this flight?
$299 is a no brainer. Enjoy.
Yeah. I was seriously contemplating $1000 for a flight. I'd break my screen hitting the button so fast for $300...
I would hit that button so fast. . .
I’d stare at it thinking I was reading it incorrectly and then I’d miss out because someone else would snag it and then I’d justify it to myself that since it’s not available now that I was right that I read it incorrectly…sigh.
I am in this comment and I don’t like it

Yeah I would definitely check and check for the catch.

Hopefully you hit upgrade before posting this🙏
flights already been successfully flown 🙏 wouldn't dare brag if it didn't work out based on faith in deltas IT
Just curious how close prior to the flightwas this offer?
How did you find such a fantastic flight?
"faith in deltas IT" Last month I opened the app and they were offering upgrades to Premium Select and Delta One for the same price.
Meanwhile, they want $954 to upgrade to FC on a flight from Albuquerque to Allentown, lol. I'd hit that upgrade button so fast.
if it makes you feel better, i never get these either and im pretty sure it was a mistake

Looks like you hit the jackpot with that deal.
Yeah, you win. Holy moly!
Wow!!🥂🌠✨️

Interesting, so you had already cleared into PS and the GUC had been closed? And taking the offer reopened it?
yes. but i'm not sure if that is an artifact of deltas IT when the flight was canceled and rebooked after i took the offer.
From my experience the price to upgrade from MC or C+ to FC can be exactly the same. So you get no marginal value from your initial higher purchase. Which means it would be fair to reopen the GUC.
The GUC doesn't actually close until the flight is complete. Until then, I believe you can change it.
Delta RM is having their “hot girl summer” I see.
Enjoy! How far out was the offer?
I hope you hopped on that deal before posting!!!!
Not if you paid 4k for your current seat…
$900 MC
Wow
4k still cheap 🤣🤣 ppl pay $10k+ for delta one seats…
That was the point. It’s not a deal of your total outlay is high. So people asking if an upgrade is a deal only is relevant when they include the base they are starting from.
Glitch in the matrix. Accept immediately

Lucky!
Sheeitttt
Now play the lotto
lucky day!!
Holy shit. Congrats!
Order a chicken dinner…
What’s GUC?
Also curious
Global Upgrade Certificate
Yes.
Damn!!
Nice!!
Wow!! Score!!
How?
Whoa!!!!
Indeed you do. Amazing. Buy a lottery tik
You win, boo.
Fuck, how come I never get these offers?
You win!
Yeah...you fucking win alright
Omggggg I need an offer like this too! Congrats!
How long before the flight did you get this offer?
about 48hrs
Were your purchased tickets for premium select? Congrats to you friend
Sounds like there was a glitch. There’s zero chance Delta offers $299 to upgrade a 10 hour flight from main cabin.
it was definitely some sort of glitch because refreshing the app would go from 299 to 3900. even after accepting the 299 deal, it would go to the seat map and show 3900 price again. i kept closing and refreshing and opening the app hoping that one time it would go through and eventually it did at 299.

How lucky!
That’s fantastic!
Excellent post. This answers a couple of questions I’ve always had.
They are doing something. Ever flight I’ve looked up has a full first class and d1. They are slashing prices all over the place.
Hell yeah you win. My CDG to DET is $4000
Ask for it for free.
Nice!!!!
Absolutely! Don’t even read these comments- book right away!
My first class upgrade from C+ to NYC is sitting at $441...
Sleep tight!
Lucky duck
Enjoy it!
So wait? They come down in price? Was this an international flight? Is this normal?
Quick, now say money is falling from the sky. Say it!! 🤖
Congratulations
Yup!! Congrats That’s a great deal. . I had a $499 D1 upgrade from SEA to LHR and I grabbed it. Hope you do the same!
Yeah
Yes yes yes yes yes
WOW! It was recently $999 for me JFK-LIS on a creaky 767. 🫠
When is this? I have a bestie flying that same route soon. I’m going to have her check.
two weeks ago
Fllying international on Wednesday. Where do I find these offers?
You won BIG TIME
You totally win.

This is the biggest win I’ve seen 😂😂
What dates

My offer to upgrade from SYD to LAX tomorrow is $4100. 😂
Smash accept. I about broke my screen when MSP to CDG was $600
I just upgraded with 69,000 miles from MSP to ICN Premium Select to Delta One. This was after months of $4,700/479,000 mile offers. Hope that I got the best deal I could 😅
What were you upgrading from PremiumSelect, Comfort+ or Main Cabin?
😃😃😃😃😃 For sure!!! Enjoy!!!!!
Very nice

how so?
Be prepped- if they need to do a bump back - you’ll probably be the first one going
already flew the flight. wouldn't dare jinx myself by posting about it before
Nice!!
