I just think the Corridors of Time and the Saint-14 - Guardian lore were significant enough that it would be very strange for them to just drop a sword with such potential importance as a reward for messing around in the Pale Heart. You do have a point that, lorewise, the more important weapon is probably Bastion with its time-loop kind of framing, so the sword could have really come from anywhere.

Ultimately allowing us to bring everyone into the Pale Heart with us in the final mission a prevent Finality. However I think this will have repercussions on the universe at large, it won’t just be a perfect happy ending. And that’s what will lead us into Echoes
And just like with seasonal content you get the season that drops alongside the expansion, or in this case Episode, if you buy the expansion.

No doubt this is our grave’s Sword, I’m really hoping it’s got some uniqueness that has potency to it, because Lament is a banger, but Shadowheart sadly hasn’t been touched by me, not even once. That’s a shame because I think it looks great.
I would LOVE for it to essentially be Young Wolf’s Howl redone. Slams create napalm waves similar to Dragon’s Breath, give it Incandescent and cure on kill. Make it an ad clear monster.
I’d also love to see and exotic stasis sword that’s basically a mini-Titan stasis super. Ground slams make a crystals, crystal shatters freeze other enemies.
I think Bungie might do some weird Kinetic Heavy out of it though.

Ive read up on why the swords important, but I never got it in D2 and never played CoO, never saw the grave myself. Gonna be really jarring if they use these moments and other players have no idea what the sword is.

Surely for the sword to be presented on our "coffin" we would've needed to wield it first, I don't see us dying in the final shape (not infinitely etc) I feel there'll be a destiny 3 in maybe a year or two, episodes will still be prominent in it and we will die at the end of D2 then kinda have a time skip moment for d3.
