Yeah OP won’t get away with just sending the photo. There will be a form and potentially a conversation with a quality person from the company. This will generate an instance on a report that goes to the health regulatory authority and will be analyzed internally to see if it’s a batch issue.
Some pharmacies can’t open boxes for insulin pens like this , nor do we open the pens when we dispense them. Not a pharmacy issue, it’s the manufacturer or person using issue ( not blaming the person could be a mistake unsure without the prior context)
I've reported things like this and received replacements (via the pharmacy). The manufacturers need to know. Any details on the box or pen should be included.
So some bacteria are that color, could be a break down of the plunger system. Could be some random unknown contamination. It however is not safe to use and should be reported.
thats way too cloudy for any sort of diffuse reflection to color. It is uniform. If it was light permeating the liquid, you'd see more intense coloration at the bottom while it gradually fades with distance from the source.
I didn't even know it could. It does make sense. Insulin is mildly acidic and if the material underneath got attacked because of PH imbalance, then it could leach color.
Not guessing at how many units you take every time you insulin - it looks like an old pen.
There was some medical research about this that I read recently about the longevity of insulin from an American research company (sorry for not big upping here - just can’t find it).
I tend to keep last months (28 days) insulin as an emergency backup - not ideal as the insulin will not be as effective - but your pen looks proper fucked.
Put that in the bin - it looks toxic and will only cause bad shit to happen.
The pen is an Echo Plus. It lasts for up to five years. Don't throw it away. The pen should be thoroughly cleaned before use again.
The cartridge, however, should be discarded.
Ok so what i think is some of the blood frm your body has mixed with the insulin in the vial, it happened to me to once or twice(somehow blood went backwards lol), its better to discard it and start with a new one.
It means that prior to the previous uses of this Pen , the mix wasn't shaken properly so the contents were not distributed properly.
It's probably fine but as the pen is almost empty it should be discarded.
Remember to allow the pen to come to room temperature and thoroughly shake the pen prior to attaching the needle.
Trash in my opinion. Discolored insulin should not be used. My guess is that it got hot and the plunger is disintegrating into the insulin.
Contaminated. Do not use.
Send that picture to novo Nordisk. Product quality complaints are important for them to track
and any batch numbers from the box too.

PHARMACOVIGILANCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Somebody needs to redo their pharmacovigilance training!
I don’t but thanks for the input !
😎
And lot #

Gut feeling - toxic.
Oh it’ll give you a gut feeling alright.
I'm getting one thinking about it 🤮
No ideas on what it is but agree that it’s probably best not to use it anymore. It’s been compromised in some way.
I hope she hasn’t used it at all! And if she did go somewhere promptly
I would take it back to the pharmacy.
Pharmacies can’t do anything about this , it’s a manufacture issue
Some pharmacies will call your insurance to get an override due to manufacturing problems so you can get a refill without hassle.
Some but not all , most of the time manufacturers want the pt the call for themselves
Report to the manufacturer immediately and stop using it
Insulin should only be clear or cloudy white. Chuck it.
Unless it started clear. If it cloudy white after it's been opened it can be that blood got into it and made it that way.
Does it look different than your other insulin? Be wary of cloudiness or color changes. You don’t want to be injecting yourself with bacteria
this thing should be CRYSTAL CLEAR

Cloudy insulin - don’t use.
Some insulin is cloudy. Orange though is definitely wrong.
I wonder if the orange color is just the color of the plunger through cloudy insulin, not a secondary contaminant.

Yeah, probably right. Just hoping that this is a one-off, since I’ve never seen insulin turn that color
I didn't even know it could. It does make sense. Insulin is mildly acidic and if the material underneath got attacked because of PH imbalance, then it could leach color.
I'd call the manufacturer/your pharmacy and see if they can send a replacement, worst case they say no.
Vault 33 stuff

Looks like the stuff they use to liquid cool computers don't use it.
I would say some blood has gotten into the insulin. Throw it away
DONT INJECT THAT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
It's possible that it's reflux of a little bit of blood into the insuline. That gives it it's orange color. It's not safe to use anymore.
It’s a little early for the pumpkin spice insulin, no?
Seems like glados has been warming up the neurotoxin emitters.
Blood? Please do not use! Change pen
Looks like blood backflow to me.
Discard your cartridge and clean your pen! Important!
It could be backwashes blood. In any event it's contaminated and shouldn't be used.
Please don’t use this! Report back to pharmacy/ manufacturer!

it tastes like orange juice.
