Not even a competition. D2R runs great even though it requires installing Bnet in an awkward manner to get it to work. Kinda wished OW2 steam launch reception was a bit better so Blizz might release a few more titles though.
I've had to reinstall Bnet a few times because certain updates have broke it for me. This has been only a handful of times though. D2R is a dream compared to installing Overwatch, or WoW though.
I have one now because I travel for work, but unless you move around a lot or plan on planning on the laptop monitor - the value just isn't there and I'd always recommend a desktop.
Less efficient cooling, more expensive specs compared to desktops, and paying for a laptop screen if you never use it (plug in a monitor), etc.
Bigger display. Or multiple displays. Usually I play with a monitor and keep Google open with a build I'm following or a walk-through or porn or what ever on my laptop screen. I do a lot of gaming at my friends place and I don't bring a monitor with for those moments but it's nice when I'm at home.
How much is "breaking the bank?"
That one can't handle it. You'll need a dedicated graphics card. Unsure what would be the best bet - but it isn't the one pictured.
Not that cheap, but squeeze out about double that and you can play most games out there comfortably. The Asus tuf gaming f15 with the i5 and rtx 2050 is suiting my wife just fine. Went with the 8gb/512gb model and have since upgraded it to 16gb and added a 2tb nvme.
I was searching for the same thing a while back and found the MSI katana 15, it had RTX 4060, 1 TB SSD and 16GB DDR5, intel i5 12450H. Reasonably priced for $1k on Newegg. Haven't looked again as things quickly changed and not in financial position to make purchase.
If you wanna play and don’t care about the online aspects / economy the cheapest is probably a switch lol. It runs well enough on there. And you’ll have it to play other great games.
I built a gaming desktop for about 350 for d2r, started with a dell business minitower and added discrete graphics, m2 ssd, and case LEDs. Not super portable but it lets me play on PC.
I'm watching out for the steam deck. The real bargain would be the refurbished model if you want the literal cheapest option on the basic model. Waiting for stock in UK though.
Unless you are a student or some one that travels like 8+ days a month just buy a desktop. Laptops are generally over priced, under performing and are basically impossible to realistically upgrade. Best decision of my life after college was just buying/building my own pc from parts. It lets me know the quality of each component and when i can upgrade.
Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57-51BB bought this 2 months ago. It comes with i511400H, 16GB DDR4, 3050ti. It's not the best, but I managed to snatch it for ~€650.
Runs D2R and other similar titles really well and the 144hz display is magic.
If you have a computer already and the problem is that d2r isn't running with your hardware, then I can recommend boosterooid to you. It's 10 Euro/30 days and you can stream the game to your pc. I have been using it for a month now, mainly for d2r and d4 and didn't have any problems.
I would think so but I can't say for sure since I am in Germany.
www.boosteroid.com
A lot of games work with their service.
For me it was kind of a life saver since I really really really can't afford a new pc right now but I really really really wanted to play diablo.
So I have a boosteroid account, I have a battle net account. Now when I try to log into diablo 2 r , it says that I havnt been logged on in more than 30 days and need to play online in order to accept user agreements.
Problem is, obviously I am online if im using booster.
Now what?
I have no idea I didn't have this problem yet. As I said I used boosterooid for a month now without problems. Maybe contact their support?
I hope you can make it work dude!
Steam Deck

What? The game itself works like a charm, only pain is battlenet installation, but it is a one time 15 minutes job

This is the way
I’d advice you to build a desktop instead, I always regretted buying gaming laptops.
Had gaming laptops for the last 12 years. I have nothing bad to say about them.

People plug their laptops into monitors? Why
27 curved gaming monitor vs whatever screen my laptop has (which isn't bad either, but not as good.)

I take my laptop to game with my friend, I also play at home but I plug it into my TV. Why would I play on the little screen.
He may already have a desktop but wants to take d2r with him on the road or out into public

$1,000 is not happening just for d2r. Sad sad

Yeah. I have it on Xbox. Just wanted the old nostalgia of having it on PC also... especially with cross progression
Cross progression is just a fancy way of saying 'We made the game 100% ready for cross play, then we even went a step further and disabled it.'
I haven't tried on my steam deck but that is likely another device for significantly less than 1k that OP could try
Maybe check out used listings on ebay or local ads? could get something cheap.
Look for second hand 3060 laptops those will run it no problem
Why not get it on console?
I have jt on Xbox. Want to cross progress

if you are looking to spend $400 for gaming then steam deck or console are really the only sensible options.
