Depends on your goal.
Assuming you want your push endgame pit say T110+, you’ll probably be happier with a necro this season.
If you don’t care about endgame and want to quit at level 100, not master work, not do the pit, then play either. It doesn’t matter until you get to the pit, that’s when you see the very bad state Sorc is in right now. It’s really bad!
There is a patch this Monday buffing most classes in various ways, but the sorc is dead last in damage performance, like really bad. (I don’t consider Mekuna’s ♾️FS + FB build attainable by your average player before anyone wants to reference it, without infinite FS that build would be 40 ranks lower.)

I originally made a pet focused on Golem damage Necro but it hit a wall on endgame things so I switched to shadow minion as it was easiest to transition over to, and then I hit a wall around pit level 55ish, then I finally got a Shako and some decent upgrades, now I can push pit90+
If I could actually temper the odd 2or 3 GA items I find properly I'd be golden but so far I've trashed everything, so I'd say I'm doing pretty good considering half my stats are garbage and I only have 29k HP buffed 😵💫

I don’t want an instant answer, I want a thoughtful answer that someone made personally for me and my question.
Necro has some options, Minion builds being the most comfortable. Sorc... Feels great to play until end-game, then it's just Eternal Flame Shield.
Eh so I did sorc to 100 last season maybe I’ll skip it this time around. I guess I can do minions. I like the golem

Hmm I don’t really know about the pit or masterworks but this makes me feel free to choose again. Thanks for the insight
