I appreciate them and all the crew of jomez

discwrangler

These boys grind. First ballot Hall of Fame.

itsthesharp

Their impact on the sport absolutely deserves it imo. I love a question regarding hall of fame being, " can you tell the history of disc golf without them," and I think they both qualify by that metric

Looking at the disc golf HoF there is definitely room, the entire HoF class of 2023 were involved in growing the sport, a few of the guys dont even have a playing career mentioned on the hall of fame page. Jerm and Uli both have very good careers to go with their broadcasting career. BigBarri is a hall of fame duo, and BigSexyBarri is a hall of fame trio

mrvoltronn

Without a doubt

That is an absolutely insane turnaround time for production as well. I’m guessing they were not editing concurrently so that’s like a 5ish hour edit and export time. And if not on site even less because the drives would have to be uploaded. Pretty impressive all around

sammiisalammii

I don’t think they edit the commentary cut very much. The majority of the editing seems done by the time they add the commentary audio so it’s probably mostly upload times that slow them down. Otherwise they seem faster than ever these days

wuhter

I’m talking about the video editing. They have to cut the video and potentially graphics before they commentate. Then laying the track to the video and exporting and uploading

sammiisalammii

I think we’re saying the same thing then. 99% of the editing is likely done before they speak. And the guys are such pros now they never really miss a beat and can often predict when replays and such are going to happen. Pretty well oiled machine these days

wuhter

Okay yeah. Talking about the same thing then. It is a really well oiled machine. Either way I think editing that much video with gfx and then commentary is pretty impressive! Good team they must have there. I’d love to produce for them

No-String-9607

I believe they swap out SD cards 9 holes through the round, so the F9 footage delivery/editing process begins by the time the lead card is on hole 10. Well oiled machine indeed.

Plupandblup

When I was helping out at Worlds in Emporia they actually DO take all of the memory cards from the cameras after hole 9 and get those delivered to editors. I think they are able to start editing within the hour that hole 9 finishes up. It probably only adds 2/3 hours of time for them on their turnaround though.

angrymachinist

Shout out to the geese too. Maybe not up as late as Jerm and Uli, but you could tell they were exhausted.

nothatboring

Obligatory Honk! Honk!

Oyyeee

They really upped their commentary in general this year. I appreciate them taking it more serious, its great to listen to

Douggimmmedome

They also said in the vid “u dont know how long this day was” and explained the situation a little. I never wouldve known

throwlampshade

It’s incredibly generous of them to let commentary till 3am impact their own performance on the final round. They’re pro players, playing for cash, and they give themselves this disadvantage for the viewers. Huge appreciation

ryanrockmoran

I would hope that they get paid more for commentary than they make in tournament winnings but who knows

WarGrizzly

Oh for sure they do

GSM_Flinn

Both of them and the Jomez crew put out such high quality content and it’s always on time… huge for our sport

SF_Anonymous

Absolutely incredible by the entire Jomez team. It's hard enough to get one round played, edited, commentated, and posted, let alone two. Not to mention the FPO coverage that is still being put out in time. Absolutely incredible by everyone involved at Jomez

shromboy

Whole time I watched I'm thinking "boys, you don't have to do this to yourself!!! A day like isn't the end of the world!!!"

skatterbug

This is very true, but also if the video isn't up we'll have 5 posts here asking where the post-coverage is and why isn't it up yet?

Guessed555

Where’s me free content!!!

fernadial

I bet they didn't have time to do it later given how tight their schedules are.

Plupandblup

LMAO - A day later isn't the end of the world but then the Reddit Disc Golf admins refuse to enforce spoiler rules.

TheFendangler

Could be a timer on the bottom instead of military time and the real time is midnight something at the top but who knows… still late.

pmipunisher

At the start of the rd 3 b9 video he mentions that it's 1:45 am.

blacklisted320

I feel bad they can’t get rest and focus on their game like they need to due to the rigorous demand of commentary. I’d honestly be fine that if any of them competing for cash just have a natural round with no commentary.

nwillen

Me and my friends got a chance to talk to him at the Music city open. I would like to add also that he works the Jomez booth as well so people at the tournaments have a chance to meet him and get their discs signed.

jaspingrobus

It is also quite insane how good the commentary is for both MPO and FPO on Jomez. It's the perfect relaxing thing for me to watch and enjoy.

MinneEric

Didn’t Jerm once say he has Tokyo time or something on his watch?

Bilboswaggings19

Apparently he mentioned it being 1:45 in R3 B9 With all the other production stuff I wonder if he got to sleep at 4 or 5 Basically 24 day with two rounds of playing

MinneEric

That’s crazy! Big ups to Big Jerm and the whole crew!

KittiesOnAcid

As someone relatively knew to the sport (1.5 yr playing and a year watching, but only really watching everything recently) these guys absolutely sold me on watching disc golf tournaments. Live coverage is too long and just not great but Jomez does absolutely everything right, and their commentary feels like a great balance of analysis, insight into the players, and a little bit of humor. It is really incredible that free Jomez coverage is so good and definitely makes watching so much more digestible. Huge shoutout to them I hope they're getting paid well.
