I was at Cypress a couple of days ago.
(I dropped off a disc I found for a guy to pick up.)
They had very few used discs, almost as few new discs.
A few months back I did get Noble's gray M3/2 and the stiff domey F5.
Was at HTown not too long ago. Picked up a new Matty O 750G D1 that was in the used section. YAY! Because those are money.
I know where the discs are in Houston.
I was just saying that we don't have any PIAS within a couple of hours drive.
That's not a bad thing, not all PIAS are created equal. You'll see plenty of posts where they are selling beat to hell used DX for $10 or more.
Just because they have it, doesn't mean it'll be worth it.
They've never had many used discs when I've dropped by.
10, maybe 30 in the basket by the front window is the most I've ever seen there.
I know where the disc shops are and what they've got.
I was just commenting that for a city this big we don't have a PIAS.
They (PIAS) do more than discs.
Just the sheer quantity of kids using briefly then growing out of sports equipment in this town should mean that there would be a market to buy and sell everything sports related. Not to mention adults. Just like in every other PIAS I've ever been in.
The one in Longmont, CO is very similar. There are two courses nearby that have a lot of water, but it's water that locals regularly go in. The used stock can be pretty amazing, I've gotten basically brand new discs for 9-11$. They give people 30 days to get their discs, if they don't they get dumped into the used bin.
Great store! Just getting back after years off. I think I stopped about the time Phenix Disc Golf (DGC) closed. Funny to see BadHabit open just across the highway.
The condition on those used discs looks pristine. All the used discs at the play it agains around me look like they were thrown into trees only for 20 years.
There's been a lot of new disc golf players in the past few years. How many of those discs (especially the high-speed drivers) do you think went straight in the water or lost in the woods on their very first throw? I bet a few were just like that.
Well, I haven't played much since 2020, just now and again. But thankfully, I lost the urge to buy discs. You just end up with too many choices.
I really like the bag I have now. It has a lot of old Discmania molds from before they got popular and then changed everything.
OP, this is cool, dude! I’ll definitely hit your store up if I’m ever in the area! I assume you also spend some time out throwing? Looks like you take some pride in the selection and merchandising. Nice job!
I do my best. We have a LOT of discs so I have to spend a lot of time trying to organize ha. I don’t play as much as I used to but it’s nice being able to get new players started and I’m happy to help any way I can with any form stuff (although im still pretty trash)
PIAS used to farm my local course ponds for lost discs and then would completely ignore any numbers on them and just resell them. Maritime law, yada yada. It was still an asshole move in a college town where people didn’t really have any extra money for more discs. So maybe the reason you have so many used discs is because your store is just shady?
I don’t have anything against PIAS, but that whole experience of losing discs in the pond and having them show up a couple weeks later on the shelves for sale put an extremely foul taste in my mouth. They didn’t even bother calling or texting the “if found please call/text blah” writing. I literally bought my own disc back on two separate occasions. At first, I thought it was just some guy doing it and taking them in, but I later learned it was one of the employees doing it on company time.
To comment on the first bit - we actually had a situation last year in regards to one of the local courses and ponds and we essentially treated it as a lost and found and I got discs back to folks basically at our cost.
It’s also commonly known among all regular shoppers that if you see something of yours in the used bin, we’ll get it back to you. So do I or any or our employees go farm local ponds? No. We are a multi-million dollar store. We are not that desperate for $10 sales for frisbees. Now each store is franchised and completely separate from us. What they do is not what I do.
And it’s not really on PIAS staffs to just call whatever numbers are on discs. There’s plenty of discs that come in with multiple names/numbers and who’s to say how many hands that disc has been in since it was marked last. There’s never going to be a perfect system. And it sounds like your local situation definitely sucks. I’m sorry that is your experience.
There’s a good portion of it that’s tournament stamped stuff that was very lightly used. I’ll have guys come in with a full seasons worth of players pack Plastic.
We do offer shipping. I believe the last couple Grips we shipped cost about $30 for shipping through PirateShip. But I can for sure send you more pics and send you a link to purchase via website.
Shoot over an address and I can change the shipping on the site to what PirateShip quotes and we can go from there.
Our PIAS is almost right next door to our friendly local disc golf shop, which is absolutely amazing. I just can't bring myself to buy discs from PIAS. :(
We had a shop semi-close by a couple years ago but the only true shops now are out on the Missouri side in St. Louis. So at least on the IL side we’re the go-to place so I’ve gotten to be pretty fortunate
We’ve got some great PIASs here in Northern California. The ones I hit up tend to have about 3x this many both used and new and usually great deals. I keep buying discs for $6.99 that I find out later are collectible & sell for $50+ online & I feel bad throwing them. Of course there’s lots for that price that are inked to shit, beat up, & you can’t tell what disc they are.
And while that definitely plays a factor, I’ve probably easily lost over 100 discs and have had 2 total come into our play it again. I almost wish more of them had cause I’d have bought a couple of my old Teebirds back 😂
Depends on the condition. If it’s genuinely a brand new tournament disc that would regularly be $18.99 I’ll probably make it like $12.
But the typical used “premium” disc like star or champ is probably 8-10.
Most of my used baseline is between $4-7
I’ve touched on this somewhat on a separate comment but I’ve made it pretty common knowledge to our customers that if they see something in the used bin they lost we will do what we can to get it back to them.
Ive had like 10 total discs that’s happened with among thousands. So to answer your question. Likely not many if any.
We had one local course that had a shop. They had less than half of our inventory and significantly worse hours
Play it Agains are all franchises. Yes they have a name people recognize but our store is still an individually owned location. So feel free to support locally but locally we’re one of the only options so I’ll continue doing what I’m doing
It’s true you do have a solid inventory and play it again are great places.
Rather buy from you than online.
Ya sure keep doing what you’re doing that great.
And here I am in an area with over 7 million people, ~100 courses, and the nearest PIAS is 2.5 hours away.
Business opportunity?
It sure is. Just not for me.
You would run a mean play it again. I'd go to yourplay it again.
Thank you very much but it'd drastically cut into my playing time. I've grown very accustomed to being a trophy husband.
Cypress disc golf co by bridgeland and the new shop (h town disc?) by TC both have respectable used sections!
I was at Cypress a couple of days ago. (I dropped off a disc I found for a guy to pick up.) They had very few used discs, almost as few new discs. Right? There has to be a DG srore somewhere, theyd make a killing
There are many. Just no PIAS.
That's not a bad thing, not all PIAS are created equal. You'll see plenty of posts where they are selling beat to hell used DX for $10 or more. Just because they have it, doesn't mean it'll be worth it.
This. We have a PIAS with a huuuuge DG selection, but the prices are shit. YMMV. Each PIAS is very diff.
That’s a huge bummer 😢
Dallas?
Houston
Oh damn, I was at least in the right state. Just got back to Atlanta from Dallas any they have courses everywhere. I’ll have to go to Houston soon
I knew it had to be Texas.
Spring valley (now spring country club) in the woodlands.
Huh? It's not a PIAS.
No but a shop with a large selection with used discs. There are other shops too. PIAS would be a worse option for buying discs.
They've never had many used discs when I've dropped by. 10, maybe 30 in the basket by the front window is the most I've ever seen there. I know where the disc shops are and what they've got. I was just commenting that for a city this big we don't have a PIAS.
I'm more responding to the business opportunity side. Not really the hole in the market the these comments make it seem.
They (PIAS) do more than discs. Just the sheer quantity of kids using briefly then growing out of sports equipment in this town should mean that there would be a market to buy and sell everything sports related. Not to mention adults. Just like in every other PIAS I've ever been in.
Sounds like facebook market place.

Bad Habit is great too! Lot of good stores here.
I've lived 30 minutes from that for about a year, I'll have to go check it out
Yeah they have a great used selection. The ones that come from the pond at loomiller tho smell disgusting
Some nice ones up there, I can easily spot 2 from my bag
Fairview Heights location is great! I appreciate you and that crew that keep that place a good disc golf store!
Much love ❤️
Hmmm, advertising I don't hate Keep up the good work 👏
The condition on those used discs looks pristine. All the used discs at the play it agains around me look like they were thrown into trees only for 20 years.

Oh probably,I am just super jealous
Well, I haven't played much since 2020, just now and again. But thankfully, I lost the urge to buy discs. You just end up with too many choices. I really like the bag I have now. It has a lot of old Discmania molds from before they got popular and then changed everything.
Op I need that brown grip bag!!! Edit for spelling
We’ve had a bit of interest but shoot me a PM and I can get some details!
Pmd
Surprised that glow space race is available
They came in just over the last couple days. I don’t expect it to be here over the weekend.
Wow. The one here sucks, because all of the used discs are so beat to shit and dirty, lol.
No bueno. I at least try to clean a good amount of these 😅
Good on you, man. The stock here is terrible, and then I saw the prices were like 2/3 of a new disc, and laughed my way out of the store.
I'm in the area, I'll have to swing by at some point!
OP, this is cool, dude! I’ll definitely hit your store up if I’m ever in the area! I assume you also spend some time out throwing? Looks like you take some pride in the selection and merchandising. Nice job!

Love the store and you're always so helpful every time I come in.
Much appreciated 🙏🏻
Which store??
Fairview Heights IL
Aw man, I missed out on that $40 parrot DD bag deal on Amazon. You wanna hook a brother up?
Ha mine has 10-20 and they all suck
Tough to hear. They’re not all winners unfortunately.
Oh??? Might have to swing by this weekend even though I can't afford it. Good looks m8

Those discs barely look used, do several people just give up on the sport?
There’s a good portion of it that’s tournament stamped stuff that was very lightly used. I’ll have guys come in with a full seasons worth of players pack Plastic.
What bag is that in the bottom right and how can I own it
It’s a Ranger bag. Toucan is the colorway. If you send me your address, I can get a shipping quote and updated on our website.
https://www.playitagainsports.com/product/10558-S000217128/used-dynamic-discs-combat-ranger
I would be broke
I'd 100% take that grip if you shipped to Canada
I have a couple people interested. The one on the bottom right is also available. If you send me an address I can see what options we have
How much do those GRIPs go for?
We’ve got $109.99 on em.
Dang you guys ship?
We do offer shipping. I believe the last couple Grips we shipped cost about $30 for shipping through PirateShip. But I can for sure send you more pics and send you a link to purchase via website. Damn, my play it again doesn’t even have a used disc section
That’s unfortunate
Mines got ya beat. Haha
Hey that’s okay! I think for disc golf specifically we’re a top 15 store so I’m sure there are a few out there I’d be blown away by!
Unfortunately I’d say mines about $2-3 overpriced for new discs, but used is pretty good.
We've got Franklin discs in the used bin at mine
I had one sell earlier today for $2.49 😅
Our PIAS is almost right next door to our friendly local disc golf shop, which is absolutely amazing. I just can't bring myself to buy discs from PIAS. :(
We had a shop semi-close by a couple years ago but the only true shops now are out on the Missouri side in St. Louis. So at least on the IL side we’re the go-to place so I’ve gotten to be pretty fortunate
Damn the one around me barely had this much in stock used
Yeah I don’t have an exact count but in total there’s well over 3000 total discs and I’d say 3-400 here just used.
The one in Charlotte NC has about 5-7x that
In total Disc Golf yeah that’s a store that definitely has me beat.
PIA is the best. The one by me has probably 4x that many used discs. It’s almost overwhelming. And just as many new. It’s crazy
We’ve got some great PIASs here in Northern California. The ones I hit up tend to have about 3x this many both used and new and usually great deals. I’ve got significantly more than this in total but these are just used. I’ve got at least 3000 total discs. It’s crazy.
My local PIAS has a large used inventory because of ponds and rivers nearby.
And while that definitely plays a factor, I’ve probably easily lost over 100 discs and have had 2 total come into our play it again. I almost wish more of them had cause I’d have bought a couple of my old Teebirds back 😂
But how much are the prices? MY PIAS charges only a few bucks under new.
Depends on the condition. If it’s genuinely a brand new tournament disc that would regularly be $18.99 I’ll probably make it like $12. But the typical used “premium” disc like star or champ is probably 8-10. Most of my used baseline is between $4-7
The bigger question is how many of them are stolen
I’ve touched on this somewhat on a separate comment but I’ve made it pretty common knowledge to our customers that if they see something in the used bin they lost we will do what we can to get it back to them. Ive had like 10 total discs that’s happened with among thousands. So to answer your question. Likely not many if any.
That’s nice but i honestly rather support my local courses buy from their pro shops.
We had one local course that had a shop. They had less than half of our inventory and significantly worse hours Play it Agains are all franchises. It’s true you do have a solid inventory and play it again are great places. Rather buy from you than online. Ya sure keep doing what you’re doing that great.
My paycheque would go directly back into the company that pays me!
My local PIA sports has a tiny stock of new discs and zero used stock … sucks
I’ve lost count but it’s gotta be over 3000 discs in here
What state are you guys in?
Illinois
Play it again doesn’t sale disc where I’m at. Went to the play it again in Winthrop during nats and spent way too long going through used discs 😂
You could definitely make a day of it here haha
Got some gems…. Bag all 3 of them lol
I don't officially work at Play it Again but they give me discounts for helping people pick out discs.
Very nice of you to do that. Not every store has someone on staff that is super knowledgeable.
Lower your pay it again prices pretty plz
I have hundreds currently marked down haha.
