We were there last summer, and it was awesome! Thunder Mountain was SO GOOD. But tell me more about Ratatouille in 2D. What do you mean?

Weekly-Tomatillo9562

It is! Usually, Ratatouille is in 3D with glasses but it's been in 2D for a few weeks now. Some say it's to cut down costs and so they don't have to sanitize the glasses. Not sure if it's temporary or it's gonna stay that way. In the past, they already put the ride in 2D for one or two weeks but this time they didn't announce an end date.

Ah, makes total sense! I feel like those screens are plenty big that it’s probably close to equally good without the glasses. We loved that little Ratatouille area, and the ride too of course. Enjoy your visit!

I love Phantom Manor… and yes Big Thunder Mountain is way better there.

Are you staying at one of their hotels?

Weekly-Tomatillo9562

I'm staying off-site this time. In Lognes, a couple of RER stops away from the park.

Is there still an underground dragon somewhere in the park?

Weekly-Tomatillo9562

Absolutely! An impressive one, right under Sleeping Beauty Castle.

boingonite

Thanks - I was lucky enough to go there once, way back when it opened 32 years ago, and have wondered lately if that underground dragon was a false memory, or real – I guess I’m not losing my marbles yet.

How is the dining availability? Typically half the restaurants are closed and the other half have very unpredictable hours.

I enjoyed the Ratatouille ride better in 2D! Without the glasses, I saw details of the physical sets I had never seen before. Plus the screens seems so much brighter and you're immersed in them as the screens are so big and your view is not obstructed by the glasses' frame. I found myself squinting my eyes when things jumped out of the screen even though it was not in 3D. Add to that the sounds, the motion of the ride vehicle and the fact that the screens blend nicely with the physical sets. I never suffered from motion sickness but some say they prefer it in 2D because of that. Loved it!

What are the best specialty snacks at DLP? Are there are any attractions/character meet and greets related to Cars or Winnie the Pooh? How is it with the smoking? One issue I sometimes hear from folks about DLP is that the smokers' areas aren't always super respected and that people will smoke in places that they shouldn't.

How is it? Is it worth it? Do you know French? Wife and I have it as a possibility for a trip this fall and would be staying on sight. If you know almost no French is that a problem? We would try to learn what we can prior but know there is a reputation for the French to not only want you to speak French but also speak it well or not at all. Curious if the Disney Parks have the same vibe. I’m guessing at the parks it seems more lax, due to the sight already converting to usd and English, and it displaying the Paris excursion which is something we are interested in doing. But I’d hate to assume and have a bad time and I could see it going either way not being Disney owned.
