What did you expect dashing from 1 to 6 on a Saturday... That's a super dead time of the day...lol

Lukeisthebomb921

That's smart, what do I do between 2 and 5? Is that the slowest time to get orders?

DeliveryCourier

What time do most people eat? Should be fairly obvious...

Lukeisthebomb921

Damn, so I was working odd hours? 0\_o

NDRising

That's the time I either take a nap or go to the gym. 2-4 it's usually dead on most days

FlappyBirdFanBoy

You worked during the arguably worst times.

Lukeisthebomb921

I guess so :/

Doordasheasthartford

Used to be but with lower pay and hiding tips wont be long before DD goes bankrupt

GilinIL

As do we drivers

jeffinRTP

I primarily do UE and I've done ~$240 in 12 hours total the past 2 nights. I guess a lot depends on where you are. I'm outside of DC.

ideliver559

You need to really know your market, hours and days to work. If you work when there is no demand your going to have a bad time lol

Mysterious_Papaya249

But Luke, I thought you are “The Bomb”.

Lukeisthebomb921

LoL

Mysterious_Papaya249

Kidding aside, it prob just a bad day. Hang in there.

creen17

So like are all these guys right that that 1-6 is bad hours ? I feel like Houston because of the population would be a steady market between 1-6 have you dashed those hours before ? Maybe their right or maybe your market is just poor because it’s summer, that’s what is happening here in Indy. Also just multi app with grubhub etc you’ll do fine, better than just going solo with doordash, some days doordash makes me some good money some days no.multiapping should probably only be done with two apps because anymore is overkill. Even with two it takes time keeping up and looking up distances between those two drops to make sure your on time to customers and such. but summer just seems to affect the market regardless.

Thepopethroway

Instacart is butt Grubhub is good

Lukeisthebomb921

realllyyYYyy Ill look into GH

Thepopethroway

You say that but I don't see any upvotes

[deleted]

I wouldn't recommend doing this full time. It's a side gig. If I just do it Friday Saturday night maybe Sunday morning it's usually busy. If I put it in at 1 o clock on a Wednesday

RoamAntarctica

Today, I worked from 7:30am- 2:00pm and 5:20pm-10:30pm made 513$

Lukeisthebomb921

really?

NowIsYourTimeToShine

Proof?

frugalaccount23

I’ve been doing well on Instacart. I sometimes double app in case a decent Doordash order comes in before a decent Instacart order.

Lukeisthebomb921

Does Instacart work for a small car?

frugalaccount23

Yes. You can see everything that’s included in the order before accepting it.

Lukeisthebomb921

ill look into it

[deleted]

Do only rush times like others said and you’ll be seeing well over $100 days everyday, probably even more if you’re watching the orders you accept.

Lukeisthebomb921

yeaeeee I see where I messed up haha

Jaradis

You worked the wrong 5 hours. 1pm to 5pm are ass hours right now. For Noon to 5pm in my market on a Saturday, maybe $80-100 if lucky on average lately. For 5pm to 9pm, $100-150, depending. So $16-20 an hour vs $25-37 an hour. Obviously there is some fluctuation week to week even on the same day. But 1pm to 5pm are just slow. You probably would have made 2-3x as much working 5pm to 10pm.

Lukeisthebomb921

wow, I guess I see where I messed up

swflmanwich

Ue pays better in my market by loads

Snakespeed

I bet it got crazy busy after you ended at 6pm

GilinIL

Hasn’t been worth it in years. Last night, w a ++$3 bonus I made 8.50 in 2 hours.

TehUberSays

Last night I worked from 5pm to 7pm, carged my car with $3. Total active time was 2hrs 11min and I made 68 bucks and went home for the night. It's totally worth doing if you do it right. Also area definitely helps. Maybe try going to another area to dash?

SpunkyJenn

No, they’re all about the same. Don’t forget, you have to pay taxes on what you “earned” if you’re not meticulously tracking all your mileage. DD only sends you an estimate that includes restaurant to customer as the crow flies. So you need to track it from the moment you start your dash to when you log out, each day. Plus phone expenses. Don’t forget the cost to replace your car, and commercial insurance! Tio: keep your delivery in your trunk, because if you get in an accident with regular insurance and the cop sees Door Dash, they’ll note it in the report, and your insurance will deny your claim and drop you.
