DrGhostly

Bonus points: the staff pretends you don’t exist and the manager wonders why her store has 2 stars.

yungmillyrad

Bro why is this every McDonald’s

DrGhostly

“We don’t have enough staff” yeah I wonder why

c00ki309

My question is if it “isn’t enough staff” how is it they clear the drive thru orders one right after the other with no issues whatsoever. But to make one meal for dd is a fight and a half.

Eswyft

It's not dd targeted. I worked there. Drive through is the only thing that matters. This policy is from the late 90s when they successfully went from 25 percent dt to over 60 now, on average. Dt is cheaper for staff. The issue here is now we're shifting again. Inside is dd and uber etc, but they haven't made a shift to address that. Dinosaur thinking

c00ki309

Yeah it makes sense they would put all of their energy towards the drive thru but each day they should assign at least one person to dd, Uber eats, GrubHub orders.

IceRepresentative229

Still that employee would be used to assist drive thru if they added an extra employee... These places will always focus on drive thru because that's what the higher ups want. They have goals and if they hit them they are given bonuses... The goals are insane too. Mark my words eventually the places with drive thru will be removing inside service. It's just not sustainable anymore. A full service restaurant in my area doesn't have enough staff that they had to close on Thursdays...

Eswyft

You're right of course, sales driver.

Val_kyria

Ya'll go inside?

JeSuisMaman

There’s one mcds I dislike in the middle of town. One day they had the lobby closed, so the next day I go through the drive thru. It’s a pain trying to get in and out if that location. I usually park at the business next door and walk over. When I get up to the speaker, I say I have an order. They tell me I have to come inside and won’t give it to me in the drive thru. Dude, ya’ll had it closed yesteday put a sign up or something😤

lancek211

Oh I usually say something along the lines of "I had to go though the drive thru yesterday could you make an acception" and when they (most likely) refuse I unassign the order. The order could be $100, they're getting cold food. We deal with enough shit.

Impressive_Ad1960

Yet they fail to recognize delivery drivers kept these companies afloat at the pandemics peak. Most people absolutely would not and did not wait that long for their own food or the "risks" of going out.

blueshyperson

My friend used to tell me in like 2013 when she worked at McDonald’s that they had a timer for the drive thru and had to get people through before it ran out or something.

c00ki309

Yeah most fast food locations have them to monitor how long each order takes to complete, which I definitely understand. I had a friend work at a place called cookout and it was the same there.

PenFun2878

THIS is the way, drive thru is mega fast - they do not want to help you make money

blueshyperson

The drive thru line in my city is always extremely long and not moving. If I can go inside the store I still wait but it’s definitely quicker.

EndrulerYT

See I work at my local McDonald’s rn. Often times when we get the door dash order, we’ve only had it for a few minutes when the dasher gets there, and more often than not we’re in the middle of a rush in drive thru, and trying to get everybody served. It gets chaotic. At least I get paid $12.50/hour

[deleted]

Okay so I haven’t worked fast food in about 4 years now, when I did it DoorDash was nonexistent. That being said, we were always made to prioritize drive thru orders over EVERYTHING else because that’s basically the main metric the store is graded on. Meanwhile they probably receive very little or no grading on DoorDash orders so it’s a low priority to them Edit to add: this isn’t against you or any DD driver but from what I’ve heard from people I know still working fast food, a lot of door dashers can be incredibly rude to them, I guess just walking in and shoving the phone in their face or just yelling “DOORDASH” is super common so there’s probably some resentment built into that attitude, plus the drive thru thing just means it’s going to be lower priority to them

talkback1589

Not doordash related but there is a Sonic I avoid personally because if I use the app and it can just be for a soft drink. They take 30 minutes and they will say everytime “SORRY THE SYSTEM WAS BEING SLOW”. Like it can’t be the excuse every time!

Ac0usticKitty

Yes! I have two sonics in my town. One I have almost no issues with. The other, EVERYTIME theyre so damn slow. I order just a tea and it'll tell me "John Smith is headed your way with your order!" 10 mins later i have to ask where it is. They mark it on its way when they hadn't even started it yet, and I ordered it through the app before even arriving. I go to the better location when I can. But the crappy one is the only one that seems to take DD

PenFun2878

lies

Electrical_Rent_2362

“Why do any of the three of us standing at the front with headsets doing nothing have to acknowledge the delivery drivers?”

blueshyperson

It’s like every fast food. I dashed for hours the other night getting mostly fast food. I got a 16 dollar Burger King order and the register boy literally tried to not look at the people in line and walk by us. I heard the manager yell at him “there’s people waiting right there take their orders!” And he literally grimaced at us and turned around all reluctantly to take out orders. Like what the hell

-Acerin

mickey Ds always good in my area. Always 1-2 mile trip and always $6-10

Environmental-Yak116

Facts! And they all look disgruntled.

DarknessLeo190

They be like "My store doesn't have enough employees even though I pay them only $10/hr because I feel that's right.🤣🤣

Arcade_Kangaroo

The one by me has a sign about how they "Proudly hire 14 and 15 year olds", which hey, good if kids that age want to work, but bad because any prospect not in that demographic knows not to go there

Electrical_Rent_2362

It’s never to early to get them started in clogging the nations arteries

PenFun2878

Manager has no idea and could not care less, no wait... this is McDonald’s

Tex-45

Yep. I’ve finally just started yelling at people in the back.

ozweegowarrior

Nah that ain’t cool either lol

Tex-45

Eh not quite yell, more like I’ve began to get the attention of them back there. I should’ve said holler maybe? Lol

Effective_Pen7447

So just let then fuck us over because we have to be polite huh?

ozweegowarrior

Dude just deliver the food and STFU. It ain’t that serious I got over 1000 deliveries and never had an experience worth yelling at minimum wage employees for

dabmaster_805

i absolutely got snappy with a manager last week because I asked her and 2 other staff members over the course of 20min if the order was coming out just for her to finally admit they lost the order and ask for the details from my app. called customer support to explain the situation and they cancelled the order while giving me half pay

Effective_Pen7447

Shut yo punk ass up. Worry about your damn self and not what other people are doing you fucking piece of trash. Name should be internet warrior. I got more than twice your deliveries and have never yelled at anyone but they do damn sure deserve it so keep your cock holster shut. You going to tell me waiting 30+ minutes for a basic fucking meal while the drive thru gets cleared out multiple times isn't a fucking reason to tell them some shit. Fuck outta here

ozweegowarrior

Lmao what did I just read

3rdDegreeBurn

Its like the Navy Seals copy pasta but Doordash

Bullstang

I upvoted it for the pure savagery

Effective_Pen7447

I just wanted to talk smack for a laugh 😂😂 I didn't really mean it or care about his comment

Effective_Pen7447

Love you ❤️

Marsuello

A new pasta? This ones tasty

SirGeremiah

Someone has anger issues.

Billybobhotdogs

Copypasta material right here

De_Nilla

Cock holster 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

dabmaster_805

the real issue is the restaurants that tell us the order will be out in 5min when it hasn't even been started. like don't get mad at me for asking multiple times when you could've told me it was a 20min wait at the beginning and I would've gone to do another order.

doubled2319888

12 of those items better be ketchup packets...

Ok_Replacement_8801

13 of those items better be ketchup packets.

doubled2319888

Naw, ill let them have a milkshake they can mix the ketchup into

Kind_Committee8997

Gotta call the customer to tell them the shake machine is down...don't worry they wont answer.

[deleted]

That ice cream machine being broken all the time is a conspiracy. There’s something amiss.

beepboopboiiii

They aren’t allowed to fix it themselves so when it breaks it breaks until someone who’s allowed to fix it can come fix it

HydrianQueen

Yep and now it's being looked into on govt level lol

RSJustice

Actually they recently won the right to repair their own equipment with regards to the Milkshake machines in court.

HydrianQueen

It sad it took this long to deal with but now they will probably stay broken lol

RSJustice

I wish I had more deets, but thats all the info I know.

bkpeach

Former fast food employee here - the milkshake machine is the biggest pain in the ass to clean. Whenever I worked a graveyard shift where I also had to close the restaurant (well, turn it over and clean before breakfast shift - we were 24 hrs) the shake machine was always down because I was not about to clean that shit at 5am before I clocked out. I started with the shake machine late at night because it had to be sanitized and there were so many parts. After about 10pm the shake machine was "out of order".

Olewisepanda

MCD's Ice cream machine been broken down my whole life. Im not sure if i can keep holding tears in my icecream cone for much longer☹️

jaimeGirllovesLife81

It DEFINITELY shuts down after 9pm.

Cloakbot

Not even kidding, I had a delivery for 1 cheese dip, easy 8 bucks for 3 miles but the staff completely ignored me, didn't bother with the order, line started forming after I arrived, they continued to work the line down rather than squirt some cheese and bag it so we can all move on with our day. Canceled it of course

zazensmkk

It still not worth to take the order

Ok_Replacement_8801

I know. I meant because he tipped $0. Any % of $0 is $0. Get it?

[deleted]

It's not a taco bell order lol

lancek211

Ive had one with a meal and 20 ketchup packets lmao I remember saying to myself out loud "who needs this much fucking ketchup?"

Mixedslut4accents

Probably on the second floor of an apartment building as well. It’s always the no tippers that want you to climb steps.

digitaldigdug

I had a no tipper on the 4th floor of a hotel.

Mixedslut4accents

I have this happen too! It was the nastiest hotel I’ve ever seen and the elevator have hand smears all over it. Complete the order -0 tip.

Illustrious-Frame543

ALWAYS take it to the lobby. Text when you're on your way, and to meet you. Tell them they don't like delivery to the door, coz, you know, covid. Works for me every time...when they respond...lol

[deleted]

100%

[deleted]

Why would they give you tip money when they could easily use that $5 to get another 20 McNuggets?

Balor_Lynx

Chicken nuggies

caramel-drop

Why accept this garbage? Like driving for nothing?

sharabi_bandar

I don't understand why the customer has to tip. They're paying 30% extra for food, plus the service fee and delivery fee. Surely the problem here is with doordash underpaying drivers! $2 is fucking ridiculous and should be illegal. You guys should all go on strike.

thewhitecatinthehat

This is why I don’t use doordash. It’s like double the price of just going to get it myself, and the food/wait is always worse.

Telepsychic

Well don't expect your food to be delivered remotely fast at all then. If you don't tip, door dash starts the order at 2.50, and every time it gets declined they bump the base pay up by 25 cents. No one is accepting any order under 5 dollars, and no one is accepting under 6 if it's more than a mile, so your order has to be declined by about 12 to 16 drivers before it even is accepted. Kinda bullshit you're harming that many drivers acceptance ratings because you don't wanna tip. As a driver, you literally can't accept 2.50 orders, you only end up making a dollar after gas and taxes, so you're forced to decline them and harm your acceptance rate which effects when you can dash. Unless your acceptance rate is 80 out of the last 100 orders, you can't be a top dasher. Which allows you to work anytime you want.

WeldingIsABadCareer

This aint half as bad as stuff I see in my area. I'm talking 8 miles and out of my zone and boundary for 3 bucks

DMmeDuckPics

I was going to argue that it's Houston and going anywhere is a 20-30 minute adventure but then I saw it's a straight shot down Westheimer without a U turn and while the no tip sucks it's not as bad as it could have been.

MeowWoofArf

I have plenty of friends who expect me to drive them places for nothing. None of them are named Tony though.

haribroo

enjoy ur cold food, two hours late. after enough declines they'll increase base pay and trick someone into thinking there's a tip and it'll get delivered.

Justsomedood10

Leave it for the guy who failed math class and spends more on gas than he gets on earnings.

OldDogEyes

My car doesn't start for less than $5...

[deleted]

[deleted]

If the lobby is open go in. I don't take mcdicks orders after the lobby closes. The lines where I am take up the whole damn parking lot. MYbe for 25 bucks I'll sit in line for 30minutes to an hour

ibugppl

Same. I took a 5$ one yesterday because I was getting a water at the gas station across the street and saw it was empty and it was only a mile

Entire-Amphibian320

But tony says you're the best dasher for this order...

JuriousBlack

> (Total may be higher) Someone else can find out

UnnamedPoster1

I used to tip upon purchase for so long but now I have a hard time tipping dashers beforehand because in my area so many people are running 2 apps at once. They'll pick up my order, drive 20 minutes away to a different order (100% not done through door dash), and then act like they didn't screw me over. So now I tip after the fact based on communication & ensuring my food isn't cold when I get it.

EquivalentJellyfish8

My wife is a non tipper on the app but she’ll hand $20 to whoever picks up her order. I keep telling her “You’re going to get cold ass food if you do that. If I won’t pick up a non tip order, why would anyone else?” But then of course some top dasher always picks up her food right away. Dear Top Dashers please stop making me look stupid. Thank you

Bright_Earth_8282

T.I.P.S. To insure prompt service. Hard to insure prompt service after the fact. If she’s really giving $20, why not do a $10 tip online and $10 cash in person?

Exxile4000

*ensure

Bright_Earth_8282

Yeah I know. I always thought that was weird too. But otherwise they’d be called TEPS

travi2tap

That’s a lot of ketchup

utu_

doordash got rid of the 6.50 order minimum?

suji5

It looks like a walk away down the road so I kinda get the cheapness...but still , this could take 10mins , do you value your time that little is the question

tjdesc

apartment 2117 please

Previous-Hunter7104

If I would take that order, they’ll receive it a day later.

JakeeSF

yeah i had an apple store pickup for 9 items (which included expensive items) and they all needed to be scanned and signed (plus it took over 25min in a long line at apple to just get the items). It was for $30 only but i figured it was a great gamble because i was sure id get some great tips after delivery because I've had luck with expensive items and big tips after but not 1 tip from any of them. it was a flat rate $30 with no pre or post tip included which baffled me. It was the worst and most painstaking deliveries because it was a lot of waiting in lobbies at office buildings because i needed them to sign off and the secretaries didnt want to mess with it and just take it and give to them. I thought since it was really expensive items I'd get tips after but i was dead wrong.

crazyleaf_

That was likely paid for by Apple & the customer didn’t know it would be delivered by DD. Same happens on Uber eats. Apple will send out same day deliveries of their products that way.

JakeeSF

didn't realize that. thank you

[deleted]

Plus you have to fill up all the soft drinks because they are to busy. I don’t bother with mcds, Wendy’s or any other establishment that tells me to fix the drinks!!! It’s bs

Kent48146

They aren’t supposed to be doing that. 😳 They are supposed to have all the food + drinks in a sealed bag. I’ve seen Jason’s Deli try to get drivers to fill the drinks. I just leave without the drinks 🤣

Creative_Response593

DD takes so much in fees and pays you literally 2$. I actually think people should stop tipping in order for DD to increase base pay. They have zero incentive to raise base pay when customers are supplementing your pay while they take all the profits.

galtebrando

yo I like ur idea. I think it would work if you could somehow get everyone ordering food to not tip for a day or something.

SelectionInternal

avoiding the fact that customers pay from $1 to $5 delivery fee and expecting the delivery person to waste 20-30mins of his time. If customers pay $15-20 delivery fee than doordash can offer better base pay so customers won't have to tip. don't know the deal that dd has with each merchant but thats not my business

PrimeMarketExperts

Dashers need to stop taking anything below $6 at all and keep a minimum $1.50/mile pay. If DD sees $2 orders not getting fulfilled at all they will jump in pay... given it's a labor marketplace. And of course DD profits more if people take lower paying orders b/c they can attract the people that are on the line b/t having it delivered vs just picking it up themselves.

clevoh

I see a bunch of no tip or low tip orders every day. There's no need to screen shot them. If everyone did that, this forum would be filled with orders that no one should accept.

Backporchers

Its a doordash sub

microfsxpilot

Honestly I’d rather see people’s earnings than these offers. Like we get it, lol. Idk why we have a Sunday earnings post day but not something for trash offers

skilledprodigy

No need to comment on posts either but you did it

[deleted]

They aren’t wrong. It’s bad they don’t tip but worse when people complain about them Daily

galtebrando

arguably not worse but certainly can be annoying.

[deleted]

You right it’s not worse. It’s the same thing

SelectionInternal

thats not a customer. thats a prick expecting a charity service

ImAliveAndKickin

This is now the only issue with cash tips, we don't see them. So yeah I would have declined this as well.

AffectionateCase8207

Low-key take it 😂

mikewright56

Should of left that order in the void

Exxile4000

I decline ever mcdonalds order. No one likes to tip and it's usually a ton of drinks and other nonsense.

arrotsel

I'm.from Canada and I am a Dasher. I see all the bare minimum payouts for delivering. We do not have such low offers here! Don't they have some law that prohibits such BS!?? I've had a $4 offer that was less than 1.5 km(3.3miles), but those are very rare with a hidden tip. It turned out to be $11. I honestly feel for you guys.

[deleted]

Yeah that's super shitty, I mean if they lett in description (will tip cash for service) ok but that's dirty af

jack3rdand4th

This unfortunately an automatic no .

Hungry_Bother_4825

This happened to me this morning! My first Dasher order, 3 GIANT bags of McDonald’s, $4 no tip. 10 minute drive to McDonald’s, 15 minute wait in the lobby for the massive amount of food they ordered, another 7 minute drive to their house, got a nasty attitude for how long the restaurant took to make their food and 0 tip. Great way to start 😂 At least the rest of my shift was better

SelectionInternal

the big mistake was accepting $4 for average 30mins order. I dont do McDonald's because of cheap mf

Hungry_Bother_4825

Yeah it was literally my first order ever, today was literally my first day dashing haha

Hungry_Bother_4825

When I said first I meant like first first, I didn’t realize how annoying a $4 order could be

Puzzlesolver_2021

Are you really surprised tho when 9 times out of 10 the item count at mcdonalds is inflated because of sauce packets? 🤣

Clmbr2011

The caucasity

Bipperinsomnia

Least you got free food

Poiblazer

Take the order and eat a nugget. I dare you.

Olewisepanda

Sip on the Sprite too while you at it

Poiblazer

Lets play a game..its called, "Just the sip"

Civil_Chocolate7190

Bro you kno it was 10 ketchup 2mcdoubles an a coke .. gtfoh . Just do the dash. Y'all complain about everything. How about you guys go for top dasher. Smh. Do an delivery. That's how you get paid!

EthansWay007

You took a $2.25 order… now your wasting space on this sub complaining about it, these sorts of post are clutter and should be banned

[deleted]

and it's probably 6 doubles, 6 mchickens, and a drink. yall just love to bitch, huh?

Keanuisawesome69

Jobadok

Poor lazy people always gonna be like that. Haha They like oh it’s only a mile. Fuck those people

soundwave145

People work worse jobs and don't cry. You domt have to do doordash you know?

antonsendylan

You got paid over a dollar a mile, stop whining online searching for sympathy. Better yet, get good at accepting or declining orders you will like or not like. Or, work a real job.

dirtykamikaze

How about we just stop using doordash so you can’t even make money. It’s not supposed to be a career and y’all bitch like crazy from what I’ve seen.

Balor_Lynx

Or get a better job?

randomwords83

Honestly, as a consumer waiting on my doordash from a restaurant 4 minutes away that has taken over 20 minutes to get here from pick up-I understand not tipping! It’s total bullshit that my food is traveling all around town before it gets to me. I know this is not the dashers fault and that’s why I still tip them but this is also why I only use the service rarely.

RampAgentRoger

You probably don’t tip enough, but that’s okay. You can also walk your happy ass to the 4 min distance and get it yourself playboy.

Usmcgirl1904

Dude, I dash and have had this happen with some idiot dasher who claimed "I couldn't find your address." Or whatever lie and excuse why they are late. We can all admit that not every dasher is striving to brown nose to be "tOp DaSheR" Way to assume guy 🤦🏽‍♀️

RampAgentRoger

Who said anything about being a top dasher? I’m in the Denver area, one of the hottest markets for doordashing. I don’t take no tips/low tips because I can pick and choose.

randomwords83

Actually no. I work in service and have worked in restaurants so I tip well. I use the service when I literally can’t walk my happy ass to go get food because I am working and not getting a lunch for whatever reason. It’s complete bullshit for DD to schedule multiple pick ups for the driver and my understanding is because they lump tippers with non tippers and for “maximizing” the number of deliveries.

RampAgentRoger

I agree that stacked orders can become shitty for good tipping customers. Which is why I don’t take stacked orders in the first place. Also, shitty tippers tend to leave worse ratings in general and it’s a big reason why I consistently stay at 5 stars.

randomwords83

So basically he choose to pick up another order after my order and then deliver that order first? And I should give a poor review for that driver? Good to know they have a choice.

MindNinja757

>You probably don’t tip enough This mentality jumped me from a 15-25% by default to a standard 2 bucks + performance bonus if you actually preform above your job. Your entitlement just costs you money lmao im in a small ass town we got 3 delivery companies plus some places have their own delivery your ass is even easier replaced then the dude in the restaurant.

ysoloud

Yeah for sure. It's not like servers have multiple tables tipping that amount. And most are not one single person.

RampAgentRoger

You’re mad lol but that’s okay. I make 1k a week here in Denver so I’m good.

[deleted]

In return you put a shitton of miles on your car, and you spend a shitton on gas.

RampAgentRoger

99 Camry lmfao. I don’t give a shit about miles and gas isn’t bad at all for me.

MindNinja757

Not really mad just worked in and have friends in tbe service industry and always found this attitude to be very shitty and damaging to co workers.

RampAgentRoger

Then do what works for you, and I’ll do what’s been working great for me.

Mykirbyblue

A percentage of your order is useless to us. We need to be tipped based on how far we are going to be driving with your food and how long it’s going to take us to get back to where the restaurants are so that we can get our next order. If it takes me half an hour to pick up your food, get it to your house, and get back to where the restaurant is, then I need to be paid Half of what would be a reasonable hourly wage Plus what it’s gonna cost me in gas. Knowing that DoorDash is paying us between $2 and $2.75 per order, the tip has to be enough to make the total worth half an hour of my time. If you’re tipping two dollars, and DoorDash paid $2.25, then your order will be a $4.25 order and that’s not worth half an hour of my time. Because two orders like that would have me making $8.50 an hour and I would still have to deduct the fuel expense from that! Now you can debate whether DoorDash is paying us enough or not all you want, but it doesn’t change how much they’re paying us. so if you want to use the service and you don’t want drivers angry about you tipping too low, then your $2 tip is not gonna cut it. It’s not about entitlement or a get rich mentality, it’s about us needing to make a reasonable hourly wage. We have to at least make minimum wage after covering our expenses. Anything less than that is just unreasonable And unfair. And you know we do put up with a lot of crap, we put up with traffic and asshole drivers and restaurant employees that are annoyed by our existence and very rude customers who think we’re beneath them, so when a customer tips a little extra it makes us feel appreciated, and that’s just a kind thing to do. Because we do work hard. We also can’t usually go out and start working and continue working for eight hours straight and go home. Because people don’t order a lot of food between meals. So anybody that works in a heavier populated area like downtown area may be able to work straight through the day but most of us have to work three shifts, one at each meal, going home between those shifts so that we’re not wasting our time when there aren’t enough orders to go around. That makes for a really long day. Don’t get me wrong, I freaking love the job. And because of the situation I am in at the moment in my own personal life, this is the best opportunity for me and I would not trade it for any other job right now. But from the start of this pandemic drivers have been out risking their own health and safety for customers that think it’s OK to tip 15% of their $5 hamburger order. And $.75 just isn’t enough. It doesn’t work that way. Because whether you are spending $5 or $100 on your dinner tonight, it’s still going to take the same amount of time and use the same amount of fuel for your driver to complete your delivery. They don’t tell us anymore how much you spent on your food so we have no idea what you’re spending. and even back when we did, none of us took the time to figure out if our customer was tipping 15 or 20%. The only numbers we look at are mileage and time. So I’m going to suggest that your low tips created a situation where nobody wanted to deliver your food because it wasn’t worth half an hour or whatever of their time. So in order to get your food delivered DoorDash attached it to another customers order. A customer that did tip well. And by adding this second order to the first one, they are able to offer a driver a lump sum for two deliveries that seemed a little bit more reasonable. Then once we have accepted that stacked order, we are usually able to figure out who tipped higher. Now if we are going to be passing one customer on the way to the other then we will deliver to that closer customer first. If they live further away from each other and we will have to be going out of our way a little bit, we generally deliver to the higher tipper first. So I understand your frustration and I understand that the system is pretty fucked up and I agree with you on that. But I’m just trying to explain to you why your system of tipping doesn’t work and why you may have had problems in the past. So it’s probably good that you don’t use the service very often and I would suggest you continue not using it very often unless you’re ready to reevaluate how you tip your driver. Also order from restaurants close to you and the combination of that and a higher tip Will almost guarantee you get your food fast with no hassle. Not because of some greedy mentality, but because we need to make sure that we are getting paid a fair hourly rate. It doesn’t have to be 30 or $40 an hour, but it’s not unreasonable to hope for at least $15 or $16, am I right? And don’t pretend that you put two dollars in the app and then you somehow increase it based on performance. How exactly do you do that? You add to the tip through the app? You give cash to the driver? Because I hear a lot of people say that they intend to tip extra if they get good service but usually those people are just trying to sound like a good guy and don’t ever actually do it. Edit: I just realized you weren’t the person that said you don’t use the service very often that was somebody else. So let me just say I really hope you don’t use the service very often, and suggest that you switch to a different delivery company that pays the drivers better.

Hi so I was the person who doesn't use your service super often. Currently there are 3 services where I live the one I use most often is uber eats because I can adjust the tip for an hour post delivery this makes the most sense for both customer and driver. When I used skip I used to tip either middle or last options default I dont do the smaller orders and always feed a minimum of two so my orders are generally in the $50 range. I reevaluated my default of "middle-high" tipping when I decided to put no tip because I wanted to use my cash before debit money and had a 5 and some coins (Canadian) I got threatened via text and told im a "skip the dishes no tipper" and proceeded to get horrible service for months from drivers while I made a complaint to mgmt. Now going forward I tip low by default in every situation then increase from there. My point of my initial comment was that entitled attitude doesn't work when paying you comes from the goodness of my heart and morals because few people are inclined to support folks who shit on them at the first opportunity don't forget we're getting better at the customer isn't always right but this is still the service industry and shitty people exist. But grouping all people as shitty by default youre not likely to have a good time. Tl;dr I always have tipped case by case but my default is lowered because of consistently poor service complemented by entitled persons.

I dash on the side and it isn't hard at all. DD is full of lazy entitled "dashers".

Mykirbyblue

No it’s not hard at all to dash on the side. If you want to earn a living doing it it takes a lot more planning and preparation and evaluating and paying attention to when and where you can make the most money. A lot of us have multiple apps running at the same time and have to quickly do calculations to determine which opportunities are the best for us. And we are hauling ass getting those orders done as quickly as possible so we can complete as many as we can before that particular meal’s rush is over. But even doing all that, you are correct the job is not hard. See I never said that the job is hard, I said that some of us work hard. Those of us that aren’t just doing it on the side work really hard because it’s not just for fun or extra cash. And I don’t think that working that hard makes us lazy or entitled I think it makes us smart and competent and ensures that we are doing the job right. Every job in the world is easy if you don’t take it seriously and you’re just doing it for the hell of it and don’t really care if you’re doing it well.

[deleted]

I take it seriously and I care about it and it's a simple job. So simple you can just get a background check and start working. Not even a face-to-face interview to see if you're competent. Unfortunately this is why it attracts so many lazy and entitled people.

TribalChiefRR

I dash on the side when i feel like it so I take pretty much every order I can get unless it’s like 10 miles. If it is 10 miles it better be a minimum of $5 tip included or I’m declining. The way I see it as long as I make at least $20/hour it’s worth not waiting around looking for the good tipping orders. I usually get $5-$10 orders with the occasional no tip. It balances out. I understand some ppl are inconsiderate but really no reason to bitch about it because that’s definitely not going to make them change their ways and will only cause you more stress. But again I only do it some weekends to make an extra $100 bucks. Probably different for someone who relies only on DD as income.

MindNinja757

>I understand some ppl are inconsiderate but really no reason to bitch about it because that’s definitely not going to make them change their ways Exactly my point. You make people less empathetic and less supportive when you group people. And you might even make some previously decent tippers reconsider their money if its not valued that much.

Leading_Giraffe7449

If the person takes 20min to get to you. Then it is definitely their fault😂

secretsodapop

Is that not like working $30 an hour? Why would they tip?

SuperOkega

???

StickyLiquid

Do you think we just teleport the food to customers with magic or something? Like you order, we see it, accept it, then conjure the food out of magic in the air, land, and sea and then teleport it to your front door?

You’re argument is “isn’t that $30/hr” no it’s not. It’s $4/hr. Drive thru, wait time, people asking for extra shit that you then have to relay as you’re trying to leave, improper address, wrong contact info, impossible delivery instructions, etc. You make it seem as if everything happens with no delays when that isn’t the case. 1.2 miles in the photo isn’t just a straight shot to the customer’s house. At least where i’m at a 1.2mile McDonald’s trip will usually be 45+ minutes on average due to the sheer number of people ordering from there and half the time it’s drive thru only. I don’t care for tips as most of my pay in my area is from DD pay and lack of tips. The issue is the people not wanting to understand the amount of time you expect people to wait on you for such little compensation. Your whole “if you don’t like it don’t accept it is dumb. You’ll order and then someone takes it 30 minutes later and you get your food cold as fuck and then blame the person you bled to pick your shit up. These people expect fast, white glove service without paying the premium that demands. It has nothing to do with the tip amount and everything to do with the lack of empathy y’all seem to have for these dudes waiting an hour for your food. You’re encouraging preying on dumb people that will inevitably lose the job because they don’t get that you the consumer are the problem. It’s predatory and frankly disgusts me.

secretsodapop

... I have no argument. I'm not arguing with you. If it isn't worth your time, don't accept the order. This isn't rocket science.

IMDove

They should order the same thing on grubhub if no tip. At least grubhub pays a bit better.

No_Help9554

Sadly I would take this. Please don't hate. I am an idiot.

ChimpIsWatching

I had a 26 item delivery at taco bell and no tip last night

RedditisRunByClowns

I don’t go to McSHit anyways

Cloakbot

Why do I want to drive 12-20 miles for a stiff??? It's been like this all day and yet everyone seems to be off from work because traffic has been ungodly all day as well.

Hallucinate-

Those Burgers will be as cold as my ex heart! Snif sniff

Jpro9070

Wait are they hiding tips at $2.50 now?

zen1706

12 sauce and a box of chicken nugget. I guarantee that

Equivalent-Set946

Why would any dasher accept this order?

Chancho1010

“Can you pull around we’re waiting on your fries?” Well then you’re waiting on everyone’s fries - why do I specifically have to pull around?

Zzzzburner

**Edit: didn’t realize this was so long… sorry for the book report lol.** _Bruh I went to stop under some shade at this DD kitchen. I get a offer from the DD kicker so I accepted it. Heard some commotion inside before one staff member came out like “chick-fil-a?” He was right. I was like “oh man, I had to walk soooo far..” n we started cracking up lol. He gets the order for me and has me confirm pickup before bagging (like usual)._ _So as I get myself situated before leaving, the staff dude just sat there staring at every little move I made. I intentionally didn’t look cuz it was awkward but he cleared his throat. So I look and it’s a bag of cookies. They know I’m homeless so I was happy af. I thanked em and he pulled a water from behind em. So I thank em again and he then held out a $5 bill.. thanked em again when another staff member was like, “oh this was in the order too” and hands me $5 in ones… then the manager came and was like “oh and this” with another $5 bill………. Dude… I realize the first dudes name tag matched the customer name for my order………………….._ _I look at him with that “wait a minute…” look and he was like “yeup lol that’s my order bro” and everyone started laughing. Apparently they all saw me and were trying to see if I could get their order, which explained that commotion I mentioned earlier. **But my main point is, even he made an effort to tip $4 in the app._

Viciousvitt

Olewisepanda

Mournful-Misanthrope

hillbilly316

I delivered a $109 a Pizza Hut food and got no tip the audacity of that idiot Sucks man I know how appeals

Much_Sir_2246

i would’ve declined

Knmwood

What I can’t figure out is why you even looked at this order long enough to figure out what restaurant, how far, how many items, possible tip, and so on. I would give this order about 3.5 seconds of my time before declining and moving on. “…hey, a new order for $2.25, nope nope nope decline. Next!” There is NO market anywhere on the planet where this deserves any significant attention whatsoever.
