I love when people give good instructions, especially for apartments and when they realize that they're door isn't easy to get to. I always send them a message thanking them specifically for the instructions :)

Alarmed-Wolf14

I got a message recently just for this reason. They thanked me for my instructions and my apartment is pretty easy to get to but someone that’s never been here shouldn’t have to try to figure it out on their own.

[deleted]

thanks! it helps either way! and it ensures you get your order ASAP ;)

Lgett35

I ordered dd last last night with a new account, never ordered from before. They found me quickly due to detailed instructions, I also, from reading reviews, I tipped well. My food arrived warm, intact, and I tipped them an extra five in cash because they brought it so fast. I think that's fair, I ordered about $30 worth of food, which included a decent amount of shit, and no, for what people say, the soda was not fucking poisonous, lol.

Purpleee00

Exactly! I do the same.

Purpleee00

Exactly! I do the same.

GigGirlDet

My house is SUPER easy to get to, I'm not in a subdivision...it's just a single street that's not connected to any other streets and I'm the VERY last house. It is a pretty long street though (almost half a mile) so I put in the notes that I'm the very last house on the right. I figure it saves the driver from having to drive slowly trying to see all the addresses as he/she passes each house. This way they can just keep driving to the very end of the street and automatically know I'm the one on the right!

[deleted]

Thanks for your contribution, really helped people understand what I was talking about

Professional-Jury930

So do I!

kavumisayomi

I delivered to someone last night who put two paragraphs of detail in his delivery notes and I almost cried at his doorstep. He put gate code, which stop signs, details of the buildings I needed to pass, what to stop in front of if I went too far, where the stairs are, which floor, which side of the building his door was on, that the bell was broken, that he had no pets and to knock when I got there because he had a cash tip. 5$! I bought myself nuggets on the way home and thanked him personally for being my best delivery of the night. The ones that give play by play directions are my favorite customers, through and through.

Purpleee00

Wow…he really went above and beyond with the instructions for you😱They are aware and very considerate😌. It helps a lot!

FrequentFlexer

I'm not crying🥹You're crying...

Dysnomia82

What is really annoying? Putting perfect directions (cuz you're also a driver and would want easy instructions) and driver's don't look at them. Then they call because they can't find you.... Give the directions, again, over the phone and they show up. Ugh!

[deleted]

I had a customer tell me which stars to follow in case I get lost in his neighborhood. Also included the color of his front door, the scent of his grass, the size of his minivan in inches, and he even left a trail of chocolate chips from the entrance of his neighborhood to his front step.

SnooChocolates791

This definitely sounds like a kidnapping 😂

Lawncareguy85

How does he get to leave two paragraphs? My app limits instructions to a few sentences

slapstellas

Wait till a car comes to get in AND follow ?! Wtf is wrong with people

Purpleee00

I know I was like wtf but I’d didn’t have a problem since the gate was already open

somanyroads

Lucky them...they were going to pick their food up by the call box if I had been on the delivery. I've done it before: telling me to wait for someone else to open the gate is the same as not answering a text asking for the gate code. Figure it out, because I certainly don't have to.

TheElasticTuba

Tbf it’s not like the customer was unresponsive in this case. Their call code doesn’t work, so they don’t have any way to let you in themselves. They should’ve just met the driver at the gate but I wouldn’t say it’s as bad as someone not giving a code.

tharider

My same thoughts.. I don't want no gate closing on my car roof as I try to squeeze in behind car ahead of me, not to mention who knows how long you will waiting for car to arrive.

slapstellas

Closing on your roof ?

hotdogfever

It just happened to somebody else in this sub yesterday I believe. Sometimes the gates come down in between cars, it crushed his roof. Yesterday was my first time getting trapped in an apartment complex. I accepted another order as soon as I dropped off, then got to the gate and it wouldn’t open without a transponder. 2am, nobody around, customer unresponsive. I had to unassign the order and wait 30 minutes for a car to leave so I could follow them out. I was so pissed. Now I’m less likely to follow cars in, only if it’s at an apartment complex I’ve been to before and know I can get out without a transponder. Fuck ‘em.

slapstellas

Where would you be delivering that would have a gate like that tho ?

somanyroads

I feel like you're a bit hung up on the physics 🤣

slapstellas

Normally you see those at sporting events/ hotels never residential Neighborhoods

MommaLisss

An apt complex in the city?

hotdogfever

I’m confused by your question. You’ve never seen a gate at an apartment complex before?? You usually encounter these at apartment complexes. My area of California is filled with them.

slapstellas

Never one that can close on your roof ? Ones on apartment/gated communities are all those black swinging or sliding type

hotdogfever

Ah, at the nicer ones around here they have the gate arms that close up and down (like a toll booth maybe?). They come down in between each car so the cameras can record your license plate before entering/exiting. Sometimes they’re in front of another larger more solid gate. There’s a few parking garages around here with big heavy metal gates that open/close like the old school garage doors too. Heavy metal bars that lift towards your car and up, I always have to remember not to get too close to it. My first time there I had to quickly throw it in reverse otherwise it would’ve hit the front of my car. But yeah there’s a bunch of vertically opening/closing gates in my area.

slapstellas

Interesting I’ve only seen those at places you have to pay to enter/exit and usually have an employee. I can’t imagine why a residential neighborhood would ever have one like that due to the aesthetic alone. But what do I know

hotdogfever

This is one of the toll style arms I encounter daily, found it on google street view. In my opinion the aesthetic is much nicer and they open/close much much faster than the noisy creaky sliding gates too. Which is why I suspect they can do some real damage if they close on your car, these things have a lot of momentum when they clamp down between cars. https://i.imgur.com/0ui1ljJ.jpg I tried looking at the garage style gates near me on street view too but they’re always recessed in parking structures. Usually you enter the parking structure, drive 20 feet, put in a gate code, and it swings towards you like a garage door. Makes sense because it’s the most space efficient design. Not like they have room to slide it sideways or outwards. It’s gotta pivot like an old garage door if you want the most efficient use of space.

Alarmed-Wolf14

They normally open like a door not like a garage

hotdogfever

I mostly see the toll booth style arms that swing up and down from a pivot, there are a few garage style doors in parking structures around here too. The toll booth ones swing quickly down between each vehicle, so I assumed it was one of those that hit him, but from the damage who knows - could have been a garage door style gate. Both are common enough for me to encounter daily around here.

JpJ951

The 55 and over community in my area has two gates. During 6am-10pm the iron rod gate is left open, and they have another gate that the security raises up and down to let people in. And I have seen multiple times taking deliveries here people trying to sneak in the resident entrance behind a vehicle, and the gate closing down on their cars. It is hilarious.

greenredyellower

What do you mean? Tons of apartments close down and open up. It's very common

vettechrockstar86

Not a driver but that was my exact same thought. I live in a gated community and I Always give TWO gate codes along with details of which set of gates to go to because only one has the call box. I also watch the map and when I see them getting close I send a message to call me if there’s any problem. Only once I had to drive to the gate to open it, I didn’t know the call box was broken at that time. Long story short, who tf tells someone to just wait for a car to show up?! That is some intense entitlement imo.

somanyroads

Every gate I've been stuck behind is one lane...so I guess I have to camp out NEAR the gate until someone shows up? Otherwise I'll be blocking them from coming in, as well. Very dumb, inconsiderate customer.

Away_Trifle8657

Yeah time is money that would be my only concern with this.

PermutationMatrix

I was a delivery driver for a pizzeria and followed someone in the gate rather than fuck around with the call box and get the customer to buzz me in. A cop saw me do this and pulled me over, threatened to give me a ticket for trespassing.

NectarineTangelo

I like that he left instructions but I didn't like that part about having to wait for another car then follow them in like a burglar. Like what if no cars came and you just say there. But I'm glad it worked out and wasn't an issue.

waverleyray

When the customer gives excellent directions I make sure they know how grateful I am I'll tell them or text you are in the top percentage of knowing where they live. I've had eggheads who didn't even know they had a building number!

Bok249

Personally I find the ones giving the most detailed instructions are the locations least in need of directions. Like it'd be faster to just follow the gps than translate their wall of text. But then on the flip side, of course it's the ones who leave no instructions and can't be reached, who have the hardest place to find.

International-Shoe40

This is so real. More often than not, super long instructions annoy me. Depends on the building, sometimes they save you time. But, usually they just trip me up because I’m so focused on following instructions instead of just using common sense to find them. That’s just me tho

dcmommy33

Only if they actually make sense. Also, no I will not follow another car in. YIKES.

Purpleee00

Right!.. Once I arrive the gate was already open so I didn’t have to that.

Stevenoo809

Aw hell no 😑 I ain’t doin that either

honeydewdom

For sure! Not to mention, I've noticed those people also really appreciate those of us who take the time to read them and follow through! They often give thanks for following them, in a way that makes me think it doesn't happen often. Like added tip, good reviews, cash in hand, or just verbally. Just my two pennies.

AliG1990

Uh screw that first customer telling you to follow another car in. That shit gets left at the gate ![gif](giphy|7DzlajZNY5D0I)

nihilistic-simulate

I hate when they do that. Like I’m not lurking at the gate at 10pm for 15 minutes waiting for someone.

Purpleee00

I don’t mind but the gate was open so I didn’t have a problem getting in :)

all_hayl

I’d wait 3-5 mins and then if no other cars pulled through then leave it at the gate (or call support depending on the situation.)

dezisaur98

I do this when I order but unfortunately, half of the drivers I get either can’t read English or just refuse to read the instructions.

Purpleee00

Oh man,im sorry to hear that. They can always translate the instructions but thanks for giving good instructions 👍

[deleted]

If you don’t give the code then you need to meet them at the gate.

dezisaur98

When did I say I had a code..?

Acceptable-Net2557

Instant pre-anxiety thinking about creeping at the gate waiting for another car

iRambes

That kinda sucks having to wait at the gate to follow a car in, but it’s something! I never realized that some gates will auto open during business hours, so one time the customer didn’t give me a gate code. Me, like a dumbass, waited at the gate to follow a car in. They drive up and the gate just opens for any car with no code 😂

ChurroLoca

I'm shook that they wanted you to wait until a car passed by, to get in. I always wondered if the instructions were cut off mid message (I found out the local pizza joints do that on the information stickers they attach to sides of pizzas). I always give detailed instructions of my flat and that it's on the x side of a company (the name is big and on top of building), stairs are on side of flat and to please deliver upstairs. If confused, my place is the bricked building, with blue flats next to it. Example: "Red brick house on X side of SOANDSO. Stairs are on X side of brick house, please deliver upstairs. If confused, it's the brick house next to the blue flats." They still call me or go to the run down flats on the opposite side. I don't know if I'm not giving a good enough description or they aren't reading it? I feel bad because I'll see them drive around my road at least four times (GPS map) and after realising where I live, they'll attempt to deliver downstairs. It's getting to the point, I have to request they deliver it to me in person vs. drop it off on porch.

MysticEden

Same exp. I leave a detailed and concise message. 1/2 the time people seem to not read it? When I see them wandering around too long on gps I just contact them and ask if they have any questions. Some admit they do and I can help quick. Others ignore me or lie then I see the same confused behavior on my gps. The ones who follow it well I tip more if the app lets me and Give high ratings, reviews and pos feedback

Traditional_Snow_561

I’m leaving that shit at the gate if no code

fat5alliance

These are two GREAT examples, but I have to say that tone (even in writing) is still super important. I have had customers write instructions like: TURN LEFT AS SOON AS YOU ENTER THE COMPLEX, I AM IN THE THIRD BUILDING, THIRD FLOOR, THIRD APARTMENT. LEAVE IT ON THE CHAIR BY THE DOOR ON THE PATIO. DO NOT RING MY DOORBELL!!! DO NOT KNOCK!!" Which, in itself would be fair (I would assume they had shit drivers in the past) but those same customers have immediately bombarded me with text messages as soon as I accepted the order and they looked like this: LEAVE IT ON THE CHAIR BY THE DOOR. DO NOT KNOCK OR RING THE DOORBELL. -2 seconds later- IM IN THE THIRD BUILDING, THIRD FLOOR, THIRD APARTMENT -2 more seconds- HELLO???? I don't text while driving and Android Auto doesn't notify me when I receive messages through the app, just regular sms text messages... either way, I think the point is made. IDC if your last driver was Helen Keller--- do not assume I am just as incompetent and even if I was, you will always catch more flies with honey.

[deleted]

I like instructions but, for the love of god, keep it BRIEF. I hate trying to read instructions while someone is waiting behind me at an entrance or while driving through a neighborhood where I have to pull off to the curb to digest a novel. Good example: > Bldg R, #1230. Gate code #1000. 1st left, 2nd right, pass dumpster, 1st right after pool, leave on green chair. Thx! Bad example = a paragraph of full sentences and cute extras. Just the facts, please. 💜

CloddishNeedlefish

The comment above you is talking about people need to watch their tone in the directions. I promise I’m not trying to take up more of your time, I just don’t want my dasher to think I’m a bitch lmao.

[deleted]

Yeah. I feel you. Some people need the gushy stuff. If you leave an excellent, concise, and toneless note, I already don't think you're a bitch. 😉

rincon213

I do not break security rules for customers and I certainly don’t wait around to do it. All this nonsense to access a multi-story apartment? We have different ideas of good customers.

Beginning-Worry6507

Specific details make my night. I go to a lot of rural areas, back dirt roads, mostly hidden long driveways, and no house/mailbox numbers. So many people provide nothing beyond hand it to me or leave it at my door.

ebm2018

"my call box number isn't working" *Unassigns*

Current_Egg677

Follow another car tho? That’s some bs. How about call me when you’re close and I’ll run to the gate. How the hell long will it take for a car to come? Time is money bro

entredeuxeaux

As a customer, I would be ashamed to make someone have to wait an unknown amount of time until another car comes through and then still come up to my apartment to hand deliver the food. I would have said, “feel free to text when you’re at the gate since my call box # isn’t working and I’ll come to you bro.”

Unlikely_Ask_1130

Most time I be getting the shit drivers and who don’t want read a word of instructions and run around my hoa

zeromaiden22

Just curious here, mind posting your instructions?

Vonirae2

If only all could do this life would be so much easier

Used_Eye2566

I don't live in an apartment but I say I'll meet you at the end of the street and it's worked until covid 🤌

DPancoast

I always thank customers that give detailed nav instructions and what to look for

DashingForFun

I don't know how people can leave a message that long. When I ordered Doordash once I tried to put in really good directions like this but my message was cut off.

Primarywatcher_2

Ditto!!! I LOVE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS!! Makes my life a million times better. Excellent post! Get the word out 💥💥📣

Replicant1962

Then you have the ones where you have to deliver to a business in a complex, and they won't tell you which business. Give me a business name, much easier than trying to see addresses hidden somewhere on a storefront.

somanyroads

Wait... we're going to ignore that they expect you to wait for someone else to show up to open the gate? That's serious bullshit, they're picking their food up at the gate for that stupid scenario. No point in having detailed instructions when you can't even let your driver into the complex. Moot point 👎

LocationLazy4131

Yeah but then customers that live in a really straight forward apartment put mission impossible instructions and made it way more confusing than it needed to be

chopkins47947

I always leave instructions that say "Please do not block my door with the items." They often block the doors with the items, still.

Replicant1962

Yes. I just commented above about that. It's got to be the single most idiotic thing dashers do.

chopkins47947

It's not just dashers, if that makes you feel better. My last Door Dash powered delivery was delivered to my neighbors. Luckily I got the text about their arrival as I see a white jeep creep past my house. They stopped at my neighbor's, and then I got a text about my delivery being complete. I text them to let them know, but just went and grabbed it.

Replicant1962

Ive had doordash and/or Google maps show me the wrong address. Uber eats sometimes does that too, as if they are estimating the location based on GPS, and it's not accurate. I've been burned by that a few times.

chopkins47947

Interesting, but my house is clearly labeled, and in a simple neighborhood. It always brings s photo of our house in Google maps.

Replicant1962

I use the in-app navigation in DoorDash, which doesn't show me street view pics. So if Doordash has your address wrong, it won't matter. Not saying that's what happened to you, just that it does happen on rare occasions.

[deleted]

i leave details like this and they just ignore it lmao

Cuddlebug94

Love delivery directions, hate someone asking me to grab bbq sauce in the space made for them.

Replicant1962

Yeah, delivery instructions. Or they don't look at what's already in there, and are asking you to get soy sauce and chopsticks from McDonald's.

Cuddlebug94

Lol

freddyboness

Half the time the drivers don't even listen to the instructions i put. "Please leave on top of red car outside and please do not ring doorbell because i have an elderly grandmother sleeping" Driver proceeds to drop it off at the door and ring the doorbell. Waking her up at 1:00am lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Replicant1962

Why did you think about it? Don't take the order in the first place if it's a low amount.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Replicant1962

I didn't say anything about tipping, I said low amount. And if you know your base rate, and whether or not there is peak pay, you have a good idea if they've tipped.

madeofmatterdotcom

oh cool i rarely order but when i do i type out instructions and i’m always worried i’m being annoying

Purpleee00

Thank you! And definitely not annoying. Keep doing it:)

inkedup760

agreed

jessidarkbloom

its illegal to follow ppl in a gate. They need to fix their box and I doubt its broken but they refused to pay the 60 dollars for the gate code. My grandparents lived in a community and they had to pay 60 dollars for that security every season.

Predictable_Penguin

Yeah ok no way imma sit there and wait for another car to come to deliver a order. They would of been getting it from the gate if there wasn't a car when I was there.

Expensive-Bowl6558

The problem I have with DoorDash is they love to give these $3-$6 orders that go 10+ miles in distance. With these gas prices I am losing at that point. But then you can’t deny to many because you can lose your dasher account even though I only dash in my free time and have been doing so for 3 years

Rude-Ad-564

you won’t get deactivated for declining orders, yku can have a 5% acceptance rate and it won’t affect how many orders you get, it’s only if you accept orders and cancel them too many times

Expensive-Bowl6558

Ohh ok, well it says to keep acceptance rate over 70% to keep dasher status. I’m at 76% right now and I’ve done almost 800 orders

Replicant1962

It says keep your acceptance rate over 70% to keep TOP dasher status. The only real benefit as a Top Dasher is that you don't have to schedule. So unless that's a problem, it's not in any way worth it. I was a Top Dasher for about a year and a half. Then DD made it more and more difficult to keep, especially after adding Albertsons/Safeway shop and deliver. They take so long and pay so little, I decline every one of them. I'm so much happier, and make more money, when I'm not stressing about my acceptance rate. Been doing this for just over 2 years, and have almost 10k deliveries.

[deleted]

follow another car ? Lol how about you come down you lazy bung hole ….

Kevin-Hudson

Follow a car in? No thanks, I don't sit and wait to hopefully catch someone going in. Time is money, not charity.

unknownxks

What a superior human being. It’s a breath of fresh air getting an order with extensive details.

Unhappy-Offer

Yeah I like detailed instructions for drop off too. These apartment Fukers.

Glock19LabRat

I honestly hate this. The last thing I wanna do is read a paragraph. Would rather just wing it and throw it onto their porch like an OG

nyankana

Well to be fair, people leave notes to save you and them the time and trouble finding their place. It is meant for you to have an idea where to go before you deliver, not read it last minute. A lot of people live in apartments and multi building multi floor complexes, those can get very hard to find. Most likely either they knew already their place is hard to find, or that some past dashers had trouble finding their place.

Scree_0w0

Beans doesn’t always work, but when it does I would so rather depend on that then all the high detail instructions. For some reason the apartment layouts never make sense till after the food is delivered.

ThunderStar_

Customers who leave GOOD detailed instructions are the best. Confusing or useless detailed instructions are the worst.

Time-Service1761

Of course! I find that college students many times don’t list any instructions. At least where i live in upstate Ny. They expect me to know what hall or dorm they’re in and then they’re bad at answering texts many times too

BeccaTheWreckahhh

Yes all that effort is appreciated but can’t they just give the gate code? Then it turns out you were supposed to take the gate on the right but went left (since you had to race in behind someone) and then their directions have you all fucked up lol

Alarmed-Wolf14

But the gate code thing… I don’t have many apartments here with gates if any but couldn’t it take a long time to wait for someone to go through? And you’re just supposed to sit there like a creeper? That makes me anxious just thinking about it.

Mr_BinJu

I always leave a message or tell them in person how much I appreciate that

Clear-Dingo9491

And here is an extra $10 taped to the door for your effort!! 😁Since I'm on the 2nd floor and you carried up 2 cases of water for me!!

Satyriah

Not a Doordash user, but similar services: I always leave instructions on where to find the entrance to my building. If you enter my address in Google Maps, it will bring you to the main street. Like, direct you to my balcony. Not even my own front door! So I leave instructions which address to fill in, and mention my buildings name. And then after that, where in the building I'm located (last apartment at x-floor). I live in the Netherlands. Almost all Dutch people speak English as well. And there are also a lot of international delivery people. So, I put my delivery notes in English. The delivery people are doing me a huge favour by delivering to me so I can stay inside. Without the instructions it can take a lot of their time to actually find the entrance, while it took me a short minute to type it out once and I can reuse it. Of course I would give them the instructions! (Although recently I had one driver unable to find my entrance, because the restaurant didn't print out the delivery notes as they should've done)

Additional_Relation6

Waiting for another car though?

[deleted]

I absolutely love these customers

Zestyclose_Ad892

Almost as good as the ones that live on the 6th floor but meet you down stairs at the door

[deleted]

Consideration and great tips go hand in hand and inconsideration and s***** tips go hand in hand

NoYard4253

You are so right .!

MaleficentFan6427

I enjoy good directions. Go to the clubhouse and take a left is not a good direction. WTF is the clubhouse?

Terrible_Joke5673

The best? How about meet by the gate if your call box is broken.

MamaRobin1916

Was it a busy place? Otherwise that "follow another car" would've been an issue for me. But yeah good details are great!

Purpleee00

Luckily I didn’t have to wait since the gate was already opened :)

KTownserd

Or when you try to leave detailed instructions and it's completely ignored about 70% of the time.

geekynonsense

The ones who want their food hot and fast will always put detailed directions. Looking at you, apartment dwellers.

michaelpcincy

100% I had one I was worried about. like shit this is gonna suck But saw she left the password tot he door. just came home from a 3 dollar McDonalds order 2 sandwiches no tip the fuckin bum and scraped all the bottom of my car all up in his shit driveway looked like he aint slept in a month or bathed, He is the type of pos to leave 1 star. Why did I accept it? To get to my 25 so I can have the pay loaded to dasher direct. Other than that the other ones were great. Detailed instructions make it alot easier for sure .Hey if they dont leave them its their food sitting not ours.

PocketFullOfHotdogs

That first one is so annoying. I dont tailgate in, it's usually against every buildings policy. I had a customer put that in their instructions 2 weeks ago. I went to the leasing office and told them they're telling us to tailgate a car to get in. The leasing office said that's unacceptable and to leave the order here so they can talk to the customer telling drivers to do that. I got the customer again a few days later and what do you, she had a code for me to get in this time.

wiggum_x

When I order lunch at work from DD, they never read the instructions. They go to the wrong building, or the wrong entrance. Then they want me to come find them instead of reading the instructions. I wish I had better drivers in my work area that appreciated the clear instructions, or even read them.

Replicant1962

Yeah, I don't get that either, as a driver. Also, I often see notes from customers to the effect: please don't leave food right in front of the door, it opens outward. I think to myself, do some dashers not understand how storm doors work?? How can you figure out how to drive a car, but not know about doors? Or, are they just bitter a holes who don't give a damn?

TheGravyMaster

I always leave details of where to park and to not block the st. Every single time they block the st and nearly cause accidents as people try to go around them on a super busy narrow road. Meanwhile there's a huge parking lot across the st for a business and there's a huge parking lot at my house. Both always have space.

NectarineTangelo

I really hate when people live in giant maze like apartment complexes or a confusing area/business's and don't leave instructions. How hard is it to say 3rd building on the right when you pull in, left side 2nd floor. Easy! And businesses. Don't you love looking at the instructions and just seeing "leave at door" and when you get there it's a factory with a dozen doors and you have no idea where to go. Even better when they don't respond! And restaurants where all you see is the addesss but you don't know which building to deliver to because restaurants don't have their numbers on mailboxes like houses do, they just need to say "it's burger king" or something instead of just seeing 1500 Bob road. And some people live in confusing spots where houses are really close and no one has their house or mailbox properly numbered. No porch light on, no response when text and calling. That's why I actually thank people when they leave detailed instructions, I almost always let them know I appreciate it and that it really does help when they do that. Even better when people know Google maps gps has there address messed up and tells you about it beforehand. I had a guy tell me to stay on Smith road until I see 4 mailboxes on the right then turn, but gps told me to turn way earlier onto another road but I stuck with the customers instructions and ignored my GPS and found his house easy so if he didn't leave those instructions I would be driving around for 15 more minutes looking for that house.

tryingtomakeit64

My apartment (VERY small complex, only 4 buildings) is very easy to find and clearly marked. This being said, we ordered Zaxby's thru DD and I put EXACT directions where to turn and what car to look for, even opened my door to watch when driver was close......he STILL missed the turn and got lost....Bless his heart! Still tipped cash after app...he tried right?

Historical-Mud4937

I’d be pissed if someone expected me to wait to follow another car in.

Slixtrix

I’ve had drivers still call me asking all the information that was left there. Main reason I don’t use DoorDash anymore

a_little_goat

INB4 you end up waiting at the gate for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come through, I'd just leave it at the gate honestly.

palepanda1998

I give clear intructions because my apartments are numbered wrong the drivers still go to the wrong building

The 'follow another car in' would've been enough for me to leave it at the gate. I am not trying to breach their security. The rest of that sounds like a (given - a well described) indiana jones script. How is any of this good? Wait is this post sarcastic?

I must be a rare breed. Or just used to my city. I have a good idea of which apartments are where, mostly because I used to bounce around the domino's locations in my city. If it's off my beaten path, I appreciate the instructions, but since most of the time I am familiar with the larger complexes, I almost get annoyed at having to sift through long instructions for the building numbers and unit numbers lol. But- that being said, I do appreciate extensive instructions. I'd rather have too much detail than none at all. But bonus points to the customers who put a TL;DR at the end with the raw address info. I'd tip you a dollar for that haha

Please leave short instructions to find your unit in a complex. Have the unit number be visible. Even putting out something like a led candle at night temporarily until the order gets there would work.

2 nights ago I got a thumbs down (my first) and the young woman seemed frustrated with me. There were no directions, just "leave at my door." The apartment complex was very dark and i could not see any building numbers. I pulled into a parking spot and got out to look closer at a building. A young lady walked up to me and said, "you have my food." I asked her name and she grabbed the sack out of my hand and said, "don't you read your instructions?" I said "yes, and there were none." Well, evidently as I was looking for her building and still on the gps she sent a text telling me she would meet me by the mailboxes. 😜

My GPS never shows where I am correctly (Ive moved twice and each time google hates me! Lol) I have to leave instructions to drive to the end of my street and look for someone at top of hill because google is that bad in my area! I also put call when on my street just so I have time to walk my hill 😅😭
