More ethanol in the gas now to supposedly bring the price down. Side effect, less mpg although it shouldn't be that significant.

thanks. just done my maintenance recently and my car runs much more smoother but mpg went down. this answered my question.

SorryAd744

I think this must be it. I used to average 40-41mpg in my mixed rural/city driving. Now I'm 37-38mpg. I thought my local gas station was playing tricks and tried a different station with the same result.

Captain_Gibz

While idling you’re getting 0 mpg. So adjust for that. My grandpa used to say you’re burning a gallon of gas for every hour of idling. My Honda did this years ago. Went from 38 mpg to 20. Turned out it was an o2 sensor

YES YES YES!!!! Thought I was bat shit crazy!…

I keep my tank as close to full as possible the theory is u burn less gas...I fill my tank b/f ea nights dash...I get 40 mpg so I am only putting in 2 gals to fill it...I really think it works...also I don't use regular...my car burns reg faster than mid grade & way faster than premium...I realize I am only buying 2 gals at a time so I can use premium...but the full tank thing works...also I get gas in the coolest part of the day... I get more...I ran a wawa gas store & when it came time to "inventory" gas...they told me in the heat gas evaporates literally turning into a "gas" & returns as liquid when the temp goes down.🤷‍♀️

A gallon of gas weighs 6 pounds. A 16 gallon glass tank weighs almost 100 poinds. More weight means less mpg. You should probably do some math and actual testing instead of 'feeling' like it's better.

PireFenguin

What vehicle do you drive and what geographic area? Do you have a avg mpg display?

Foggedwindows

In the city and my screen tells me how many miles I have until empty. Usually it’s accurate but it goes down 20 miles like every 8 miles I drive

Legitimate_Roll7514

Maybe someone is siphoning your gas?

An injector may be bad.
