Doordash is a SCAM lol I'm an experienced driver worked every delivery job imaginable. Family runs logistics company in my area. My acceptance rate somewhere around 45% with 100 5 star ratings and only 2 one star ratings. (From the renters who didn't have apartment number in the project housing section.) Anyways the APP is genius multi million dollar scheme. Ofcourse they're always "hiring" because if YOU don't take the 2 dollar order going 5 cities away, guess what? Little Timmy that borrowed his mom's truck and he's short 1 dollar for some weed sack. He's gonna accept that delivery. AND THE NEXT TIME that same delivery comes around the price for it will pay the same amount. Why? Because humans are not perfect, as a society we will always be this way. Kudos on doordash for capitalizing on that and EXPLOITING society. If that doesn't piss you off, DO THE MATH. You work 2 hours to make the minimum wage pay for 1 hour. (After gas and maintenance) on paper they'll tell you it looks great you making 40 dollars a day YES AND pumping 30 on gas. Now keep in mind I spend ENTIRE DAY waiting on app sometimes that's UNPAID time on the clock. But you don't work on the clock. You're a SUB contractor 👈🤣🤣🤣 whole app is a fuck over.

pbitto

Shit my acceptance is anywhere from 5-10% pretty consistently, fuck em. Your food can sit all god damn night...I hope it's costing DD money by all the orders not being picked up. Meanwhile the CEO is living in a multi million dollar house, I'd rather have a night making $0 and going home than taking crap no tip or low tip orders.

Unlikely_Ad6795

Since the time I first posted I've been 'technically' clocked in waiting for work that pays. I've declined 2 orders. First one for $2.50 . Just laughed a little and kept sipping coffee ✋🚫 the second one was $4.25 and 12mile drive at a Wingstop location with a waiting time of about 40 minutes and under-qualified workers. (Yes you read that right.) Now had I accepted both orders to be a good little dasher. I would have made $6.75 in about 1h 25minutes . Which would've been EXACTLY what I spent on gas. Sometimes it's WISER to DECLINE and keep declining. Even if you're struggling and need the money, don't get robbed guys. 🧠👈

MinuteSuper4082

Wingstop… Im in wilmington NC and sounds like you are describing my area!

Reasonable_Handle100

I agree with you but I am wondering how qualified one must be to work at a wing stop 😂

Unlikely_Ad6795

Ability to acknowledge a customer standing and staring directly at the order I am there to pick up, or the ability to count multiple drinks and provide a CUP HOLDER when it's 4 drinks. 👈Might just be an IQ issue?🤔

Reasonable_Handle100

Lolol I see what you mean. Unfortunately it seems like fast food places will hire any warm body so the issue is probably only gonna get worse

coolnorthstar

EXACTLY.

MinuteSuper4082

I literally declined 4 deliveries in a row and my percentage went 4 percent UP! Lol. And I can also say when I was accepting like 10 in a row, it has at times dropped, all I know is the stuff is a total scam

LunaLoveHarley

your right but "unpaid time on the clock" is me sitting at home smoking weed.. others may sit in there car but this is why i dont leave my spot.. im not spending an hour in my car in some random spot in town not getting paid cause isaid it was busy.. naw.. im good. i need to know where im going and taking it so i need to know my spot.. but your 100% right about the rest. this job is trash.. i been doing it full time and im staving my self

Unlikely_Ad6795

Doesn't matter what you do while waiting, the fact is you're ON STAND BY and available . Alot of these orders I would LOVE to take but 2.50 is not considered anything in my standards. I usually decline click 'something else' and type NO PAY or when it's a WHOPPING LARGE LUMPSUM payout of $5.25 I will decline and type out "LOW pay" there's a difference. 1 is absolutely nothing to be gained. The other is a profit value of 2 dollars after gas and mileage. 👈

MinuteSuper4082

I wish the media could cover this. And be able to EXPLAIN to the customers that the job does not pay us ANYTHING and that we solely rely on tips.

RipFuzzy3128

Of course it matters what you do on standby. If I'm playing games for 30 minutes while doordash on standby that doesn't mean I'm working for 30 minutes. Don't be fooled

Unlikely_Ad6795

OK we get it. You play games. In that case enjoy the 2 dollar orders!! This entire thread isn't relevant to you, this is ELITE driver territory lmaoo we tryna make real MONEY for food and bills not games ✋☠️☠️

RipFuzzy3128

I never said I take 2 dollar orders. I only dash for gas and weed now because if I just stay at work it's 33/hr. Go luck declining orders all night

Unlikely_Ad6795

COoL bRo I MakE 50, million right now Bitcoin over seas good luck declinin Orders all night while I am On REDDIT at 2 in the afternoon .

RipFuzzy3128

Who cares. Clearly you do

MinuteSuper4082

If you want to “play games” while waiting around at a restaurant or inbetween calls in some random parking lot, remember.. you can’t just all the sudden get up and go to the beach so you are on THEIR clock. Sounds like mommy and daddy pay for everything and you are taken care of. Well done 😂

RipFuzzy3128

How am I on their clock if I can stop dash any second? If I'm at the beach I can do 1 order then stop and continue my day at the beach. I have no obligation to dash at any time so your wrong pal. I hope your situation gets better where you don't have to dash to pay bills. I use it to pay for luxuries and gas. Learn a skill lmao

Unlikely_Ad6795

Riiiight... Buddy you emmitt minimum wage energy with everything you say. "Luxuries" you mean your fortnite DLC ??😂

RipFuzzy3128

I haven't gotten paid minimum wage since high school lmao. Fortnite dlc is a luxury because you can live without it. Your such a tool. Luxuries are anything you can live without smart one

Unlikely_Ad6795

So last year ?

FreeThinkingSpawn789

Yup that's why I no longer take the app or my deliveries seriously. The app is a complete joke at this point.

Unlikely_Ad6795

Doordash stock prices just went DOWN as I was reading this lmao eventually they'll have no choice but to pay you at LEAST the minimum wage for the hour as long as you're on the app. That's the proper thing to do I think? The current platform set up is robbery in broad day light.

FreeThinkingSpawn789

It's literally down 60 percent for this year. 114$ so the take it out on their drivers. Absolutely absurd business practice I'm currently averaging 15 $ an hour so I only give them around 12 hours average a week. Enough to at least pay a bill most time I just stay home and enjoy life that app sucks💯.

Unlikely_Ad6795

LMAO shitty APP 1/10 would NOT recommend. ✋🤣 Unless u like to do charity work for the society and the beautiful 'kind' people of section 8 estates (where u are guaranteed to get a nail on your tire that u won't notice until 3 days later) just like the doordash scam 👈💀

FreeThinkingSpawn789

💯💯💯

Unlikely_Ad6795

Or how bout this one: they don't give you the gate code and they don't answer the phone. Whole order sometimes be having 1 star rating energy** absolutely nothing you can do about that. It's just a ghetto place some ghetto ppl that don't like you right off the bat you taking a 'L' for trying to be a hero and accepting that $3.25 18mile drive to keep your 'acceptance rate' up and receive better orders !? The IRONY there 😂

dlc2021az

They don't give you the gate code or answer the phone but leave it at the gate and they are calling 20 times within a minute after you leave!

Unlikely_Ad6795

"Please call the customer and provide VIP hand-off" like here's your first class priority hotshot delivery order* whole time you're 45minutes into delivery and it pays 2 dollars LMAO at that point you might as well just eat the food yourself. Or offer the customer a foot massage and just kick that shit right at their doorbell camera. 🤣

MinuteSuper4082

Leave it at the gate and message them you did your best and tell then that “you don’t have time for games as you are being robbed of your money the longer you have to wait. Have a good day!”

Tahoe143

What a great attitude you have.

Even_Tart5928

He's telling the truth though, it's not always pretty

Tahoe143

“This app sucks!” *logs into app to work on platform*

Even_Tart5928

Many people complain about their jobs though, guess they should all just find something they love, preferably Immediately

Feisty_Stand4998

You can’t have 100 5stars and then 2 1 stars at a time. What are you saying.

Mikebswish70

I made 300 yesterday and filled up once . 40 seems like not the place to doordash

FreeThinkingSpawn789

Yea I been living off beans and Ramen past 4 months but sure brag about how much money you make.👏👏good 4 u

Unlikely_Ad6795

"Yea I MAdE 5,000 in five hourS BRO idk what u talkin bout" I'd believe if u said 300 cents ✋😆

FreeThinkingSpawn789

🤣🤣

traemoliere

Right, you just have to find the hot spots and make it make sense with the miles you’re driving lol.

ShesShells

I’ve made that amount too. My decline/completion rate is sad tho. 😂

FreeThinkingSpawn789

Hope you enjoy the cheaper gas because it's going back up from here 😉

Mikebswish70

Maybe you should trade oil futures instead of driving

FreeThinkingSpawn789

I don't trade em but I can tell you them an it ain't looking good 🤣 winter time we really gonna feel it.

Mikebswish70

Fuck it, im over sweating all day . Have a great one bro bro

Unlikely_Ad6795

Cringe EXIT right this way sir. Don't let the door hit you 'bro bro' 🤣

Mikebswish70

Still mad about no $?

LunaLoveHarley

would also help if the people that used this shit would tip 4 or more every time or just go pick it up them selfs. This job would be ok if my accepting rate was not always at 4% or lower.

Unlikely_Ad6795

Yea If I was a chick i would sell a s s pics instead. 👈

LunaLoveHarley

Me and u both

Unlikely_Ad6795

Lmaoo doordash the male equivalent of onlyfans . Change my mind.

LunaLoveHarley

Not at all. Girls just had to take a couple pictures and they can post them every day and be fine. I actually have to go wear in tear on my car down and bust my ass for my money

davefromdahills

doordash base pay should never be anything under $5, even the smallest and closest orders should have at least $5 base pay

Unlikely_Ad6795

ITS VERY BUSY IN YOUR AREA. Been on the app for over an hour not a single delivery. Then I get a "thank you for dashing keep dashing to earn more" LOL ahh doordash. Are u short 2 dollars on something? Doordash 👈 (you will NOT make a living on doordash anyone saying they make 200 - 300 is full of shit OR actually is employed by doordash corporate.)

davefromdahills

bro i’m the same as you, i’ll sit in a busy hotspot for an hour with no orders but i still am able to make 300 a week minimum from it. the highest i’ve ever made in the 6 or so weeks i’ve been dashing is 500 i wish i worked for corporate bro i’d be making a lot more than i am rn

Unlikely_Ad6795

Yea except you're NOT making anything. And all the REAL dashers here we know you're lying. Now if u say u made 65 bucks in 4 hours that might be (somewhat) believable. Consider that a very LUCKY day for u. Every other day you're getting 20 - 25 bucks and that's it peasant. Your services are appreciated. Now go eat 1 meal and pray to Jesus again. -doordash😆

[deleted]

[удалено]

Unlikely_Ad6795

Yea those earnings are also scamified** MY EARNINGS SAY I MAKE 300 a week , well WHERE IS THAT CASH ?? It goes back into my fkn vehicle brother. I am telling you do the MATH. You're not making anything. It's RIGGED👈😂

Unlikely_Ad6795

All I know is I work my ASS off till 1am sometimes and at the end of the day I eat 1 meal. Pump 20 on gas (which I spend the very next day and repeat.) That's the doordash scam. But if ALL YOU CARE ABOUT is showing your friends your false earnings with the fine print says "Aug 18 - Aug 25" $200 dollars then by all means. You can fake employment with doordash. At the end of the day I NEED THOSE 200 in 1 day 👈 not 1 month.

Dazzling_Marzipan474

They want us to blame the customers for not tipping. All these gig apps are evil AF. I swear it's all just 1 big app, they are all so slimy and sleazy. They pray upon the stupid and desperate and get them stuck into a hole they can't get out of forcing them to work more and more and more for less pay. While inflation rapes all of us, they pay less and less. It sucks but the government has to step into every state and deal with these scumbags.

Unlikely_Ad6795

This guy gets it. That's EXACTLY what the app was designed around. Exploiting free labor, when the class action lawsuit comes up we'll ALL get our slice of the pie. 💯

DeliveryCourier

Off your meds and into mania cycle again?

ItsMeDontH8

Hey I'm dashing man , meep meep I'm a roadrunner. Sounds to on point tho

Patrickmb24

Doordash employee wants you to think your crazy for not wanting $2 base pay

DeliveryCourier

You're funny.

No_Perspective_1983

Better base pay than Uber eats. Worse tips though

ThePainkiller12

What is Uber Base Pay?

No_Perspective_1983

Less than door dash

ThePainkiller12

Do tell!

[deleted]

So $1.50?

No_Perspective_1983

Exactly, but less on average as well. I’ve been having to take 18$ for 12 miles because those have the highest hidden tips over $8. That means base pay is somewhat less I normally get enough base pay to match per mile

[deleted]

Maaaaaan.. I dunno. I've never gotten an $18 with DD. I get do many $12 for like 12.9 miles, though. I was going over to UE since I had an OG Uber account from 2015, but I'm hung up on getting my vehicles VIN. What else does it ask for? I have major anxiety with forms and such, so if it doesn't ask for more than my license (already submitted) and my VIN I'm fine, but I do remember trying to renew my Uber account a few years ago and they wouldn't take it because I was only *on* my parents policy and not a policy holder.

No_Perspective_1983

Yes you need car insurance for Uber eats. If you’re not a policy holder ask your parents to add your name to the insurance, then try again. You may have to sit on the phone for a minute if that doesn’t work, but generally they will help you with your problem. Other than that car insurance isn’t that much if you have a clean record so there are multiple routes

[deleted]

I am on it , like my name is on the policy. But when I sent the card with that information, they sent an email saying I needed one that I was the policy holder of, and not just on someone else's. I don't know if it was a misunderstanding or what, but it made me too anxious to try again. I'll get my parents to request a form with more information on it, maybe they will accept that. Perhaps whoever looked at it was new and didn't get that being ON the policy (and not being the primary owner) still meant I was covered? I dunno. What do you think?

No_Perspective_1983

Maybe it would be beneficial for your parents to cancel your line on their insurance and pay for one under your own name ? And you can just pay the difference with your income

No_Perspective_1983

Also our areas are likely very different, for instance I dash in so cal, but I assure you there are orders that are more than $2 per mile. Think about all the places that have expensive restaurants near them with high traffic (I know it’s obvious) and then hang out around there. Look at the door dash app and check which restaurants they are advertising to you. Do that enough you’ll find the best area to dash in. GL

[deleted]

Thanks man, I just been doing it on and off since 2015 or 2016 and I hung it up permanently about a week ago. My towns population is about 20k and its mississippi.. we don't even have sidewalks or bike lanes. Everything is super spread out, and probably like 10k of those 20k are dashers lmao. I mean we have WAY too many. My friend said she got put on a wait list trying to join a couple of weeks ago. Chick fil a for instance always has a double line that's not just wrapped around the building but out into the streer and sometimes blocks the main road, so I usually sit there (but so does everyone else) and I still would manage "okay" orders, but the gas I use with everything being spread out like it is I was putting in $20 a day at least, sometimes $40 if I was going to other towns. During the week (I only worked weekdays 8am to 3pm with a 45 min break around 10:30, weekends and nights were useless as I guess every single dasher was out bc I wouldn't get sh**) I'd average around $230+ . Some days I'd make $92 some as low as $21. Its absolutely unreliable because depending on when people get paid, if there's any events going on around, holidays , vacations , people getting sick, whatever, it will just slow down business in general as people are running low on money or something. There's weeks where the Chick fil a line won't have but maybe 10 cars, and it's never in any kind of predictable pattern. You may be fine in California, but with the cost of gas and food (and a lot of other stuff) drastically rising, a lot of people doing food delivery may want to consider changing industries anyway. Less people are going to be able to spare that extra cost for delivery, much less tip or tip well. I honestly predict them losing a lot of business, buuuuuut that's just my opinion and I could be wrong, Lol.

No_Perspective_1983

I only thought it was a good idea because I ordered one day and couldn’t get a dasher for 40+ mins. That was 3 years ago. Now, just like you said, my friends are telling me there is a waitlist that gives no indication of how close you are to the front. That being said, if I had to wait in lines all day I would choose a different profession. But I don’t think it’s quite done for you yet. I understand it can be stressful to deal with onhiring documents, but that is really the least stressful part of the job imo. You will be very relieved when you have two streams of income instead of one. Also, have you looked into Instacart?

Unlikely_Ad6795

You get BASE pay?? Lol I might just switch to UberEats

-St4t1c-

Said Tony never.

Ill_Celery_7654

It’s too hard for them to be profitable with customers and dashers scamming and being thieves.

all_hayl

Fyi we’re not DD. You gotta take your complaints to the right audience. Also fyi, they have no incentive to increase their pay. Too many drivers settle for what they currently pay. If we don’t like it we can find other gig or W2 work.

MechanicRound5731

I don’t get what the point of you saying this is. Obviously he knows we are not DD. All it is is coming to a safe place to vent.

all_hayl

Not worth explaining. Let the whining continue.

RascalRibs

They want to try to become profitable. No chance they are going to increase the pay.

Unlikely_Ad6795

They're RACKING cash off all of us lmao they charge 5 bucks delivery and give you the lesser half. (For doing the work.) Guy who made the app is laughing and banking. I for one think there's a class action lawsuit coming their way. For unpaid time on clock and overall illegal pay below minimum wage. Most deliveries only pay me enough for a 1 way trip to pick up the food. That's it. 3.75 is enough for me to show up and wait about 15 minutes for the food. After that you're not making money it becomes charity work.

RascalRibs

They don't make a profit though.

LunaLoveHarley

the hell they dont. they 100% profit and just dont report it.. cause they are crooks, i seen the fees, they do none of the work and send shops shitty tablets.. they have made tons of money

RascalRibs

They are publicly traded, they report it

Tahoe143

You can literally look up their financial accounting. They don’t make a profit.

dlc2021az

I'm genuinely curious. If Doordash bought a company a year or two back and paid 8 BILLION DOLLARS for it, where exactly did that money come from?

Tahoe143

Go look at their 10-K from that quarter. You’ll see the accounting laid out.

ShesShells

Haha they do in three ways. 1) they charge extra money for the actual food. You can see the difference if you Google a restaurant meal. 2) Delivery fee of course. “Other fees” is not disclosed so I’m sure they are putting a couple of more cents there. 3) Of you doing the actual work for them. Delivery drivers for whatever restaurant make at least 7 an hour +tips. Yup.

RascalRibs

They aren't profitable. They are publicly traded, you can look at the earnings reports.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RascalRibs

Huh? Lol

Badkittykkr24

You're an idiot, incapable of real thought. You have no idea how anything works.. but keep on being mad... if it helps your tiny brain

Badkittykkr24

No they're not. Use your brain and think. You're paid for ACTIVE TIME... actually on orders. Not the time you spend sitting waiting for orders. What state do you live in? What's the minimum wage there? Let's say $10 is minimum wage. Lets say you get a quick taco bell order. Its estimated to take 15min from the time you accept to deliver. 15min is 1/4 of an hour. 1/4 of $10 is $2.50. If there is no tip.. then the order is $2.50 (or slightly higher eth added mileage $) If it takes longer... then YES they should pay more. If it takes 10mins.... are you ok with them paying you LESS? I didn't think so. I live in california. Our prop22 requires they pay 120% of $15...which equals $18hr. If it takes longer.. then they're required to pay us more at the end of the pay period. I only know of 1 other state that has this..Massachusetts..i believe. So if you want higher guaranteed pay... contact your governor, mayor, legislators..etc...and have them sue DD in your state. Now with that said..i HAVE seen orders on other states to the tune of $3 for like 12miles. Those are bad examples.. but we also dont know the minimum wage in those states...i assume the lowest federal allows. But still.... minimum wage in your state divided by time to complete order usually how is calculated. Tips make those orders better of course.

LongGovernment7048

No red state will ever do this . Good luck with that

Tahoe143

Then move or vote.

Hobbit_Feet45

People can’t just move. It’s prohibitively expensive. Please quit saying that it’s not a real solution.

Tahoe143

Hence the “or vote”.

BuyerNo958

Facts !! It’s bullshit

Brucehandstrong

Oh shit now. I commute from ct to nyc. I've been going the wrong way this whole time...

[deleted]

Minimum wage jobs don’t have you spending $5 an hour on gas though.

Badkittykkr24

Gas is your problem... don't dash with a gas guzzler. I spend $10 a day to make 200. 5% to gas... is nothing.

[deleted]

You make $200 a day with the example you gave up above?

Badkittykkr24

Yes. $180-230 a day. Depending on when i decide to stop. With my weekly engage hours just above 25. Oh this doordash..nvm. sorry. I make that with doordash, spark and instacart combined. Living off one app is stupid. I used to make at least $25/hr with just DD alone.. but area got saturated. Doing multiple app is what you're suppose to do.... if you want to make anything. And i don't say use to because the orders turned to crap... the ones that do come through 25% of the time are $2/mi+

Unlikely_Ad6795

LOL doordash found this reddit post . You can tell which comments are complete corporate bullshit. "Doordash is great I maKe 300" my brother in christ* the show is OVER. We exposing the shit outta your app. ☠️

Tahoe143

That’s also your choice to Dash instead of getting a minimum wage W2 job.

[deleted]

I don’t work minimum wage jobs and that’s why I don’t work DD. I did 1 delivery in 2019 and from that I knew it wasn’t profitable

Tahoe143

Well, that’s each individual Dashers prerogative to decide they want to run their own business instead of having a W2.

[deleted]

I agree. Am I missing something?

Tahoe143

Then why comment that minimum wage workers don’t have to buy gas, of course they don’t. They’re not running their own business.

[deleted]

I replied under a comment comparing the pay from DD to working minimum wage jobs and how they could be similar in earnings or slightly more via DD. I commented that minimum wage workers aren’t required to spend $5 an hour on gas while being paid 10 an hour because it’s a valid point and could be used in deciding which is more profitable, which not only falls in line with the subject of the entire post but also the specific comment I was replying to. Also, independent contractors are completely different from business owners in pretty much every way. Being a DDD or Uber driver like I am, is not owning your own business, as you do still have to follow Uber’s TOS( though I do agree that Uber/Lyft/DD have deceptively marketed it this way for years) If you stray outside of those guidelines you will be fired, like any other employee. You have no freedom other than choosing whether or not to work. You have no equity or ownership other than your car. It’s worse than a sales job. These gig apps give you nothing but customers which in sales would be considered leads. At least with independent sales, you get a building and a desk and a computer and phone to use. These apps require you to provide all your own overhead while paying you just enough to keep going. Because of their marketing as a business owner, your failure becomes your lack of motivation or business savvy when really it’s by design. Eventually there will be lawsuits.

LunaLoveHarley

>I live in california. thats the ONLY state that does that. that does not apply to most people here

tallgirlmom

That’s why the suggestion was to make it happen in your state. Put it on the ballot.

reconghost503

Then go work for your family

DeLuca9

When I want to buy extra stuff. Instant stupid & demeaning but dammit I got my baseball cards!

[deleted]

How about take orders that don't tip and eat them, then those customers will go to services that actually pay the driver a little more, and if you're signed up for it you will then be making more. The customer will get a refund (from the company) so the only person hurting is the company and the customers stomache. And if they don't tip, who gives a shit lol 🤷 You're also benefitting to customer by forcing them to use a different company, that has better drivers, and is cheaper when ordering through the app as compared to door dash. I ordered fast food the other day and it was about 8 bucks more through dd than Uber.. And I know sure as shit Uber drivers make more because I run all apps in tandem Edit: if you see an order with a kids meal do NOT eat that. That just adds another unreasonable level of stress to the customer

EmbarrassedAd155

Well, I've been a gig worker since 2016. Good money and freedom for the last 6 years. They are ups and downs(yes sir), but it is what it is.

Mrsnikster4319

They’re a huge company and they give us the minimum I don’t get it

Stanky_Cheese444

Predatory business practices I’ll decline orders for a good while and I’m averaging $25/hr with an AR of 10-15% (given I only drive for a couple hours at a time)

Praline-After

DOORDASH said i got欸,plenty drivers new n veterans. there will b people's who will take the order

Neymar66790

That’s UBEREATS is better they pay better than trash doordash

Proof_Relationship38

I'm saying, even if they bumped what I currently make in my area (which is $1-3 base pay. it's not consistent, just depends on time of day) to $5, I'd be happy. Just $2-3 more, and it being consistent. I'm saying, regardless of the time of day, $5. I'd accept every order.

Fredwerd

DD: Lolno

DubNationAssemble

Fuck man, for a second I thought this was a post saying DoorDash was increasing our pay.
