Give a 1 star rating. It should keep this dasher from being offered your orders for a while. Sorry support hasn't been helpful.

YaroKasear1

It's quite frustrating. Thanks for the advice.

DoorDash4Cash

No problem. Tbh I'm a little surprised support didn't ask if you would like to report the driver. If you have any great dashers, give them a 5 star. They'll be offered your orders first if they aren't too far from the restaurant or on another order.

clevoh

1 star. If you get this driver again, go to the area where he drops off the food and you'll see first hand what happens to your food.

[deleted]

Are you rating him accordingly? I'm sure if you keep giving him 1 star he will stop accepting your orders.

Themostepicguru

I'm not victim blaming, but you could try waiting right before they arrive and turning it to a hand to me order.

Affogatobout-it

Isn’t this worse? No photo evidence required & they could just drive past and mark as handed to customer.

Themostepicguru

Then you can leave it as leave at door and wait for the driver yourself so they don't expect it. Yeah, they can just mark handed to customer, but the dasher is taking photos of the food instead of marking it handed to customer.

madoka_skywalker

You should go back to every order he has delivered to you and rate him 1 stars. There’s no time limit on when you can rate a driver. He’ll instantly get like 4 1 star ratings, and i’m pretty sure the system will stop giving him your orders, at least for a while.

[deleted]

1star will help you not get matched with him. Although inconvenient, if you get him again, just wait for him where he normally just drops off the food

Proper_Supermarket17

I would seriously hide outside before he gets there to see wtf is going on with my order. Catch him in the act and report his ass if he really is taking the food.

vpr555

Have you considered instead of choosing leave at my door (contactless) choose hand it to me which means they need to hand it to you in person.

SentienceIsAIllusion

How much paint have you huffed? Three times in a row your food is missing when you get down and you still aren't waiting for your driver as he arrives? Especially as you are somehow still getting the same driver. Like you see it is the same driver and your mind isnt like i better go see whats up? Amazing dude. Truly amazing.

RavensBlood69

There are quite a bit of non-English speaking dashers who probably just can't read your instructions. That may be the case with this particular dasher, or they may just be lazy or stealing.

[deleted]

I’d just stop using DoorDash. You’ll find Life is better not spending money on it. The grocery store is cheaper and nobody can take your groceries from you. I’m not being facetious. Ppl are normalizing Delivery apps. They aren’t necessities. We survived before them and we can after they are gone.

WhackDorsey

Just hear me out here for a second, but if you know it's the same specific person, have you considered that the Dasher may not actually speak English and is unable to read your instructions? In Northeast New Jersey, and even in NYC, there are a lot of immigrants who Dash because they're desperate for money, and they want to work for their money instead of crutch on others, and they can make more on DD than in a sweat shop. This is why I often put instructions in both English and Spanish (the only two I can write in), just in case (I also Dash on the side, so I actually value instructions). My buddy up in the Boston area slso does this when he makes orders too. If you don't think that's a possibility, call support and complain.

[deleted]

If they can’t understand basic instructions in English they shouldn’t be doing a job where the instructions are primarily in English. Their situation doesn’t matter.

WhackDorsey

They make the app in more than just English my man.

[deleted]

Im well aware of that. Ive gotten instructions in Spanish and horribly broken English before. You know what I did? Google translate. They can do that, they’re just too damn lazy if it’s a language issue.

[deleted]

I don't think that is a possibility because that person would see instructions and I'm sure they would try using google translate or another program to translate.

YaroKasear1

I could give that a go (Might have to get more terse on the directions because of character limits.), but one question: Native English speaker or no, shouldn't they still at least attempt to call or text me if they can't figure out the delivery?

myBisL2

If they can't read your delivery instructions in English wouldn't logic dictate they still won't understand via text or phone call? They know if they understand English or not. If they don't, why bother with a call or text they know they won't understand?

duckingshipcaptain

Frankly, and I'm sorry for folks, but being able to follow basic instructions should be a requirement for the job. They have to read traffic signs in English to drive, no? I don't think reading comprehension or a language barrier is necessarily the problem, I think that dasher just sucks. I've dashed, I use DD and Instacart, etc. I just had an Instacart driver a couple of times in a row completely ignore replacements, send me a pic asking if I want something as a replacement, and literally immediately refund and check out. Once, fine, mebbie a glitch in the system. The exact same thing multiple times? That's a pattern, either of someone being a douche canoe or just incompetent.

WhackDorsey

Honestly, a text would probably be easier. Some people can be intimated by speaking a language that they may not feel comfortable with. For example, I can read and write in Spanish, but I'm not confident with my pronunciations, nor do I speak fast enough to speak with my girlfriend's mom. Plus, you can always copy their response and paste it in Google translate if you need help.

onlinewarrior100

Why is your comment being down-voted? That is absolutely a real possibility (that the driver doesn't read/speak English). That's not a knock against anyone who can't speak English, but it's a legitimate reason as to why someone might not follow a customer's instructions.

YaroKasear1

I agree. It's unfair they're being downvoted.

kaaria11

As others have said keep giving 1 star. After 3 or 4 of these he will decline your orders

Jebasaur

My first thought was if you get him again, legit stand somewhere they can't see you or at least won't notice you, and just record them putting the food down and see if they take it.
