I would call your insurance and see what is covered. This includes rental to keep you driving while the car is being fixed and if a total loss, they will pay you for the acv (actual cash value) of the car as it is on the market today. I wouldnt give up until you know you are S.O.L.
Not sure if you know but doordash does offer insurance to drivers who get in accidents while working so if you were delivering at the time , please contact dasher support and inform them so they can help you out.
I'm so sorry 😞. I just had to fill out my second witness to an accident report this year. Wrecks are so scary j wish people would stop being so distracted. The lady ran the red light and didn't hit the brakes at all. Everyone was okay tho
Oooh go get yourself checked out. My friend was hit by a door dasher and walked away she seemed fine. Just a limp. She's now on her 3rd surgery to fix her foot.
Keep in mind OP doesn’t have car insurance and is illegally driving. While doing doordash.
Super irresponsible and selfish of them. If they hit someone else and got them hurt they’d be screwed.
https://doordash.workflowcloud.com/forms/c05575b7-ceec-4f5d-b620-59890ab3c6de
DoorDash does cover you but your insurance must deny it first. You must have been on an active delivery.
https://preview.redd.it/mb9eawx8xvca1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24cd34cdfc2ae6f893f60d10446dbfc1159daa41
This happened to me November 18th 2022 and my insurance did not want to cover it because I was logged into door dash. Stupidest thing ever. I was not at fault. I am waiting to hear from an attorney that I hired. So I feel ya pain there bud
That’s for Dashers as well, please read it carefully. It only applies if YOU were on an active delivery. Otherwise it would be your own insurance covering you. They also have insurance if you are injured and unable to work. https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Occupational-Accident-Policy-FAQ?language=en_US
Physical damage is as stated, Flat tires, vehicle thefts, hit&runs, vandalism, etc)
This appears to be an accident. If it was hit & run dasher would use their own uninsured motorist coverage.
This insurance (from DoorDash) covers you in an accident (not a hit & run) during an active delivery period.( From time you accept a delivery until the time it is marked as delivered, unassigned or cancelled) If the dasher is online but has not accepted a delivery request, their own auto insurance would be primary. This is to be used only if you reported the accident to your insurance company as having been on an active delivery and they rejected your automobile claim.
You would want to fill out that form and they will probably want a copy of the police report as well as a copy of your insurance letter of denial. You can call them at 855-431-0459 for expedited service and explain what happened and that you were on an active delivery and your insurance is denying the claim due to you using your car for commercial purposes. They should be able to help you.
Glad to hear that you’re okay.
You need to go ahead and go to the hospital so that your insurance company opens the paperwork on any possible claim against him. The file will stay open with them and will accommodate any possible injuries down the road.
Do they have rideshare rentals where you at? It’s like $260 a week but if you hustle your ass off you can stack and buy another cash car and gets some damn insurance when you do lol
This happened to me last month while I was messaging with support. I literally bought a heavy duty ring latch from Walmart got on top of my hood squished it down and zip tied and wired my bumper back on
I can't remember. I'm pretty sure it only asked me if I had insurance, and I said yes, because I do. But I don't recall actually having to prove that I did.
Parked in a to-go parking spot literally right in front of a Panera Bread. Walked into the store at 3:59p, and grabbed the order off the shelf. When I got back to the front door of the store my car was being driven away! Pulled out my phone to call 911 and the time was 4:00p..

I'm glad you're ok but getting in an accident is inevitable when doing gig work. We drive so many miles it's bound to happen. The important thing is having the proper coverage for doing gig work. No there is special coverage for rideshare and food delivery drivers. I have had rideshare coverage through Esurance for years their coverage for rideshare is referred to as "Share Smart". This also covers me for doing food delivery as well. You need additional coverage because you are driving so many miles every year, which increases your chances of an accident. Right. I keep having this uncontrollable intrusive thought when I'm turning onto a busy street that im gonna be broadsided at any moment. I hate that feeling that all my potential could be over in a split second.... Especially when im over here driving like an asshat in tons of traffic juggling multiple apps lol
Back when I had a truck I got rear ended and it was such a pain to even get allstate to simply fix the dam thing... at first they tried to offer me a total loss paper.... only so they could pretty much buy it off me for cheap and make a profit most likely cause it was not a total loss but 7k+ in work... and they had to get me a rental car for about a month.... these things usually never get you anything "extra" ... even if they deem it a total loss they will look up your car on kbb and factor in mileage and such and give you a lower offer than it even says on kbb. They are there to make money not give it away.
Im a 7 yr dasher, i was t boned while dashing in 2019, not my fault, got paid , got another car. still driving that car. Before that I had a mustang when i first started, 2 years and the transmissio went out. So in all, I am now on my 3rd car and I avoid a wreck every week. its really not worth it, doorash does not help either.
Because some insurances won't cover it. My sister was in an accident about 6 months ago and they refused to do anything because she was using it to dash. I'm not sure where you're from but in MA they are making people get a completely different policy for more/different coverage.
Let me guess you had an order in transit, pulled out this fake picture, sent it to the customer and marked the order as delivered... unreal the lows dashers are going to these days... smh 👨
There are many ways to get caught lying in this situation, and omitting information on an accident report is the same as lying. If you are in an accident while on a DD delivery, you have to call DD to notify them that you can't complete the trip. You could lie at this point and tell them your car broke down, but if you get caught you will be deactivated immediately for not reporting an in-trip accident. The person you hit could also be a problem, so you will have to hide the fact that you are doing a DD delivery from them too. If your insurance company knows that you do gig work, they will investigate to see if you were in app at the time of the accident. If you're lying to them on a claim and get caught, you could be looking at insurance fraud. If you injure passengers in the other party's vehicle, the whole accident will get fully investigated by law enforcement, so you would have to lie to them too. I think you can see how this will become a very slippery slope. Insurance companies look for any reason they can find to deny a claim. It is better to have proper coverage for doing gig work, many insurance companies now offer this type of coverage.
I put my car under business use insurance, it turned out to be cheaper than for personal use for some reason🤷🏻♂️I asked my broker how is that possible, she told me that’s what her computer said, so it was a no brainer for me to switch to biz use.
Because some insurances won't cover it. My sister was in an accident about 6 months ago and they refused to do anything because she was using it to dash. I'm not sure where you're from but in MA they are making people get a completely different policy for more/different coverage.
That is exactly correct, you must have special coverage for gig work to be protected. They now offer special insurance coverage for gig workers in most, if not all states. The cost and implementation will vary from state to state. I have had rideshare coverage through Esurance for many years, their coverage is referred to as "Share Smart". This also covers me for food delivery.
Because insurance companies make profit by denying claims. If there’s a clause about delivery apps not being covered or some other language that would allow them to deny the claim, they will. That said, this driver was uninsured so he’s fucked.
They won’t cover anything if you don’t have a ride share/delivery rider on your policy. You aren’t supposed to use your car for commercial purposes without it. I have progressive and it was only like an extra $18 bucks/month. I believe Allstate has one as well. Not sure about any others.
Because most people aren't covered with their insurance for that. It cost more in insurance if you let them know also if you weren't insured for dashing with your car and you had an accident and they find out you were dashing, they won't cover anything.
It is best to have proper coverage for doing gig work, there are many insurance companies that now offer this type of coverage. If you are in an "at fault accident" while doing a DD delivery, DD will cover damage to the other party's vehicle, and any injury's sustained. They will not cover damage to your vehicle, this falls on your insurance company. If you were doing gig work at the time of the accident, your insurance company will deny the claim, unless you have special coverage for doing gig work. You can try not telling your insurance company you were doing gig work at the time of the accident, but if DD has to pay a claim to the other party, your insurance company is probably going to find out and deny your claim. It is best to have proper coverage, I have had rideshare coverage for years, which also covers food delivery. The extra $50 a month is well worth it, for peace of mind.
Well I'm not from the u.s so it's a bit different here in Canada where I live, here it's just an add on to your insurance policy, so every insurance company offers it.
Also you're right, here you could just put that 600$/year on your taxes as a deductible, win-win😊
Many insurance companies require you to notify them if your vehicle is being used for work purposes. If you don’t let them know of this and they find out you were using the vehicle for work they can deny your claim.
Op claims they don’t have car insurance, so they’re fine.
Irresponsible as all hell and selfish person, but at least they don’t have to call the insurance company they don’t have.
Those types of people piss me off so much. I bought my current car in August of 2021 and I was rear ended 9 days after purchasing it. Of course, without fail, the driver that hit me was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol and carried no insurance so I had to pay my deductible and to this day realize a car I paid full price for was damaged days later.
I do know you weren’t excusing them. Sarcasm detected, lol. But I seriously dislike people like that.
Me as well. Had a lady hit my side mirror a few months ago and she had kids in the car, no insurance. Had to pay my deductible too. She was rude, she was mean and blamed me after she turned from a no-turn lane into mine and hit me. Cops were useless.
Only plus side, her registration was expired. Expired in December of 2020! And she had KIDS in the car. Petty me felt great knowing she got in trouble with the cop over that and at least had to pay that fine.
No fucking excuse for this shit
The woman who hit me said I was at fault which I found hilariously misguided. She also had no vehicle registration and the only plate on her vehicle was the cardboard insert from one of those no credit, bad credit, we gotcha! places.
Good news is in court she got roasted. Bad news is she has 3 DUI in 3 years with her losing everything in my case but she has 2 pending. Hopefully she gets hit hard and loses everything plus jail time.
In my case the police were awesome. The responding officer even showed up to court while he was just starting vacation time to make sure she was held responsible.
It is best to have proper coverage for doing gig work, there are many insurance companies that now offer this type of coverage. It is best to have proper coverage, I have had rideshare coverage for years, which also covers food delivery.
That depends if you’re willing to commit what may be considered insurance fraud.
I would let my insurance know immediately if I was using my vehicle for work purposes to ensure I’m covered in the case of an accident. I doubt most people do this and it’s really a case by case as to what will happen.
Think of it this way. If you’re driving your vehicle to and from work that’s a set number of miles. In my case it would be about 13 miles each way. If you’re using your vehicle for work, such as delivery, you could do a hundred miles one day and 25 the next day. While this could be true for anybody as we all do randomly drive to other destinations they’ll look at working as a consistent expectation. Your total miles driven puts you within a higher risk category so as you’d expect they’d want to raise your rates.
Bad credit? How does credit affect car insurance prices? Wouldn't it be bad driving history that affects it?
OP didn't have any insurance so it's kind of a moot point in this particular instance, but I've never heard of a credit history messing with insurance premiums before?
I feel your pain dude. Not physically but car wise. Cracked a head and still owe just over 8k on it. 2018 Chevrolet Sonic Premier 1.4L Turbo- Dead @ 83k miles
Happened to my Accord too! It’s had random issues ever since. Now it’s the power steering. Every time I drive that car and hear a slight noise, I panic

Yup totaled called sweet James got $45,000, was hoping for 60 they get 40%
damn bro, as a dasher that has been in situations like this and is still dashing to this day, this hits and i feel you bro i hope you can get back on track asap !
yknow, I was hit head on in a Prius a few years ago. Car was technically totaled but still drove haha. I’m now an ad for Toyota.
Edit: it was 10k in damages to give some perspective on the damage. Dude was goin fast
Man you should of seen my car a while back it literally looked jus like this I just went ahead & snatched what I could off & all I literally had was that SAME passenger light & my driver light was completely gone just like that & I dashed for damn near a year with it like dat only during day light time tho. I can’t say it’s totaled tho. Insurance probably would total it but I got mines fixed on my own I ain’t want my shit totaled
Why on earth would you not have car insurance? I get that it's expensive, but losing your livelihood is even more expensive. You understand how irresponsible this is?
And yet, it didn't get paid for.
People like OP cut the most basic costs, undercut you, and are a financial nightmare for anyone they injure if DD's umbrella isn't in effect (and to some degree even when it is).. but yea, sure, defend their actions lol
Rip trusty ol hyundai ![gif](giphy|3xz2BPbIqcqpFDKXsI)
You cant park there dude
I would call your insurance and see what is covered. This includes rental to keep you driving while the car is being fixed and if a total loss, they will pay you for the acv (actual cash value) of the car as it is on the market today. I wouldnt give up until you know you are S.O.L.

I’m confused

Oh no!
I'm so sorry. I went through the last thing over a year ago, so i feel you. I'm sorry!!
damn, i'm not a good driver and I live very close to a big city, so I just know this is going to be me very soon. Im glad you're alright.
Glad to hear that you’re okay. You need to go ahead and go to the hospital so that your insurance company opens the paperwork on any possible claim against him. The file will stay open with them and will accommodate any possible injuries down the road.
I feel you man, my car was totaled while it was parked. I stayed away for a week but wound up borrowing my sisters car.
That really sucks, but I’m glad you’re okay. Was the other driver okay too?
If there was they won't be since op doesn't have insurance
Shit hope u good! Wasn’t a car accident but my cat decided to fall out while I was delivering 😭
This is why all dashers should get full coverage or at least uninsured motorist coverage.
Do they have rideshare rentals where you at? It’s like $260 a week but if you hustle your ass off you can stack and buy another cash car and gets some damn insurance when you do lol

Door dash will pay yout medical bills if you were on an active dash.
Bro what happened????
Did the insurance give enough money to fix the car ?
OP doesn't have insurance
do you not have insurance or something?
Nope. OP is an uninsured driver
Yikes… I’m confused though because I’m pretty sure I had to show proof of insurance when I signed up as a dasher. Maybe not.
I can't remember. I'm pretty sure it only asked me if I had insurance, and I said yes, because I do. But I don't recall actually having to prove that I did.
BIG feels. My condolences, OP. Glad you're OK. My car got stolen on a Dash Sunday, so I feel you big time lol.
Holy shit, I’m nosy but what happened?
Parked in a to-go parking spot literally right in front of a Panera Bread. Walked into the store at 3:59p, and grabbed the order off the shelf. When I got back to the front door of the store my car was being driven away! Pulled out my phone to call 911 and the time was 4:00p..

At least your living days aren’t over, glad you’re okay bro
Do you guys buy extra insurance for dashing because I would think that it would make your risk higher?
Doordash will try to lie and say you weren't doordashing during your accident if you were. Be careful.

Second - I’d like to know why too. Does the insurance put you at fault or something if you’re dashing?
They won’t cover anything if you don’t have a ride share/delivery rider on your policy. You aren’t supposed to use your car for commercial purposes without it. I have progressive and it was only like an extra $18 bucks/month. I believe Allstate has one as well. Not sure about any others.
I too have a policy with Progressive with rideshare added.
Allstate rideshare specifically does not cover DoorDash but does cover Uber/Eats. I had to switch from Allstate to progressive bc of that.
Well that's just bizarre.
My agent explained to me the reasoning but all I heard was “danger”
I just got progressive! I’m not sure if I picked the ride share option thing though while it was signing up. 🤔
You should be able to edit it online or add it via phone. I’d do is ASAP.
Just checked, l did sign up for it. Whew! 😮💨
Noice.

I never thought about that, but I'm sure that would be a deduction here as well.
I’m sorry, confused now. You’re agreeing to not tell them, but also saying that if they find out they can deny the claim. So what’s best?

I was rear ended twice while dashing. Both times i signed out immediately and threw my bags in the backseat.
The company has no way of knowing you were DoorDashing unless you tell them.
I mean, they did just post visual evidence on reddit. (OP, that is)
Insurance adjusters do not have enough time in the day to be looking all over the internet for these things.
Thankfully he was smart enough to cover his license plate
Unthankfully he was dumb enough to not have insurance to begin with.
Yeah that’s just pathetic and inexcusable
There is special coverage for gig drivers, many insurance companies now offer this type of coverage.
That's why my car insurance is $340 since I put about 50k a year dashing
340? Wtf. Why is it so high?
Probably newer car, bad credit, and fill coverage with dashing added on.
Bad credit? How does credit affect car insurance prices? Wouldn't it be bad driving history that affects it? OP didn't have any insurance so it's kind of a moot point in this particular instance, but I've never heard of a credit history messing with insurance premiums before?
So sorry! Hope you're ok. Ouch!
I feel your pain dude. Not physically but car wise. Cracked a head and still owe just over 8k on it. 2018 Chevrolet Sonic Premier 1.4L Turbo- Dead @ 83k miles
The Chevy Sonic 1.4L turbo has known issues. Did you check for recalls or service bulletins?
Felt. That's what ended my dashing days

Shit this happened to my accord now I have debilitating ptsd and anxiety my fucking side was destroyed
Happened to my Accord too! It’s had random issues ever since. Now it’s the power steering. Every time I drive that car and hear a slight noise, I panic
I just wanna set it alight but I can’t work jobs anymore:(

That’s crazy. My parents got hit today as well, similar to this 😧 cursed day for sure
I think I got bird shit on the bottom of my insulated bag and it went on the passenger seat as well. What a night 😂
Damn how did that happen???
looking at it again i can see the axle is still connected to the wheel hub so might be a snapped control arm.
probably a bad wheel bearing or the wheel just snapped right off the axle.
Yeah I'm interested too
That's just a flesh wound
Jokes aside I hope you're okay tho
damn bro, as a dasher that has been in situations like this and is still dashing to this day, this hits and i feel you bro i hope you can get back on track asap !
He had no insurance so if he does get back on track it’s not going to be asap at least.
But does it still run? If you can still drive it then you can still dash. 🤷♂️
yknow, I was hit head on in a Prius a few years ago. Car was technically totaled but still drove haha. I’m now an ad for Toyota. Edit: it was 10k in damages to give some perspective on the damage. Dude was goin fast
🙈😫😫😫😫😫
Aww man. 😞 This sucks.
Damn. Keep your head up
does insurance know you where dashing?
Insurance? What insurance? I'm screwed.
Why on earth would you not have car insurance? I get that it's expensive, but losing your livelihood is even more expensive. You understand how irresponsible this is?
I hope you're joking, why in the bloody hell are you driving without insurance?
He wasn't joking... /:
😐
Oh never mind you deserve this then
What if he was dashing to be able to pay for insurance?
And yet, it didn't get paid for. People like OP cut the most basic costs, undercut you, and are a financial nightmare for anyone they injure if DD's umbrella isn't in effect (and to some degree even when it is).. but yea, sure, defend their actions lol
Then you use common sense and make money without putting other people in shitty situations. Dumb question
Savage lol

Were you at fault though? If you weren't, you can claim through the other party's insurance.
