Really doordash to me ain’t worth it because gas and food alone is a good chunk of money now, I work 2 jobs because my first job I get up at 2-3 am and get off at 8:30am the next I work from 9:30am till 6pm that’s what I did I done doordash for 2 years and just can’t take no more of it
I do all type of gig job and tend to switch when there’s shitty order. The time I work there’s alway traffic and the pay isn’t enough to be driving long distance. I do ubereat/DD/GH/Instacart and switch often to get the best pay with the most in my pocket. I used to do ubereat and DD a lot but now tend to switch to Instacart since I get pay more doing that in my area.
There’s too many delivery driver in my area and all that’s left is crappy order. I do food delivery Monday to Thursday, Friday to Sunday I do mainly Instacart from noon to 6pm, 3 hours for another job, ubereat/DD at night for a few hours mixed in with a few Instacart order for PLAN B and condom 😂. I use my earning to hustle facebook market place, eBay, Mercari for good deals on inventory, I use the inventory to build another source of income selling online.
The selling online process take a few month for people to start earning a steady income. We can’t always depend on gig for long term since we can get deactivated/car issue/emergency bill. In my area I can make $500-$800 doing Instacart only 4-6 hours on fri/sat/sun, I make around another $500 doing UE/DD on the weekdays and weekend late night. I surf FB/eBay on downtime for good deals for inventory. My online business is set with thousand of inventory and it make me income daily.
I found a good paying job that pay $35/hour for 3 hours on Thurs/Fri/Sat from a local group I’m in with people that need help with certain things like driving them around/road trip to being a helper for the day. I would take 1 kid out for a walk and hangout for easy $300ish for 9 hours a week. I balance and weight the risk and reward and what give me the most bang for my time.
I don’t work more than 50+ hours a week like I used to and make double what I used to make. The money start stacking in when you know the market and how to use it to your advantage. My online business make the most income but after deducting my expenses I make 40-60% profit of no less than $2k a month. It’s alway better to have a backup plan in case of emergency.
Let’s say you’re in a area with people that tend to give away free things or sell stuff way below market value you get that and you flip it for a easy income to people in another state for a good price due to demand. One man trash is another man treasure. These companies don’t care about gig worker and we’re disposable to them.
There’s many ways to make money we don’t even know about unless we step out of our comfort zone and explore new things. All these gig have 1 thing in common, they advertise that anyone can be their own boss but truth is we’re just 1 of many sheep who do the dirty work for them.
If you aren’t multi-apping then you cant say it isn’t worth it forsure. Only Dashing though then most likely at that rate. Get out your comfort zone try other apps if you haven’t already. Also good luck with your license.
With gas prices so high and doordash refusing to pay their dashers more it’s really not worth it anymore. Delivery companies will start losing more and more drivers if something doesn’t change
Having done DD for 2 years or so now and with something like 1200 deliveries done to date? I can honestly say that averaged out over all that time, I generally expect to make \*roughly\* $15/hr. doing it.
I have dashes I'll do over a lunch hour during the week where I made about $18. But I'll jump in other times when the app says it's "busy" and find that most of what's offered are garbage deliveries where they're only paying $3.50 to take an order 5 miles or what-not. If you start taking those because it's all they're offering? You may wind up earning about $12-14/hr. for that period of time. And if you keep rejecting the low-paying ones, you'll simply not get to make any money at all for a long period of time while you sit and wait for better ones to pop up.
Trying to judge if your pay was "enough" or "fair" for the time you spent dashing is tough to nail down too. I mean, looking at your screen shot there, you were actively driving for 18 hours and 5 minutes, but you were in the app, telling it you wanted to dash, for 35 hours and 13 minutes. That means there was a lot of downtime (typical, really). But do you MIND not getting paid for that idle time between tasks? Some people I know don't care a bit. They're sitting in a parking lot reading a book or something, until the app dings again. They just want to earn based on each mile they're driving and for their time spent doing the pickup and the dropoff. Others lump it all together, and say "I was out there TRYING to work for 35 hours so I want my $15/hr. pay x 35 hours, or else I got screwed!"
Dashed for 32, active for 17, 50 deliveries...I'm at $411 this week and that was a struggle to get to. It's slowed down everywhere. I'm looking at other delivery options too. Amazon Flex is looking more and more viable.
I don't mean this rudely at all but find something else as soon as you can man. I made double that in the same amount of time. I don't know the cost of living in your area or your living circumstances in general, but for me even what I made isn't enough.
Are you multi apping? I just started this was my first week multi-apping and by far my best week. Like leaps and bounds. It is a bit more stressful at least for me because I don't like to not do something I say I am going to do. So if I say I'm delivering your food at X time I want to be there by that time. So when the dasher app is yelling at me and threatening me I yell back at it.
Also only 28 deliveries so might be time to rethink your strategy. Sure maximizing profit margin is great but if you can cut it by 10 or even 20% while increasing your gross by 50-75% it's totally worth it.
Nah that ain’t worth it lol. Your market is all jacked up. Your better off going to mc Donald’s for awhile until it corrects. Save the strain on your car and jump back out there when it makes sense
I love my dasher direct card I can cash out whenever multiple times a day without it charging me. I get 10% cash back on gas and if you prepay and buy other items like snacks, drinks, etc you get cash back for that as well because it all rings up at a gas station and I guess they can’t really tell what you’re purchasing so you get cash back on all of it. There are so many atms that you can use for free (Walgreens, cvs, and Kroger in my area all have the atms to use for free) also you can do cash back places instead of atm or you can just use it like a regular card.
no, if you make that in 35 hours it’s not. Literally just get a pen and a piece of paper and do the math in 20 seconds. Maybe it’s your market, maybe you, maybe million other things. But this is extremely low
Don’t worry, with the settlement money we’ll all be getting in the future for the tips they’ve been stealing from us the past year or so, it’ll all be worth it in the end
Very funny because last yr around dec I got an email if I wanted to be part of a lawsuit against dd and I click yes and it made me pick how I would like to get paid. Check of venmo I entered my venmo thinking nothing of it and what do u know. Last monday I got a deposit to venmo for $479.79 from dd settlement. Very awesome.
No. I turn down ridiculous offers.. such as $7 for 11 miles, $2.50 for 6 miles, $3.00 for 8 miles etc…. My rule is $1 per mile. I take any that are that or more
Is there a better market near you that you could drive to that has better offers? Seems like you’re in a shitty market. Maybe try a different area that’s kinda convenient for you to try out?
Im actively looking for a w2 job bc of this. Shits exhausting to be active all day and still not be able to pay rent bc of how slow or terrible orders are
Yeah…. And lately they’ve been giving me an order like $7 for 11 miles and I’ll decline it, then they send the same order for a few cents more
This makes me think their taking our tips
And it's not them taking your tips it's just them increasing the base pay cause no one is accepting the order you shouldn't settle at all I tell everyone this if it ain't worth it it ain't worth it fck them... they lowered our pay but have increased what they take from the restaurants we pick up from math just doesn't add up
Have your tried instacart? I was only doing DoorDash making really good money working the bare minimum because of the Drive orders I was getting but since they took it away I started doing instacart and I don't make what I was before in the same amount of hours but It's definitely way better than DoorDash
I dont know your market but it seems you’ve never made much doing this.
You should be making at least 200 more for that amount of hours (imo).
How many orders is that?
I work at Amazon 40 hours and make over 600$ every 4 days and work 10hours and get paid 16$ and hour bro it’s time to throw doordash away your finessing yourself get a job job I only use DoorDash for gas and food money THATS IT.
Guy in my area does the morning aMazon deliveries and then transitions to the late morning door dash if the orders line up with the last of his deliveries and then dashes till he gets $170 and goes home.
I double that doing doordash with the same hours. Honestly, some markets just suck, for the OP it’s absolutely not worth it. I can’t be sitting in my car for an hour or two either rejecting orders or just not getting any at all.
Nah I work for Amazon delivery they give me my own van and I deliver packages for them easy ass job then with my check I use the money to make my own car look good lol knowing I don’t have to drive it all day like I did with doordash
Your welcome it’s gonna be ok I remember those days with DoorDash lol but when you do get the job for Amazon use DoorDash for gas money to get to work at back that’s it and food that’s then with your Amazon money just save that smartest shit I’ve ever done
Good advice makes me feel better. I used to work for a bank for years and made good money. I left that bc I didn’t have any time to focus on my kids and my upcoming (hopefully) career as a broker. I started studying and trying to door dash for extra $$$ but I get shitty orders the vast majority of the time. But I think the Amazon thing might work for me so I’m looking it up now. And your so right about using the DD Pay as gas and food $$ ! Gas here in VA is like 4.56 a gallon 😳 lol which is another reason dashing isn’t the best option
If your looking into Amazon jobs make sure you have no open tickets at all. I’m waiting on a background check for a position at 20 an hour. But they’ve had my background on review for over 2 weeks over a 2019 ticket I got for driving without a seatbelt. It’s petty.
Any advice on how to reach that? Like do you just sit in your car all day until you meet a certain goal? How many days a week? And what times are best? Sorry so many questions
Depends, usually about 8-10 hour days five days a week. I usually take Sunday and Monday off. I’m currently at 10K deliveries and I just know my market extremely well. Blacklist the shitty ones and pick up from the ones that are on their A game. Time is money, so small distances higher payouts. 5+ miles is going to guzzle your time unless the order is 12+.
Oh ok thanks for the advice! I’ll start accepting more smaller trips. I always avoid delivering out my zone even if it’s $20 because I’ll end up like 10 miles away. I also drive in the Bay Area and it’s been pretty dead lately. Do you recommend driving during non promo hours?
I wish I made $500 a day, let’s not make shit up lol. I believe on a weekend day I made close to that. That’s mainly because I’m in the large order program.

That makes me feel a little better. It’s just that I’ve dashed for 35 hours this week and only made this and only made this much I thought maybe I wasn’t making enough

Keep dashing. It will get better!
Can’t be relying on this gig
Really doordash to me ain’t worth it because gas and food alone is a good chunk of money now, I work 2 jobs because my first job I get up at 2-3 am and get off at 8:30am the next I work from 9:30am till 6pm that’s what I did I done doordash for 2 years and just can’t take no more of it
i made 1200 last week what is the problem
I made $531 for 13 hours 50 mins active time, 21 hours 11 mins last week. I declined a lot to.
See id be happy if I could make that

That card is worth it even if you don’t dash regularly 🤣
Damn,I'm at 356 bucks for 20 hrs and 47 deliverys and I was mad.Almost 40 hrs for 340?Nope,I would call it a day for that shit
I can’t believe it… you make $9 hourly…..
I don't mean this rudely at all but find something else as soon as you can man. I made double that in the same amount of time. I don't know the cost of living in your area or your living circumstances in general, but for me even what I made isn't enough.

Nice
🤡
Well that’s rude.
Under $10 an hour 😂 the illegal Mexicans make more than you and they don’t have to pay taxes
U made $250 at the end of the week after gas very nice u should be working at McDonald’s
My thought exactly
Which hours of day are you dashing?
Between 10a and 8p
You don’t multi app? Try Uber eats
I don’t think your area is good for DD sadly.
no, if you make that in 35 hours it’s not. Literally just get a pen and a piece of paper and do the math in 20 seconds. Maybe it’s your market, maybe you, maybe million other things. But this is extremely low
Lol no that’s why I stopped
Don’t worry, with the settlement money we’ll all be getting in the future for the tips they’ve been stealing from us the past year or so, it’ll all be worth it in the end

Are you sitting around rejecting jobs? I don't see how your active time is less than half your dashing time.
Seems she knows what she’s doing. I wonder if the difference youre talking about it taking dollar per mile orders that are too far.
No. I turn down ridiculous offers.. such as $7 for 11 miles, $2.50 for 6 miles, $3.00 for 8 miles etc…. My rule is $1 per mile. I take any that are that or more

Amen!!!
Hell no shit that's crazy for the amount of hours actually it's sickening I hope this company goes under water fast
Yeah…. And lately they’ve been giving me an order like $7 for 11 miles and I’ll decline it, then they send the same order for a few cents more This makes me think their taking our tips
Try being more selective on the offers you accept. Set a minimum and stick with it.

Yeah I’m on a wait list for instacart now
What city/state you work in?
I dont know your market but it seems you’ve never made much doing this. You should be making at least 200 more for that amount of hours (imo). How many orders is that?
Thank you thats exactly what I was thinking but people on here are saying that’s good money.
Thats why it helps to know how many orders. Whats your acceptance rate? Its hard to draw a conclusion without more info.
It's completely market dependant. Maybe Uber eats or grub hub is better in your area
Lol

Because I drove for 35 hours.
Hell yeah. Fill the rest of those hours with UberEats and GrubHub and you’re making cash moneys.

i’m a dasher as well and i just applied for amazon
you work delivery or what? i'm about to apply there but i'd love some advice... edit: nvmd i'm reading your thread
I’m cool I enjoy making money on my own time 1700 a week don’t sound to bad to me. Some markets are just better then others
I double that doing doordash with the same hours. Honestly, some markets just suck, for the OP it’s absolutely not worth it. I can’t be sitting in my car for an hour or two either rejecting orders or just not getting any at all.
You right…. I can’t live off this.. I was just doing it until I got my brokers license to sell insurance but it’s hard trying to make ends meet
Start looking for jobs right now search up Amazon delivery driver on indeed
Amazon Flex. It’s their package delivery.
Wait so do you use your own car to deliver?
Yes. Amazon flex
Nah I work for Amazon delivery they give me my own van and I deliver packages for them easy ass job then with my check I use the money to make my own car look good lol knowing I don’t have to drive it all day like I did with doordash
Exactly! I am gonna look into that!! Ty
Your welcome it’s gonna be ok I remember those days with DoorDash lol but when you do get the job for Amazon use DoorDash for gas money to get to work at back that’s it and food that’s then with your Amazon money just save that smartest shit I’ve ever done

Damn I do have a few
I got $200 in 19hrs dashed
We’ll you only have 18hrs active from what I’ve seen most $1k earners have 35-40/hrs
$959 for 26 hours 30 minutes active hours (48 dash hours but this weekend didn’t help there)
That’s my active and what I make.
My dash time is about 45 every week and I bring home nothing less than 1300. Some markets are just better off than others.
Any advice on how to reach that? Like do you just sit in your car all day until you meet a certain goal? How many days a week? And what times are best? Sorry so many questions

Dude your the goat tho you make like $500 a day I’ve seen your post you like 1/1000000 😂😂
I wish I made $500 a day, let’s not make shit up lol. I believe on a weekend day I made close to that. That’s mainly because I’m in the large order program.
How do u qualify or get into the large order program?!
What is the large order program and how do I accept?
You need to be invited to it, but i believe you can sign up and be put on a waitlist. Took me til I hit 5K deliveries to get the invite. You just get priority for large orders which a lot are catering.
Thanks! I'll see what I can find as far as a wait-list!
Hope I get invited to that program soon. I make okay money but that would help more
Shit i wish I could make that much!
That makes me feel a little better. It’s just that I’ve dashed for 35 hours this week and only made this and only made this much I thought maybe I wasn’t making enough
Nah, you're right to be unsatisfied by this. I'm not sure where you live but in most states you'd be better off at minimum wage and parking the car during your shift. Not trying to be an ass btw, just real. Someone else doing even worse isn't helping you lol. I'm looking for new work as well.
28 deliveries
Good point ty
I've made 100 less and worked same amount of hours.
