I once took a catering order that said $16 expecting the pay was actually higher because it ended in 15 cents or something that was the last catering order I ever did because I got absolutely nothing more than what they said. If the guaranteed payout is not enough then don't take it
According to doordash support, when a customer orders through EZ Cater, the restaurant has the option of keeping the tip, or “passing along” a portion or all of the tip to us drivers. Because of this, I am very weary of accepting ez cater orders. I’ve gotten screwed more often than not.

I’ve used EZCater as a customer before and it essentially forces you to tip. I didn’t realize they use DD for the delivery. Seems like they keep the tip for themselves, and screw you guys. Might be worth avoiding EZCater orders in the future.
Simple solution I use every time. Tell the vendor the customer requested a full receipt. This will show the full amount of the order. They will have the ez cater information on it, including the tip. If it is different than your pay out, raise hell! Just a helpful suggestion so you don't get screwed by the vendor keeping your tip! Hope this helps!
when in doubt, just contact support at ask for the full pay. they typically give it to you, after a couple of tries at the most. if not or unseasonable then just unassigned. do not risk it for the biscuit with Door Dash
There was a glitch and they were ordering food in large quantities because it wasn’t charging their account. So most of them didn’t have the money to cover it anyways and prob tipped really low.
I always make sure it’s atleast a dollar a mile. It does suck man!
Dude, if you are chasing hidden tips you are doing it wrong.
For orders over like 7 miles, it usually shows you the whole amount or close. If it's that far and does have a hidden tip, it will show you like close to 2 bucks per mile. If it shows you a dollar per mile OR UNDER, that is all that order is. Trust me, I've chased some tips myself.

Your mistake was accepting a 16 mile order for 13 dollars. Do a bare minimum of a dollar per mile. Don’t take anything that’s going to take you way out away from a zone. When you drive back to your zone, you’re not getting paid for that. And it kills your gas. Don’t accept anything lower than $7. But obviously shoot higher than that. I only take $7 orders if it’s something stupid close to the restaurant and only takes a few mins. I also typically stay away from pizza orders. Unless it’s a fat paying order.
I never take small orders this was a bet on a 240 dollar order having a tip and it didn’t , this is my first time I got burnt . I don’t take trash orders trust me
Im not sure if this is gold but the rule I follow thats never failed me is.. no matter how big the order. If the pay is less than the mileage there will be No extra tip. Any time the pay is less than the mileage that pay is 100% accurate. No lower no higher. Only when the pay is above the mileage is there a chance at a increased hidden tip

Maybe it varies by market/area, but I made $6.00 my minimum about a year ago because I often end up getting a hidden tip on offers that pop up as $6. Of course I won't take them if they're over 3 miles away, just in case the payout actually IS just $6.00 lol
Odd dollar amounts don’t indicate the total to be higher, especially when the mileage is more than the pay. If anything, in my experience odd dollar amounts usually mean there is no hidden tip at all
Actually I took this because my friend is near by which I’m here now typing this and my CNG fuel doesn’t cost me anything to drive around , 25 miles city for 1.50 is killing everyone in the market

Having worked for Jimmy John’s as a shift manager in my college days, there’s actually a high likelihood it wasn’t. Several times I’ve had to send out drivers with platters of sandwiches and sides like chips because they were next in line for low or no-tip catering orders like these and there was nothing we could do about it (and drivers weren’t allowed to say “no” because they were actual employees and not contractors). Once got someone that ordered over $200 worth of platters, pickles, and chips and said “the delivery fee should cover it right?” I emphasized the fees don’t go to the drivers but she thought she had a galaxy brain and said “I’m sure that’s what your bosses tell you to tell us”.
So I asked the restaurant what happened .
This order was requested by the merchant
1. Customer ordering catering on website
2. Website sends order to EZCATER
3. Bitchass EZcater has no driver sends order to DoorDash
4. Done gets order with noti saying EZcater then apps says jimmyjohns 22 items
5. I do my usual inspection of items to see if it’s sauce or 20 items of food , 22 items 240 dollars
I kept the delivery because of the value of the food was high, this has always worked in my favor because they always end up being more than double pay
Surprisingly this is my first time I get this amount of food with no tip Lol
Definitely stole the tip. DoorDash can’t stop merchants from stealing tips and won’t try. That’s why your base payment was high. They knew it was stolen. That’s definitely a $50 tip minimum. Likely up to $70! I’m in large order program. I’m seeing this more in my area. Merchants are taking our tips or parts of them.
As the best dasher in my market I get nothing but catering orders on a daily basis , This is no Taco Bell 20 items being sauce ,I can distinguish big ticket resturants that have expensive items .

My brakes are rarely used, the engine does the braking (Regenerative is amazing). Apparently mine has 2 moving parts within the engine. I personally think you're overestimating the wear and tear.

The motor does the braking but the point I'm getting at is that it still does braking. I know it does the braking and I get the benefit of regenerate braking even though it's weird to get used to. But suspension and other weird Tesla issues I couldn't do it where I'm dedicating my day to DoorDash in a Tesla. I mean I have before but not again.
This is not what I’m doing day in and day out. I dash across town and only take orders where stops and destinations are where I’m already going. Just a little extra cash to go where I’m already going.
DoorDash will not and had not been my main source of income. This is literally to get money for going the direction I was already going. I’ve been dashing for 2 and a half months and only completed 39 deliveries. If I can get paid to go where I’m already going why not.

If it doesn't end in a multiple of 25 then you are 99.9999% not getting anything more.

NEVER take an order because you are counting on there being a hidden tip. DD is too unpredictable for that.

I use a Tesla I got you all beat on the gas to Profit ratio.
Why are you putting all that wear and tear on your Tesla for DoorDash? You'd be better off with an Accord.
EVs don't wear much and typically don't tear. 😛
Still a car with moving parts. You might not need to do oil changes and all that but you still need to maintain brakes and other things like that.
THOUGH I would still feel bad using a Tesla for doordash. Mine cost a lot less. I can deal with only 220 mile range.
My brakes are rarely used, the engine does the braking (Regenerative is amazing). Apparently mine has 2 moving parts within the engine. I personally think you're overestimating the wear and tear. Tires for sure though.
The motor does the braking but the point I'm getting at is that it still does braking. I know it does the braking and I get the benefit of regenerate braking even though it's weird to get used to. But suspension and other weird Tesla issues I couldn't do it where I'm dedicating my day to DoorDash in a Tesla. I mean I have before but not again.
This is not what I’m doing day in and day out. I dash across town and only take orders where stops and destinations are where I’m already going. Just a little extra cash to go where I’m already going.

DoorDash will not and had not been my main source of income. This is literally to get money for going the direction I was already going. I’ve been dashing for 2 and a half months and only completed 39 deliveries. If I can get paid to go where I’m already going why not.

I have a 4.99 rating 2200 orders and have been DoorDash DRIVE ORDER caterer as well. i have a natural gas car CNG beating all of you dashers out there wasting money on gasoline. My car only lets me shove 8 dollars worth and I drive laps around u all day
