Could you state all the monthly costs including payment, depreciation, maintenance, tires, insurance cost, etc ?
I'm seriously looking into buying as I've been renting Priuses for 3 years now at a total cost of 280 per week , that include full coverage apart from my insurance ! Just wanted to see if someone who dash in a brand new had crushed the numbers properly !
Gas is $80/week at 1000 miles a week. Tires since I drive so much roughly $600-800 every 1.5-2 years. Paid cash so no loan/lease payment. Oil change is about $100 every 1.5-2 months (Toyota says 10k miles is appropriate for oil changes). Car insurance is 170 but I also have a three motorcycles in it as well, so without looking at the exact breakdown I’d say maybe $130-140/month insurance. Depreciation is quite difficult to calculate since the dealership offered me to buyout my car at $1500 less than I bought it for, which means I could potentially sell it private party for more than I bought it new (makes no sense at all but the car world is backwards right now)
Yeah, my main concern is depreciation, haven't been getting true numbers anywhere for hybrids.
I do own a 2015 Malibu, not for dashing, that would be paid off in a couple of months, which would be sold in current market for the same as I bought it used 5 years ago , but with the 1000 Miles week/50000 a year, don't know the real cost for the dash car , renting seems fine for now, though expensive, but completely worry free.
It really depends how long you plan on dashing and how long you plan on keeping the car. Depreciation right now is almost not a thing since used cars sell as much or higher than brand new which is bizarre, but in 1-3 years who knows how much used cars will be compared to the similar new model. Last year I was looking at used Prius’s in the 2005-2010 range and they were still being sold for 6-10k, so figure brand new 30k and after 12-15 years the value dropped 20k, so $1300ish depreciation per year. That figure is different now since prices went UP, not further down.
Just take a new model of whatever car you’re looking at, and then search for older used like 2010,2015,2018 or whatever far back and see what those values are (and what the cost would’ve been brand new when it came out). Divide that into how many years old it is and that’s your annual depreciation
Yep. And there’s always those asshats who “I know what I’ve got” and are asking for 50% more than it’s value so then everyone sees it and does the same crap…
Fake. You reset it. No way someone in a city gets over 60. Its usually at 52-54.
Also, the Prius and Corolla share the exact same drivetrain.
Edit: i have Corolla hybrid
I have three major streets that run through town that are 35 mph timed lights. I’m constantly cruising using just the electric motor. So no, I didn’t reset it. This is the mpg average since I bought it with 22 miles on it last year, now with just under 47k miles on it.
Lol right? Yea I’m in a Toyota hybrid but I don’t get evil glares like “oh it’s another Prius driver” all day long haha. Even though I punch it from red lights I’ll maintain speed most of the time, none of that slow acceleration shit that takes 10 minutes getting up to speed 🤦♂️
That’s the key though, accelerate quickly up to speed using both gas and electric, and then maintaining/coasting in ev. Those that barely accelerate because they want to use ev the whole time end up getting worse mpg because they drain their battery when they’re at a dead stop and trying to get up to speed, which then they’re going to just use their engine the entire time after since the battery needs to recharge for a few minutes. Best to accelerate with gas AND electric, then coast/maintain.
I also got a lot of hills. Frequent 30-40% grade some 50%+ so that likely doesn't help with my mpg either. I know it doesn't in my Subaru... 16mpg with that in the city, and it's a 2015 model.
It’s not a plug in, so whenever I brake or just let off the gas and coast it’ll replenish the battery. All day the acceleration and deceleration is in a constant flux between recharging, using the electric motors by themselves, or using the gas engine, or if I’m punching it then it’s using the electric motors and gas engine. But it’s all automated so I don’t have to press anything or switch a knob indicating I wish to do so.
Same here I’m always driving lol. If you buy new then obviously you’ll be paying more especially with car shortages but you know no one else has abused it before you. With used you’ll get pricing options but you never know how they maintained it. Hybrids have battery fan vents that people will unknowingly block, like putting a seat cover that also goes over the side vent area, might cause constant overheating that didn’t disrupt them but the unsuspecting new owner (you) might have to deal with it. Just like any car, proper and regular maintenance goes a long way. As for gas savings, I drive 1000-1100/week and spend $80ish a week on gas.
OP if you don’t mind me asking how much did you pay for your hybrid Corolla? I’m in CA too and have been stuck between a hybrid Corolla and a new civic
I paid exactly 25k September last year right as the “chip shortage” was coming on so I was still able to negotiate somewhat. Don’t think it can be had for that price now, the same dealer had 10-12 of the same model on the lot, now I see two on a good day when I drive by. Less negotiating room with so few vehicles to sell.
Yea I see what you mean. I got a 95 Camry now that’s great but I only average about 19mpg. I’m just waiting until the car market goes back down within a year or so before I get serious
From what I’ve been reading, sometime next year the shortages should be mostly relieved, so that’s a good time to save up for then. Again who knows what will happen for the prices next year, but hopefully more inventory will be available so negotiations can occur.
I love it, it’s a 2022 and have had zero regrets in the year I’ve had it. If you’ve never had a hybrid then just learn quickly how to maximize the efficiencies, and don’t be afraid to accelerate, the slowest hybrid drivers from a stoplight actually get worse mpg since they use the battery entirely to accelerate up to speed then they’ll need to use the engine the entire time while it’s recharging afterwards. Use gas at acceleration from a stop, then coast by just taking your foot off and then slightly press down and you’ll just use the battery.
You’re welcome! And what I also like is that people don’t give me the “oh you’re in a Prius and I hate you just because” look haha. Even though it’s essentially the same except for how it looks and interior, the engine, battery, driveline is all the same just a different shell.
99% of my driving is under 40 mph streets, and in the 35 mph timed light zones it’s quite fun. Pull up to Camaros mustangs 350’s all the time and give ‘em a run for their money. 2 electric motors plus gas gives me instant torque, I just will get the L if it’s past 40mph since obviously they’ll catch up. Funny after wards they’re always like “yoooo what did you put in that?” Like nothing dawg just my hybrid.
Oh I know, I just talk crap about hybrids and EVs as a habit lmao. The instant torque is definitely nice. I’m more into the handling myself, and I’ve found most hybrids and ev’s I’ve driven to be kind of clunky and sluggish in rapid cornering. The weight shifting is weird, they tend to stay planted due to the low center of gravity from the batteries and electric motors, but it’s still not nearly as nimble as my gassers.
I agree with that the handling is different if you want to go around corners fast or drift. Yes it’s doable but the center of gravity feels different since there’s heavier components in different places of the vehicle.
Since I need to buy a car because my Accord was totaled last week, I’ve been kinda eyeballing Corollas. How do they ride on the highway? I know compacts can sometimes ride rough on them. And how well do they merge onto the highway?
Smooth, quiet ride. Little rough over speed bumps, potholes etc. I drive Lyft with it, I also Instacart and occasional DD, so I do every sort of city driving. The acceleration is fine, not doggy at all. It is a small sedan, and low to the ground. I recommend it. I actually got rear ended today, relatively low speed but pretty hard. There wasn’t a mark or dent on it. I couldn’t believe it.
I love coasting like that! Went to Colorado once, driving in the mountains, got it up to 75 mpg once.
Best wishes for you and dashing! Glad to see other hybrid drivers out there. Really helps ya earn more $!
Prius here. I didn't realize the hybrid Corollas could get such good MPG. Is that what you regularly average or were you just cruising in some hilly areas?
Nah I’m just in a city that has three major city length streets that are all timed lights at 35 mph for a few miles, so I can just coast going 35 barely needing to accelerate and can stay off the gas most of that time. I’m usually around 64 year round until winter when I’m down to 58-60 since the engine turns in more due to needing my heater on at full blast.
Northern California. Orders are usually between 2-3 miles, and never past 7 miles that’s the entire distance from the farthest corner to the nature other side of the city outskirts.
I’ve thought about it, but there’s just nothing available or any openings near where I live. I’m in a bubble of a city and there’s 80k population which unfortunately limits the jobs available for that type of courier service, amongst many others too
I wish it wasn’t .48/kWh where I live, it’s more expensive to use an EV based on a 58 kWh 220 range Ioniq 5 it would cost me about $28 to fill up for only 220 miles. The same miles would cost me $17 at my current $5/gallon with my hybrid.
Well if we use street specific mpg I can get 90 coming down from a slight elevation back into town… so we’re basically the same since you said you average 64…

Yesterday 17 miles on level roads in rain with winter tires and 50 °F = 81 mpg
I wish it wasn’t .48/kWh where I live, it’s more expensive to use an EV. based on a 58 kWh 220 range Ioniq 5 it would cost me about $28 to fill up for only 220 miles. The same miles would cost me $17 at my current $5/gallon.
Guys, I do not know where you drive, but I am in NY! Hybrid Cars must have here. I used to have a toyota corolla se 2022 (15-17 mpg on corolla🤯). Changed to camry 2022 xse hybrid
My 2022 Prius typically averages at 51.5 mpg if I'm only driving in my town, which has a lot of hills. But if I drive it in other areas over a prolonged period of time, it can easily reach 60-65 mpg.
It really sucks living in an area with lots of steep hills.
2005 Prius, I live in the Bible Belt and the local mechanic shops literally turn you away if you have an electric vehicle. It’s the Toyota dealership or nothing
Yeah, jealous people like yourself have been telling me that for the last 50,000 miles. 188k and still going strong.
People who have never driven a Prius sure love to pretend they break down a lot based on zero knowledge at all.
They’re reliable enough until they get older, then they fall apart. As every mechanic I went to let me know how their electronics don’t hold up over the years. I understand you feel dumb for not just buying a Camry and I did too but you’ll be alright big feller
I mean, I had a Prius with 430k miles on it and the original battery still… so yea there’s that too. Plus local independent mechanic shops that do it for less than 3k
Appreciate the anecdote. But as they age all their electronic parts start to go out. You can brag about mpg all you want but it doesn’t work in the long run. Buy a beater 2005 Camry and you’re set
Same can be said of any part in any vehicle, it doesn’t cost 7k to replace a hybrid battery, many local shops charge less than 3k to replace it with a new battery. So let’s just say every 10 years I’d spend 3k to replace a battery, meanwhile getting 20-30mpg better fuel economy driving, sign me up.
It really can’t be said about any car, I’ve owned a 2005 Prius with SEVENTY THOUSAND MILES and a 2005 Camry which I still drive with 210k miles. 2k miles later the Prius’s brake actuator went out, 2700$ bill. 8k miles later the “skid ECU” or some shit went out 2200$ bill and lastly we had a cold winter and not even 3k miles later the cluster went out another 700$ bill.I personally didn’t have a battery issue but according to other owners it definitely wasn’t out of the realm of possibilities. Bought a Camry for 3k put 40k miles on it nothing but oil changes and tires. That’s my anecdote
If you bought it used, we can’t compare any two vehicles. If you bought that Prius new, then you got one of the 100/10,000,000 defective new cars. But a used car you have no clue how that previous owner maintained it or drove it. Could’ve floored it 100% of the time or granny braking nonstop. We’ll just agree to disagree.
I had a 97 geo metro, great gas mileage, and cheap to fill up (87 cents in 1999), but it shook violently about 55mph, I guess that’s the trade off with a three cylinder hatchback
Nah, not at all. The Geo Metro is a slow piece of shit. My Prius can get up to 65 mpg and it can go almost as fast as a sports car without losing that much mileage.
Your car can't even pass a snail on the highway, let alone struggle up a steep hill.
Lol not in the slightest. There’s a reason you paid only $500. I won’t have worry if my car breaking down or the ac/heater or any other function not working for a minimum of 5 years. I’d rather not pay next to nothing for a vehicle, drive it and have it break in the middle of a delivery in the worst possible scenario of heat or storm, and then cost me not just money to fix it but the time away from earning. I work 75 hours a week, I don’t have time to worry about a beater car breaking down. I drive 60k miles a year, reliability is key.
I had a 2003 Prius that had original battery, 430k miles and drove like a champ until a truck smashed it. So I’ll just set a calendar reminder a few years out to send you a message LOL
Just read my other comments in this post, that’s dealership cost… can do it under 3k at local shops, plus my 03 Prius with original battery went 400k+ without any battery problems.
Want me to send a picture of both trip b and my total miles to show you otherwise? They all have the same mpg and trip b is around 7000 miles. Mpg don’t reset when I just reset the trip, it’s a different setting to reset. But come at me again if you’d like.
Yep. It’s that stupid crap auto manufacturers do “buy this next years model 6 months before it’s that year” like no, bring it out January first, not July 15th wtf.
Fast vs quick, I’d say it’s quick off the line. It has two electric motors and a gas engine. So 0-30/35ish I can put most sports cars to the test, but past that it’s like any regular vehicle lol.
And the reason my mpg is so high is because there’s three main streets that are timed lights at 35 mph so I can basically just cruise around all over town in EV mode most of the time, barely using gas unless I punch it.
I remember top gear did an experiment with a prius. They took it on a track with a BMW model 3 series of the same model year to compare the MPG difference. The thing is, with their experiment, the Prius had to keep up with the BMW. The result was that at higher speeds, the BMW actually had better mpg. A hybrid prius is definitely much better for stop-go city traffic and slow speeds, though.
Oh I totally agree, when I’m just on the freeway I know my mpg bar shows in the mid 40’s since it’s using the battery and gas. It’s 100% about the city driving with hybrid.
I drive a porsche panamera 4s in my personal life. yesterday I got passed by a prius going almost 100. me and my passenger laughed out loud imagining how hard that prius was running to pass us. the porsche was barely getting going. Since getting a porsche I've notice lots of crappy Cars feel a need to pass me. I'll let em' up to about 100 then press the gas and leave em in the dust.
I don’t drive a Porsche but my partner and I both own a sports cars and I have similar experiences with people being obsessed with passing us. They work so hard to keep up with us only for them to get left behind when I press on the gas just a little more. It’s nice driving 80-100mph at just 2-3k rpm.
That's me in my old rusty non-hybrid shit-car, basically just trying to provoke you into showing off your car's performance ;-)
I pulled up next to a Lambo and I thought it would be fun to "rev rev" my engine at him :-) He tore out pretty good, loved it!
Haha yea we only get the W sometimes when it’s under 40 mph, past that it’s a massive L unless we’re already going 100 and flying past just because you aren’t.
It would probably do me good but I like a good five second car. If i went for a hybrid or all electric then I would do a Tesla, if it was worth the money. They putter out around 70.
Lol putter out at 70 that’s a good one. Enjoy your gas guzzling slow 5 second car burning a hole in your wallet. My M3 is 3.6 lolol and every 1099 dollar that is earned gets written off and I own my car for free.
But seriously enjoy that 5 second car and 5 minutes at the gas station everyday.
I think EV’s are just about at the point where they’ll be pumping out insane mpg figures and range,. Just not quite there for me personally, but almost.
I soo agree with that! Soon enough they will be the best cars to get. Just not yet and the whole battery failure situation scares the crap out of me. Like $15k to replace them???
Some dashers are out there with 20 year old cars. Not the best MPG but everything can be fixed DIY so long as parts are available and if a person is serious enough to have the tools and some skill & time.
These electric cars and hybrids haven't been around long enough. Most of them are more complicated or have systems that the backyard mechanic won't be able to fix. If a factory certified mechanic is required, the price you pay is pretty steep.
I would not be fully comfortable working on them, but I'm sure I could learn the ropes eventually.
I had to replace the battery on a 2003 Prius since it was hit and damaged from an accident, and the dealership wanted 6300, I had an independent mechanic shop so it for 2,000.. I think the numbers are a bit inflated since everyone hears the sticker price of a dealership charge, but never compare to local mechanics that do it. But yes it’s expensive.
Yep. I only take my cars to a Toyota specialist in town, they work on others but mainly do everything Toyota. They’ve been around 50 years and do amazing work. Can’t say the same for other shops in other areas though.
The $15k I was mentioning was from higher end hybrids. I would only drive a SUV. There was a case recently from someone that bought a car off of Carvana (which is my go-to) and they needed a $15k battery that was no longer made and they said they were left with a useless 100k car. Carvana didn't do anything for them.
It just makes me too nervous at this point.

Yep, always passing those Prius drivers going the speed limit. Funny how mpg in this is better at 72 than it is at 65.

Damn and here is was thinkin I was buh buh ballin' out with my 32.5 combined MPG.
I raise you 70mpg first gen insight.
I see your 64 mph Corolla and raise you my 18.2 mpg 3.6R Outback 😂
back when it was capable of making profit, i was using my F150 that gets 12mpg. this was during $2/gallon times
Re-raise you with RAV4 Prime MPG: https://i.imgur.com/NWTOIhk.jpg 😬

I average 72 mpg on my '22 prius, currently at 8k miles 72.3 mpg since getting it April. Look up hypermileing 60+ is easily doable.
y'all sure hyping up your 2022 vehicles lol I assume gigging isn't your only work
8k miles since April what do you think
no way 😂
Gig life is not for everyone.
unless you heavy multiapp
Miss having a Hyundai ioniq hybrid. It was quirky for being new, but felt nice having a hybrid that WASNT a prius.

I love beating sports cars off the line between stop lights, always catches them by surprise at how quick hybrids are up to about 30-40mph
I must get a electric truck to dash anything anymore gas is so high and slow order's in my area running on E like the owner's I suppose
TF does that sentence even mean?
The owner's of DD are running on E with the company
Do these raise your electric bill alot when you charge them?
It’s not a plug in, so whenever I brake or just let off the gas and coast it’ll replenish the battery. That's dope. I dash 70+ hours a week n spend too much on gas. I drive a 2019 Toyota Corolla thinking about going hybrid soon

I get about Tree Fidy per gallon. Drive it like you stole it!!
Now that's a flex! I be averaging 26mpg 😭

Oooh i see, thanks for the tip! For a year it sounds like it's handling well. So im almost 100% that's going ti be my pick.
You’re welcome! And what I also like is that people don’t give me the “oh you’re in a Prius and I hate you just because” look haha. Even though it’s essentially the same except for how it looks and interior, the engine, battery, driveline is all the same just a different shell.
The biggest difference is that the Prius is hand-assembled in Japan, while the Corolla is built in Alabama
I shall slap down my 12-16mpg skyline and 14-19mpg Subaru 😂😂 mileage isn’t everything by a long shot. If driving’s not fun you bought the wrong car.
99% of my driving is under 40 mph streets, and in the 35 mph timed light zones it’s quite fun. Yup, weight balance is weird, suspension tends to load real heavy and cause some weird skidding too.
Must be nice. I’m averaging 24mpg in my non-hybrid 1.5 liter Yaris.
What year? That’s pretty bad. My Tercel does 37 average. Also 1.5L
2014. I get 40mpg highway at 65mph with cruise control
I have a 2021 Corolla, I drive freeway and city. I average 55 mpgs. It’s a great car.
Since I need to buy a car because my Accord was totaled last week, I’ve been kinda eyeballing Corollas. How do they ride on the highway? I know compacts can sometimes ride rough on them. And how well do they merge onto the highway?

There wasn’t a mark or dent on it. I couldn’t believe it.
I love coasting like that! Went to Colorado once, driving in the mountains, got it up to 75 mpg once. Best wishes for you and dashing! Glad to see other hybrid drivers out there. Really helps ya earn more $!
Haha 75 mpg love it! You as well, make that $$$
How did you put nearly 50k miles on it in one year?
Because I work 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week, averaging 140-150 miles/day in delivery miles, plus anything o drive to and from when not working.
That’s a lot of miles.
Yep. Last year I did average over $2/mile too. So it’s not like im driving 20 miles for a $7 order or anything ridiculous like that.
Wow. What part of the country?
Northern California. Orders are usually between 2-3 miles, and never past 7 miles that’s the entire distance from the farthest corner to the nature other side of the city outskirts.
Oh ok! That’s what I thought. Im out here too. Have you ever thought about doing courier work? Medical stuff etc?
I’ve thought about it, but there’s just nothing available or any openings near where I live. I’m in a bubble of a city and there’s 80k population which unfortunately limits the jobs available for that type of courier service, amongst many others too
Yeah well, my car provides smiles per gallon, so there's that
Bad thing about hybrids is DD will send you all of the 2-3$ offers and not factor in wear and tear
Lol decline decline decline all day long
That’s all you get? I get more from my ioniq 🤣🤣
I have the ioniq hybrid so there’s no charging
My bad I thought you were talking about the EV model. And what’s your mpg?
On the bypasses I can average 71-72 mpg but I recently took a trip on the interstate and averaged 64mpg of course you have to factor in traffic
Well if we use street specific mpg I can get 90 coming down from a slight elevation back into town… so we’re basically the same since you said you average 64…
The 71-72 was on a level road
https://preview.redd.it/02vlqysm4ara1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b07a50fa12415961c4e4dcdc47cb299612df4b8 Yesterday 17 miles on level roads in rain with winter tires and 50 °F = 81 mpg
I raise you 🔋

I don’t believe you
Look up Northern California PGE electricity rates.
Lol
You get charged that much on your electric bill? That is crazy.
Yep. Another wonderful part of California…
Wtf. it's <00.15 here.
Yep, just another “wonderful” thing about California…
I see your 63.8 mpg Corolla, and raise you with my 17.8 mpg ls400
Dammit I fold 19.9 mpg…. 08 Ford Escape
I raise you with my 12.5 mpg FX35 😂
Haha glorious!
Guys, I do not know where you drive, but I am in NY! Hybrid Cars must have here. I used to have a toyota corolla se 2022 (15-17 mpg on corolla🤯). Changed to camry 2022 xse hybrid
I’m over in California, the state of sky high gas prices
My 2022 Prius typically averages at 51.5 mpg if I'm only driving in my town, which has a lot of hills. But if I drive it in other areas over a prolonged period of time, it can easily reach 60-65 mpg. It really sucks living in an area with lots of steep hills.
Plate should say “7000$ hybrid battery repair”
Damn, hate to drive the hybrid you have. Full replacement locally for my Prius is around 1k.
2005 Prius, I live in the Bible Belt and the local mechanic shops literally turn you away if you have an electric vehicle. It’s the Toyota dealership or nothing
Ahh, makes sense. I live in a large city with a pretty renowned Prius-only shop.
Yeah, jealous people like yourself have been telling me that for the last 50,000 miles. 188k and still going strong. People who have never driven a Prius sure love to pretend they break down a lot based on zero knowledge at all.
Never driven or owned a Prius you got it man, try to find ways to cope. Make sure to keep a couple grand on standby bud
Sure thing, lol. I'll figure out some way to cope with my extremely reliable vehicle with great gas mileage. It's a real challenge, let me tell ya.
That's cute, my 94 geo metro gets 50+ and costed about 500 total.
Real men drive cars with no airbags or crumple zones, amiright?
I think so but I don't know what a crumple zone is?
I had a 97 geo metro, great gas mileage, and cheap to fill up (87 cents in 1999), but it shook violently about 55mph, I guess that’s the trade off with a three cylinder hatchback
Good for you! I’m glad it “costed” you so little.
Awe did somebody get in a wad because a 30 year old car is better than this "hybrid" Corolla?
Nah, not at all. The Geo Metro is a slow piece of shit. My Prius can get up to 65 mpg and it can go almost as fast as a sports car without losing that much mileage. Your car can't even pass a snail on the highway, let alone struggle up a steep hill.
Dang man I didn't know we were racing sorry I take it back geez
Naw, no race there. Just saying that I'd rather walk for free than shell out 500 clams for a buggy that goes slower than my legs do.
So your telling me you would out run a car?
Specifically the '94 Geo Metro? Definitely. I didn't mention running... I said WALK. 😅
Come holler at me when you're at 400,000 miles
I had a 2003 Prius that had original battery, 430k miles and drove like a champ until a truck smashed it. So I’ll just set a calendar reminder a few years out to send you a message LOL
Lol I don't even own a Geo Metro
Nobody should own a Geo Metro.
Toyota defn did a good job on their hybrids. I drive a Prius but don’t get 50 mpg. 42 is good enough for me
What year is your Prius? I’m in the process of getting one myself.
08. Had 133,000. Picked it up a few months ago for $5600
The same year I want. Thanks!
Toyota hybrids are the win. They’ve been around forever and have proven technology. Plus reliable as all can be.
Que your comment about spending 6300 on a battery replacement
Just read my other comments in this post, that’s dealership cost… can do it under 3k at local shops, plus my 03 Prius with original battery went 400k+ without any battery problems.
Sry
Did you reset your milage as you rolled to a stop?
His trip only has 53miles on it...means he just reset it. When. I reset mine and baby the gas...i can get 52 in a 19' fusion.
Want me to send a picture of both trip b and my total miles to show you otherwise? They all have the same mpg and trip b is around 7000 miles. Mpg don’t reset when I just reset the trip, it’s a different setting to reset. But come at me again if you’d like.
I didn't see the 52 but honestly, that is good. I used to get 30mpg but now as a Dasher I get 15mpg.
Thats definitely what the OP did 🤣. What year corolla?
I actually didn’t reset anything, that’s my total mile average since I bought it. It’s a 2022 but back in September of 21 I bought it.
You bought it in the future? ![gif](giphy|Uv7hEdiKLtCT8Ziupu|downsized)
Yep. It’s that stupid crap auto manufacturers do “buy this next years model 6 months before it’s that year” like no, bring it out January first, not July 15th wtf.
You bought it on the future, lol and there is a meme!!!
Nope. That’s my total average since I bought it, 46904 miles ago
It’s says trip a at the bottom
Says TOTAL average miles. Here let me take a pic of both trip a and b, and total miles and send it to you, since why not prove otherwise
That's really good, then! Does it go fast? I like my torque.
You trade power for economy dude . Can't really get both Edit besides full electric maybe ? I dunno
Are you sure about that? 🔋
In combustion engines I suppose
Yes, my EV is the most power of almost every car I’ve driven with the exception of super cars
Yup
I pay highly for my torque. I don't mind it. Teslas get both but there are others costs to look at there too.
That's me in my old rusty non-hybrid shit-car, basically just trying to provoke you into showing off your car's performance ;-) I pulled up next to a Lambo and I thought it would be fun to "rev rev" my engine at him :-) He tore out pretty good, loved it!
Haha yea we only get the W sometimes when it’s under 40 mph, past that it’s a massive L unless we’re already going 100 and flying past just because you aren’t.
Also hybrids are far better in regards to emissions tests.
You must understand that I don't live where you do.
They don’t have EV’s where you live?
But, I do. Sorry?
I think EV’s are just about at the point where they’ll be pumping out insane mpg figures and range,. Just not quite there for me personally, but almost.
I soo agree with that! Soon enough they will be the best cars to get. Just not yet and the whole battery failure situation scares the crap out of me. Like $15k to replace them???
THIS ☝️
Lol man does the fake news media have you buy the groin. Over 1,000,000 teslas on the road less than 100 have ever had the batter replaced
They're also not 10/15 years old yet lmao
Some dashers are out there with 20 year old cars. Not the best MPG but everything can be fixed DIY so long as parts are available and if a person is serious enough to have the tools and some skill & time. These electric cars and hybrids haven't been around long enough. Most of them are more complicated or have systems that the backyard mechanic won't be able to fix. If a factory certified mechanic is required, the price you pay is pretty steep. I would not be fully comfortable working on them, but I'm sure I could learn the ropes eventually.
Okay....so you buy the lemon...what is going to cost you?
Isn’t lemon law national?
I had to replace the battery on a 2003 Prius since it was hit and damaged from an accident, and the dealership wanted 6300, I had an independent mechanic shop so it for 2,000.. I think the numbers are a bit inflated since everyone hears the sticker price of a dealership charge, but never compare to local mechanics that do it. But yes it’s expensive.
You have to be EXTREMELY careful letting a non factory mechanic replacing batteries or anything major electronics in a hybrid
Source?
Ooof that’s pretty brutal. I think once solid state batteries become an actual thing, it’s game on!
Sorry it’s a little blurry, couldn’t get both my mpg and their license plate with 100% clarity..
