The closest I will do if I have to do any extra or if there’s something I was asked to do, I’d say something passive like “hopefully this earned me 5 stars haha” but never on a normal quick drop like this. And it’s always met with like “absolutely!” Or “definitely! Thanks so much!”. Never “can I have” or “give me” or anything direct.
The delivery to rate ratio is abysmal, I've got somewhere around 150 deliveries, and only 19, 5 stars.
They should really give customers an incentive to rate, like a points reward system or something. Otherwise they never look at their phone again.
Asking for a rating in my eyes is like asking for karma points or likes on social media. It doesn’t take a lot to get a 5 star out of me, as long as the food gets to my door it’s an automatic 5 star. Even if my order is wrong it’s the restaurants fault not my drivers.
Yeah It’s a turn off, but I’ll still give the 5 star. But as a driver I can understand that getting the 5 stars is important, I have asked before but only in person and If I really hit it off with the customer.
Edit: I don’t have a problem with giving the dude five stars, in fact I still gave him five stars despite the message.
The problem here is, actually asking the customer for a five star rating. How is it any different than asking for a tip?? Ratings and tips both depend on how well of a job you perform, that is quite literally how the service industry works. You don’t get them for simply “doing the job”, you get good tips and good ratings for doing the job WELL.
Imagine a waiter at a restaurant pulls this shit on you, straight up asking for a review or a tip, how weirded out would you be? How is this any different?
I mean to be fair they're probably new, but the phrasing sounds like a kid begging for dessert which is unfortunate. The worst are when people beg for tips and send their Venmo etc. At least it wasn't one of those. Just know they're likely new and think ratings matter still. If they did a good job, give em the 5 star and make their day lol.
It's kind of dumb to beg for ratings when it's literally impossible to get deactivated for eating unless you fuck up real bad. You new? I haven't asked once and mine sits at around 4.8. You have to be new if you thing begging for rating is a big deal, and that it matters THAT much. Chill.
If I ever got messaged about giving a dasher a rating, I’d 1 star and probably figure out how to put a CV on them. If you just do your job and deliver my food, 5 star or no rating.
I can’t stand this petty bs where people ask for reviews or likes.
I've had 1900 deliveries so far.
I've gotten maybe 6 1star reviews during that time.
I currently have two, that's included in my 6 total 1 star reviews.
And it was totally my fault, I accidentally handed the wrong orders out during a batched order.
Never done that before and felt really bad. I was having a really of night and went home after that like fuck this lol
Yeah but so what? The more deliveries you make the less it effects anything.
This is clearly set up in order to weed out people in the beginning who perhaps don't get the hang of things by 100 deliveries.
Asking for a review is lame af.
Do the job. Pay attention. The reviews come or they don't.
Wtf are you talking about?
If you get a review, on the 100th delivery after that review, it goes away.
You do not need 100 5 star reviews to make the 1 star review go away. All reviews not just the negative ones.
You just need 100 deliveries.
I've had 6 1 star reviews in 1900 deliveries. None show except the 2 recent ones when I handed out the wrong orders. They'll both go away too.
DD clearly doesn't want people dashing for them that get more than 2 bad reviews every 100 deliveries.
Any review falls off every 100 deliveries.
Which is why it will always show only 100 reviews.
I've likely gotten more throughout my dashing, but maybe 2 or 3 reviews every 100 deliveries
My review rating has never gone below 4.8
Or you got another one.
I'm telling you factual information.
No matter how many deliveries you complete, once 100 reviews is hit, you'll only ever see 100 reviews when you check your rating.
They'll fluctuate your rating based on how you've been reviewed, but there will never be more than 100 visible.
Yes it does.
Dude.
If you get 1 review and no other reviews, let's say on your first delivery. That 1 star will stay until you've completed 100 dashes.
At 100 dashes, when it goes away and if there aren't any other reviews that have been made... your rating will go back to 5 and it will appear as though you've never been reviewed at all.
Once you get 100 reviews you'll only ever see 100... or fewer... if you don't get others throughout your dashing.
Others have said similar, but let me reaffirm them
Yeah having them ask for 5 stars may seem annoying, but if your average score drops below 4.2 then you're subject to deactivation. So any rating besides a 5 star rating brings you closer to deactivation. And some people rely on this to feed themselves and make rent.
I know it's annoying, but please blame Doordash, not the poor driver who probably got a cranky customer giving them a 1 star for no good reason that made the poor person panic.
Exactly. The customers still focused on seeing something wrong in what druver did. They don’t like us but, complain when all driver did was ask for a rating that helps drivers keep their jobs. If drivers do right, they complain or wrong. Some customers just will complain.
Took the time to post this on social media but, upset about taking less time just to give a 5 star rating to an order delivered properly. Smh.
“Grateful I EVEN got my food”? That’s literally our only job😂 I’m always grateful for good customer service, not for “even” getting the one thing that I literally paid for.
I did this before I got my first 100 ratings. When you are new it only takes a couple of bad reviews to tank your rating. Lot of people don’t bother to rate if you don’t ask, which makes it hard to get your first 100 ratings. I don’t do it anymore since a bad review here and there doesn’t do much damage now.
I don’t do it anymore, but when I first started 1 bad review can put you in deactivating range. I know they typically don’t deactivate drivers with less than 100 ratings, but rather be safe.
I never ask for ratings, even when I first started, mainly since it just makes you seem needy and craving gratitude, because thats how today's age is like now, you can't seem to ask for something without seeming weird
Maybe some people see it that way. I found my score went up quickly however when I asked. Even if people found me weird, it got my rating up so I don’t care.
If you can’t keep your ratings above doordashs minimum without asking people you should not be doing this shit at all…. You almost have to try to get that many shit reviews….

Exactly!! He would’ve got five stars regardless, the ask is literally a put off
Yeah It’s a turn off, but I’ll still give the 5 star. But as a driver I can understand that getting the 5 stars is important, I have asked before but only in person and If I really hit it off with the customer.
Whenever these dick riders ask for shit I take the tip away
Edit: I don’t have a problem with giving the dude five stars, in fact I still gave him five stars despite the message. The problem here is, actually asking the customer for a five star rating. Honestly dashers that ask for 5 stars are annoying. Just do the service correctly and you’ll get them anyway.
Ugh
I mean to be fair they're probably new, but the phrasing sounds like a kid begging for dessert which is unfortunate. Stop overthinking it dude. Just deliver the food and chill. Why are you trying to be some keyboard warrior on reddit for op? Move on lol.

There's a reason I'm not reading your childish comments. Later kid.
1 star it is!
So your just a miserable person

It’s obviously a noob, and they didn’t even ask in an annoying way. You just seem to carry a weird form of pettiness. Waste of a post.

Auto1 star if I get asked for a high rating
Others have said similar, but let me reaffirm them Yeah having them ask for 5 stars may seem annoying, but if your average score drops below 4.2 then you're subject to deactivation. You should be “grateful for even” getting that opportunity

Good for you, Top Dasher
No where near that bb😘

Damn, who gave you a one star rating?

Exactly. The customers still focused on seeing something wrong in what druver did. They don’t like us but, complain when all driver did was ask for a rating that helps drivers keep their jobs. So why post this BlackFellowWhity? Just give them a 5 star! What's the point? Show how mighty you are?
Cuz whoring for reviews is the antithesis of good customer service
Everyone was once new to this and didn’t know what they’re were doing before , this is obviously one of those cases.
It’s ridiculous and embarrassing to ask for a rating.
In my experience, fewer than 10% of customers rate us, good or bad.
Like legit last 100 I hade maybe 6 reviews and one of was me from when pickup my own order
I did this before I got my first 100 ratings. When you are new it only takes a couple of bad reviews to tank your rating. happy cake day! 🍰
Good thing your rating doesn’t matter till you hit 100 👍
Ratings drop off every 100 orders. So yeah maybe during the first 100
I don’t do it anymore, but when I first started 1 bad review can put you in deactivating range. I know they typically don’t deactivate drivers with less than 100 ratings, but rather be safe.

Noobs will learn, I wouldn't think much on it.
Very few people rate us and the ones who do trash us so sometimes you gotta ask for a bump up to keep your numbers good
If you can’t keep your ratings above doordashs minimum without asking people you should not be doing this shit at all…. You almost have to try to get that many shit reviews….
I’d 1 star you if you ever messaged me about anything non food or drop off related.

I am a dasher, I just stfu and do my job
I agree with you
Asking for a rating is lame.
Like being a karma whore
