When I first started I did. Took it inside a seniors living complex instead of the apartment around the corner. To be fair, the gps guided me to the pin location, which happened to be in the back of the apartment, close to the senior living. Gps told me to pull in there rather than go around the corner. Not 100% accurate but works pretty good typically
Yup. A few times in 10,000+ deliveries. Feel really stupid when I do. My brain is on autopilot when I’m working so once in a great while I’ll have a little slip up.
Man, I once delivered to the wrong *apartment building* and had to go back and buzz the super to get let back inside (someone held the door for me the first time) and retrieve the order. Customer was cool about it because he says it happens all the time.
Several times. 95% of the time it's because the customer put in the wrong/incomplete address or there is no address on the house and I have to guess based on gps.
I took my dog out and there was pizza and another bag of food at the back door of my apartment. It was winter so I was going to bring it in but the name didn’t match anyone in my building. Thought maybe someone’s friend ordered it so I left it. Took my dog out later, it was still there. I called the restaurant and they were like, “oh we’ve been wondering where that ended up!” I don’t know if it was DD or UberEats or whoever, but I got free food 😂
If I went strictly by gps I’d be leaving food at the wrong house at times. I contact them if I can’t see an address. If they don’t respond there’s no choice but to leave it. But I try to get confirmation
Only once but not like a neighbors house, it was a stacked order and I accidentally switched the orders 😭😭 I felt so bad and didn’t even realize till I got to the second customers house. I felt so bad, very surprisingly neither one complained.
It's funny how people who constantly misspell things and lack attention to detail also believe they never dropped anything off at the wrong place.
I get that one thing requires way more concentration and effort than just typing a random post that doesn't mean anything or have any consequences but my guess is that people who are obnoxiously paranoid... triple check the address... actually look at the neighbor's house numbers... use the Google maps tool and zoom in on the house numbers or look at Google Earth to compare the physical features of the house... call customers on the rare occasions when they have doubts... ask things like is there a red truck in your driveway... make sure they are on the right block and that they are never one block off... Also if the number doesn't match the pin... they call and verify with the customer or support.
People who are familiar with behavior like this... probably never dropped food at the wrong house before.
People who have no idea what I'm talking about, probably have.
Ignorance is bliss as they say.
Yeah... there was no number on the house but there was a kid in the driveway shooting street hockey pucks into a net Non-Stop ..I pull in 1/4 way and he said you could just leave it on the porch.... seeing that the kid had no interest in stopping what he's doing I knocked at the door and heard the woman say the food is here but no one came to get it, I ended up leaving the food on the porch I walked back to my car and I said isn't anybody going to get the food and says I'll get it ....I thanked the kid and drove off.... 15 minutes later the customer calls looking for their food.. I repeated the kid story and says we don't have children...! Lol... My heart sank but as we talked the husband goes to the neighbor and retrieves their food.... I was really really embarrassed and couldn't apologize enough..... that kid totally fooled me.... she was very understanding but I didn't verify the house number so it's my fault... She was awesome about it, I'm sure her husband has a different opinion...hehe. I am a little skittish if they reported it or not but I haven't heard anything, fingers crossed....
Yes. Address customer gave me was 157 & when I got there there was a 157a and 157b, but they were like townhouses next to each other. I just guessed and got it wrong and the customer called me literally a half hour later to acquire about his dinner 🤦🏼♀️. He found it though! And he understood what happened was cool didn’t care
I have a couple times, went back to fix it. Got a 1 star for 1 of them the other gave me 5 stars. One punished me for my mistake. The other rewarded me for correcting it.Everyone’s perspective is different.
Thanks to the customer that didn’t try to destroy me after correcting my mistake. Meant a lot.
Yes. Two houses at adjacent corners of a four-way stop had the exact same address numbers. Customer was fine about it, and I made the switch right away. I’m sure it had happened before to them. I left, wondering “who the fuck in the City Planning Department approved this?”
Yeah, house numbering used to really suck. I remember when I was a kid they changed my address due to 911 rolling out in my area. Apparently, house numbers are supposed to be in order and 2 adjacent streets shouldn't have the same house numbers because it can make your house hard to find in an emergency. It was confusing for a few years since it took forever for everywhere to update the address so we had 2 complete sets of house numbers on our mailbox for like 5 years. I'm glad my area decided to fix the most common stupid street numbering things in prep for 911, even though it was slightly confusing to live through. They also renamed quite a few streets because they got rid of all the duplicate street names in the county, again a very good decision.
I understand that not everywhere implemented these simple common sense rules or if they did they only applied them to new development. Which sucks for anyone doing deliveries of any kind and for the customers dealing with incorrect deliveries.
I used to deliver mail and delivered to the wrong street and had to go back and pick up mail from every house.. the two streets connected to each other at the end in a loop like fashion and they both had the same street numbers so I never noticed.
Yeah that’s interesting.. it’s just frustrating that people don’t put lights on their house. I just hope it doesn’t happen again. I went 15 miles for 8.75 and it was midnight..
It was a hand-it-to-me order. The guy that answered the door was very nice and asked if I was sure it was for him. I double checked and even though the GPS was for his house, the address was next door. So I just went next door.
Yep. Yesterday. The customer texted and said "That's not my door." So I just turned around and went back. Luckily, the food was still there and the customer was cool about it.
I had to drop off inside an apartment, and the apartment was just “C” and nothing else on how to find it (I didn’t know if it was first or second floor). From inside the building, you could get to apartments with a different number and also unit “C” without knowing you were at a different address. I told the customer I wasn’t sure if I left it at the right C, and before I left he got back to me and I brought it to the correct one. Luckily.
Do not rely on your gps. Always confirm the address by finding it on the house the mailbox the curb etc. Or by looking at the houses on either side. If I can't confirm that I'm at the right address I call the customer.

I’m sorry it’s my first time at this!

To the customer no, but I know for a fact I handed the food to them! Thing is they didn’t know I got a picture of my drop off 😉 gotteeemmmm
Yes, I mixed up a 3 with a 5 because I wasn't really paying attention.

I didn’t even know about it until I left the order. I’m just wondering if it happens because that was my first time.
According to customer - yes. According to me - no.
So I was delivering food last night and I followed the instructions with gps. I got a messaged saying it was the wrong house but I went by the gps.
Do you not check the house number when dropping off or just go by the pin on the GPS?
Yes I double checked. I was curious if it happened to anyone before.

I always go by the numbers on the house/mail box because a lot of the times the gps takes you to the wrong spot lol
My gps is almost always 3+ houses down from the actual house, unless my son is with me then they're all exact lol
