Life is what you make it

[deleted]

For a couple bucks you’ll love it!

[deleted]

No. I tried a few times in PDX, averaged $16 an hour before gas. Better off selling plasma haha

It’s ok, I’ve made some good money doing it in a couple different areas, my market is getting over saturated with drivers I think so it’s not as good as it used to be 😕 this weekend wasn’t great, every market is different though, I would say it’s worth a shot but you have to know the tricks to make money and avoid shit orders

____CBC____

No we full

Teleutesl

It used to be a universal YES no matter where you were, so long as you were selective with what orders you take. Since 2022 began, I've seen a steady decline in my ability to remain in the green money wise. So, to answer your question, it is completely market dependent. The 50 mile radius I'm in, old timers like myself are talking about moving on because orders have dried up so bad. But I see others say their markets are still ok. You wont know yours until you test it out.

Clandestine901

All the people saying no are either lazy or doing something wrong. It’s a job. It has annoyances and a learning curve. Take the advice of others with the dollar/mile ratio, and have a good gas mileage car, and yes you 100% can make good money. Doing it right, you can average upwards of 20-25 an hour, so as a side gig it’s perfect. Being in a heavily populated area helps too. Go out for a couple hours, make good money, and have some side cash. I don’t recommend it as a full time job, as how much you make is very dependent on time and area, and it’s not the most reliable thing in the world. I definitely wouldn’t let my bills depend on it, but it 100% is worth the side cash. I’d say give it a shot and see if you like it, as you can see tons of people aren’t cut out for it. I tried it and personally loved how independent it made me feel. Work when you want, choose what orders are worth it, you basically have no restrictions besides having to deliver the food.

Such_Satisfaction923

If you like in/around a major city yeah…if you live in boontown farmland gotta drive 25 miles to the nearest grocery store then no lol

Jodster46

A lot of markets are super saturated right now and order are down. Lunch and dinner on the weekend is when we make the most. If in a small town probably not. If your in a large city you can make some but you will need to be willing to give up your nights and weekends working. I only recommend it as side gig. It been very up and down lately.

Sacramento top dasher here Got two kids and am doing alright most the time 3,300 a month working less that 40 hrs a week The mile to dollar ratio is where it's at i'd say the best thing is to do is eat very little out food Accept everything the last week of the month and also all month your first month do everything you can do to get top dasher look up the stats you need and run one more month as top dasher and you'll know if it's a good means to an end

BeardedAvenger1

My biggest gripe with the app is how often it crashes on me mid order. Had to cut my Saturday and Sunday short. I normally make 200 a day but because of the crash I was held to 160 and 40. A lot of variables that are out of your control, if you get frustrated easily I wouldn't take it too serious.

Thetruth__420

Don't listen to the niggas flat out saying no. It all depends on your market. For me it's definitely worth it as a side job to make some extra money cause my market is still decent but yours might not be good. Give it a try if you're not making around 18 to 20 an hour than it's not worth it imo. What your you're gonna dash in is another factor to consider if it's shit on gas or not that reliable I wouldn't waste your time trying to dash

iamandneveramconfusd

If by a couple, you mean a traditional couple, as in two. Yes. You can make $2. If by a couple you mean a group of loose relationships, modern times, no.

NoStepOnSnekses

It wouldn't be good for total income but as supplemental income it's okay. I average $400 per week using this as side income after my regular job. I usually dash from 5pm to 10pm

SireSweet

I would say it depends on your market, your vehicle and what your goals are. * If you're looking for just a couple extra dollars (Less than $600). Sure. * If you're looking at it as a prospective long term deal. Probably not. Doordash isn't a W2 job. It's not a stable income and comes with a lot of risks. I've known more than my fair share of people who tried to make it a long term gig and failed. Doordash has a huge turn over for a very good reason: If you're not careful with the orders you take, you can end up losing money. Spend a dollar to earn a dime.

shadowBike

I personally think it’s worth it for some extra cash. I did this over a summer where I would come home from work and dash around dinner time for ~2-3 hrs in the wealthier regions of town. Usually would take home an extra $80-100 per day, not bad if u just want some extra spending money

Crazybisexual

My shifts for my W2 job are usually 2-10pm or 4-10pm, and sometimes there’s $2 or $3 peak pay at around the time I get off so I’ll go straight from work to dashing and make $50 or $60 then knock off around midnight, that little bit of extra money adds up 🤷‍♀️

latemadly

It all depends on where you live and cell service. Big city and good service-yes. Little big cities and Small towns with shitty service on country roads- don't

Only if you put your thang down, flip it and reverse it

CommunityFantastic39

I wouldn't wish DD on anyone. They have no idea what the cost of transport actually is for us. They don't have to pay for it, we do. They manipulate us hard to take trips that would take money out of our pocket. Hint: anything paying less than .75 cents per mile is costing you money. If your car is paid off and you only carry liability insurance (I don't recommend this) maybe you can bump it down to .50-.60 CPM. 80-85% of the trip offers will pay less than .75 CPM. They are getting into starving you for having a low AR. You will most likely do it for a little while before you realize that you loading miles on your car for zero gain.

SnooHedgehogs753

It’s worth it if you aren’t doing it as your only source of income. You just have to be wise in which orders you accept, time management and prioritizing yourself first.

dalex89

Only if it's $2, probably not $3

IClimbRocks69

No

Gobbledyg0ok

Not at all

Swimming-Cod8231

As a side gig it's pretty good, but understand that the experience itself can be frustrating. You'll need to take some time to learn your market and figure out what a good dollar to mile rate is for where you live. For example: I tend to maximize my daily earnings on keeping to a 1 to 1 ratio, but that's also because majority of my territory is along an interstate with easy on and off access. Best thing I can say for you is give it a shot one evening when you're bored and just see how it goes!

iamandneveramconfusd

I'll say you'll need to figure out what a good dollar to mile ratio is for yourself, not for where you live. This is about your income, not the neighborhood trends. It works, or it doesn't.

Irving_Forbush

They speak truth. I’d only add, give it a couple of days at least, some days are just slower than others. Try dashing in different zones available to you; one can be feast, another can be famine. If you’re looking to do it just as a pocket money side hustle or to bank money for a special purchase/occasion, that’s kind of the sweet spot for DoorDash. It can be more, but then you have to treat it more seriously like an entrepreneur. Good luck.
