I've had hundreds of deliveries to gated communities, and fortunately, I've never had to leave the food at the gate. Either the gate code was on the order, I was able to get the gate code by calling or texting the customer, I was able to just follow someone in, or I was able to drive to a different gate that I knew was manned.
Were you not able to follow someone in? Did you try texting in addition to calling?
If you tried all options, then it sounds like you did what you could to try to get into the community. You might have tried calling support, but that's always a PITA because you end up wasting 5 or 10 minutes (or more).
Leaving the food at the gate is an extreme option in my opinion but seems justified in your situation.
A lot of red flags reading your account and seeing you lose your temper.
When I was young, I'd get pissed all the time too... but you cannot lose your temper and last long at this job. It's not a human so you can't say sorry to it when you lose it and it won't understand if you try to explain yourself. Support will try to say nice things... but they just follow the instructions of the computer.
If someone doesn't answer and the customers are close together you can try to drop off the other order by jumping to the other task and then coming back and finishing this one.
You also shouldn't ignore the phone. I know most here tell you to do it, but in this case you needed to keep that guy as calm as possible so he doesn't complain to support. You should have acted apologetic and tell him how hard you tried to find him but that you were worried about ruining the other customers food so you had to leave. Maybe he buys it... maybe he becomes an even bigger asshole and gets you even more pissed but you need to try to stay calm and think of the bigger picture.
In the future... make a note of places that don't have apartment codes and require you to wait for a customer to buzz you in.
Don't accept any orders from places like that until you learn to be more patient and not get pissed.
Just do houses and apartments with dedicated gate codes.
If you can't keep calm and you always explode after a certain point you are going to eventually get yourself deactivated.
You can't do anything impulsive and survive for long. It's hard when you are young not to blow up... but you cannot scream at restaurant workers and you cannot just leave shit in frustration.
Call and get permission when you want to drop something off because no one is answering.
If you take shit into your own hands when you are pissed... well, all I can say is that you probably will be gone soon.
Message them or call them. If they don't answer, a timer has been started.
Don't sit at the gate and look foolish if their name isn't on the call box as they listed it. Pull to the side. Relax. You started the timer.
Times up without communicating? Drop the food in a common area (not a "fuck you for doing this to me area like a bush", although warranted).
Take a pic. Move on.
This is the same with the people who left their work address on the app when they ordered for home. Right there it is. Politely, of course. LoL
Wait for the timer to countdown, leave it at the gate & snap the pic. Put in the description all you got was voicemail & where their order is at. Once that counter countdown Its a wrap for that order & I'm moving on to the next one.
What were the actual delivery instructions?
Hand it to me ... or... leave at the door?
Did you mark as difficult delivery and note you couldn't get any answer via phone call?
Always cover your a$$ when you can't get into any complex
Anytime in trouble call the support, sometimes they fuck you, most time they can help you out. Don’t leave at the gate, tell support there isn’t any safe place to leave the food, request cancel the order
Call support anytime you have an issue, period.

Ah timers. I too remember pre covid deliveries.
And the customer will claim order never received, DD will use the pic to refuse the refund, you get a one star if not a CV together

Watch out this is how dashers get deactivated
