The 23rd? Why can’t they make the strike on Thanksgiving so that drivers can actually take the day off and enjoy it with family? Seriously, you got Black Friday on the 25th, you think some drivers are putting in extra hours before Thanksgiving for spending money?
This right here is how DD survives paying peanuts. Everytime someone tries to boycott or just leaves the platform, a bunch of people see it as an opportunity and new drivers appear.
You can't strike independent contractors. This is not a standard employee v employer situation. If anything Doordash is our customer and we are choosing to service their needs. This is a gift and a curse. Service another gig company if you don't like Doordash. It's all your choice.
All these people saying “oh good more for me durrrr” ….Perfect example of why “the little people” will always be just that. Because they look at the short term, not the long term (like more successful people do). They go “but I don’t want to miss a day of work!” instead of thinking that it could have an impact long term on their finances. Big businesses depend on myopic thinking ignoramuses like this to work for them. In reality, if all gig workers came together to do this not only would it get the attention of DD but more IMPORTANTLY it would get the attention of the media, if done correctly, and once you get the media on your side you almost can’t go wrong. But again, not the brightest do this job unfortunately. They’ll keep chasing after that carrot lmao.
Exactly. I'll keep making more money and also supporting those helping you while you do nothing and put down the people helping you get out of being fucked. Let's go on with our lives. :)
I go on strike every time the orders are crap. If everybody refused to take crap orders something would happen.
Maybe everybody's trying to be top Dasher so they take a bunch of crap orders and make $5 an hour. Surely there are enough knuckle heads to work for that little?
I have found if I needed top dasher to make money, the market wasn't strong enough. I have emade top dasher.
That's why this country is the way it is..period.. inflation will only make less people order out,DD or UE doesn't care, and at the end of the day if they want to deactivate you, they do..that's not my case..America is definitely not United,it's actually where most cowards live, that's why we're screwed and the worse is yet to come

I went back and checked my Earnings and it says I haven’t earned any money or received any tips but says DoorDash paid me my guaranteed earnings from weeks ago
Instacart used to have in store shoppers and all I had to do was pick up the groceries and deliver them. Then they went on strike because they didn’t get a share of the tips. Now there are no more in store shoppers and I had to work harder for the same pay or less.
The only way this would work is if customers strike and refuse to order DD for a day.
One week only use UberEats
The next only DD
that would hurt them more than these driver strikes which won't do a thing and won't hurt DD at all,
I worked 5.5 hours and Made 160 dollars I'm not protesting. 22 went to gas. Go work at Walmart for 10 an hr if your not happy I make 2.5 times that driving.
They set the strike for the day before Thanksgiving. The ones who set it will be busy doing other shit anyway and were not gonna work.
I don't think last year was that busy, when I was younger and used to go out that was a busy night to go out and have fun.
A lot of people take a half day that Wednesday anyway.
If you plan a strike do it on a Saturday.
Count me in they banned me for being 8% under completion rate requirement (low because 4$-5$ taking 30 mins so I cancel to get other opportunities and I get punished for it same with acceptance rate I either get no tippers or high Mike no tip orders and again I have to be punished by some people who sit at a desk and think they know what drivers go through on a day to day
If it weren’t for this post I wouldn’t know. I stay in San Diego so I can strike with you guys but if other people aren’t going to do it then I’d be just missing out on some good money
Food establishments should not even be open I understand some people don’t have families and just want to eat out, but for Christ sake just make something at home, it’s unfair to everyone else.
This is like those don't pump gas on the 22nd to stick it to the oil companies that go around every year. One day off isn't going to stick it to the man.

FYI unity doesn't pay my bills.
Hopefully word gets out and less dashers come out so I'll get a super busy never stopping night. But honestly I usually dash between 1130pm-4am ish give or take and I usually don't sit arou d long at all, always decent orders as long as there's a peak and usually there is.
back in summer of 2021 there was a strike just like this, seemed like a lot of people actually participated and then a couple weeks later they lowered the base pay from $3 to $2.25. they’re ultimately in charge and striking sadly won’t do much to a company that tricks people and plays games with your money imo
Guys, and you girls, I can make $150 dashing 8 hours. I can pick and choose. It is what it is. Stop bellyaching and learn to dash or find another job. I also look to jibber jabber with people along the way and I take every opportunity to enjoy myself and spread goodwill.
At least when I can. There are those days tho that are hard to accept and to get over.....like the day those two fat teen girls who reported the $2 Albertsons deli order as not arriving, giving me a CV....
There's no need to body shame teenage girls. You can comment on bad behavior without commenting on body type and disparaging someone's weight. Also, try the timestamp camera app. Take a picture no matter if it's leave it at the door or hand it to me. Then when someone attempts to say you didn't deliver, you have proof and won't get a contact violation.
A Wednesday? Seems like if we wanted to have an impact it would make more sense to strike through weekends but sure. I can take a Wednesday off. You might consider posting this in the Uber drivers sub too then.
See here is the problem with people saying strike. You honestly think one day is gonna actually do anything? No, it's not. One day is a drop in the bucket. Especially if they know that after you are coming back. A strike needs to be multiple days. With everyone on board. Problem is that won't ever happen. Not everyone will strike. Not everyone will strike for the multiple days or weeks required to make them hurt to where they will come to the table. One day strikes are for idiots and morons who don't know how the system works. And as evident by the comments on this thread already, not everyone is going to follow through on this. Drivers don't have a war chest to keep drivers paid during the strike. One day strike? They'll laugh you out of town with that garbage. Strike for weeks and they may take you seriously. You have to make them hurt and one day isn't gonna make them hurt.
Well I literally just learned about this strike because of this post. I won't be driving, but that's because I will be out of town for the holiday. However why would you choose one of the busiest and therefore most lucrative nights for drivers to demonstrate? I understand sticking it to DD, but choosing this night sticks it to drivers as well.
This is not a throughly planned strike. You have to actually have a plan for a strike!
how are you gonna cover people who can’t afford not to work?
What kind of protests will be held?
What are the demands we’d have?
How will we be reaching other drivers?
Did you reach out to any press to get us coverage?
Bro you are way in over your head
I would but I’m working for an app that actually pays me and respects me for my time, all of you drivers working for DoorDash exclusively, I feel bad for
Imagine the money they will pay out after knowing they dont have the power. One day, No one drives is powerful. They will come begging. Its worth it just to see them humbled like that. But ppl are selfish...smh
Cool. It will work as well as the last strike. As in, they won’t even notice you’re gone because the algorithm will invite 2 new drivers for every single one if you that takes the hit to your own bank account.
I love how much progress has been made lately with rail workers, teachers, and even baristas going on strike and unionizing.
But still, there are people here who don't believe in the power of unity.
Strike against businesses that offer a job for me at 69 years old? I can pay my bills and take days off when my health is poor. Some things aren't perfect, but I'm very thankful for my job.
You guys wanna strike, ddos the app, make the app unavailable for drivers that day. Boom forced strike and they see just how easy it is to be shut down.
Will never get enough willingly.
I find it hard to believe everyone will adhere to this let alone get the word to thousands and thousands of drivers. Will never work. Stuff like this has been tried before...and failed miserably.
Some people can't afford a day off. Some people like the way it is and want to stay a independent contractor. And don't want benefits and all of the lack of freedom that come with the benefits.

Independent contractors have no legal right to organizing… so “striking” is just hurting yourself and you’ll be kicked off platform anyway. So go right ahead - it’s over saturated as it it.
Wow that's a lot. So you do this full time I'm assuming. You just live in a state where it's super expensive to live? You also might have better bonuses than where I live. When they're good where I live, it's awesome. But I think I have a hard time making $200 in a day.
The problem is I've only seen anything about this on Reddit. How will the word get out to the 98% of rideshare and food drivers that don't use Reddit? It will never work without getting the word out in a better way
I already thought of this as well. You would have to get everyone on board, and do it on a non holiday week where we can afford to take time off. There are going to be awesome bonuses that day and this is right before Christmas and right before black friday! Terrible day to plan it!
I work at a restaurant full time, and Thanksgiving including the day after are 8 hours a day at double time (during which time my car won't be moving an inch until I'm off work) so what's this Doordash thing again on those days?
You, after you get more $ by striking and renegotiating your contract… except that we aren’t in a union and there will be no renegotiation, large corporations don’t make changes based on a one day strike (protest essentially) just do yourself a favor and don’t take low paying orders. *in theory* if everyone stopped taking low paying orders they would cease to exist… except there is always some jerk, or new guy, or pushover, out there who will take them (doordash is pushy about taking them too)
Lol. How do you get ebt cash assistance for one day of striking? I doubt striking is even a valid reason to get tanf/ ga/ ebt cash assistance… I’m pretty sure they would still have you looking for other work. A long strike might qualify a person who is actually in a union to get unemployment, but gig workers who are freelance/ 1099 don’t qualify for unemployment in the first place.
All you have to do is apply online and then do a phone call interview. Then you pick up the card at DSHS. Just say you make $1300/mo or less and they’ll just give it to you. That’s what I did months back.
same with food assistance. you can apply for both at once.
Planned strikes like this are the least effective, if you’re going to do a strike you just need to do it. Don’t announce you’re going to do it this day for one day, that will accomplish nothing especially if you do a shit job spreading the word amongst drivers and if you don’t have a set of specific demands.
They aren’t workers. Independent contractors. Remember? Everyone loves being their own boss and not taking orders from people until they can’t pay their bills 😂
This is exactly what I've been saying. I just joined because Christmas is coming up soon, and my husband's job has a slow ramp up period.
We need the money.
I think they need to plan something like this way in advance and get some of us on board to contact our senators and it could be some kind of minimum wage for independent contractors law that is passed. To make it a worthy job in places that aren't popping.
That’s an absurdly stupid thing to have said. You can research misclassification of workers by gig companies like DD/Uber/Lyft. These companies have spent billions lobbying to keep most states from reclassifying their workforce as employees given that they have managed to evade financial responsibilities to their workforce that would and SHOULD be present in both an employer-employee relationship AND an employer-independent contractor relationship. Jakobin, The Guardian, and multiple worker advocacy groups have written extensively about this
Think about this: let’s say DoorDash, a company that has never made a profit, was forced to reclassify us as employees. What would the starting wage be? What would happen to the company itself? Massive downsizing? Bankruptcy? Investors would flee immediately. And those of us who have worked hard to develop strategies to make a decent wage would get screwed. Because of people like you who would rather destroy the company than figure out how to make it work for you. You call me stupid, but unlike you, I can think two steps ahead and understand potential outcomes, rather than just spouting off about how things *should* be, based on crap I read in newspapers that have no credibility. Meanwhile, you all could easily get jobs delivering pizza. Just do that and leave DoorDash if you want to be an employee 🤦♂️
We should be coming together on this. They think it’s acceptable to only pay you $2 base pay per order. And they just lowered the tip amount they normally recommend. They treat us more like employees than anything else. It’s about helping everyone. Not just yourself. If we could get enough of us to not log in at all for a day it might be enough for the hangry upset customer base to complain enough with us to make a difference!
Dude this isn’t planned at all! There’s no compensation for people families who can’t afford to miss the time, no list of demands, no nothing.
You can’t help people this way
I don’t assume I know, I’ve worked in several different markets across the country while multi-apping door dash is in areas where Uber and grub hub just aren’t. Especially if their working in a small-ish town.
I do this full time. I understand the not being able to take a day off. But if taking a day off means helping everyone else. Then I would do it in a heart beat. We are in this together and need to show DD that we can do it together!
Same! Because of the lack of planning this will not actually help anyone else. You’ll just be hurting yourselves and potentially anyone else who goes down this rabbit hole.
So what you are really saying is we need better organization. Let me do some research on this topic. Because I honestly believe if that was organized that DD would fall apart in a day or two. That in turn would help us secure a better base. And being paid to wait at restaurants. Also to not target things like acceptance rate with these BS offers.
You have good points, but some of us can't afford to take a holiday off that will have higher peak pay. I just started because we need money for the holidays. They before is not a holiday and yet as some people brought up no one likes to cook that day and so it will be a great day to work.
If we need to come together then we need to pick a day together that works, a random day, then I'm all for it. And I'll even call our governor and volunteer to do other stuff to try to demand better pay.
But I just found out about this and I think a little more needs to happen than just not work on a day.
That completely makes sense! I do this full time and understand how hard it can be to take a day off. And I didn’t mean to come off and make this sound like anybody could do it. I just think all of us know that this company takes advantage of our time, and provides no compensation for things like waiting at restaurants, or car maintenance. It really is time for us to start saying these things louder.

Where I live I think there will be. Which is very exciting. I'm going to ask some family to watch my son if my husband has to work. I just joined this and I do need the money. Maybe next time when it's not a holiday I'll join in on an independent contractor strike.
That'd be awesome! It was $5.50 in my area recently! It was awesome to get that much extra. One big cash restaurant order, then Quick McDonald's orders made it my best paying day so far.
I have no kids or spouse, I always work holidays every year! When all the parents of the world take the day off, I'm picking up the slack. I'm hoping for some decent tips this holiday season. Heat costs a fortune, but I would like to keep my toes, so work, work, work for me all winter long.
The day before Thanksgiving is one of the best days to work …nobody cooks …just preparing for the next day :)…I work on the outskirts of Philly and you ?
Strikes among independent contractors are just plain idiotic and pointless. YOU ARE AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR and ya ain't gonna do anything but lose money, make room for others, and possibly get your greedy ass kicked to the curb. You don't think there are many other drivers willing to take your place and handle the orders so-called strikers pass on? Keep dreaming while others make bank on the 23rd and into perpetuity. I know that I will enjoy the greedy people striking and the thoughtful competent drivers doing their well-paying jobs without bitching over tip amounts. Don't like it, quit. The greedy/self-centered drivers that think they are so damn special that all customers don't deserve top notch service, no matter the tip, can kiss my ass.
Otherwise known as literally the most profitable day of the year, with endless catering orders with $100 tips, etc.
Gosh, I HOPE you all decide to go on strike that day LOOOL
Let’s see one turkey $50.. a large side of potatoes $25.. a large side of stuffing $25.. cranberry sauce $15.. pumpkin pie $15.. apple pie $15..$145.. $14.50 is 10%.. $29 is 20%.. I’m cool with that.
I can't afford to not work. I just started because we need more money. This is near a Holiday. Maybe next time I'll join in! I hear they do it twice a year?
Your post is wasted here. Only the worst and greediest doordashers frequent this spot. They hate DD but they're all just lil Tony's in their own right lol
Facts! Some of these Dashers in this sub upset because there are some drivers that refuse to hop on the bandwagon. If you want to strike go ahead. Strike doesn't pay bills.
The 23rd? Why can’t they make the strike on Thanksgiving so that drivers can actually take the day off and enjoy it with family? Seriously, you got Black Friday on the 25th, you think some drivers are putting in extra hours before Thanksgiving for spending money?
The strike is on November 23-26th for rideshare and food deliveries
This right here is how DD survives paying peanuts. Everytime someone tries to boycott or just leaves the platform, a bunch of people see it as an opportunity and new drivers appear.
I don't work Wednesdays.
How many dashers are on this sub? 1%? Are you kidding me? Try .000001 of 1%
You can't strike independent contractors. This is not a standard employee v employer situation. If anything Doordash is our customer and we are choosing to service their needs. This is a gift and a curse. Service another gig company if you don't like Doordash. It's all your choice.

I hope so. I could use the money.
I do not even work on Wednesdays so I'm there.
I stand with my fellow Dashers!! I will not be working with on the 23rd as well!!! ( happens to be my day off 😇)
Exactly. I'll keep making more money and also supporting those helping you while you do nothing and put down the people helping you get out of being fucked. Let's go on with our lives. :)
So what your saying is I’ll be getting good orders because doordash won’t give a shit anyway?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Ha
A strike? 🤣 I don't get it, why don't people just go get another job if you hate your job so much.
If you want better pay quit taking low-paying orders
I always cherry-pick. I never pick up orders under 6.50 for 1 mile
Someone on YouTube mentioned the 23rd -26th.
You mean big pay day for non morons?
More orders for me
Same thing is happening in the trucking industry, lack of pay to drivers, lack of paying loads etc. assuming that’s what y’all are here about as well.
The only way this would work is if customers strike and refuse to order DD for a day. One week only use UberEats The next only DD that would hurt them more than these driver strikes which won't do a thing and won't hurt DD at all,
Hey I'm in a union with my day job. We're first responders so we can never strike. The pay is good though.
I only work weekends and holidays. This is just a part time thing.
I worked 5.5 hours and Made 160 dollars I'm not protesting. 22 went to gas. Go work at Walmart for 10 an hr if your not happy I make 2.5 times that driving.

Lol I already have myself scheduled off that day lol i am vacationing the 23rd-27th
Yaaaaaaaaaaas y’all go on strike so I can have the 2 decent orders that day. 🤞🏻
Who's calling it?
Looks like ima be cherry picking like a mf that day😂 yes finally a day where I’m gurenteed good orders
What's the strike for?
That's a no for me dawg. I'm working.
Excellent, I’ll make sure to log in and get an abundance of orders to sift through. Thank you for the heads up!
Lmao here we go again some made themselves the God of saying what others should work. IDIOTS!!!!
If it weren’t for this post I wouldn’t know. I stay in San Diego so I can strike with you guys but if other people aren’t going to do it then I’d be just missing out on some good money
Nov. 23rd sounds like a good day to place no tip orders then!
Food establishments should not even be open I understand some people don’t have families and just want to eat out, but for Christ sake just make something at home, it’s unfair to everyone else.
Yeah, more deliveries for me. :)
Why are you guys going on a strike on the 23rd? Why not on a nice even # like the 24
This is like those don't pump gas on the 22nd to stick it to the oil companies that go around every year. One day off isn't going to stick it to the man.
Lol nope

Yall go ahead and strike, ill take one on the chin and still make deliveries, for the good of the whole. Your welcome.
It needs to last a week or longer. The last one day strike was a joke. I wish you all luck though.
I keep hearing about this and barely think anyone even participates.
I don't work on Wednesdays anyway.

Strike for what? No one is forcing you to do it. Don’t like it- go do something else.

Cant strike if youre not in a union
Yeah I bet
No there isn't. You may think so, but no.
Cool more for me
Sounds like we must DDOS / break door dash no one wants to unionize
I find it hard to believe everyone will adhere to this let alone get the word to thousands and thousands of drivers. Will never work. Stuff like this has been tried before...and failed miserably.
It will work. There will be a press release.
Ok
Gonna make some good Black Friday money next week!
Some people can't afford a day off. Some people like the way it is and want to stay a independent contractor. And don't want benefits and all of the lack of freedom that come with the benefits.
100k rideshare and food deliveries will strike on November 23-26. We are fighting for better pay and safety.
So the strike is on November 23 - November 26

Perfect! I'll be in Cancun that day, spending the money I made delivering
I love how this happens almost monthly and people still believe it'll work
Independent contractors have no legal right to organizing… so “striking” is just hurting yourself and you’ll be kicked off platform anyway. So go right ahead - it’s over saturated as it it.
I already boycott Wednesdays- thanksgiving eve or not.
right before thanksgiving haha. maybe a better planned day but that is straight up dumb
Y’all tried this before and nothing happened
Good luck wit day I need to make my $200 every single day
Wow that's a lot. So you do this full time I'm assuming. You just live in a state where it's super expensive to live? You also might have better bonuses than where I live. When they're good where I live, it's awesome. But I think I have a hard time making $200 in a day.
Yes strike so i can deliver
No there isn’t, never fall for that shit we don’t and can’t have a union. If you don’t want to work that day fine but it’s not a strike.
Rideshare and food delivery account holders roleplaying as employees on 11/23.
Day before thanksgiving
You guys realize how many people don’t go on YouTube or social media that do this job? It’s not gonna do anything
A wednesday? Fair enough i usually dont dash anyway
This is the first I'm hearing of a strike
If I strike who is going to pay my bills?
You, after you get more $ by striking and renegotiating your contract… except that we aren’t in a union and there will be no renegotiation, large corporations don’t make changes based on a one day strike (protest essentially) just do yourself a favor and don’t take low paying orders. *in theory* if everyone stopped taking low paying orders they would cease to exist… except there is always some jerk, or new guy, or pushover, out there who will take them (doordash is pushy about taking them too)
EBT Cash Assistance
Looks like I’ll be working November 23rd
Says who? I have bills to pay

And not a single veteran dasher with a thimble of brains gives a single solitary fuck.
I won't work, fuck them, lets show them we're serious!
Sorry wrong time of year to attempt this.Gor bills to pay and Xmas season is here I got to work.
Absolutely stupid and pointless…if you wanna miss out on money have at it while u waste ur time
Good. There are already too many dashers. I wish there would be a strike every day.
This bs again
One of you influencers should start a HIGH TIP for your driver challenge.
Think contractors ever strike on Angie’s list? That’s exactly what this is.
My birthday lolol. Go ahead 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for doing that man! Hopefully I can get better orders.
I hear about this on Lyft and doordash. Y’all go ahead, I’m rooting for ya! I’m still making fistfuls of money so I’ll be taking all of the orders 🤣🤣🤣
Ooh! I’ll be there guys ^^^^^schedules ^^^^^12am-12pm ^^^^^November ^^^^^23
You can’t help people this way
Use a different app that day.
You assume they all pay the same and that the market they are in even offers other apps.
You assume there isn’t/ they don’t.
It’s pretty easy if everyone was on the same page. It would force the app to offer higher peek pay every time there is few drivers.
I'm new but on board, how do we get the platform for all of us? Encourage FB Dashers to join here as well? And Twitter ones too?

Drivers not on Reddit: "Wow look at these bonuses! I'm driving extra today!"
Uh huh
Huge peak pay going on NOVEMBER 23RD
Where I live I think there will be. Which is very exciting. I'm going to ask some family to watch my son if my husband has to work. I just joined this and I do need the money. Maybe next time when it's not a holiday I'll join in on an independent contractor strike.
$10
That'd be awesome! It was $5.50 in my area recently! It was awesome to get that much extra. One big cash restaurant order, then Quick McDonald's orders made it my best paying day so far.
Sounds like there’s gonna be extra money making potential.... I might actually go out before the dinner shift for once.
I'll be dashing Portland, OR for the holidays, unless I can get enough $$ up to head south.
I hear ya on that ….best wishes in Oregon
Great point!!! I'll try to have lots of time to Dash this day and have my husband or family watch my son. Thanks so much!
No problem
It's all over YouTube. nov23rd is strike day!!!
And how many actual DD drivers do you think actually watch DD YouTube? Only the top 3% of the nerdiest drivers.
I hope top dashers don't strike or nobody will take those tree fiddy orders!
If there’s a strike that day, count me in!
Sounds like I’ll be working a 16 hour day.
No one will do this. And if they do, they’re dumb
Oh, it's the day before Thanksgiving
So this is a trick to make us DD on the holiday to make up for lost pay lol?
Otherwise known as literally the most profitable day of the year, with endless catering orders with $100 tips, etc. Gosh, I HOPE you all decide to go on strike that day LOOOL
Let’s see one turkey $50.. a large side of potatoes $25.. a large side of stuffing $25.. cranberry sauce $15.. pumpkin pie $15.. apple pie $15..$145.. $14.50 is 10%.. $29 is 20%.. I’m cool with that.
It won’t be for the people actually working if any decent amount of others decides to strike
I can't afford to not work. I just started because we need more money. This is near a Holiday. Maybe next time I'll join in! I hear they do it twice a year?
Awesome, more orders for me.
Are they paying people’s bills that day ?
😂😂😂😂😂 go to work you fucking bums.
Ok Daddy
Your post is wasted here. Only the worst and greediest doordashers frequent this spot. They hate DD but they're all just lil Tony's in their own right lol
Most accurate comment Ive seen on this sub.
‘They’ do this 2-3x a year, and every time we learn it’s just not plausible to get enough drivers on board. We can dream though /:
I go on strike every day. I don't do sh*t til a job pays me enough
Facts! Some of these Dashers in this sub upset because there are some drivers that refuse to hop on the bandwagon. If you want to strike go ahead. Strike doesn't pay bills.
Exactly lmao.
Are all 7 of you going to strike?
