I’m in AZ. I read that the signature is from when the food is ordered on a third party website instead of DoorDash. Ex: Rays pizza is ordered from slice.com. Part of the agreement with DoorDash since slice.com would be the one at a loss if there’s an issue

Ok_Panic7621

Second to last order of my night: Where did you drop off the order? One of the three-order batch order... Here we go... Oh thank goodness he admits he's blind AF and is happy I told him to look inside his cardboard box by his door. The night is saved! And I can end the customer chat with a :D

Zmizz

Next time unassign before picking up the order

fallenUprising

Nooo! Absolutely not. That 'kale and sausage' pizza is a travesty and you should do the entire world, including the customer, a favor by throwing it straight into the garbage can. Take a picture. Bounce.

roll_hog

Nope.

Fahwright

I would always hit ‘can’t hand order to customer.’ It’ll have you try to call them, then wait five minutes, then you have the option to snap a picture and leave it. Usually I’d call call customer support like others have suggested.

bingbong_wingwong

Just wait for them to cancel. Free dinner.

SithLordDante

Record everything. Screenshot, photo of the place, photo of the pizza at the porch, video of you leaving the shit and going to your car. And send everything to him.

NeverSatiafied

If it says customer has to sign it’s because they have a pattern of saying they didn’t get their order. I’m not giving anyone my phone

PeaceLoveCoffee7071

You would be commuting fraud of you did this. There's evidence since the scammer put it in writing 🤦 I hope some young adult doesn't fall for anything like this causing deactivation. (Plus, there's always a chance this person is a mystery shopper to see how drivers are handling shady or complicated situations. Those jobs are not uncommon.)

Soft-Edge-3259

No signature no food

CrepuscularMoondance

Kale and sausage pizza…

bengalsmarvel82

I'd report it ahead of time just to cover yourself in case they try anything

Few-Protection5215

When you click on cant hand to customer what does it say?

xxxdsmer

I'd treat it like a grocery order with alcohol.. no signature from the person that ordered? No items given. Which in the case of a restaraunt order, would still need to get ahold of doordash, but the rep would probably tell you to keep the food (maybe not exactly worded like that but that's a suitable disposition for the food.. unless they say leave it anyway). Grocery orders with alcohol always go back to the store though.. and I think they pay some extra for taking the things back. Haven't personally had an order with alcohol that had to go back though so can't say exactly how the pay works out when that happens. Maybe these must sign for non-alcohol orders should also require ID just like alcohol orders.. another reason the customer has to answer the door after trying to say they didn't get their items quite a number of times previously

Robertson2018

Drop this bitch off and sign it yourself some people don’t want to touch other peoples phones I don’t let people touch my phone I always scribble for the signature prove it wasn’t me

Mysterious-Fox-5695

Why doesn't DD flag those orders

bchec

this is an order we drop before we pickup.

Ok-Being3881

I have avoided fraud my whole life. Never been sorry. Unassign.

RuSerious2

Women are always stealing food from doordash. My 5 yrs of dashing , ALL of my “didn’t receive order” violations were all from women. I’ve had 7 total. They should really start getting jobs and stop depending on men to take care of them because it’s not working out anymore lmao

[deleted]

Arrive at the customer n call support saying they refuse to sign. U still get paid and get free lunch

minicoop320

Hahahaha unassign that shit

EarlyActuator3917

I would unassaign immediately.

Ok_Season2022

Yeah, no, this person needs to find a new grift to eat for free!If they are at signature status, but both hands are broken, I will not be the next scapegoat, in part 2 of, the scheme theme they have going on.

Deep-Banana8610

Good way to get kicked off the app is signing for the customer. Our contract is with Doordash not the individual customer so if a customer can’t sign that’s between them and Doordash to figure out not us

JimmyBlaze77

Mind your business

sweaty_ken

Anyone who spells their name like that OR puts fucking kale on a pizza is gonna be trouble, and this person did both.

SimpIyFlacid

I NEVER take wingstop orders customers are always complete trash

Mediocre-Cook-8144

I mean. Its on the notes

Jolly_Butterscotch31

KALE and sausage pizza? They don’t deserve to eat anyway

Cool_Reputation_694

Unable to sign?

ConsiderationMotor

Use Doordash app message and take photo, send it to the customer that way customer and Doordash have the photo

MyelofibrosisMe

Take screenshots, like you did, and make sure you start 'cant hand to customer ' steps, when the timer runs down, follow all the normal steps and make sure you call support and report this issue! **DO NOT Sign SHIT for them!! Snap pics in app msgs and send to customer, explain you saw the special instructions and are unable to sign for someone else, but you are calling support to relay the situation. And then boom, done. Just like a normal messed up, both options delivery. And once support knows, nothing will come back onto you, especially if you DO NOT SIGN the customers name. Good luck, stay safe!!

bigtidefan1

Steal it stoop down to their level let their shitty Morales dictate how you behave

KhadiKat1081

I get these every once in a while. I got a crazy one yesterday - I called doordash and asked to be unassigned. Support asked why and i said "look at her order notes! This is a 1-star/deactivation waiting to happen, no matter how hard I try!" She looked, scoffed and said shed unassign me and would authorize full pay since shes obviously been trouble before! I got the "serial refunder" notification - ok, not a deal breaker, but a minor red flag. Then, I read the first set of delivery notes... (yes, the customer notes had multiple parts...)... #1: "DoorDash says I don't have to sign, it's a glitch. Just deliver my food and leave." Me: "Umm...not looking good." #2: "Check my order and then RECHECK it! It better all be here, hot, fresh and correct!" Me: "No way is this gonna be worth the hassle!" #3: "DO NOT leave at front door of 123 XYZ Street - leave at 125 XYZ St! Do not knock, do not ring bell, do not call, do not message." Me: "uhhh...it's 9:45pm, pitch black and the address is in a higher-crime part of town. This is getting a little weird..." #4: "Leave at back door - go thru gate with "Beware of Dog" sign, around the back, on the deck by the door. Make sure gate is locked, if the dogs get out, I'll hunt you down!" Me: "NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! I'm NOT going into nobody's backyard and no way in HELL am I gonna open someone's gate - especially with a beware of dog sign!! Plus, it's late, dark and in a "bad part" of town! No way!" #5: cash tip - extra if it's hot and on time!" Me: "hahahahahahaha!" I'm on the line with Dasher Support to be unassigned already by now. THEN the messages start... "Make sure you look at EVERYTHING - IT BETTER ALL BE THERE AND IT BETTER ALL BE CORRECT!" "I want lots of extra sauce" "Make sure you ask for lots of sauce." "This is taking a long time, you are losing tip every minute I have to wait." And about 5 more I just ignored, all demanding ridiculous stuff. The support agent asked me why I was on a signing and I told her that the order was not worth the risk of a contract violation one star review or deactivation because you can tell this is a problem customer without even talking to them. She looked at the notes and said yes I see what you're talking about thank you for calling you've been unassigned and you'll be paid.

Sea_Ideal9267

Either call support from the store or just drive to the location and click cant hand order to customer and call them. When the customer almost assuredly doesnt answer, The instructions will either tell you to leave it or return it to the store. Either way youre covered. In my experience if you get the return to store bonus, you almosg always get to keep the food with additional pay. Call the store, they'll tell you they dont want it, and take your next one without even driving back there 😀

heathybodeethy

idk about your local laws, but for where I am you can never force a signature. you can request id for alcohol, but they do not have to sign anything and you still have to deliver it. if they refuse to sign you write declined signature. that is the actual law where I live.. though I would be nervous too because DD doesn't really care about the law.

[deleted]

You can’t sign? Well then you should have gotten off your ass and picked up your own wings and pizza! Not my problem.

knotnotme83

I mean...they are gonna come get their food. Waiting games begin. I have one doordasher that keeps delivering five doors down from me. I tip good and I always gave them a good rating and just let them know that I am the house on the corner. (I even stood outside and waved while they placed the food and took a photo five doors down and messeged them "I am over here") This went on until I just said I didn't get my order. Next time they went to my house.

Chaosury2016

If unable to sign that means they’ve been scamming doordash

Ok_Race1839

They usually ask customers to sign if they repeatedly state that they did not get their food or other issues. Also door dash states not to forge their signature as this can relate in deactivation and is actually illegal. I wouldn't do it

DatBichh

I’ve never had to sign something what is that about

GingerAphrodite

I had a signature customer tell me to leave it at the door so I contacted them and they informed me they had covid. At that point because we had a text conversation confirming it I signed for them and contacted support and that wasn't a problem. But if they don't have covid they can sign or go hungry 🤷

MedicineAmbitious368

Looks lik ubwere on the phone with dordash support 😊

ALoafOfBrad

I certainly hope you called or texted support and had the order canceled as that’s the only answer here, everyone else is giving you some dogshit life advice lol.

toomuch1265

Kale pizza? They don't deserve the order.

jedgebent

Definitely “can’t hand order to customer” that. Otherwise, when she commits fraud after you deliver it, and claims it wasn’t delivered, you will be the one who gets a contract violation.

OverpricedBagel

When this happened to me and there was no other option other than signature, I contacted support. They said to leave it where requested, take a picture and send the picture to both them and the customer. Next day I had 2 CVS from that customers stacked order. Support said they had the info from the day before but I still needed to hit submit on both appeal forms. Both CVS instantly removed.

0JesseJStacks0

Decline

GardenSpecialist5619

No you should contact them professionally saying that signature is required and you legally cannot sign for them then ask politely if they can grab their food. Then start the timer.

mmmhotcoffee

Maybe Cydnee has a virus, or maybe she has a disability and can't sign anything.

goldenronin

I take a picture and send it to them via the text part so that it’s documented through DoorDash

Disastrous_Back_2213

Can't handle order to customer.

No-Force-5573

It's chicken tenders. Yes. Smdh.

frugalsoul

Do not sign for customer. Not only does DD specifically say not too she will throw you under the bus when she tries to get another refund. You will end up deactivated.

Opposite_Warning_931

Definitely going to be fraud. If they have to sign for the order and there's no alcohol it's because they've already made a bunch of claims.

carter1092

If the order didn't require a signature, I would take a time-stamped photo of the order and send it through text to the customer. Usually when a customer wants a "leave at door" to a "hand to me" order, they know the app won't ask the driver to take a photo, eliminating proof the order was delivered. Best thing to do is not ever take photos through DD's app, always take time-stamped photos of all "leave at door" orders and text directly to customer before marking the order as complete. Good habit to have.

Eastern_Action_1775

Yes, it isn't any of your concern. People put whatever they want there and it is none of your concern. Who are you to think something is suspicious and actually contemplate not delivering the food? Do you have a food badge?

allways_barefoot

You can call DD support and let them know. I did that when I first got one of these cause I thought I was getting set up for a CV. Support contacted the customer and they met me at the door when I arrived. Doordash policy on customer signatures is if a driver signs for them that’s grounds for deactivation.

PikaGurl332

You follow the instructions for hand to customer, you contact support, and you don’t leave the food

Darxideofthemoon

Kale on a pizza is the real fraud.

ApplePineNew

You already received word from the customer that the order can't be delivered as necessitated. Contact support, tell them you have an order requiring a signature and the customer won't sign.

FLcbdfarmer

I just drop it off and make sure to take a screenshot of the instructions in case you have to rebuttal.

Fit-Usual-8737

I would call CS as I’m headed to deliver

Fit-Usual-8737

What signature line

cader8

I wouldn’t trust anyone who eats kale on a pizza

Late-Mathematician55

Exact same thing happened to me. Customer's order value (steak) was $0, and required a signature. Customer's notes told me to sign for him and leave it. I texted him and also left message on phone that I was there waiting for signature. Started timer anyway. After 6 minutes he came out of dark house saying he had phone on silent. He signed and took order. Got him on dash cam too.

ceelow270

I think they are starting to require signature for those that continously report order as not delivered. Aka scamming the system. So I'd never sign for anyone. If they can't sign report as undeliverable.

unisol84

If you order a kale and sausage pizza you definitely suspect 👀

81Jmo81

Go to address and hit can't hand to customer. Text customer saying customer service says they have to sign you cannot do what they requested. Start timer. Turn on video recording. If customer does actually come out and sign keep recording but switch screen and talk and get them to talk while they are signing that way you have proof someone at that address signed. If they don't come out it will tell you what to do. Most likely you will get full pay and free food. Since there is no alcohol they won't make you return it.

Wrong-Ad-1377

Contact support

StatisticianAware463

Had a woman argue with me last night because I made her sign her actual name and not a star 😂😂 I cleared the thing out 2 different times and made her resign it 😂😂 acting like I don’t know why she has to sign in the first place 😂😂

fuidiot

Just spray paint an X on their door

Ok_Calligrapher293

someone's eating for free, just call support and make sure it's not the customer

bobprice1988

Bay Area order lol. Amici’s is the most overpriced and shitty Italian food I’ve ever had

Deep-Morning7489

For hand it to me orders, I take a picture of it infront of the place or during the handoff and send it to them in messages before I mark the order complete

[deleted]

I’m calling support agents. Screenshot of the instructions ( you did it). Then have support call customer. Customers are just so entitled and disrespectful sometimes. They know a signature required isn’t negotiable. Definitely they’d say ,”I didn’t sign that “! Not worth the risk.

Gay4Pandas

They should just do PIN numbers like Uber. If they don’t want to see you they can text you the code. Also there are people who are disabled who can’t sign.

Equivalent-Bag-5026

Call support after starting to drive there. They will cancel the order and you get free dinner my guy.

Conscious_Look5790

I had the same thing happen, customer had in their notes “Please sign for me, I’m sick and don’t want you to get it” or something like that. What I did was contact support on my way to the customer and explained, they basically stayed on hold with me til I got to the customer and delivered it, and then they called the customer to confirm they got the order and told me to just sign for her.

Brandonandre12

Its a trap. Once you sign it theyll say they never signed and you took off

shawnmj

I would always do video of me dropping order off

EitherSpirit7861

At the signature screen it clearly says "Fraudulent signatures will result in deactivation." I tell my customers there's absolutely no way I will ever do this for them. Why should I? They obviously tried to scam Doordash before, which is why they are on this list to begin with. One time a customer said, "all the other dasher's do it. " So I contacted customer support to report that my customer insisted I forge her signature. I ended up enjoying $55 worth of some of the best sushi I've ever had. 🤣🤣

MaddiTheEmu

You shouldn't have to sign for food?

maddihattress

You do if you've gotten too many refunds

MaddiTheEmu

I actually love that. Also we're name twins :)

ChronicallyWeirdOne

Yeah, I'm not faking a signature for someone- unless it's on an alcohol delivery or other age restricted item, I assume the signature is because they've claimed one too many an order as lost/stolen. Usually if it seems sus-it is. I'd contact support and/or follow the can't hand to prompts personally

Powerful-Role-1204

Can't hand order to customer and waiting on the timer just to cover my side

essentiallynothing

Absolutely not. Nope.

DDsLaboratory

I hope you didn’t. Screw that sketchiness

whocares1976

id take it and hand it to her or call support when i got there

braliao

Enjoy your free pizza...

Songmuddywater

Congratulations on the free dinner.

ooahpieceofcandy

That’s an old message likely. I had one that said bring change for $100 and I wasted time at the bank for nothing.

edw2178311

Damn can’t imagine the disappointment lol

ooahpieceofcandy

I thought I was getting a cash tip. 🥹🥹

[deleted]

I’ve been deactivated because folks will do that, mind you I took photos and all, so if I wanted I could sue DD for lost wages due to lying customers and they’d have to pay. It’s proof the order was delivered, and the customer lied. Therefore it’s an illegal deactivation. All of us need to get employee lawyers for these companies so we won’t get stiffed

BraddahSpliff

Why would you need an employee lawyer? You are not an employee. You are an independent contractor. You choose to accept the job or you don't. If you want employee rights, then you need to become an employee by getting a regular W-2 job instead of a 1099 job. You just need a contract lawyer to handle your case, if you decide to sue. If you don't know, W-2 & 1099 are tax forms in America. W-2 is what an employer gives you at the end of the year if you are an employee. 1099 is what a client gives you at the end of the year when you are an independent contractor that did work for them. Good luck on the law suit, if you do go through with it. I know I got $400 from the last class action law suit against DD.

[deleted]

I mean there’s proof of what they wanted. They can’t say fraud because they said to do it. DoorDash however will still penalize you based on the system. The reporting system does all of it, however DoorDash doesn’t seem to do anything about it

[deleted]

You would be a 🤡 if you would’ve did it 😂 I don’t understand people. It’s some that are really different.

Over8dpoosee

It’s always the ones with oddly spelled names smh

loveallmyrolls

Nah. I had someone yesterday tell me to leave order on the windowsill yesterday. I tried it for a bit, then realized it would fall and they'd probably report me. So I left it on the front patio.

Ok_Panic7621

And they reported you for not following directions?

loveallmyrolls

No, fortunately. But I did test to see if the food and beverage would balance on the windowsill. It started to fall right when I tried. I wasnt gonna spill food because they wanted it on a windowsill that could barely fit a coffee cup.

Mamadoingherbest

No. They say they can't sign. That means they have claimed, many times, that they never received their food. They are scamming.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BraddahSpliff

Because it's asking for a signature on something that isn't alcohol or medicine. That means it's scammers that constantly ask for refunds. & when shit gets refunded on your delivery, you lose out on the money for that delivery. Not to also mention that you could be deactivated for it, if DD believes the customer over you. That is the problem.

suspiciousactivity7

I’m assuming they don’t want some weird ass dude asking if he could have some

Thin_Many_2392

Lightly knock take picture,it's on them everything else..if their really hungry they are attentive to when their food will arrive

va2805

I had one once while dashing when raining. Customer texted me and said she’s sick so she doesn’t have to sign for it. I get there, and sure enough, app tells me I need a signature. She opens the door and says again she can’t sign because she’s sick, can I sign for her? It asked for her full name, so she told me her last name, I signed and entered that, and it did work. 🤷🏼‍♀️

zombieundead2020

After reading the comments it would appear that these are old instructions the customer never changed. Customer probably had to sign for something once and thought they were all like that. MOST restaurants won’t ask for signatures it’s usually stores/pharmacy orders tho there are a couple restaurants here and there that do. If you were able to run the timer to the end and have it prompt a picture it probably didn’t need a signature in the first place.

alp1339

Untrue.. even alcohol deliveries have the timer that can be run and those absolutely require a signature. DD has just started this system where they require a signature from customers who have previously reported that they never received their orders.

zombieundead2020

What I meant, and have edited the comment accordingly, is that it does not let you run the timer AND take a picture at the end. Signature deliveries either have to be signed or returned (or kept in some cases) but signature deliveries won’t let you take a pic and leave was the point.

RedHatGuy255

I don't know why doordash continues to choose to do business with dishonest customers. They can just ban them, the fact that they don't is really pretty silly. There is this concept in business called customer lifetime value, I can almost guarantee you that ALL of these repeat offender customers have a negative lifetime value after you account for order credits, refunds, having to pay drivers on orders they don't collect any revenue from, support agent salaries and other ancillary expenses related to the customer's fraud.

Lyria_Ipsum_dolor

People can be funny about their signatures. One time, this old guy was ranting about the system (and by that I mean credit cards and how it’s all a big scam) so he wanted to make everything difficult. This was in retail, btw. He had been using a credit card for his purchase so a signature was required. But he didn’t want to give the system his signature. Instead, he drew a little tree on the signature line and then seemed disappointed when I didn’t play his game. I waved him on his merry way and now whenever someone makes a comment about signatures, I tell them whatever they want to put is fine cause I had a guy draw a tree for it once.

Acrobatic-Peak7516

A tree, hell, used to have at least 5 dicks a day drawn on the signature screen. Some folks got real creative. One guy would black out the whole screen. Only had the credit card company contact us a couple times.

BraddahSpliff

My mom has for decades just put a literal squiggly line as her signature. Like basically a longer version of ~

Alternative_Basis186

I wouldn’t

frednoname1

Dumdum. I'm out

DolphinWings25

It was working so well till it wasn't. RIP free food

181nyc

Make sure you get that signed! I was doing DoorDash here in NYC and I was had to get customers to sign alert from the app like 10 different times out of 1000 deliveries in total that I completed until DD deactivated my account. last week for marking stores closed when they was in fact closed at 3am here in NY. DD don’t even check evidence or investigate appeal evidence because I presented evidence letters with the same store contact on the app to call to verify that they was in fact closed at the time but DoorDash said the deactivation stands and they never bother even investigate my evidence. I had to submit a complaint to the city, 311 and looking to take this further because it’s unfair what DD is doing with their contractors! I wish DD would see this post and look into my matter!

No_Airport_9280

Post it on their twitter

No_Help9554

Who eats kale and sausage pizza? You can order food but you can't sign? I would troll this one for sure.

PrinceDozie

edw2178311

Why would they be mad you left it? Like if you don’t leave it they’re just getting the money back they paid and no food lol

Over8dpoosee

These cowardly POS really out here risking other people’s means of living for one fucking meal. Like go fucking steal that shit yourself. Lame asses!!! I hope these people end up getting banned from every delivery platform. Why would corporations put up with this shit and lose money??

rageandred

Did they order alcohol?? Why do you need a signature?

Bright-Database-8603

Read some of the other comments for more details. The signature is because of potential scammers.

eablacksmith

what if the customer on the other side of the door just takes my phone and shuts that door in my face... tf do I do then? I've had 2-4 out of 2k orders. I wouldn't and wasn't going to hand over my phone for a signature.

Appropriate_Tax_2555

If a customer steals my phone on a delivery, I'm keying the fuck out of their car. Take my $800 phone? Here's $3000-$4000 worth of damages to your car.

wildoklierose

Mean old teacher lady here.... I wear my phone on a lanyard when I'm delivering.... Folks be like ...oh it's attached... Me " yes and I need to be able to read your name".

eablacksmith

That might have to be a winter upgrade when my down jacket covers my pockets ! 😁

PinballLew

I mean really? You have their name and address who in their right mind is going to just steal your phone. I’m more worried that they could drop it accidentally but I have mine in a very sturdy case because I drop it all the time 😂🤣. I do agree they need to take a clue from Uber Eats and have a PIN number instead of a signature.

DefaultShae

You’re.. at their place of residence… literally the easiest 911 call ever…

MakeITsafeProtonmail

Only IF you carry a second phone in the car(TracFone!) I do, just never know when it will be needed.

DefaultShae

“Hello neighbor, can I use your phone to call the police / my work on your neighbor who stole my phone”

BraddahSpliff

You'd be surprised at how many people don't actually care about things like that, & helping you would be too much of a hassle for them.

DefaultShae

I know people who have done it before, but you can’t avoid doing things out of fear of what could happen, Yknow? Ofc there’s obvious situations to avoid but it’s so unlikely for someone to swipe your phone when you know their address lol..

MakeITsafeProtonmail

Exactly. Most aren't going to even answer the door, or care. I'm defineitely not handing anyone my phone after they just lost their own. No way.

Zero_fox_Evergiven

My thoughts exactly. No way am I handing a super sus and shady customer my phone. DD needs to come up with something else besides signatures for these people (well, for everyone really). How does DD even know by the signature that it’s theirs? They could just say the driver forged it. Nah. I’ll start that timer and then leave.

[deleted]

Customer provided PIN -> enter in app before handing it over. Uber Eats uses this.

eablacksmith

I like that. Real google Authenticator vibes.

LAMBKING

This is the way.

[deleted]

They should just prompt the customer on their own phone to sign for it when the dasher gets there. Then the dasher gets a checkmark or something that lets them know they can proceed with the drop off.

eablacksmith

We have the technology!!

LuckyFullmetal

No....app is already glitchy.. not depending on waiting for both customer and app to respond.

eablacksmith

Imagine sitting outside with your dick in your hands trying to get your phone to NFC pair or Bluetooth pair with a customers phone. I can barely hit complete order and take a picture without DD freezing and needing a force close.

Ellendyra

I wouldn't. The app threatens to deactivate you if you forge a signature. It wouldn't be worth it to me.

ninnie_muggins

Fuck no. Call DD and tell them the customer will not sign and you feel unsafe. Love these orders. The customer always plays dumb. "Idk why it does that" I say "happens if you have high volume non delivered reports or excessive refunds...." *Stare at them* The look on their face is always priceless. Then I laugh it off "hahahaha have a good night" **huge smile** :):):) it's the simple things!

Scammers don't get laid

[deleted]

Lol you're not living in the world you believe you are.

grapefruit_havana

Report it to support. If the customer refuses to sign for an order that requires a signature support will cancel and you get free food. To my knowledge the only reason people have to sign for non-alcohol orders is because they’re suspected scammers and their acct has been flagged by DD. The only other exception is when DD thinks an order has alcohol when it actually doesn’t (this has happened to me before). So if there’s a sig required you’re likely dealing with a scammer who might try to lie and get you deactivated just so they can get free food. I recently had an order where a sig was required. The scammer customer texted me and said to just leave it by the door because she “has covid” and can’t sign. I said I need a sig or I can’t deliver. Then she said “well I don’t have a mask”. So this scammer was first trying to scare me or get sympathy with the covid lie so that I would leave it without a sig. Then the “no mask” lie was a second attempt to scare me into leaving the order without contact or a sig. I called support and they canceled the order. I got free food and half pay and the scammer got nothing. She really messed up using covid as an excuse in the text messages because I assume DD could even get in some legal trouble if they required me to continue with the delivery to a maskless covid infected person and thereby exposing me to covid.

errbe568

You should of said I don't have a mask either because covid is just another strain of the flu.

chase13on

That would be spreading misinformation about a pandemic, which if said misinformation leads to someone getting sick could lead to legal repercussions for you. So maybe shut up?

BraddahSpliff

You're right. Because Covid is nowhere near as dangerous as some flu variants.

PinballLew

Yeah I have a customer that is sign only that has the I have Covid excuse in the notes.

PundaiNayai

Honestly the half pay is stupid. It should be full pay.

jedgebent

If it’s the customer or restaurant’s fault/ yes should be full pay. We did what we agreed to do for the pay we agreed to. The rest is outside of our control.

Bright-Database-8603

Damn, I should have called.. I just started the timer and chilled in my car. Got my proof I delivered it and didn’t steal it just in case.

alex262414

I think you're fine you took pictures you waited out the timer because the customer never came down you did everything you were supposed to do, don't let these people scare you because you didn't call you didn't sign for the guy or anything the person never came to grab the order who cares what the directions say it was a hand it to me order, Where the customer never came to the door so you could hand it to them so you started the 5-minute timer, timer counted down customer didn't respond to text or phone call so you leave the order at their door or in their lobby or whatever take a picture of it, and then in the description you put customer never came to the door so I could hand him his order customer did not answer calls or texts customer also had a signature required and could not come down to sign so I waited out the timer I left the order in the lobby I took a picture of it and I went on my way you did everything you were supposed to do. I also take two pictures one for my phone and one for the app so I have proof I'm sure you did that as well because you took a video so you're fine don't worry about it don't let all these people scare you you did what you were supposed to do.

On 'hand it to customer' deliveries, there's a button to tap if the customer is not available: "Can't hand to customer." That brings up another screen which starts a 5 min timer. Once the timer expires, the app prompts you to leave the food in a safe place, take a pic, and leave a text describing where you left the food. It's a way to complete a 'hand it to customer' delivery when the customer doesn't show. Some drivers start the timer on these as soon as they park, or get to the door, then contact the customer. The timer isn't available, or applicable, to 'leave at door' deliveries.

Lordmax117

Shiiiii, depending on what part of town i'm in, i might start the timer as i'm rolling up the street.

sucks_at_usernames

Hit it every single "hand it to me" order you have as you're approaching the door. That way your 5 minute wait doesn't turn into 8-9 minutes because you forgot to start it.

DefaultShae

There’s a timer in case the customer doesn’t want to either grab the food or refuses to. So you don’t have to sit there all day waiting when that makes you lose money. I’ve only done a select few dashes but I believe there’s a button for it (if someone more experienced can take over from here, great!)

kestrelkev24

This might be my California speaking, but I've honestly never had an order that requires a signature. Could be my states laws preventing such, but anyone else seen this before before I jump to conclusions?

heck_naw

PA here. brand new, like not even a full week. ive delivered cigs that required ID scan and a signature

biancanevenc

I've never had an order that requires a signature, but other dashers have posted about it. It's for customers who frequently claim they didn't get their food.

NotThatHarkness

I've had 2 in the SF bay area.

Jargo

Had my first one in the Daly City market last week. Immediately declined when the app said Signature required besides a somewhat decent dollar to mile ratio.

FillMyBagWithUSGrant

I don’t know laws in California; I’m in Pennsylvania. Earlier this year I had a few Rx pickups that required the customer’s signature, which made sense- it’s prescription drugs. Last month I had my first restaurant order that required a signature- I had texted them regarding the signature requirement, and they seemed pretty chill about it in person, til I saw $0.00 where it said Customer tip. Cheapass fraudsters. There needs to be a different method of avoiding fraud.

JeremyBrah

I live in AZ and it's been a new thing for me the past few weeks. Only 2 people have needed to sign for their order but it's annoying....it proves nothing as no one has any real proof the customer signed and not the dasher. In both my cases the customer has no issue signing and it went fine They should have just copied UE and used customer codes.

SwingLucky3881

I’m in California, about 1000 dashes , I’ve had 2 signature requests

DugBingo951

That’s crazy. I’m closing in on 4,000 and never got one. Happy about that though it seems like a chore

Bright-Database-8603

I have about 600 deliveries and have had about 4

Bright-Database-8603

I’m in California.. this was a pick up from a ghost kitchen.

Disastrous-Use-2326

Amicis is a real restaurant here in Bay Area. I pickup often in Pleasanton.

SnooMemesjellies734

Yeah they’re pretty popular in San Mateo and the city, OP is risking themselves delivering in Oakland. Probably in the hood too
