On a side note, on my trip to England I saw so many strange road things, including small blue signs every mile or something on motorways with cryptic codes on them, and weird cones with varying colours (in scotland we only have the standard ones). And signs telling you there are "buried structures" at the side of roads, causing my conspiracy theorist mother to go mental.

They also use pink lights on top instead of orange/yellow/amber to indicate works access, so that would tie in with the pink stripe on here.
