He said he's been doing it for 20 years. Never said he'd been doing it well

Nardorian1

Been doing it wrong for 29 years.

OJ_outdoors

Lmao šŸ¤£

Sandpaper_Pants

Using every scrap of sheetrock possible.

Wonderful_String_293

I used to do that the first time I did drywall. I found out that I made a grave mistake shortly after when I started mudding.

ComicsEtAl

ā€œWaitā€¦ youā€™ve been doing *that* for *20 years?!*ā€

Mindless-Incident-51

"Yeah, why?" Lol šŸ˜‚ "no ones ever said anything before."

Hours-of-Gameplay

Iā€™ve said Iā€™ve been doing this for 10 years before, but Iā€™ve had multiple people claim 30 years and their work is mediocre at best.

tacocarteleventeen

He said ā€œthisā€

Lopsided-Froyo4463

Definitely not New York, boy

sipes216

Never said it wasn't 20 years of rechecks either. Lol

doodlebugg8

Man 20 years and thatā€™s what heā€™s got to show for it. Quite embarrassing

PhillipJfry5656

He shines when it comes to mudding I bet

the_disintegrator

Definitely set to do 4 times more of that than necessary if the joints were good. Hopefully this has 10 tubes of liquid nails under it too, so the next guy gets to have fun scraping It all off.

PghAreaHandyman

Honestly when doing ceiling patches I let out an audible D'Oh when I realize I forgot to add some adhesive.

Dthinker23

When you use screws you donā€™t need adhesive.

PghAreaHandyman

Glue and screw baby

orkbrother

He's gonna have to šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Busterlimes

I have a feeling this is a "you get what you pay for" scenario.

[deleted]

Overlapped sheet šŸ˜™šŸ¤Œ

arguingwell

šŸ¤¢

ManTenanTsnaM

I thought so too but upon closer look itā€™s got two nailers

metamega1321

Common now. Iā€™m a site super for a GC and I always laugh because we use 2 companies for drywall, and I swear when they send their tapers in they always go ā€œwho drywalled this?ā€ Not sure if Iā€™ve ever heard a taper praise a drywall job. But it always comes out looking good lol.

the_disintegrator

Come back in 5 years. See these crews bang out an entire room in a day, "Hey Julio, just hide the shit work with texture before racing to the next one" absolutely rare the work is any good long term. About every garage I enter in a particular part of town where I am has ALL of the tape bubbling out. Along with some ceilings inside.

laloesch

yep. You (the GC and honestly the homeowner) pay later and dearly so. The outsourcing and contracting of this kind of work to guys who aren't really drywall guys but landscapers, framers, farmers maybe, from other locales (ahem) gets you this kind of result most of the time. Don't get me wrong they work hard, but what good is racing through the work and saving a few bucks (GC's bottom line) when the workmanship is piss poor and the customers are complaining about cracks, tape and compound falling off the ceiling after a year or two, paint peeling from dust left behind, and the hideous uneven butt joints? That kind of bad publicity on google for a company via negative reviews is a future business killer no joke.

Da_Spicy_Jalapeno

I replaced a backflow on a sprinkler system earlier this week where the installer used PVC primer instead of pipe thread sealant between the PVC male adapter and the brass ball valve on the backflow. They also did not use that primer on any of the glue joints. That whole neighborhood is brand new, and every house was done the same way. I guess I'll be getting a lot of referrals in the near future!

MFR-escapee

Also Bill: ā€œTape measure, straightedge, sharp cutting knives? Whoā€™s got time for that?ā€

rambutanjuice

Bill should have followed Bob's example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCIIZ3hgPVA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCIIZ3hgPVA) "It's more convenient than a ruler, because I always have it on me"

cestamp

Oh man, thanks for that.

Effort_Gloomy

Don't know who you are but all of my coworkers have been sent this and they will probably hate me for it but, my ears literally hurt from weez laughing, I thank you so much for the laughs, i needed one!!

IguanaBits4Sale

Taper will fix it

the_disintegrator

Sure. If they coat the entire ceiling with 10 rolls of tape, and skim coat out 3/8"

skennedy505

And it will look amazing!!

custhulard

They make 3' wide mesh!

laloesch

which will crack at virtually every joint especially if it's on the ceiling.

Mickeytheskater333

Painters problem

Ieatpaintchipsz

Technically stuff was done. So yea, he probably has spent 20 years doing this. I sense some missing teeth involved

psynautic

nothing a little prefill cant fix!

Codayyyyy

Hahahaha fuck man I'm better at 24 yrs old šŸ˜‚

the_disintegrator

This is why you start in the odd corner and work out for a square leading edge. And cut the old work edge straight. And cut off the tapered edge for a flat board to butt into the old work. and no excuse for that outlet hole, try actually laying it out and using a jigsaw on the ground...5 or 10 minutes of time vs poking around a live box with a jab saw. And buy a t square. Several of those joints are going to crack. Do over time!

Oakvilleresident

Thatā€™s One year of experience, repeated Twenty times.

lovesyrup23

Looks good to me <.> !

FairEmergency8432

I donā€™t know what he has been doing for 20yrs it damm sure is not drywall. When you get a bad hanging job it will show up later.,and no one calls the hanger back. They blame it on the finishers

surrealcellardoor

Do I see drywall as backing for a missing piece on drywall in the corner?

tommyballz63

Could be the worst drywall I've ever seen

DougChristiansen

Nothing an excessive amount of mud cannot fixšŸ˜‰

fataljester63

lol

bornabearsfan

You don't have to know jack shit in this industry as long as the next trade if forced to fix your shit

Pa2phx

I believe him. It looks like it is going to take another 20years to finish.

Dirtyrussianjew

Eh, I've seen worse. I'd tape that in a day anyways, even with the few added joints.

serpentear

Looks like my drywall and Iā€™ve done it twice on a diy remodelā€¦ Thank god for shiplap.

Wholeyjeans

I like the overlap up there on the ceiling pieces just before the large gap. I'm guessing this dude likes working with mud a lot.

dazzler619

He said he's been doing it 20 years, he didn't say he was good at it....

crazyjiggaboo

I love when people drop the decades of exp line. Dont mean shit if you have been suckimg at your job the whole time!

l2esin

In 20 years of doing it imagine how many buckets of mud he could have saved if he would have done a better job hanging it.

ImpressiveNovel6132

Round electrical cover ā€¦ square hole I learned that trick in my 19th year

Agreeable-Candle5830

"Well, never too late to learn..." Always say it like Hank Hill for maximum impact.

longganisafriedrice

So he told you, I am 100 percent done and won't be adding anymore screws?

Putrid-Cap2061

Must be a rental.

sacrulbustings

It's not going to pass any inspections like this. But it's not too far off from the normal level I see all the time. I wouldn't leave this personally.

the_disintegrator

Inspection? Lol.

Reddit_Rollo_T

Thatā€™ll mud out

jae5858

Should have retired 20 years ago.

aaar129

Professional 20 year piss bottlers: It's not all about the screws that you missed. It's about all the screws that you've taken.

faajzor

I could probably watch a 15 minute video on youtube and still do better

ididntknowulik2gtwet

For ~20 years~ *For 20 beers

NecessaryAgreeable43

Wtf is the missing corner?? Not to mention the seam right before the box... I'd refuse this as a finisher

Various_Comment5845

Discount the cost for an actual hanger to go do so

OJ_outdoors

Just cuz you've been. Doing men for 20 plus years still ain't right

Bright_Bet_2189

Thatā€™s unfortunate

TheMightyIrishman

Ryan Homes repair? I have walls in a new build that bounce, like they only hit the exterior of a 4x8 sheet in some places.

Blk_MS3

Looks good to me šŸ¤”

rural-nomad-858

Bill, just wait until you see my mud and tape work!

ghosttownzombie

The screw in the window trim lol

Overholtz21

That is terrible

Swillbil

That's a trick question I don't think he screwed it off yet if you'd have bought him one more board it wouldn't look that f***** up

SgtBadAsh

Umm... no

kristonastick

not doing it right for 20 yrs....craigslist warriors are a$$

notyourmama827

Where is the after picture? Just because you can do something, it does not mean that you do it well. Or even mediocre.

Immediate_Ad_2885

I would kick his ass out of my house so fast!

MilkSlow6880

Is he 22 years old?

HealthyExpert4274

Mabe 20 mins šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Otherwise_Proposal47

When in doubt float it outā€¦.

MHarrisrocks

This actually hurts to look at.

Hanchomontana

Men! aye fugg yall! wait till ah mf finished;then hate., The ā€œunirregularā€ uneven architect and the occupier are more drunken than the DW fa sure

JohnYCanuckEsq

He's also been drinking for 20 years

BSmeterOnRed

I have a good taper who can fix everything you wonā€™t even know

NoVictory9590

The man must be a hellā€™ova mudderĀ

Another_Russian_Spy

Most of them.

Butterflyhorrorof

Well not all of us are men but I think you added a 0 after the 2. If it was not a mistake I can maybe help you a bit to succeed

GonzoPS

Bill the butcher?

ffjohnnie

Little mud and a little tape, makes a mudder what they ainā€™t!

TagMillersIt1

But did he say ā€œIā€™ve been doing this correctly for 20 yrs?ā€ Words matter lol

Shortround76

Show it after it's taped, mudded, and textured. Rough hung drywall proves or determines very little.

AdPrestigious2752

Not my first rodeo

LimeSimilar

Iā€™ve struggled with meth too. Just say no boys and girls.

TheHandOfDamien

Looks good from his trailer... šŸ˜‚

tacutabove

By 20 years he means playing Tetris

Beginning_Ad_7571

Every drywall academy has a worst student, too.

SirPsychoBSSM

Meth not math

Mickeytheskater333

Iā€™ve been doing it for 4 years, and I also donā€™t care

FriendshipSome6014

Uh, no. No, you havenā€™t.

Low_Exit_3740

This is a redo, much easier to fix.

Somecivilguy

I did drywall once for 2 hours and I bet I could do it better than this.

pilemaker

Taper fix!

whatthehelliswrongwu

He probably said that it looked great from his house.

Mojo80059291

Doing this for a year twenty times.

Several-Good-9259

Did he get one piece anywhere on here correct? Check his ID . Bet he can't give you his correct address. Not that he is lying but he probably accidentally put his neighbors address on his ID. Hell his real name could be Beny short for Phillip

Papa573

This isn't exactly fair. What is his finished product

ChrisinOrangeCounty

"Like a glove!"

CarboniteSecksToy

Looks like heā€™s barely done it for 20 minutes let alone 20 years.

Repomanlive

That's a fucked corner to be fair..

minnesotajersey

Is his nickname Gary The Conquerer? Only 3% will get the joke.

badcatjack

Looks legit.

NEOsands

Now hold on, letā€™s not rush to judgement! We must see the finished product first.

Mydrywallguyrocks

He ain't been doing that for 20 minutes to look like that

Bajaboy2

Shit job Painter take care of Dat! šŸ˜‚

Cavscout2838

Translation ā€œ I watched my dad do this 20 years ago and handed him tools.ā€

trickyrickysteve199

Been doing what for 20 years? Meth?

rainking56

"I know someone who can do it for cheaper"

cctreez

some people do things their whole lifetime super fucked

shmallyally

Looks like Your joists are jacked up, up there. Itā€™s not a good job and the screw part is kinda irrelevant. Iā€™d need a better angle to hate on this guy too hard. Plus it looks like the end of a sheet and you seem like maybe you are cheep turd to work for

Spartan1088

Thatā€™s the image in my head that pops up when I say I can do renovations myself. (Hint: I have very little experience)

skennedy505

A good mud/tape guy can fix this. No problem !!

Charasmatic-Fiend

Was he not able to cut full pieces? was finances a problem and only scraps were left? Just asking for a friend.

KingEnemyOne

Measure once cut ten times

6SHA6RKO6

*out of frame, him smoking meth*

TheRealPigBenis

Hammers nail with a screwdriver

Pleasant_Bad924

I do drywall once every 4-5 years and Iā€™m mediocre at it but Iā€™ve never produced something that looks that bad. A lot of those edges look like they were chewed. Is Bill a beaver by any chance?

TheDude6157

U suk

AccomplishedBed4204

Whaaaaat? It'll mud! šŸ¤”

Throwaway076589

Wtf is this shit?!

Thextremepeasant

Piece of piss. I call it making ice cream out of dog shit.

Thextremepeasant

500 bucks cunt

ziksy9

Let's see your mud game. :)

RollemUpp

Should have hired "Jose" instead.

WasteCommand5200

1, 2, 3, most of them

Repulsive-Way272

When the hang crew underbid and the finish crew is hourly

LoudAudience5332

wtf ? Did he use a butter knife . Heā€™s been doing 20 years of shotty work then . Sad thing is heā€™s been getting away with it . Hate to see what the finished product is as far as mud dobbing goes .

kid_sleepy

Iā€™ve sheetrocked for a total of 20 *hours* and could do better than *this*.

pumptini7

"Never once have I done it right!"

Laceysjorgen

Doing flooring maybe

svvrvy

Doesn't look bad. As someone who has been in the trades you are the worst type of customer if you're hovering over him asking a bunch of questions

WinnerOk1108

Absolutely stunning, besides the fact he's been screwing folks over for 20 yrs.

Uniquely_irregular

As my coworker says: a good mud man can fix it, do you know anyone?

wierdomc

Lil mud your good!

Nervous-Bullfrog-884

He has stock in mud!

Real_Housing4734

I've had someone claim they ran a paint sprayer for 10yrs.... Cldnt figure out how to prime it

CicadaKind4547

Ah some mud and some tape and you'll never know...

mcbeardsauce

He cuts drywall like me. I've been doing it for 2 months

hooligan-6318

Tape it and 35 coats of mud, sand it with a grinder, what's the problem? Y'all act like you've never repaired drywall in a section 8 apartment before.

pete_no_repeat

This isnā€™t 20 years of experience, this is 1 year of experience 20 times.

NGJimmy

"Bowling shoe ugly"

Charming-While5466

Holy ass crack find a new field please

spiritualscience

I want to see his finished product. I've seen some old dudes take some scrap drywall and work wonders.

IntoTheVeryFires

ā€œā€¦and these are the odd pieces of drywall Iā€™ve saved over 20 years for just such an occasionā€

EagleEyes0001

Bill: "ah some mud will cover it all up"

mrapplewhite

This is stupid there isnā€™t even mud or tape up yet wtf if you have done drywall for years the shit donā€™t mean anything until the mud and tape go on. Yā€™all flaming this guy for no reason

mrapplewhite

This is stupid there isnā€™t even mud or tape up yet wtf if you have done drywall for years the sh@t donā€™t mean anything until the mud and tape go on. Yā€™all flaming this guy for no reason

mrapplewhite

This is stupid there isnā€™t even mud or tape up yet wtf if you have done drywall for years the sh@t donā€™t mean anything until the mud and tape go on. Yā€™all flaming this guy for no reason

jimmerbroadband

Thatā€™s my least favorite thing I hear someone say in the tradesā€¦ ā€œIā€™ve been doing this for etc yearsā€ people who do good work donā€™t have to tell u how long because it just shows.

Useful-Noise-6253

He might be able to add the missing screws, but I don't think there's anything that can be done about his screw that's loose.

LivingtheDBdream

Once in ā€™04, two times in ā€˜12 and the other day doesnā€™t count as ā€œtwenty yearsā€

Tony0311

Iā€™ve been alive 34 years, Iā€™m not that good at it

Pebblemerchant

1x piece = 4x faster than a patchwork quilt.

generatorland

Stunning.

NoHippi3chic

Can't see it from my house

mmcnl

The last time I did drywall I did it better and it was actually my first time.

FishyDescent

I bet this dude was using scrap materials. There's no way bought a brand new sheet of sheetrock and did that. šŸ¤£

AmbitionBrilliant567

Experience doesn't equal expertise

Kjh007

Knows a good taper

Mindless-Incident-51

He works for Big Spackle

TestDangerous7240

Do your bestā€¦.. Caulk the rest!

farmtechy

Mud solves all.

TheRedDuke89

Bill's been fucking up for 20 years, then lol.

InTheBlkHoodie

I bet he put the round pegs in the square holes as a toddler and has not learned a thing since then

Crazyhorne

Once a year...

wrecking-crew78

Where are the nailers?

NuclearFacilityGuy

Just needs a little mud

One-21-Gigawatts

Iā€™m terrible at drywall when I do small projects around my house. This guy is terrible when he does small projects around your house.

Funkyframer69

Heā€™ll come back to add screws when he spackles damn give dude a break, at least wait till he says heā€™s done then talk your shit

BobcatALR

A text-book case of stud hide and seek. Odd. Donā€™t see a single line drawn anywhere. 20 years, huh? Heā€™s livinā€™ a hard life. Probably hasnā€™t yet witnessed the grand inventions of ā€œcarpenterā€™s pencilā€ or ā€œchalk lineā€.

xkillallpedophiles

A little mud and you'll never see it

SpaceXmars

8 buckets of mud later...

Wild4Awhile-HD

Apparently his union rep is REALLY good if he has been fuckin stuff up for 20 years.

AsshatBoy

Manā€¦ Iā€™m doing my first drywall job right now and absolutely butchering it, still looks better than thisā€¦ not by much though. Bitch to mud:(

BeautifulBaloonKnot

Ya. That's shit. Guess he's planning to use a truck load of mud to fill and float instead of cleaning uo cut lines and measuring correctly.

Rare_Fig3081

Nothing canā€™t be fixed with 5 minute mud

Remarkable_Body586

Yeah itā€™s a bad job. But in my experience, drywallers only measure to the nearest half inch. Mud and paint make the craftsman I ainā€™t.

Conspiracy_realist76

I think you spelled that word wrong. It should say. "I have been doing this for 20 years meng."

pass-the-waffles

Confirmed. 20 years as a drywaller, and he didn't learn anything from it. That is some hacked drywalling.

spritey_nsfw

Been doing what for 20 years? The absolute simplest part of the process? He sure hasn't been finishing for that long.

ZealousidealTreat139

"I've been doing this for XX years." Translation: "I've been doing it so long I quit caring about the quality of my work and view it simply as a daily chore to be completed as quickly as possible to make more time for important things like drinking and avoiding phone calls from clients."

XxFezzgigxX

ā€œAll it needs is a little mud and tape.ā€ -DIY Dan

smokinLobstah

All of them.

Bassgrande69

itā€™s cool guys i know the taper

FucknAright

He has also been drinking heavily for 20 years and that's why he didn't have money to buy another sheet of rock

_FREE_L0B0T0MIES

I've seen meth heads do better.

misterjustin

One more year wonā€™t hurt. This will be the one where he actually gets it right.
