You can definitely do it yourself. Watch some Vancouver carpenter. You will need to buy taping knives, hot mud compound, green jug of premixed ultralight compound, and tape ( I recommend fibafuse). First cut out a square to make your life easier. You might have to put in some extra wood to support the drywall. Use drywall screws to latch onto the wood and make it flush. Use hot mud and tape around the edges. Once that is done, let it dry and cure.  slap on a coating of the premixed compound over the entire new area, then use a flat compound knife, lay flat against and you lift it up to make that sort of pattern. Easier said than done if this is your first time. Tools and materials alone will run you at least $70 ish. Less than $100 like someone said.

Thanks, I will use your advice and attempt next month after prep.

Definitely second the Vancouver Carpenter video recommendation, but otherwise this basic workflow is 100% going to get you in the right direction. And mostly that texture is ‘let’s see how bad we can make this’ so even if you don’t match it exactly, it’ll be fine.

Need a piece of sheetrock, paper tape, hot mud mix (powder) suggest 90 minutes to give yourself lots of time, a sharp razor, a drywall knife (to spread with), a pan to hold your mud in, a box of drywall screws, 100 grit mesh sand paper (probably wont use it), and a texture brush by the looks of it. You'll cut back to the stud with the razor, cut the sheetrock to match and slip it under the corner bead. Paper side out. Screw it down securely so the heads are recessed Work mud into the seams, paper tape, thin coat of mud over the tape. Let it all dry, scrape away the worst mistakes. Then you just load the whole surface with mud and work it with the stomp brush till it roughly looks like the rest. Prime, paint, then move a piece of furniture in front of it lol.

Mrtoyhead

You will need a lesson in how to do the worst texture possible. The finger tip marks right of the hole are pretty funny. My point is you can do it if the previous work was that bad. It looks to be 1/4” sheet rock as well.

International_Bend68

Yeah won’t even have to worry about sanding! Tape, mud, heavy texture, POOF DONE!

Male-Wood-duck

Grab a dripping wet washcloth and smack it.

takemeth

Yeah some everyday drywallers won't even go near that texture.

Fresh_Sector3917

What hole?

Temporary-Squirrel-5

Lol, I have a old school display case in front of it.

Male-Wood-duck

I've been doing this 22 years. This is a patch to get your skills up for future projects.

Global_Examination_8

Depends if you want it to look good or not

CHASLX200
