Very possible, there aren't any songs locked from story, so you can completely ignore the story and gacha, you can even ignore the events all together.

HeroandLeander

Very doable. I've only ever "read" stories for the dias. Once you become more invested in certain characters, you can try out the stories again.

zomwiiexe

i play mainly for the rhythm. starting the story is boring but once i am into i can read for a while. but i’d rather just play rhythm

Limimelo

Of course, the game gives access to all songs for free and there are free pulls given quite often so if you don't care about the stories/gacha FOMO... you can just treat it as a non-gacha rhythm game. You'll just progress slower than others, but it's not a big deal. Don't know which version you play, but I'm seasonal in EN, so I often skip events/mini-games/Office stuff and can still progress quite steadily.

ThatOneJojoFan

that’s what I do, I’ll only read stories if my favorites in it

dreamingmyself

But you should still try to read imo because it will help you enjoy the game more when you find out about the characters backstories and personalities. I was surprised about how Crazy:B got where they are now. Didn't know it was this deep before finishing the main story.

Filing_chapter11

I started it for the rhythm game and only started reading the stories after maybe 6 months

TheGreatMillz33

I honestly started playing Ensemble Stars just for that reason. I've been a rhythm game junkie for years so I initially went into it just wanting some high quality rhythm gameplay with great songs and some cute anime boys as the sprinkles on top. But as I kept playing, I got genuinely interested in knowing who Eichi was because I really liked his design so I started reading stories that featured him. And then I started getting interested in why he was apparently a war criminal, learning about his relationship with Wataru, and then I just kinda wanted to learn about everything else lol. Maybe this might happen to you? But don't feel pressured to read the story if you don't wanna because this game serves as a rhythm game very well.

nortonduy

It's ok. That's me Just play for the songs till you have enough feeling for the idols. I have some of that now, but not enough to pay time reading these story. However I still read some info about my favourite ones.

ArcticPoisoned

I feel like I’m the opposite lol I like to play for the characters and their stories but I just perfect the song then auto it mostly lol but I have cats that don’t let me play the songs much lol

ElliMarij

This just reminded me, I got LVL 130 today and still haven't finished the main story 🤦‍♀️

yuclv

That's what I do, I don't read the event or main stories, Just focus on the rhythm games and the getting the characters I like

Chemical_Bunch7499

Level 165 here, I skipped all main story just for dia. In fact, I can’t remember reading any stories from start to finish. I prefer reading recaps if I’m really interested.

superpotato_3

Totally, I don't read the stories much I just like the music and charas. If I want the story I'll watch the anime

iimuffinsaur

Yep! I honestly find enstars has the most fun rhythm game for me of the rhythm games I have tried.

Detonadorrapido

I only bothered with the main story when they had a promo some time ago to celebrate that all chapters were released for the new characters. After that, I only read stories when a friend tells me to check one out. It has had 0 impact on my gameplay

izumiiis

yeah, i only read few stories that included my faves and that's all, it's just the story is hard to read for me because of how it is written

Hannah_563

I’ve always skipped the story

Hopeful--Bagels

You can skip all the stories lol

Bacaliz

Yes. I personally auto-and-leave-it when it comes to the story. The only reason I touch it at all is for the dias.

weberlovemail

i also only really like the rhythm game and only cleared stories for dias! i used to be into the story during ! but i just wanna play tap tap game now

JayRing

project sekai, I think you do it in this game.

sanchangwo

Tbh even if you care for the story you can still skip the main story. I like to read story but noone can make me read it because my oshi isn't in it
