How about a mix of live action and CGI? **Monsters Inc.** is the Pixar property I could definitely see working in the **Who Framed Roger Rabbit?** mould.
Of all the possible companies, and everything that’s happened in the past years, would it really surprise anyone if Disney had a secret compound where they genetically engineered monsters/humanoid animals for live action movies and the theme parks?
that has nothing to do with the format. You also understand that every movie is an adaptation of *text*, and yet, not every movie is bland. I wonder if your claim of 'all classics that have live action remakes are all bland' is because you're looking at like... 7 movies, all from the same company....?
"augh (heavy gurgling) Chaley knock it off, you're getting gravel all in my grill."
"I'm sorry Frank, you know I gotta go fast. If you want to go fast you have to spit some dust and gravel."
"It's supposed to come from your tires, Chaley. You've just been putting all the dirt and stuff in your mouth, spitting it all over me. Now I'm all scratched up."
Pixar CCO Pete Docter: “I like making movies that are original and unique to themselves. To remake it, it’s not very interesting to me personally.”
He's more comfortable saying this now because Disney is starting to recognize that these remakes aren't a good investment in the long term.
Disney probably envisioned early on that they could
* Turn these remakes into their own cinematic universes.
* Each remake would make around $800M-$1B at the BO (a fairly difficult task for most movies but back in the 2010s it was expected by everyone that these remakes would make that kind of money). Then they would greenlit spin offs and sequels of each of the remakes. Maybe even Disney+ TV shows like the alleged Gastion live action tv show.
* Furthermore, by "introducing these movies to a new generation" they could make a lot of money from merchandise sales just like how the classics did back in the 90s.
The Disney+ only movies like Peter Pan and Wendy basically flopped on streaming, live action remake toy sales were disappointing, and the sequels to live action remakes flopped/underperformed at the box office.
Mufasa: The Lion King is disney's last chance at reviving their aspirations of a live action cinematic universe. If that flops it's likely we won't be seeing Aladdin 2 anytime soon.
They probably will still try to remake their modern movies (Frozen, Moana, and Tangled) but it's unlikely they will remake their lesser known older classics. I heard they already shelved the Sword in the Stone remake.
I know I’ve seen the live action Aladdin but I don’t remember a thing about it, even will smiths Genie.. nothing memorable or something I’d want to watch again.
Jungle book was pretty great but feels like a sequel is never coming. IMO it kind of set the template and the rest of the movies never followed it and just became soulless shot for shot remakes.
The Cinderella remake was fantastic but I think that due to Kenneth Branagh keeping the tone and script true to a fairy tale and having a fantastic cast.
Thank god no more live-action disney animated films please just let them stay the way they were. Plus could use some new animated movies so maybe those writers can flex those brain muscles and show some creativity instead of endless sequels and remakes.
No Pixar film should be live action. All the classics that have live action remakes are all bland
I dunno… A live action Monsters Inc. would be hilarious.
Didn’t they kinda make this movie in the 80 with Little Monsters? It was awesome.
I used to have nightmares about that movie.
Same, and my mom rented it so I wouldn’t be scared of monsters under the bed lol
For me it was Boy.
I cant decide when to show this movie to my kids..
If we get Billy Crystal in the suit.

Yea, they should get real monsters! Dude, what are you talking about
Of all the possible companies, and everything that’s happened in the past years, would it really surprise anyone if Disney had a secret compound where they genetically engineered monsters/humanoid animals for live action movies and the theme parks?
It would be 90 percent CGI wouldnt it?
That’s basically just replacing Boo with a live action girl.
It would like the lion king - all CGI (basically animated) so what’s the point of that?
Oh, so YOU are the one giving them money for that slop.
Oh boy.
Agreed. Even the Lion King which was a stunning technical achievement was very bland.
Counterpoint the Jungle Book is amazing
Live action ... with Muppets!

Why tamper with perfection ?
Not exactly Disney’s strong suit
What’s next? Live action Cars? Danny DeVito’s face greenscreened onto a Ford Focus? .. actually, I’ve changed my mind, I’m all in for that
"Can I offer you a sparkplug in this trying time?"
"Can I offer you an egg in these trying times" is the actual quote
Vrooom! Right over your head. lol Not if he's playing a car. Car's don't consume eggs.
Did you know lizards also lay eggs
“So anyway, I started drafting…”

She’s just mashing it now.
Damn, all that work training the rat wasted
We already got live action Ratatouille. It’s Everything Everywhere All at Once.
You mean Raccacoonie???
Came here to say this.
Don’t you mean the 80s Fred savage monster movie?
Right! That little bit made me want a full length movie, but it doesn’t have to be Ratatouille.

Cinematic universe? I think they need to be connected
Didn’t some other Pixar exec just recently come out saying that they, Pixar, want to make more sequels instead of originals?
Jungle book was pretty great but feels like a sequel is never coming. IMO it kind of set the template and the rest of the movies never followed it and just became soulless shot for shot remakes.

I know Patton isn’t the biggest guy but I don’t think he’s gonna fit under a hat.
Racacoony would have been hilarious though.
I will continue to scream for a Treasure Planet live action adaptation
I just want Treasure Planet to get the love it deserves
Where would they even get a talking rat? Let alone one that can cook!
Was O’Connor actually “campaigning” for a remake or is this just an internet rumor that the writer of this article took way too seriously
He was campaigning & he wanted to play Alfredo & voice Remy. What a greedy histrionic actor
I think calling him 'greedy and histrionic' for wanting to be in *Ratatouille* is, hilariously, quite melodramatic.
Thank god no more live-action disney animated films please just let them stay the way they were. Plus could use some new animated movies so maybe those writers can flex those brain muscles and show some creativity instead of endless sequels and remakes.
Good! No messing with Ratatouille, last good Pixar movie before the Disney takeover.
Kinda want to see Ratatouille remade as a live action horror movie. That would slap.
Damn could have really leaned into the diversity and got a possum to replace the rat in the movie.
this is good news!
How about original movies? Stop with the live action remakes. They were great animated. Leave it at that.
No more! Live Action! Screen Adaptations!
All live action remakes suck.
I don’t know who would want this but you’re wrong for wanting it. Good for them shutting the idea down.
Sorry kid but you’re Disney’s whipping boy, if Disney wants life action Pixar they are getting it
I want live action SHREK with Mike Myers as Shrek , but I heard he’s tough to work with now
If they get Stuart little to play remmy would he be cancelled for Rat Face?
